Getting a good sound out of this is as easy as twisting a few knobs. Patch editing? Manual? Whut r thoez? This thing has a (hopefully) bipedal, binaural manual: YOU! (in this case, MEE!) It's as simple as that!

I've used this with a few things, it's now in my main guitar rack providing the ol' Digitech Twin Tube with its voodoo magic before it goes thru the stereo FX unit into the power amp. I use it, as far as I can tell, sort of like a parametric EQ on 'roids, to sweeten the sound and give it the "shape" I want. It is great for dialing in various guitars for the "sweet spot". I rarely (if ever) use the built-in Hush, it blankets the sound a little, and the noise gate on the preamp works for what it does. It's also good for enhancing vocals+other instruments on live mixes and recordings, adding dynamic range to second-gen tracks, remixing cassettes to CD (which just plain sucks no matter how you slice it...) after the noise filters---it's just plain useful all around! I would rather have this thing in my guitar rack than an Aphex or BBE, and so there it is! I can't rate it on sound quality, really: it works with what's there. What it does for me, however, me really like-um!

This thing has a little road-rash, with one broken corner in a mounting ear. Also, one of the pot screw collars is broken and spinning with the nut (they're all Alps units), and I haven't bothered to go in there to wave the Super Glue Magic Wand yet. I'll do it when I get a Round Tuit. It's not exactly on my list of imminent priorities. Considering its beat-up state and how well it still works in this condition, I'd have to say it's pretty damn good and reliable. I cleaned the pots just for GPs, and made a note to myself to fix that one crack-pot next time I was poking around in there. I might actually get to it sometime this year. Imagine that!

"Nope, nope, nope. Not me. Didn't do it!" Big baby buzzard on this one! If it ever breaks, I'll be sure to mention if I got the schematic from them without issue...

It works with just about anything and everything I've thrown at it so far, which is pretty much as described, along with a few other things I prolly done fergitted about or wanted to.
I wish it had a little less road-rash and a pot stem collar I didn't have to fix. No biggie.
If this thing were stolen, it would be with my rack. To quote my favorite extra-terrestrial: "Earth-shattering KABOOM!" Think fusion bomb breaking hydrogen bonds in seawater, multiplying yield, and eventually causing another Ice Age by supersaturating the atmosphere with moisture and steamed people-kibbles. Irregular periodic harmonics in Earth's rotation cycle and field dynamics. Huge caldera of fused ejecta. Lots of big, pretty green glass chunks. Hair falling out in clumps. Patchy skin cancers. Glow-in-the-dark flora and fauna. Sterility in higher-order life forms due to dimerization of amino acids in DNA strands and other such simply wonderful day-after-effects. Watson with a cracked Crick, or maybe a Cricked crack to go with the crooked crock. Drinking water making Geiger counter squawk like Theramin and needle bounce at 78-speed. Lots of dead fish, pre-cooked, washing ashore. Roving hordes of huge, aggressive, mutated insects feasting on dying flesh as the world screams in final, convulsive agony. If this sounds like a really unpleasant scenario, imagine how I would feel before I blew up! If someone were to replace it before it all went critical, it would act as a damping rod and you might see a bit of Cherenkov blue, but I'd be operating in safe output range again.
Tell ya what, just shoot me first. It'll be easier for everyone!
I am not rating it a ten. It just doesn't do that for me. Aw, hell, I'm a noodge anyway! It probably deserves one for putting up with me and my shenanigans! I thought of replacing it with a parametric EQ, and throwing it into the studio rack, but I simply cannot bring myself to even the thought of doing it. It's the "Aunt Jemima" on my pancake pile!

This is really the secret weapon of my sound. This in conjuction with the ADA MP-1 gives a beautifully clean distortion. I get all the gain I need with no excess noise. I use with Music Man and Ibanez guitars.
The exciter simply makes your sound come alive. Most people use BBE Maximizers for this type of effect, but this blows the BBE out of the water.
