Pretty simple; one knob for highs, one for lows, and one for gain. The only trial-and-error is combining the tone knobs with the amp settings.

Sound Quality : 7
It doesn't make your solidbody sound like a Martin but it does give a very nice sound to my 2 humbucker Guild Les Paul copy. Through the amp alone (Fender Princeton solid-state), the tone is a bit brittle with too much midrange. The pedal gives it a more complex sound with far less harshness. It's not a true acoustic sound, rather something halfway between electric and acoustic.

It's very quiet unless you turn the gain way up and there's really no need to do this.

Reliability : 7
Hasn't failed although the battery containers look a bit cheesy.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I do thumbpicking and prefer a solidbody for its size and durability. This pedal definitely improves the sound over the amp alone. I never cared for the sound of acoustic-electrics anyhow; this is a far better solution for me. Next, I might try adding a processor for some delay.

Four knobs, Just set 'em, and forget 'em...This pedal took me a while to warm up to. I hated it at first. I expected it to make my '81 Les Paul sound like an Ovation...It didn't and I was bummed. Then I stepped on the chorus and added some delay...And it brought tears to my eyes...Gave me the high end bright sound I've been searching for....I ended up springing for the AC adaptor because the battery covers/holders broke after like a week. BEWARE of combining it with distortion...It will make your ears bleed.

Sound Quality : 9
I run this pedal first in the fx chain followed by a really old Big Muff, a Fender Blender, an ADA Flanger my dad gave me, and lastly delay...This thing is super quiet and there is no signal loss that I can make out. With delay and chorus added you can get a really nice trippy sound evoking memories of the original Planet Caravan..In the studio I play it through a vintage Orange Overdrive head and cabinet...I never thought I could get a Les Paul to sound this good clean.

Reliability : 7
Like I said, the battery covers busted after a week or so...I had to slap a piece of gaffer's tape to the back to keep the 2 nine-volts in place...Besides that, it seems to be built like a tank.

Haven't had to call. Yet.

For quiet passages in between heavy distortion, or intro/outro work, this pedal is great...The switch doesn't always take on the first shot...Especially if your in a rush to turn it off and go back to a dirty sound...This thing does NOT mix well with overdrive..it can be downright nasty at loud levels. The tri-angle wedge shape is quirky as well...I actually have the foam in my board cut so that the face of the pedal lies paralell to the ground...I think it's easier to hit that way.
