The hush pedal is extremely easy to use. It's got two knobs, and two buttons. It's a noise gate. It's not complicated.

This is the $10000 question isn't it??? I purchased a Hush Pedal not too long ago and couldn't box that little bugger up fast enough. It killed my tone completely. I hated that. My desire to get my money back barely edged out my desire to throw that hunk of poo against the wall. Now then, last night I purchased the Super C from a local guitar store and I love it. I run any one of 3 guitars with either Dimarzio Super Distortions or SD Invaders into a Marshall AVT150H. I play high gain crunch metal. Between the gain setting of '11' on the amp and the super-hot pickups I was skeptical of how this little feller would work. After tweaking the threshold knob a bit and chugging away I was floored. I could rip Zakk Wyldeish harmonics and flow Slayer riffs with mad gain and sustain. I even experimented with how long a bent note would sustain. I was absolutely floored. This unit is AMAZING!!! My sound was completely unaffected. I then tried my clean channels and was again very happy with the results. It's a shame I can only give this thing a 10 because it rules!!! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT BUY THE HUSH PEDAL!!!!! Save the extra clams and by this unit. You will be happy you did. It is more than worth it.

I've had it two days. I wouldn't gig with a backup because it seems pretty solid. We'll see how that goes.

Playing aggressive metal that sounds like Hatebreed, Slayer, Pantera, and Sepultura, with a ton of gain and super-hot pickups I needed something that killed all the humming and hissing. I've played guitar for about 17 years and haven't been this satisfied with an effect unit. The fact that my tone remains intact has me sold. The hush pedal sucks, an Alesis Micro Gate won't work for the amount of noise, my Digitech RP10's gate chops off my notes. This unit destroys them all. If someone stole this unit I would beat them, wait till they healed and do it again. I will own this unit and/or it's successors as long as I play. BTW....I don't work for Rocktron. I was just extremely skeptical and now extremely pleased.

Very easy to use. The manual gives you everything you need and is not hard to read, i.e. not like stereo instructions.

I bought this from Musicians Friend (big mistake). They sent it to me with a Euro adapter. When I called them back, they said this is how Rocktron ships them now so I had to deal with it and buy a USA adapter on my own.
I contacted Rocktron and they shot me back an email within 12 hours!! Jim said M.F. was full of shit and asked for my address so he could send me the right adapter ASAP (at no further expense to me, may I add). DO NOT ORDER FROM MUSICIANS FRIEND... THEY SUCK. This is the 3rd problem I have had with them... in a row. American Musical is just as bad if not worse. FYI: Go to your local dealer, show them the catalog price and, if they want your business, they will match it.

Bought it from Musicians Friend (mistake #1). Got it (late) with an overseas adapter! M.F. insists I have to spend another $30 to buy one that will work in the USA. So why did they even bother sending an adapter in the first place??

This thing is set up as simple as can be. There are two knobs. One controls the HUSH section of the unit and the other controls the Threshold level of the gate. There are also two buttons that are for bypassing the unit completely when a gate is not needed and some other function that doesnt make sense to me. Overall i was up and running with it within a matter of minutes after plugging in.

This thing solved a problem i've bitched about for over a year now. I use the HUSH through the FX Loop of my Mesa Dual Rec. Tremoverb and I have it set up so the noise gate is on for both channels. For over a year now i've complained of my amp having too much noise. The high gain noise was one thing but i also started getting a buzz/hum sound through the speakers and I never was able to find the problem. A few months ago I bought a Boss NS-2 noise gate hoping it would be a cheaper problem solver but it wasnt. The thing helped a little but at the same time produced a more emphasized background hiss. I finally saved up enough to afford a HUSH and bought it. The thing wiped out all my high gain noise PLUS THE BACKGROUND BUZZING AND HUMMING. It also allows natural decay of notes much better than any other noise gate i've seen. I was very surprised. I even tested the unit by cranking my 100 watt Recto to high volumes and it still maintained an effective gate on my noise. I still need to tweak it to get it perfect but its solved my problem.

Bought it brand new. I'm not worried about the thing breaking cuz racks are tough and you have to really abuse them to make them damaged.

Overall i'd say that anyone that owns a high gain amp setup should own this thing. I didnt believe it would knock out the noise this well. Rectifiers have a reputation for being noisy and this unit is a must for it. The thing needs an on/off switch. I cant imagine what possessed them to make it without one.

Getting this unit setup to sound right at first was sort of annoying. I run it through the effects loop of a Mesa Dual Rectifier on the red channel only. Getting the send and mix of the fx loop set right along with the volume and the noise gate was aggrivating. But once set it was easy. Manual is pretty useless.

I swear by this thing. I have not found another noise gate that can touch it. The HUSH really only effects your tone if you have it past 1/3 the way up. Between that and the threshhold you can have this thing set to let a note naturally decay and feedback all night long, but as soon as you mute the strings it shuts up instantly. I can even roll back the volume and it still doesn't chop the note (obviously as long as I don't roll to much off). This thing totally kills unwanted feedback between chops and pauses when you mute the strings. For the high gain stuff I play this thing is a life saver. Like I said I swear by it.

I've had it for 4 years and never had a problem. It's been left on overnight numerous times (it needs an on off switch) and has many hours of play on it. I really don't worry about it screwing up.

I play mainly heavy stuff, but I would recommend this unit to any one who plays high gain stuff or noisey amp and doesn't like to deal with unnecessary feedback. I've been playing 11 years and I'm a tone freak and I use this thing, so just to let you know this thing can be set to not screw your sound. My only squabble is why in the hell is there no on off switch? You always have to unplug it. I would definetly buy one again it got jacked. I gave it a 9 because of the switch. Rocktron did a really good job with this unit.

I use a Peavey EVH Wolfgang and a Tele with EMGs. They go straight into a TriAxis. I use the Super C between the TriAxis and a Rocktron Replifex. The Replifex goes into a Mesa Boogie Simul 2:Ninety.
When you use the HUSH you can hear a difference in your guitar's tone; it's not always what you want it to do, but I've found the HUSH filtering to help reclaim some of my TriAxis patches that seemed too noisy. The gate on this unit is essential for players using high-gain guitar settings at loud volume levels. Unlike the other reviewer who said this unit cuts off his guitar at the wrong time, I think that once you have it set up properly, it will work well. Personally, I like the way the gate clamps down the signal when I stop playing. My TriAxis is noisy when set on high-gain patches, and the Super C does exactly what it's supposed to do.

I think you can depend on it and wouldn't need a backup. If you or your road crew takes care of your rack, this unit shouldn't break.

I play hard rock and heavy blues for over 20 years. This unit is a great match. If it were the only thing in my rack stolen, I would definitely buy another, but would check out the competition carefully. I wish this unit had MIDI control, because like the other reviewer, the Super C has one setting, and you have to modify your clean and dirty sounds to use this unit on both tonal styles.

It's really easy to use. It has 2 knobs on the front. One for the HUSH section, and one for the GATE section. The HUSH section is useless, but the gate section is great. The only thing I don't like is you can't use it with different channels if the levels are a lot lower. The only thing I don't like is the length of the adapter cord. It's about 5 feet, but I don't have it in a rack and it's kind of a hassle somtimes.

I use Ibanez guitars with DiMarzio pickups (x2n, pro-track, and a super 2), into a Crybaby, into a Peavey Special 212. I also run a Boss GE-7 in the loop. I use Monster Rock cables from the guitar to the wah and the amp, and Monster 100's for my loop. It's very quiet (it's a noise gate!!), and does it's job well. That other dude doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. A lot of the top names in music use this unit (that shouldn't really matter, but it proves it's not a toy). The gate section is great, but it doesn't work like most gates. It won't cut off a note if it's set right. I can hold bends infinitely (with enough distortion and volume), and it won't cut them off. I play brutal metal and it kills all of the noise I get from using a ton of distortion.

LAME, it is a BAD NOISE-GATE...It ruins the ENVELOPE of your guitar
and to get rid of HUM is impossible...USE A "BOSS NOISE SUPPRESSOR"
INSTEAD...It can stop his when you squelch it out and cut down on
clarity...WORSE THAN "DOLBY"(tm) NOISE REDUCTION...Too EXPENSIVE
and definitly not worth it...
