Ease of Use : 9
Some Knobs and buttons, really easy to use, makes fun

Sound Quality : 8
Since Rocktron is a very good Company the Multiplex does not disappoint you!
The Distortion is great sounding and you can get all the range from clean funky chords up to the hardest Metal-Sounds, no problem...
The Effects are also very good, use f.e. the Exciter for those Zakk Wylde Sounds

Reliability : 9
It's build from metal, hard as a rock... But you don't step on it, do you ;)?

Customer Support : No Opinion
No Idea, never dealt with them, but Rocktron is not a "no name", there should be support if somethings wrong

Overall Rating : 9
I play almost every style of music and use this rocktron mainly for recording as it is a preamp! Glad to have it!

Couldn't be easier. 10 knobs, 1 for compressor, 4 for distortion/EQ,
2 for Chorus, 2 for Exciter and master volume.
Getting a good sound is relatively easy, especially with the chorus.
The only tricky part in the Multiplex is the EQ. It doesn't have
a very wide range and it tends to flatten the sound.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using the Multiplex in a Roland GP8 processor's FX loop
and with a Boogie Studio preamp.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I find the distortion excellent.
It's really easy to dial sounds from slightly breaking Overdrive-ish
tones into totally heavy Distortion. And the EQ...well, I really don't
know where Rocktron came across coming up with such a miserable EQ to
fit into otherwise a very nice box. You really have to try make
some sort of "compromise" with it and try to correct the flat tone
with another EQ or your Amp's tone controls.
The Chorus is really effective and excellent. A TC Electronic
it's not but kicks over a regular Boss pedal anytime.
The Exciter brings new life into slightly distorted and totally
clean tones. No problems with that.
Well, since my Multiplex is stuck into an effects loop, obviously
I cannot use the compression (simple one knob operation, but like
you can imagine it being a Rocktron compressor, a very effective and
sustaining little devil) and the master volume is worthless. Overall,
I'd say that the Multiplex is not a good stand alone unit, but used
with other gear, it definitely brings out loads of dynamics and
clarity into the sound.

Reliability : 9
Like I said before, it's a one rackunit device with Ten potentiometer
controls over the effects, so it's really a question how the connectors and the controllers can take it. I've bough mine used
two years ago and I had problems with some of the potentiometers (knobs) because they were clearly used up. I'd estimate that
the Multiplex came out in the late 80s and I bought mine a decade after that... realistically said it's a well made unit.
There's really no need for back-up and overall I'd say once you get
it working perfectly, you're very unlikely going to run into any
trouble with it.

In the beginning I didn't have any idea how to get the effects switch
via the Roland GP8s external control jacks....well, I emailed
the Rocktron lot and it turned out that they didn't have much of an
idea either how the devil works. Ok, so at least they replied me,
that's nice. But, I still had to figure out the whole thing by myself.
No good.

Overall Rating : 8
I paid around 60-65USD for the Multiplex. The beginning wasn't very
promising, but once I got it working, it sounds great (minus EQ)
and works great. It's a part of my sound and I have to say I wouldn't
have problems of buying another one in case this one gets nicked and
I'd be ready to pay double to what I did, up to around 130USD.
You're most likely to come across a Multiplex for alot less than that
and keep in mind that the potentiometers are clearly the weakest part in this unit, so if you come across with one that has all knobs working, I'd recommend it.

All knobs, varry basic effects. easy.

Sound Quality : 3
good and not so good. the compression is great if your stuff is puting out too much bass. the distortion is worthless and extremely noisy. the chorus is ok, just varry weak. the exciter "phazer" is also just ok. the only things i use are the compresser and the phazer.

Reliability : 7
yes you can depend on it, but dont, buy somthing else.

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent talked to them yet

Overall Rating : 5
the only time ill bring it out is when im useing a bass sound that sounds like its about blow my speakers "compresser" or add a bit of flavor to the mix "phazer". i got ripped off big time and i just paid $75 bucks for it.
