easy as pie. The only advice I have is that you MUST get a power supply with this pedal, it reacts horribly when the battery starts to fade.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing is very effective in reducing feedback and noise in front of my amp and kills virtually all noise if I use it in the loop just not feedback. I really can't see where people say this thing doesn't work other than maybe the battery issue, this thing works wonders and is a good value. It doesn't seem to affect my tone at all except taking the noise out which is a good thing.

I had a MXR line drive\gate before this and I liked that but this thing let's the notes decay naturally and doesn't squash my tone at all. It seems to be rugged and does what it's supposed to so I think it's an excellent value.

1 knob...figure it out

Marshall 74JMP head, Hot British tonebone, SG///You need to use a 9 volt adaptor being that as a battery dies, your tone goes bad. If you are in a high gain situation and have a problem w/ feedback, this is a great pedal. Just play with it and tweak it. I have an SG (feedback problems). The hush is perfect for a guitar that squeals like the SG. It will NOT alter your tone if you manage it the right way. I still get long sustain with it. I think people try to use it in a low gain setting. You CAN have a loud heavy sound with no backround noise, and have the same tone. The boss NS2 is a joke that chops your tone. This will not chop your tone if you have the 9 volt adaptor. I can roll with intentional feedback from the note that I hit. Just manage your gain and hush knob accordingly.

Reliability : 10
No probs yet..

It cleans any pedal and distortion noise. You need to use a 9volt adaptor to keep the fresh tone and turn the dial according to gain amount.

I'm using the two channel version of this pedal. Very Easy to use! Two knobs, one for every channel. Just turn them until noise occupies :)

Sound Quality : 3
At first I was very satisfied with this pedal, but shortly I was experimenting a bit with my equipment and found my perfect sound!
All I had to do is turn off this crappy pedal!
It reduces the headroom of your sound a lot! It's hardly recognizeable when you make the on/off test, but try playing with and without for some time and you realize, this noise-reducting pedal even reduces your sound!

Reliability : 8
Seems like it can resist some stage experience :)

I've testet a BOSS NF-1, but it is too weak for my noise level :(
The Rocktron Hush can suppress my noise but destroys my sound, too :(

Not as easy to use as you would think. Most people using it just plug it in and crank the knob all the way clockwise--WRONG!!

You have to balance the need to cut your noise level with how much your signal decays/sustains. The easiest way to do this is to;

(1) put the HUSH pedal at the end of your effects chain--whether you're using an effects loop or not. (My amp doesn't have an effect loop, so I just put the HUSH at the end of all my effects, and plug the out into my Vibroverb.) Crank the knob all the way up (clockwise).

(2) turn on all your noisy effects (overdrive/distortion/gain/or whatever is noisy) just the way you would use them live or in studio.

(3) start playing (just strum or whatever) and SLOWLY turn the knob counter-clockwise until the "noise" you are trying to suppress is too loud. At this point, if your sustain is reduced too much, continue to tweak until you have a live-able balance between noise and sustain. Mark your level/spot with a pencil or grease pencil in case you bump it accidentally.

Note: I use this box for my harmonica microphone in order to reduce feedback, and this adds another great use for the unit!

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using the following setup:

Various Lee Oskar or Hohner harmonicas into a vintage 1940's Astatic 200 microphone
-or-
1962RI Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster (modded to Esquire specs), G&L F-100, or Danelectro DC3
-into-
Morley ABY, Boss TU2 Tuner, MXR Phase 90, Ibanez TS9RI, Dunlop Crybaby Wah, Dunlop Jimi Hendrx Classic Fuzz, Boss DS1, Danelectro Daddy-O, DOD equalizer, Rocktron HUSH, all mounted on a Furman SPB8 powered pedalboard
-into-
1963RI Fender Vibroverb and/or Line 6 POD (directly into PA).

There are many chances for noise in my setup; I run mostly single coil pickups in my guitars (except the G&L F100), and the vintage harp mic isn't exactly a silent, pristine microphone (which makes it perfect for harp!). Plus I run one or more overdrive/distortion pedals at once at given times, and occasionally use the EQ as a volume boost.

Since adding the HUSH pedal about two years ago, I have had little or no problems with noise or feedback. When I do want feedback (for whatever reason), I just turn off the HUSH and put my axe in front of my amp.

It all goes back to that delicate tweak you must find to balance noise vs. sustain. Mark your spot, but be ready to adjust according to the (changing) level of your other effects!

Reliability : 10
I have had no reliability problems with this unit.

I haven't dealt with them directly.

I do like their other effects and plan on adding a Short Timer delay and perhaps a Banshee to my amalgamation at some time.

I play Texas Roadhouse music (blues+classic rock+outlaw country=Texas Roadhouse) in a band called the SCREAMIN' ARMADILLOS. We were described by one fan as ZZ Top and the Fabulous Thunderbirds touring with Waylon Jennings (I took that as a compliment).

I would definitely get another one if this goes AWOL.

Ease of Use : 10
As long as you understand what this pedal is designed to do/not do, it's easy to use and works great.

Sound Quality : 10
Don't compare this to a noise gate. This won't cut your sound sharp, it removes excess noise from your signal chain as well as high gain pre amp hiss without losing the sound quality.
Used in the fx loop of an amp, it works flawless, and to my ears keeps the original tone intact. People submitting bad reviews for this product simply don't know how to use it correctly. Simple fact.

Reliability : 9
No problems so far.

A must have device in any high gain live amp setup that's gonna be played loud, not players who never venture out of their bedrooms. Nuff said.

Ease Of Use is an understatement. One knob. Can it get any easier? If you can't figure it out, then there's a manual included.

Sound Quality : 9
WHen I bought this box, I was expecting a noise gate type of effect. It is not a gate. It works more like DOLBY NOISE REDUCTION (remember cassettes?) or DBX compander more than a gate. When you stop playing your guitar, it instantly downwardly expands the noise. It doen't make it totally silent, but it makes a huge difference. As far as these people talking about it sucking your tone away, I have NOT had this problem. I find it to be very transparent. my setup consists of a Carvin Legacy half-stack, Ibanez RG320 guitar with Dimarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton pickups, and various flangers, phasers, and other analog stomp boxes.

Reliability : 10
The thing is pretty solid.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar and other instruments for 23 years. I have had alot of experience with all different styles and lots of different gadgets. Mostly metal, psychedelic and shred picking. If you are looking for a gate, this is not it. If you are looking to improve the quality of your signal to noise ratio, this IS it. I do alot of recording, and it gives me a more natural sound that's easier to control than a gate. Notes do not get cut off. Somebody else said this, but it's worth repeating: ALL THE BAD REVIEWS HERE MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND ALOT OF USED HUSH PEDALS CHEAP. I'd say grab one if you consider yourself a bit of an audiophile.

It's easy to use. Whether or not it's useful is another topic.

I tried this pedal out in a store in Dover, NH for about an hour. I was very excited that the store had one in stock and I ran down to check it out and fully intended to buy the pedal. I play alot of clubs, I use single coils, and I have a pretty large board of analog effects. I get unwanted noise in about 50% of the rooms I play. I was very excited for this pedal to do what it is supposed to and I went to the store to check it out. I put it in line after my 7 effects pedals, which I brought with me, into a Musicman amp. The pedal truly does get rid of buzz, hiss, and general electrical noise. But, unfortunately it takes an enormous amount of your tone with it. I tried every setting on the dial from zero to 100% and no matter which end of the dial you're on, when the Hush pedal is turned on, the tone becomes noticably dead. It was as if I had placed a giant wad of cotton in front of the amp. And the transient attack of the notes were audibly compromised. Bottom line, the pedal does what it says it does, but does some other things as well, and they're not at all desirable. I'd rather turn my volume down between songs and put up with some buzzing during performance than have to deal with the delayed response and muted and dull sound caused by this pedal. In the pedal's defense I'm willing to bet its function improves the louder you get. I got reasonably loud in the store and the pedal still failed in my view. But I bet if you used it in a really loud rig, say, put it in front of Warren Haynes' amp at full volume in a large theatre - the problems I've described might be less in evidence.

I'll never know.

Well, their adds are misleading with respect to this pedal, but I have no experience with rocktron otherwise.

Maybe the rack version is better???

1 knob...come on, do you really need the manual?

Sound Quality : 7
ok first i have to explain my equipment and why i bought this pedal...i modded my ibanez g-10 guitar...took the tension spring for the bridge out the back cavity of the guitar...ripped a wireless trasmitter apart, stuffed it in back cavity, wired the on/off switch to the pickup selector toggle (so it turns on when the pickup switch is all the way down), and soldered the input directly to the humbucker...crappy guitar + crappy wireless = one loudly humming wireless setup...

so anyway i bought this hoping to eliminate the hum from the wireless signal...(i'm running the wireless into the amp's input, and just the pedal in the effects loop...i use the distorion on my amp's head)...and i must say that it did supress the hum...now its not totally gone, but its definatly doing its job...admittingly my distorion does sound a tad bit wimpier, but its nothing you'll notice unless you sit down and try to compare...i give this pedal a 7 for basically doing what i wanted it to...

Reliability : 9
seems to be built tough...i actually am gigging without a backup...so i give it a 9...

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them...

Overall Rating : 7
play a mix of rock and roll and r&b, with some punk riffs thrown in here and there...like i said earlier, it basically does what i wanted, and doesn't totally destroy my sound...so i'm happy...but then again i've only been playing 7 years, what do i know?

One Knob, One switch, input, output. If you can't operate this thing you probably don't have the brain capacity to even plug in your guitar straight to the amp.

Sound Quality : 9
Great! But it depends on what you are using it for. I have 3 electrics: 71 strat, 51 Gibson ES125 and an OLP MM-1. I only use this on the Gibson ES125. Since that guitar has one P-90 and is a very large boxed hollowbody it normally gets feedback way to much on an overdrive channel. The Hush takes care of that real quick but also maintains great tone. It really helps to turn my ES125 into a great dirty blues guitar. When used with my strat it does help when the volume is cranked for live shows. But for practice amps (solid state under 50 watts) it doesn't really do much. The OLP has humbuckers so i doesn't really need any sounds reduction. My recomendation would be add this to the end of the effects loop or, use it in combo with a boss LS-2 or similar line selector. It helps to be able to take it out of the loop for some parts of songs.

Reliability : 10
pretty solid....don't think i'll have problems.

Don't know....hopefully won't have to use them

Overall Rating : 10
Good pedal. Very helpful for hollowbody guitars, great for effects loop cleanup. At first i thought this pedal was a waste but when i got it adjusted into my setup it sounded great. Since everyone has a different idea of "good tone" you have to mess with it for a while.

Don't let the poor reviews turn you away. Simply learn how to use this pedal.

Sound Quality : 10
I use Gibson SG, Fender Strat, Ibanez Roadstar and Ibanez musician guitars, and my amps include Mesa Rectos, Mesa RoadKing 4x12 cab, Randall RG100sc and a Laney LC-15R. Front end consists of Mesa V-Twin preamp, Ibanez Tube King Overdrive, Tech 21 XXL and Radial Hot British ToneBone.

My styles range from Heavy rock to classic rock to Pop to classical.

It is NOT noisy if you learn how to use it. Most people do not understand how to use this pedal. Iknow exactly what the problem is. You must give it a strong signal and start the settings low, incresing them until you get good noise reduction.

Repeat: Keep the input going into the Hush pedal HIGH.

Reliability : 10
I depend on it and have no doubt that it will last many years.

I would gig with it with no backup.

I have been playing electric guitar for thirty years.

If it were lost or stolen I would replace it with another one just like it.

I love being able to play using allmy real tube overdrives and preamps without all the noise. I use it in my home studio for quieting my guitar tracks. It works perfectly.
