Easy to get crappy sounds which seems to be the only thing this pedal is good for.

I play mostly noise pop and vintage rock (50's 60's and 70's). I own many killer tube amps and several American Fender and Hamer USA guitars. For effects I use mostly fancy (i.e. expensive) boutique pedal effects.
I ran this pedal into every amp I have (12 total including Hiwatts, Marshalls, Fenders, Orange, Sound City, Traynor) with every guitar I have (7 total) and could not get a useful sound out of it. It was very thin sounding and ratty. I was expecting something warmer and a bit more powerful, but all this pedal did was give me the aural equlivant of chewing on tin foil. The boost OK, but I have other pedals that do it better. I can usually find a use for just about any pedal when I'm recording or creating new sounds. Not the case with the Blackjack.

Built like a tank. It's very dependable...you can depend on it to sound like crap.

Why spend big bucks on a solid state amp when you can buy a $60 Blackjack pedal and get that solid state sound from your killer tube amp. I sold it in the hopes that someone else might be able to make it work for them.

If you can't figure this pedal out.....I feel very sorry for you. Straight ahead controls. I use it solely for the gain boost function.

The distortion doesn't really knock me out. It doesn't compare to the distortion I get out of my Marshall VS100, or my Carvin Legacy. But as a gain booster its pretty damn decent. I use it for giving my leads a little something extra! Doesn't boost level....just feeds in extra gain into the input. I run it WFO and it really fattens the sound up and gives extra cut and harmonics.

Please!! It's built better than any pedal on the market...just as all the Rocktron pedals. I KNOW the casing will never have a failure...and the interior guts of the pedal are put together extremely well too. I have had this pedal for 8 months and I am extremely confident it will never fail me.

I play a variety of styles in my band.....covers and originals. This pedal is a nice addition for what I use it for. If I lost it....I would consider replacing it.....but wouldn't before shopping around some. Playing for 15 yrs...I have grown to be pretty damn picky about my gear!

This thing is pretty simple to use. EQ set, level out, overall gain, and you're good to go.

OK...i first bought it when i picked up my Peavey 112 combo bass amp, and was using it for the perfect Les-Claypoolish distortion such as that heard in the opening of "My Name Is Mud". Then i tried it with a guitar through a Fender RocPro700 amp. After thrity seconds, it was back to being a part of my Bass rig. Get it?

Overall, it's a wonderful thing to use for fun on my 6-string bass (it has a thin tone that doesn't hurt bass cabinets, either), but it plain ol' sucks for guitar. Still, i always bring it with me to bass gigs, and it usually gets used.

With my bass it sounds really nice with teh boost on. I use an Laney HCB50 for home and an Orange 100watt head ans Vox cab (1 12)" and the pedal sound great in both. I always have the Bass as high as it will go on the amp and then Bass on the pedal right up. It sound so good for my type of Music (grunge, Metal) The boost is also a great thing. I mainly use it instead of a volume pedal as it works just aswell

I have never had a problem with the pedal except forgetting to take a screw driver with me to undo the back when I need to change a battery. Other than that the pedal has been the best one yet and I 've had a few

Well I've had several pedals. Rocktek Distortion was my first it was very cheap the battery wires came lose and I go to carried away with the plastic casing it broke. Then I had a Boos DS-1 which was good then it got stolen at a gig. Danelectro Daddy O which is lying round on my bedroom floor. Then a Trace Elliot preamp not worth the price I paid for it. The construction of the pedal is great although I had a new case fitted on mine after a mad fit of destruction where it got smashed with and ampeg 4 12" which we rented but other than that you won't break it. I have had a few Guitar never very expensive ones I have no money and they get wrecked easily as I always lend them out. But this suely has to be one of the baet pedals for Raw distortion you can't be it. Only thing I didn't like was the price it was about #150, $250 abit expensive. But well worth it.

Its pretty much a standard metal sound, but respects your amp. Buttons are kind of hidden; but thats so it stays on one setting. The manuals great!

Great sound, smooth distortion, plenty of headroom Low noise, and the guitar passes through it very well. Good bypass system. The peddle is very middle ground with almost no variation in effect even with a 3 band EQ system. I'd consider it a "dry" pedal.(Classic Rock) A 90's clean cut answer to 70's psychadelia

Its great for the simple type of settup Im using now. It really brings out the characturistics in my vintage MusicMan amp. It does a great musical job. Also-I use a Fender Strat vintage.

This distortion pedal has control for level, gain, bass, mid, and treble. Dual swithches for distortion mode, and booster mode. Up to 60db distortion. Boost channel offers a 20db gain boost and a 20db volume boost increasing the volume. In order to get a good sound from this pedal, the EQ must be tweaked, on both your amp and the pedal.

The distortion is thin. It produces a nasaly sound. It isnt as warm as I had hoped. If you like to palm mute, and get a full sound, dont buy this pedal. It serves the purpose for alternitive and some rock, but not the heavier music.

This pedal was a mistake, but turned out ok. I first bought it to be my source of gain. Then, when I discovered the sound from my amp, I junked it. Then, I decided to work it into my rig. Now I use it for classic rock and in front of my amp. Its great to have, but for the price, it could be better. If you have any other questions please email me.
