Ease of Use : 9
Very easy to use. Its just a standard distortion pedal layout.

Sound Quality : 2
The sound of this unit is not uncommon to the Rockman Distortion generator, kinda close to the XPR. This unit is noisy. No real use for this item actually, if you have a sustainor then this is pointless. If you use this with an amp, you'll need a noise eliminator of some type.

Reliability : 6
Built well. Very sturdy. I would say this could hold up well on gigs.

Been playing for 30 years, have experience with basically everything under the sun as far as guitars and gear. As far as the big picture, it's just another Boston distortion. No more, no less. Some may say when you dial it in just right, which really would take more equipment than just plugging this right in, you could get a great sound. After experimenting with this with other Rockman gear and other gear, I was really not impressed at all. Got rid of it after a few weeks. Don't miss it. It's a rare item, but maybe that is why.

The space ship took off, and now we are left on our own...

Overall Rating : 10
If you want the newest or heavest thing out there, this is not for you. If you lust for those Boston & 80's type tones impossiable to dial up with a digital device, (Think Rush, Randy Rhodes, ZZ Top, Def Leopard...) this is the ticket.

Very easy to use. Volume, bass, treble and gain knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds amazing! I played this beside my Rockman Distortion Generator and it absolutely blew it away! So I put a Rockman EQ with the Distortion Generator and I still couldn't get it to sound nearly as good as the Ultimatum. The Ultimatum is rare so it costs a LOT more than the distortion generator. Typically, I will go with the cheaper unit and sell the more expensive unit if there is not a significant difference in sound quality. However, this time I'm going to keep the more expensive Ultimatum and get rid of the much cheaper distortion generator because there is THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE! When I switched from the distortion generator to the ultimatum, it was like going from a small combo amp to a full Marshall stack.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank as are all SR&D products.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dunlop bought them out, so I don't know... I hear they have a tech from SR&D working for them though and he'll look after the Rockman stuff.

Overall Rating : 10
I play classic rock and of course that includes Boston. If you like the Boston sound, then this is THE pedal to get. Can't think of any way to improve it.
