good sounds from end to end, in my opinion. i started by turning all the knobs to zero, then turned 'em all up (what the hell) and thought both extremes cool. lots of finger room around the knobs. didn't buy with a manual, but what for? maybe, just maybe, if i was in a mood, i'd say the unit is too big; i.e. a BOSS pedal is more "hand" sized, and easy to pick up.

Sound Quality : 9
i record, and don't gig with it. Parker Fly Deluxe straight into a Peavey TubeFex, then recorded directly, or with the Rampage somewhere in the send chain or in front (gasp!). i don't pursue cleanliness much, (dirt offsets digital), and have only noticed that there's none with this pedal compared to BOSS. use it for goth, industrial, rock, metal, white zombie-ish i guess. initially i took it easy on the treb and bass controls, then one day cranked 'em both and loved it. haven't moved them since. i keep the Sustain at the top 'cause it's good and noisy, then use the scoop at either 20% or 80% for two very different strong tones. 80% likes my Marshall. i have to adjust the level quite a bit between those two though. at some scoop positions this thing is loud. can't compare it to a lot of distortion pedals, but it's worth mentioning that it blows the doors of the digital AND tube distortions in the Peavey TubeFex for screamin-ness. mostly i remove the distortion from TubeFex patches now and use the tubes clean -- often with the Rampage. comes off awesome on recordings: huge and mean.

Reliability : 9
it doesn't get banged around, but the case must be 10 times as thick as my best pots. i have nightmares of being hit in the head with this thing...no lie!

haven't needed any.

i like to chug, and the Rampage chugs better'n anything i've tried. i'm tuned down to C# and it doesn't mind. the high solos have a fair amount of screaming sustain too. i've paired it with wah, whatever, you name it. i don't like it on vocals much -- prefer other distortions. i love that it's built solid and doesn't feel like a cheap pedal (weight, jacks, knobs, switch), also the heavy edgy distortion and wide frequency range. EQ can be cut all over a mix without ruining the balls. it's never in the way, although it would be handier stuffed into my TubeFex somehow. i may never part with it. it's been worth the money for sure.

I use 3 different guitars. My Ibanez A18 with Fishman electronics sounds unreal. My Les Paul Classic plugged in direct, sounds awesome. My $69 Kramer Focus from MusicYo.com rocks through it. I've been playing for over ten years, and have had numerous amps and effects. None of my previous effects equal the amps distortion. There's the AGX technology which keeps the amp quiet, even at high volumes.

Features : 10
This amp has a clean channel and an overdrive channel(footswitch sold separately). The amp has two 8" speakers, built in stereo chorus, reverb, and a presence control. This amp can be connected to an 8ohm cabinet.

Reliability : No Opinion
I just got the amp 2 weeks ago, but no complaints so far.

You are not going to find a 50 watt, stereo amp for this price. This amp is worth 3 times what I paid. I love this amp. I would buy another in a heartbeat if anything happened to it.

Kick ass sound! Lound, wide range of tones, definetly an amp with empasis on the bass end, witch makes palm muting sound powerful and full. Clean sound good to. Built in distoriton is nothing to brag about, a petal is better.

Features : 8
Two channel, 80w solid state, one 12" speaker(8ohm), dist., reverb, mid scoop, line out, effects loop, headphone jack. This amp has all the features you need to do just about every thing you can do with an amp this size. It is also loud! And an excellent amp for Punk rock and any other distrortion applications.

I have been playing for 3 years, mostly punk rock and some hendrixy stuff. I own a fender 112 amp which sounds great when used as a slave amp under the rocktron. I use various epiphone and squire guitars with this amp, they all sound great through it. This amp is great for small gigs and all practices.

I think this amp is new in 2000. After searching around for combos I saw this little rig on an auction at a very low price and figured I couldn't lose...Man was I right!!The amp is 50 watts, with Rocktrons' AGX technology(automatic gain expander, it houses 2 custon 8" speakers(don't let that fool you), 2 channels Clean & Overdrive(footswitchable), seperate gain & level for each channel, plus built in reverb, presence & chorus,as well as 3 band EQ and a headphone jack. the clean channel is very bright, and the overdrive section has real TONE! I've played a lot of combos over the years, and I never wanted to spend $300-$400 on any of them...they just didnt have tone.
At the same time I can't justify $800 for a Mesa practice amp(I spent more than my limit on my good rig). But this little amp has killer tone..FAT! Volume doesnt seem to be a problem either..I took it to rehearsal and made out just fine...Did i mention the amp also has 2 speaker outputs so you can plug you speaker cabinet into it??
The amp is solid state...but after playing it..you'll wonder....

Sound Quality : 9
I'm playing Jackson electrics and Alvarez acoustics..
My stlyes vary from James Taylor to Godmack and Staind.
This little rig does it all....and very compact.

Reliability : 8
I can only say that Rocktron products I have owned in the past have always held up very well..I've never asked them for service.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Hvae never dealt directly with Rocktron

I've been playing for 23 years...I currently use a Rocktron 120 power amp, Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp(TONE!), as well as various other outboard geaI'm also curently using a PRS HG-70 4 x 12 Speaker Cabinet(Less than 250 made) with custom made Celestions(50w..so I was told)
I've got the matching PRS HG-70 head as well, but it doesnt have the tone like the Mesa.
My Bandmate and I went out looking for combos about 2 weeks prior to my purchasing the Rocktron...we played Marshalls(Buzzsaws) that were in the $300-$400 range..as well as a few other brands...the only combos we liked were the Mesa's at $700 and up..Needles to say we came home empty handed....Now since he's heard this....My bandmate is getting one too!

easy to get sound out of it. once you familiarize yourself with the 5 adjust knobs it is easy to tweek the sound

I use an sae pre-amp running into a adcom power amp which feeds 4 bose 901's. I also have a crate gx130c stereo amp but rarely use it. I like to play mostly heavy metal. white zombie, static x, korn etc.and was looking for the hardest distortion I could find and still have smooth, clean, not to brittle, quality sound. not like the electro-harmonic's big muff (which is super heavy and will rattle your teeth) but, something heavy like that, that actually sounds good. I have a danelectro fab tone which is real nice for leads but, gets to muddy sounding to do any heavy rythm work. I have several dod distortions too.I should also mention I have several rack mount effects too. I recently bought a zoom 510 which has some real heavy sounds to it. real nice. but just a hair to brittle for me.maybe I just need to get a tube set-up and that will solve all the problems. anyway, getting back to the rocktron. the sound quality blew me away. NOTHING comes even close. so far as noise? I don't know what the other people are talking about but, this is by far, the quietest distortion box I have ever heard.outstanding! now the bad news. it won't do korn or limp bizkit or white zombie or any real super heavy stuff. at least not on my set-up. it will do an almost perfect ac/dc sound. it will also do a real nice rush and pink floyd with the usual chorus, reverb and delay mixed in. this pedal has a unique sound that no other dist. pedal has.perfect for leads too. but, if you are looking for the korn sound you better keep looking.

Reliability : 10

I like the hardest rock I can find and the rampage just won't do it for me in that dept. but, I sometimes like to do other things and the rampage is the only one I would use for all others as nothing else will touch it in quality of sound and tone. with the possible exception of the fab tone when doing pink floyd type leads but it could never be as quiet as the rocktron.

This pedal is ver straight forward and it is easy to dial in the right sounds. I bough it used for $130 and I didnt get an instruction manual.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a danelectro through a Crate solidstate 130 watt 2x12 amp and it suits well with that setup. It is not all that noisy but all distortions have noise. I have the sustain(distortion) at about half way turned up and the scoop all the way up(gives a full, smooth sound) It is great for 311, metallica, rage against the machine, blink 182 and many others

Reliability : 9
This pedal is made out of aircraft quality material and you would hurt yourself trying to break this! It is the most solid built pedal ever!
The first day I got it it fell out of my gig back on to the pavement and it was perfectly fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not dealt with the company

Overall Rating : 9
I play hard rock, punk, pop, and everything in between and it seems to crank out the tones. If my house were robbed the rocktron pedal would be the first thing i replaced because they are becoming so hard to find.

This amp sounds GREAT! I tried many other practice amps (Crate, Fender, Marshal, Danelectro, Pignose, Vox, and others) before I bought this one, and hands down, this sounds the best of them all. The clean channel has a very rich sound with no noise, and the distortion (although not something I use frequently) is very good and sans excess noise. Turn it up LOUD and you get some very strange sounds, but like I said, I'm not much into distortion. The treble, mid, and bass adjustments really work, AND I can tell when I change the tone controls and pick up switches from my guitar, which is something other amps couldn't do. The reverb sounds good, too. From an amp this small you can't expect really great sound, but Rocktron really has hit the right combination of compontents when they built this amp, it sounds great!! Far better than you would expect from a small practice amp.

Features : 8
This amp was made in 1999, in Korea. It puts out 40 watts, which is more than enough for my use at home in my room. It's small and light weight (as any practice amp should be). It has two channels, overdrive with it's own seperate volume and gain knobs, and clean. Rocktron has it's own circuitry on the distortion that is suppose to keep it quiet. It has treble, midrange, and bass controls, and it has a reverb control. The speaker is an 8" Velocity made by Rocktron. It also has a headphone out.

The amp doesn't have a foot peddle or effect in/out plugs. But, this isn't too much of a problem because (I'm told) you can daisy chain these from your guitar to the line in at the amp. Although, an effects in/out would be a nice feature. Tremelo would be a nice feature as well (but, that's hard to find on a small amp these days).

For what this amp was designed to do, a small light weight practice amp, it does it very well. I bought it without knowing a thing about Rocktron (I wanted to buy a Vox Pathfinder, because it has tremelo), but now that I've used it, I'm very impressed!

Reliability : 8
It looks pretty rugged. I've taken it with me on several occasions. I've only had it for two months, but haven't had any problems with it at all. It's well built with metal corners, on all corners. The handle (rubber strap, metal attachments) seems well attached. The knobs all move well and are not loose. It's a well build little amp. I'm giving this an 8 only because I haven't had it too long and really don't know the long term, yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The company I bought it from (a local maker of very high end custom guitars) said he's never had a problem with the company.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a very nice little amp. It sounds great and is well built. If it were stolen, I'd buy another Rocktron (maybe a higher end one with effects in/out, though). I like it best because it sounds so good. For the money I paid, and how it compared to the other amps of this size and price (see "Sounds" for amps I compared it to), this is the best sounding amp of them all. Even though I liked the tremelo feature on the Vox and was about to buy it, it didn't sound near as good as this amp. I'm glad I bought the Rocktron Rampage R20

Vey cool pedal. The scoop can be a bit of a pain, but turn the knob while a note is playing, it explains itself. Everything else is very simple. Best distortion pedal I have ever used. It is truly a shame that Rocktron stomp boxes are being phased out. At least that is what Rocktron told me

Sound Quality : 10
I used this with an John Petrucci Custom Ibanez, ESP Horizon 200 LTD, Laney 50 watt half stack. It is noisy, just like a distortion pedal is supposed to be. The tone is very thick. Just like it should be. The sound can be varied alot. From a razors edge to a butterknife. Clean, high pitch or a very thick and chunky sound, this is where the scoop comes into play

Reliability : 10
It's a huge chunk of blue anodized aircraft aluminum. Basicly, a sledgehammer would cringe at the thought of hitting this bad boy. I would gig with it without a back up. Have to, they are no longer available ;) All the Rocktron stomp boxes are built like tanks. They are how a stomp box should be made.

Customer Support : 10
Actually, I called Rocktron trying to purchase this pedal straight from them. I was told by a very nice lady that they are no longer available. The stomp boxes that you see in stores now are all that is left, as far as Rocktron goes. Rocktron had none of them left, luckily a small shop here in Tampa had one. So their customer support was good. Very nice and truthful.

Overall Rating : 10
I play as fast and furious as I possibly can. Basicly thrash metal. Basicly I live by the adage of "If it's too loud, your too old". All Rocktron stomp boxes are great pieces of engineering. recessing the knobs was the first great thing. You cannot accidentilly bump a knob and turn it. Material is next, as mentioned earlier, it is aluminum.
I had a BOSS Hyper Metal before. It died about 1 month after I bought it. If you can find them, buy the Rocktron boxes. They are so much better than the BOSS stuff. I just purchased a Digitech 2120 and am going to try running the Rampage through the effects loop on it. I figure that 2 pieces of equipment that are as good as these 2 are should sound great together. Lets hope so anyway, becasue I want to keep the Rampage as a part of my rig. I just love it.

This pedal is great! It has 5 knobs: Bass, Scoop, Treble, Level, and Sustain(Distortion). The names tell what the knobs do, except for the "Scoop" knob. Most people think that this knob scoops out the mids, but actually it's a boost for the mids(30db). And for the manual, it's just tells the function of the knobs and little things. Basically, doesn't really help you.

Sound Quality : 10
My current setup is: Peavey Predator->Crybaby 535Q->Crybaby->Rampage->Tech 21-> Boss DS-1->Daddy-O->Boss BF-2->Cool Cat->Dan-O Tuner->Rage 158. This pedal has just replaced my DS-1, for the main distortion unit. The Rampage has a great sound. It can go from a light overdrive to heavy distortion or from GooGooDolls to Pantera or anything in between. I mostly play Silverchair and Creed and this pedal nails it right on the dot! It can get you that smooth or hollowed out distortion and anything in between. As for noise, it has some, but humbuckers will take that away. Plus....it's a distorrion pedal; It's going to have noise.

Reliability : 10
This pedal is built like a tank! You could drop it from any distance and it would still remain intact. Also, I wouldn't use a back-up. Although, I just got the pedal, so I don't know the battery life. But, I will probably end up buying an adapter anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't delt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, this pedal is awesome! I love the sound I can get from it. It's a very versitle pedal, and anyone looking for a pedal like so...check this one out. If it were stolen...I would definately buy another one. And for the price I got it for...I couldn't refuse it. Through my long search for a pedal like this...I also looked at the Tech 21(which I bought(very good pedal) and the Rocktron Blackjack. The Blackjack was a waste of my time. It was just a horrible pedal. If your looking for an all around, versatile pedal...consider The Rampage!!
