I use the pro-q into send and return of a Brunetti xl r-evo 60 watt. Evrybody knows about the quality of brunetti's handmade amps and theirs sounds but if you are looking for a real metal sound you need a pro-q rack to compress your tone and boost your mid range.
I've never found something better to make it.

This is by far the best sounding enhancer I ever heard. (yes, I did try a few) Very easy to use. Even the presets are ready to use. Can be used in a wide variaty of music styles. (from country to metal)

I compared it with a BBE, Behringer, Big Bottom (forgot the brand) and a Boss pedal (which is realy a waste of money) This one did sound great directly out of the box. I used it with Koch combo's, my (old) mesa rack setup, and my new (Lexicon G2 plus 284) rig. I'm sure it will do it's work with almost every amp.

Did never let me down, but, yes I can do without it if breakes down on stage. Althoug I would miss a lot of "body" in my sound. If you did get used to the sound, and you would turn it off suddenly, you realy miss the high's and lows.

I play mostly rock oriented music, but as I wrote before, I'm sure it will work in a lot of music styles and on many different amp and guitars. I use it with several Strats, mostly equipted with active EMG's. But this thing also makes my two passive Strat's sound like their active, but still keep their charater.

This thing is spectacular! It's pretty easy to use even with out a manual , though that may be because I've got two other pieces of Rocktron gear in my amp.

I'm using it in my rack with (in signal chain order) a Marshall Valvestate 80+80 power amp,Rocktron Pro Gap Ultra preamp, The Pro Q goes here and a Rocktron Xpression processor with a Furman to clean it all up. For guitars I am using various B.C.Riches. If you want that heavily eq'd , processed guitar tone this is the piece to buy! You want tone like Dimebag? Wayne Static? Dino Cazares? Yeah? Go buy one!

I play high gain , old school speed , thrash metal. Think Slayer , Megadeth, Testament. I've got a neck thru B.C.rich NJ Mockingbird,a Platinum B.C. Rich Bich,a limited edition Body Art B.C.Rich "Pile Of Skulls" Junior V and an old assed B.C.Rich Ironbird Rave. Marshall and Rocktron rack and a Beringher 4X12 cab loaded with 4 100 watt Jensen Audio speakers. If it was stolen I would definiley buy another one if I could find one. I believe Rocktron discontinued them in the early 90's. The Pro Q is the most important piece of gear (tone wise) that I have ever bought. Once you hook it up and play through it for a little bit and then hit the bypass button you immediately hear how weak your tone was before it!

Just a turn of the dial and you are ready to go. Very easy. It brings out the life in your amp. I never thought an EQ/Exciter could do this much for my tone. There is only one version of it. If you want a BBE but don't want to spend the cash on one, the PRO-Q will do that and much more for way less money.

Beautiful sounding. Make sure you use a good guitar and amp. If you use a PEAVEY RAGE with this, you need you have your PRO-Q taken away. Upset with an all-tube amp and it won't disappoint. I use mine with an Orange head and also my Triaxis preamp. Hush is excellent. Very useful and needed.

The guy who wrote that it is hard to use. He is nuts or he is still living in the 1950's with no master volume dial. Easy. Sure, you have to sit down with it for five minutes to get the hang of it but that's all. There is only one version of it.

I use it with my Peavey 5150 and my Mesa boogie Triaxis, Mesa 20/20, Jackson, Gibson Les Paul, and Strat. In go out into two Orange 4X12 cabs. The Pro-Q helps me EQ the sound I want and the Hush feature is very usefull:See amps above.

Well, I bought this 'cause I couldn't find anything that would eq properly with my gear. Also the Hush feature is something so worth it that I'd like to hook it up to my wife and putting the setting on max. One can only dream, right?
It does what it says it is going to do. I love the presets and being able to customize my own settings. Rocktron makes great and well-made gear so my hats off to you!

This is an easy unit to get great sounds out of. Many of the presets are great or just need a little tweaking. It does take a little work to dial in your own custom tones, but once you've got them, you've got them. The manual is very acceptable.

I ran a 1989 Charvel 475 Special guitar into a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp, to a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp, into two Mesa Boogie 1X12 cabs, closed backed. Put a Digitech 256XL multieffects in front of the Rocktron Pro Q in the Mesa's effects loop. Also used a Mesa Boogie Abacus Midi foot controller. Later on, I started to leave the Digitech 256XL in the effects loop and patching the Pro Q in front of the Mesa Boogie. I felt this was more real and beefy sounding, but less slick sounding. With the built in Hush, it is quiet. Some settings are too extreme, but this shows you how flexible the unit is. The problem I had with this unit is that it sounded too rich with effects. Using it alone with an amp works fine. It sounds awesome, and it's more flexible than any EQ system I've ever heard. Use some big butt pedal like the Boss Metal Zone and feel the rage! Big Bottom! The Pro Q may be too rich or sound too "digital" for some. Beware of that. But this could be the unit for you.

At the time I was more into rock music overall. The scooped death tones you can get in conjunction with a Boss Metal Zone are incredible, although this may sound sterile to some. I think it's a good match for all styles, but you do need to work it out with your whole rig to know what is going to work for you. I've been playing for 20 years. Now I own a Charvel 475 special, a Rocktron Voodu Valve, a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp, into two Mesa Boogie 1X12 cabs. If I owned one now, I would by a new one. Again, I love how killer it sounds, but hate how it's too rich to run with other effects for my tastes. My favorite feature is not any particular parameter or function, but rather how you can use it for stereo imaging. I think it outperforms the BBE Sonic Maximizer. My big regret is that I sold it years ago, and now I want it back! I slimmed down my rig, going with the Rocktron Voodu Valve. My tastes have changed and I want less effects nowadays like modulations, pitch shifting and delays, and more simple stuff like a little reverb and EQ. Or in the Pro Q's case, A LOT OF EQ!!Overall, I love this unit. But really check this out before you buy it. I could see how players could really love or really hate this unit.

This unit is easy enough to operate, but it sounds like complete shit. It is no problem manipulating the frequencies and the noise gate, you just spin the dial. But the problem is getting a good sound, it's next to impossible. This effect sounds terrrible at high volumes with a high gain amp and the noise gate is so horrible that it is actually better to turn it off and deal with the noise.

I tried this unit out with a 1980s Peavey 4x12 cabinet and a 150 Watt solid-state Rexx 1602 amplifier. Without the Pro-Q the sound of my amp isn't bad, it's a bit thin, but the distortion is heavy and tight and works okay for high gain metal sounds. But with the Pro-Q hooked up the amp sounded terrible. None of the equalizer frequencies worked well, they all sounded bad. The Pro-Q made the amp sound muddy, tinny, loose and sloppy. I have spent hours tweaking the Pro-Q and I have been unable to find anything close to a good sound. The noise gate is fucking horrible. When I use a high gain setting on my amp and suddenly stop playing, the noise gate turns on after a split second, so that there is all this noise when there is supposed to be silence, and then suddenly the noise disappears. So if you're playing and want to do quick stop, you get a rush of noise for a moment and then it vanishes, preventing you from achieving a tight sound. The sound quality of the Pro-Q is total shit; there is no quality in it's sound at all.

I play heavy metal and have been playing guitar for about 8 years. In that time I've tried out lots of gear and this is probably the worst piece of shit I have ever owned. It does not work if you use moderate to high amounts of gain because the EQ sounds horrible and the noise gate just fucks up your sound. This unit totally gets in the way of your playing because you can't have tight stops in your music. Even with the noise gate set to full (to kill as much noise as it can) you get noise after you stop playing which soon disappears and sounds awful. The Pro-Q didn't sound that bad in the shop because it was at low volumes, and since I was searching for a unit to enhance my guitar sound and kill noise, I bought the Pro-Q. At the time it seemed like a good deal, but soon after checking it out at home I realized how bad the unit was. I bought the unit on impulse, which was definitely a bad decision. I've had the unit for a few years, but soon after buying it I took it out of my rack and it's been shoved away on a shelf collecting dust ever since. I'm going to trade it in for credit and take whatever little money I can get, because I know I will never use it again.

the phase and phase mix is what this is all about. makes your modern clean sound sparkle like nothing else, but the eqs are not warm and dynamic enough for vintage sounds. scooped metallers will dig it. use in moderation, and walk away and come back much later with fresh ears or you will overtweak.
