Very easy to use, no manual necessary. Play with it for five minutes and you've got it.

I use fender strat deluxe.
When I bought the effect, I tested all the chorus available around here.
after reviewing all boss (include some old ones), marshall, digitech, dod and danelectro pedals,
there where 2 options left.
this one is mostly quiet, and it has a beautifull chorus.
this one is also much more versatile.
So my final decision was, ROCKMAN STEREO CHORUS DELAY, the best chorus/delay available for me.. so I bought it...

Reliability : 10
You couldn't kill this thing. I'd definitely use it w/ no backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know..

Overall Rating : 10
The best chorus/delay effect I know.

Very easy to use. you could just play with it without reading the manual (included) and you'll know exactly what everything does. LEDs are easy to understand. Overall this unit is a no brainer.

Pure Boner-dom! It is all analog, giving that natural, warm, smooth sound. Even with it's built-in compression, it's virtually noiseless. I wish that I could run Chorus WITH the Delay and the Delay was in stereo (but I bought a Rockman Stereo Chorus & Rockman Stereo Echo I run a slew of Rockmodules thru (2) 5150 heads each with a 5150 cab in stereo. KILLER SMOOTH SOUND! Of course, the distortion is left to Eddie's amps, but for the clean channel, EQ'ing, Compression, Chorusing, Echo, & Delay (& MIDI footswitching between all the Rockmodules), I leave that up to my Scholz gear (I can't figure out why guitarists spend wads of cash for tube amps, yet use sterile, grainy sounding digital effects to run thru them...someone enlighten me!). Scholz has said repeatedly that he invented the Rockmodules because he couldn't go out and buy the gear he needed, so he had to build it himself. Have a listen for yourself and you'll see why nearly every major artist on nearly every hit record in the 80's & 90's used a Rockman effect of some kind in their rig or in their studio (even Eddie Van Halen uses the Guitar Compressor in his rig as evidenced by his rig pics in Guitar World).

Reliability : 10
I bought my unit back in 1989, and it's still going strong. It's been in damp basements, knocked around and I've never had a problem with it.

This unit (as all Rockman products) is all analog. It is the best sounding Chorus on the planet, guaranteed to give you parasympathetic blood flow to your corpus spongiosum. You park this next to ANY other chorus (digital OR analog) and you'll chuck the digital one out the window. Scholz correctly calculated the delay times in both the Chorus and the Delay, giving it the most natural, warmest, & smoothest Chorus you'll ever hear. Tho the Chorus can also be found on the Rockman Stereo Chorus with more features, Scholz never made a Stereo Reverb Rockmodule but it's as close as we're ever going to get. You can find these units used for $75-100, and it is an excellent addition to every arsenal.

One of the earliest offerings of the famous Rackmodules which revolutionized guitar effects processing. A no-brainer to use - an elephant can figure it out! On the face of the unit: Headroom LEDs with adjustable drive level (-6 to +10). Has a bright blue "Mode Select" button to select between Stereo Chorus or Delay. A Green LED indicates the Chorus is on while an Amber LED indicating the Delay is on. The Chorus side has a Sweep Speed slider and a button to select the patented Long Chorus if desired. The Delay side has a button to select either Long or Short Delay. Also featured are: a Feedback slider from 0 to infinity, & a Delay Time slider from 50-200ms (Long) or 20-100ms (Short) depending of if Long or Short Delay is selected. The Output contains an "A" mix (indicated by a green LED for Chorus) and a "B" mix (indicated by an amber LED for Delay). Both "A" & "B" Mixes each have 4 modes, from Subtle/Mono, to Equal, to Normal Stereo to Wide Stereo. Simply select the mode for Chorus (I like the Wide Stereo) or for Delay (I prefer the equal setting during distortion). The rear of the unit has (6) 1/4" jacks: 1 Input, 2 Output (Direct *mono* & Processed *for stereo* - the Processed side alone can produce some cool sound effects, but outboard effects like mixers are necessary), Chorus/Delay Footswitch jack, A/B Mix Footswitch jack, and a Bypass footswitch jack.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality is perfect, exactly how it should sound. Once, our rhythm guitar player split, so our singer took over. All he had was an amp with built in distortion, and a guitar. I told him that I'll lend him my other amp, and all he has to get is this unit and he is all set with his guitar sound for the next gig, everything else will come later. Next practice, he came with a big smile on his face and his first words were, "You were right...that's all I needed." I've tried a bunch of amps with it, and it never sounds bad. There's no noise.

Reliability : 10
this thing is old but I think its gonna last. There must be a reason why is still working. Is very well built.

I got this off ebay I've seen other's go a little cheaper but definitely worth the price I paid. I don't use chorus hardly at all but this has the best one I've ever heard. I try and minimize effects and use them sparingly. The sholz unit does great slapback and long delays. I don't think guitarist really need anything beyond 300ms and anything more you are just paying for something you will never use. I would buy another again but would shop more on ebay see if I could get it a few dollars cheaper. The two big negatives I don't like about the unit is it's very fragile and the controls are confusing to me. I don't use it that much so it's not a big issue for me I would still give this a 9

pretty simple. the delays are mono, the chorus is stereo. when you switch to chorus, it creates a cool effect (because you just jumped into stereo).

Sound Quality : 9
i played my les paul special (p-90's) into the rockman sustainor, then the chorus/delay, then out into an mbox into protools. the delay is very nice and musical sounding....not quite like an old tube/tape echo, but very solid, useable echo. the chorus is really cool.....stereo, psuedo-double effect. you don't have to set it for intense 80's style chorusing....just a touch to get that "width".

Reliability : 5
im gonna go middle of the road on this one....cos i don't really know. when i got the unit, the pots and switches were dirty and noisy but the effects worked fine. i opened it up and cleaned it off (mainly just dust). sprayed electronic cleaner on the connections and checked for loose soldier points (there were none). after the cleaning the noise level and scratchiness came down considerably. i'd say these units are reliable, but because they are old you may need to give them a once over if you buy a used one.

Customer Support : 3
not much can be done. dunlop services original rockman pieces but its a 6-month waiting list!

Overall Rating : 9
i play rock. its a fun unit to have in your arsenal. i could see myself reaching for it in a recording situation. don't know if i'd play it onstage...i think i prefer an analog delay stompbox (memory man, or boss dm-2), and an analog chorus pedal (deluxe mm, or boss ce-2). but those pedals don't do the wide stereo effect......the rockman unit could be cool out at front-of-house, with the soundman adding it into the sound coming from stage. im glad i own this unit. im sure i will be using it on recordings.

The unit is straight forward and easy to operate. I built a 6 switch footswitch for this and the Sustainor that I also have ($35 for both with the rack tray from a pawnshop). The footswitch also has LED's that mimic the LED's on the face of both effects. I have no manual, but who needs one.

Sound Quality : 8
The chorus is THE 80's in a box. This chorus is easily recognizable and is as unique as say the Roland Jazz Chorus. In stereo it's even better. There's no noise and neither this effect box or the Sustainor colors the guitar when bypassed. I use this with a guitar amp, or with PA and recording mixers.

The delay is a little limiting with 200 milliseconds maximum delay, but I may diddle with that some day. Neither effect has any objectionable noise.

Reliability : 8
These boxes look pretty cheesy, but heck, it's 21 years old and it still works with all of it's sliders and switches intact. I always have backups, including other choruses and delays (and distortion pedals.)

Customer Support : No Opinion
They were friendly, then they disappeared. Limited offerings are sold by Dunlop, but not this or the other rack devices.

Overall Rating : 8
I bought the Sustainor and the Chorus/Delay in the rack tray all for $35. Judging by the reviews here, that's a great buy! The quality of the distortion can be crisp and cutting to pretty dull. It has it's own signature tone, and it's a good one. It differs from other chorus/delays in that the controls aren't just your speed and depth, and the stereo capabilities are a bit different. Remember, in 1985, the rules for effects weren't yet set in stone.

I built a 6 switch footswitch so I can access the three presets in both the Sustainor and the Chorus/Delay with LED's that match the front panel LED's. That makes it pretty versatile.

I don't have equipment stolen anymore. If stolen, I'll find it in minutes and will recover anything stolen at gunpoint. GPS chips are great and so is my aim.

I bought this and the Sustainor because the price was too good to pass up. I also gave away my Rockman headphone amp many years ago, so this was a way to recover THAT tone, but with more versatility. If the delay was 300ms or better still 400ms, I'd give it a perfect rating.

its easy to use. It has all the necessary controls needed for setting up good chorus and delay sounds.

it sounds really good. It doesnt have too much speed range but its very subtle and warm. Sounds really pro.

I still use my voodoo lab analog chorus along with this one. Both sound great but the rockman chorus sounds good with everything you add to it, especially distortions. the voodoo lab sounds really bad with distortions but does a great job in the clean channel.

I bought the rockman chorus because of the reputation it has, and I was not wrong :)

It's fairly easy to get a good sound of the chorus/moderately easy on the echo. I think your average guitar player would struggle with it even with the owners manual. The manual is somewhat usual and I would give it just slightly above average marks. Mine is one of the first units that came out I believe though I don't think there were any circuit changes on the chorus/echo unit through production.

Sound Quality : 9
This has the best chorus sound I have ever heard for guitar. Period. I have used the best (boss ce-1, 80s ibanez dual cam stereo chorus) this one wins. The best chorus out there does sound like "boston." The echo is also the best analog echo you can get out there and comparable to the slapback on echoplex. Again, I've had the best on those (ep-1 and ep-2 near mint conditions serviced by mike battle the inventor perfect operating condition, new ep-3 and like new ep-4) I was a "tape echo" only person for years but I would say the scholz unit will give you about 98% of any tape unit out there, no tape transport problems to worry about and much quieter for recording. It's a little hard to tweak the controls on the unit but the great sound is in there. I think it helps because I know what the best sounds like allready so I know what to look for. For years I was very dismissive about analog delays still financially I was forced to reconsider them. It's all in the memory chips make sure you buy something with panasonic memory chips (maxon, scholz, etc) They really sound awesome

Reliability : 5
I would not gig with this. Real delicate I'm always afraid I will break it and it has plastic controls that are hard for adult size fingers to operate. There are several qualified electronics people that do great refurbs on these for $50 if one ever goes out. No, I would not use this without a backup and always worry it will go out on me. Save mostly for recording. The unit is nearing 20 years and I don't think it was designed to last this long. So far no problems with mine though

Customer Support : 5
there out of business but there are several online places that do refurbs for $50

Never dealt with customer support. Unfortunately, it seems they don't make this stuff anymore which is a d@mn shame. Seems like it's owned by Jim Dunlop. If I may be frank, who is the bozo who made the executive decision to stop making this stuff?

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I play 80's style hard rock, and I've been playing for about 16 years now. I would definitely buy this again if I can get my hands on it and mine dies. I also have an intellifex, and it doesn't even come close to the clarity and the smoothness of the rockman chorus sound. This unit will put you in the mood to rock and rip.

I used to sell Scholz gear when I owned a guitar shop years ago. Unfortunately, he sold the company a few years back to Jim Dunlop who whores the Rockman name by selling re-designed headphone units and a couple of footpedals.
