This unit is quite versatile, and it's easy to get real good tone quality. Getting around the 3 main knobs is a little confusing at first but if you don't rush it's straightforward. The manual is very clear and covers every aspect of the unit.

Sound quality is excellent, especially for going direct. I bought this for playing straight into a pa system (if I gotta bring a front end, I refuse to bring a separate guitar amp) and still having authentic amp tonality. The Voodu valve shines at this- very good clean, crunch and full blown overdrive, acceptably good wah, super time based effects, great stereo imaging, good tremolo, great tap tempo delay (only needs 2 taps), and extremely comprehensive real time midi control. You can set up a controller pedal to fade from clean to drive while maintaining the same volume, double or half echo tempos while still "on the beat", plus all the typical stuff. The only bad parts of this unit are a virtually useless (from a guitar perspective) compressor, (just add one between the guitar and the input), and the "wall wart" power supply.

Rock solid, I've had it for 2 years, never a problem, never even bring a backup. This and a midi control pedal setup are the whole show.

I spoke to them early on (I think it's likely I'm the one who discovered some of the weirdness with the compressor because they we're unaware of it when I called- turned out to be a software glitch, and they may have debugged it since. Very friendly folks.

I would buy it again. I swapped a Chameleon for this (under the 30 day return period from a catalog retailer) because it seemed to be all death and distortion, and I wanted something more versatile and "tubey". I'm still not sure how much the tube has to do with the sounds, as the unit is running on 18 volts- not much for a tube, so I imagine that much of what's happening is digital. Nevertheless, it sounds convincing. I bought this to replace a GP-8 thru a H&K red box, but before the Boss GP-100 (with COSM) was available, so I've never compared that.

Quality of sound, ease of use, and the technical support I've received from both the retailer and the manufactuer is exceptional. My only complaint is that the reverbs and delays are of great quality, but somewhat generic. I have also purchased the Rocktron Intellifex to handle complicated reverbs and delays.
