Simple, 5 knobs: bass, scoop (mids), treble, level, sustain (distortion). The `scoop` knob might throw some people off because a lot of players `scoop` the mids out and play with just bass and treble but this knob is the mid control and can give a pretty big boost in mids (30dB) which allows for a thicker sound. As for the battery acess, you do have to unscrew two screws on the bottom but if you've had any Boss's you know the drill.

Sound Quality : 10
I have an older Ibanez from the late 70s/early 80s (model `ST100`) with a Seymour Duncan JB in the neck (!) and Duncan Invader in the bridge. I run this into my shitty ghetto Crate amp. It sounds like a growling monster, this is probably the most bad ass distortion box I own. There's slight backgroud noise when you're not playing but most people that are opting for a heavy sound realize that that usually comes with the package. Nothing a simple noise gate (pedal or rackmount) couldn't take care of. That's only if you need to sound professional for recording or gigs otherwise you probably wouldn't give a fuck.

Reliability : 10
Made of steel, you can't fade it.

Overall Rating : 10
If you're looking for a heavily distorted sound, metal-esque or not, this will do it. The only other thing that really compares in features and all is the Boss Metal Zone which isn't my cup of tea. If you like the Metal Zone you might not be into this but if not this should satisfy. Some bands you can make it sound like ...Coal Chamber, Deftones, White Zombie, to name a few. The setting I've been using here lately is: bass: max, scoop: 4 o'clock, treble: 2 o'clock, level: whatever you need, sustain: max.

You plug it in, it sounds good. The scoop control is kinda strange, so I just cranked it and left it, since my amp is set for fairly high (6-7) mids anyways. Manual is bare-bones and simple. Annoying battery access (gotta unscrew two screws underneath).

Sound Quality : 9
It's pretty fuckin' noisy, but.. it's a DISTORTION PEDAL, dear god they're supposed to be.. I use an Ibanez RG-560 or a Schecter 7-string Avenger and a Peavey Ultra Plus stack. I run this pedal into the yellow (crunch) channel with the gain on 4 on the amp and the pedal's "sustain" and "level" cranked. I boost bass a tad and cut some treble... to me this pedal sounds very much like White-Zombie, which I love.. coupled with the warmness of my all-tube amp, I think i can get the best of Solid-state (crispness and agressiveness) and tubes (response and warmth).. totally awesome.. by the way I play METAL! Metal up your ass!

Reliability : 10
It's made like a tank.. solid, reliable.. all the rocktron shit i've used is great, I'd definately use without a backup.

No comment. Never needed never used.

Overall Rating : 10
I tried also a Boss Metal Zone, DOD Death Metal, Zoom 510, Big Muff-Pi.. I liked this the best, I still love it.. it's awesome. I also own a DOD Grunge (hate it, bouhgt for $5), Boss DS-1, and a Digitech RP-20 in the FX loop.. If it was stolen, lost, broken.. i'd buy another. hell i might just buy TWO! I love it I love it, I sound like I'm raving, but hell, this is the happiest I've EVER been with my tone. I have "the sound!" (for me at least!)

As Simple as you can ever hope anything to be.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using it through a Marshall VS-100, which is so much better than the VS-100 distortion. The crunh you get on this beast is insane, play anything in dropped-D, and hear your guitar roar, amazing for stuff like Silverchair, deftones, and any heavy music of the sort.

Reliability : 9
It's F#$%ing solid steel, to break it, you need to be as hard as Popeye.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm only borrowing it of my friend, but as soon as I return it to him, I'm going to get one, NO HESITATION. I mostly play Silverchair and Deftones, and this IS THE ONE AND ONLY pedel I'll ever consider using. Please tell me if you can find a gainier, crunchier, clearer and more well defines pedel out there, because I doubt you cam.

Easy, turn a few knobs your set. Manual doesn't help much

Sound Quality : 10
I use this pedal through a Fender Princeton Chorus Amp and it sounds like Zakk Wylde From Ozzy. Its not noisy. The Harmonics are really great and the distortion is just brutal as hell. It can be compaired to a boss Metal Zone however it sounds Clearer

Reliability : 10
The thing is built like a Tank! it could probably make it through a nuclear explosion.

Never had to talk

Great for metal or hard rock, If it were stolen i would find the person and beat them with this pedal since the corners are sharper than a razor

As any other pedal it is fairly easy to use. But in the manual there is no suggested settings or anything of that sort. The knobs include bass, scoop, treble, level, and sustain.

Sound Quality : 5
I use a Les Paul guitar, and a Crate 40 watt solid state combo. I give this product a low rating because it is not very versatile. When you are not playing it has alot of buzz and hum maybe its my guitar or amp but it is still pretty noisy. At high volumes you get a really bad sounding feedback: (feedback that sounds like you have a michrophone taped to a speker: very high pitched peircing sound). It sounds too grindy and there is not very much bottom end.

Reliability : 10
I know i can depend on this pedal though. It has a very rugged anodized case. The knobs are also recessed so it is pretty hard to accidentally tweak them while you are playing. I use an AC adaptor because it uses up batteries pretty quick. The switch is also rugged and hasn't failed yet and I don't think it will.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 7
I would not buy this pedal again. I have a friend that owns a Boss Metal Zone and it blows my Rampage away. I would not recomend buying this pedal. I am thinking about buying an EQ pedal which will probably help clean up the tone and maybe the terrible feedback.

It takes a while to learn how to tune it. The is one knob, the "scoop", which can be hard to set in properly. Beside that one there aint no problem using it.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using a Marshall mosfet 100 and two boxes with the same brand. The amplifier in it self sounds like shit but with the pedal you can get a pretty good sound. I've tried it with a Peavey head and and two 4*12 and then it was awesome. The sound can be described as the one used by Crowbar. It's fat and powerfull with a monster puch. If you are thinking of solos there are a lot of better peddals but if you are into fat rythm guitar this is the best you can get.

Reliability : 10
The pedal has never failed me and allways works. the knobs are well secured by allu and the pedal seems to be able to handle a great deal of damage.

I havent been in need of any.

Overall Rating : 10
I play metal and that is what the pedal is made for. I get the best sound for this style of music that you can get. For this amount of money that is.I've been playing for about six years and i've had the Rampage allmost a year. I chose between this one and the BOSS 2Metal Zone". The Rampage has a bigger fatter sound that suits me better.

It took me about 3 days to figure out the "mid scoop" (adjusts the frequency rather than the level) control, but other than that it's pretty self-explanitory.

This is a really great rhythm guitar pedal, but it''s kind of an aquired taste. You definitly can''t get this sound out of any other pedal or amp overdrive. Very low noise. I''ve had it for 2 months now and I''m still getting cool new sounds out if it. Definitly try this one out!
