Very similar to other Rocktron equipment. Once you get the hang of it it's really simple. I bought it used and it didn't include a manual but after fiddling with it for a couple of minutes I figured it out.

Guitar > Boss Metal Zone Pedal > Multi-effect > Pro-Q > Power amp. After you use this thing, there is no going back! The difference is ASTOUNDING. When I set the Pro-Q to bypass my cranked-up Marshall JCM 900 1960 4x12 sounds like a friggin 15 Watt 8" radio. Me and my buddies have a studio where we have recorded about a dozen or so projects so far and every single guitarist is just in awe of what the Pro-Q does. The sound quality is brilliant and since the unit has the Hush system in it, it's quiet too (very important for me since I play pretty extreme metal among other things). This is an extremely powerful piece of equipment and you have to be a bit careful so as not to damage your speakers. Another thing; in the beginning it was way cool having a guttural "bassfrequencies from hell" guitarsound and this machine is up to the task but after a while you start making a bit more "human" sounds.

I haven't gigged with it yet but my belief in sturdy Rocktron craftsmanship is unabated.

Rocktron doesn't really seem to be interested in helping out people with some of their old gear.

This thing is an absolute must for every guitarist (and our bassplayer seems to like it too, Rocktron really should build a similar thing for bassplayers). I basically use this as an enhancer and I think it's great that you can tune in the frequencies yourself. Don't come telling me about BBE or Behringer or any other exciters. I have those also but they just don't stand up to the almighty Pro-Q. Considering the price I got it for this box is of fantastic value. I see this box on sale constantly for 200$-250$ and I'm a cheapskate so my advice is this: if you see this box anywhere near 150$ or under I don't care what you have to do, sell your mother, steal from your kids college fund, you should get this box, and if any of you are thinking of stealing it from me, better think again. You're gonna have to pry this thing from stiff fingers.

Dead simple, most settings just require the tweaking of two knobs - one to select the parameter and the other adjusts the value. Hooking it up to your rig is easy, too...mono or stereo in & mono or stereo out. Place directly after the pre-amp for best results.

This follows a JMP1 and precedes a BBE which I have switched to bypass lately - I have found that the Pro Q has pretty much made the BBE redundant! I can get a range of sounds/effects from this such as merely 'freshening or brightening' the signal (ala BBE) through to more drastic tonal shifts. I was extremel happy with my rack before I had this unit, I could achieve most of the sounds I wanted (rock, metal, jazz, funk...), the Pro Q has simply made each sound more potent whilst at the same time adding some tonalities I had previously looked for but am very happy to have found!
I bought this unit second-hand simply because it was there, I had no idea what it did or what it looked like, but I'm sure glad I did! The built in HUSH works a treat, too.

No problems so far. I've had an Intellifex for 5 years and that has been trouble free, too.

Sent e-mails several times but the response has taken up to 5 days. They have been helpful, though.

For the price I paid, this was a steal! I checked out some old adverts in magazines I have kickin around and they were advertised for #320 - #500 back in '86.
I'd have no hesitation in buying another of these (regardless of whether this was nicked), if I could find one. It has all but replaced my BBE, has better sound, it's programmable, full midi control etc. I'm not sure why Rocktron discontinued this item, but it was a big mistake in my opinion.
