Very easy to use and to get a good sound out of it. Plug it in and use your ears to tweak for the tone you want. Knobs - Volume level, overdrive, tone, and bass boost. Pretty simple.

I use this pedal with a MusicMan RD112 with a Tele, Strat, Les Paul, or Epiphone Lucille when I need some crunchy overdrive. It works well with single coils but thicker with humbuckers (of course). Very quiet pedal on or off. I compared the Gas808 to a 1982 vintage Ibanez TS9 with the coveted JRC4558D chip that I own. I compared the two pedals for a couple of hours. The Gas 808 nailed the sound of the vintage TS9. Unbelievabley sweet creamy overdrive. The guitar's sound comes through without being overshadowed by the overdrive. No need to search for a vintage TS9 when you can buy the Gas808. I am selling the TS9.

It's been on my pedalboard and been used regularly for practices and gigs without a failure. Rock solid metal housing. I could probably hammer nails with it by day and still use it for an overdrive by night.

Never dealt with the company. No need to. The pedal works perfectly and who needs a manual for this pedal?

Been playing in bands for 30 years. I need to create a variety of sounds and styles of music in my band - 50s, Beatles, classic rock, country, funk, alternative, and more. I need a good overdrive pedal that lets my guitar's unique tone come through. This pedal delivers the goods with flying colors. If it were stolen, I'd get another one or a vintage TS9 with the JRC4558D chip because I think that the Rodenberg is every bit as good as a vintage TS9.

Working with the GAS 808 is a snap. Of course, anyone familiar with a tube screamer can figure this out right away. If not, everything is clearly labeled on the bottom of the pedal. It's a cinch getting amazing tones out of this thing. It'd be harder to get a bad sound out of it. In short, this thing sounds amazing - but more of that later. There is no manual but everything you need to know is on the pedal or on Rodenberg's site. Did I mention this thing's got true bypass?

Yes, I'm a fanboy, albeit a middle-aged one, of SRV and his amazing variety of sounds and tone. Of course, Hendrix too. I play almost exclusively on my ESP custom-tailored Strat and want sounds that those guys get. This pedal does that and more. The overdriven sounds from the GAS 808 are far more lush and fuller than the $170 Ibanez TS 808 Reissue I swiftly returned after buying it. I returned the Ibanez TS because after reading and hearing all the hype I was shocked how thin and small its sound was. I was totally underwhelmed. A friend lent me his GAS 828 (a double 808) and it had all the sonic texture and frequency range that I had wished for after my major disappointment with the Ibanez 808. For one thing the bass boost on the GAS 808 is exactly what I was looking for and it is switchable which is great. The tonal range of the tone control takes up where the Ibanez leaves off also. Honestly, I don't know why these things aren't flying off of Mr. Rodenberg's shelves faster than, well, anything. I think when people find out what this thing sounds like, for the price, they'll think twice about paying $165 - $245 for a moded Ibanez or Maxon TS. Did I mention this thing's got true bypass? Quiet as a sleeping baby.

Built like a battleship. Thick, brushed steel and aluminum casing. A full size amp-style pilot light, an industrial-strength foot switch and nothing plastic to stomp on and crush. 9V battery or AC adapter. I'd be shocked if this thing went out on me unless a wildly gyrating, groupee-wanna-be spilled her whole bottle of beer on it.

Mr. Rodenberg was extremely responsive and responsible in my many communications with him. I'm not sure if he'll have that much time to write emails when word gets out about his products. But seriously, he's a really nice, helpful guy. A bit modest too. The guy is brilliant. Hey, look - I've never written a damn interview on one of these sites in my life. If I'm taking the time to write this, you should know that I mean every word I say.

I play rock, blues & soul. I had been in the dark about amplifiers and tube screamers my entire 37 years of playing guitar. I thought just having a blackface 1965 Tremolux was enough. But once I bought a new, modern tube amp, one with an overdrive channel, I starting regarding tube overdrive as something good. As a kid I thought anything but a clean sound was trashy - yet I was listening to Hendrix, Clapton, et all from the Sixties & onward. Why I didn't consider achieving a Holy Grail tube-driven tone, is beyond me. One summer afternoon while playing with some musicians in an ad hoc band for a backyard birthday party, the other guitarist said, "Try this," and plugged me into a tube screamer. That was close to a year ago and I've been wanting my own TS ever since. I feel lucky that the return of the much-hyped TS 808 Reissue wasn't the end of the story. I want to thank my friend, who lent me his GAS 828, and of course, Ulrich Rodenberg for showing me how to have more fun playing guitar than ever before. The key word here is "fun." Get the GAS 808 and you'll be having some, too.

This pedal bring to you your ears very warm sounds, especcialy if you use like me a tube amp...I have yet to find the perfect sound, but it will be funny to mix with the rest of my pedals. What I like most is that I tried first time with just guitar (a Godin and an artigianal stato/style guitar)and amplifier and it just works in a excellent way!!

I've playing for almost 15 years and I changed may times my effects...I think Gas 808 will follow me during my gig; I love to play Fusion, blues and I like to play sometimes '70 rock.
It's nice to play when you ear the right sound!

Product is relatively easy to use. Tone and Level controls are on the bottom of the pedal which is not a bad thing if you gig alot. No accidental setting changes. The bass boost switch and light dimmer all work with ease.

I'm using this pedal with an Ibanez RG321MH and a Charvel Model 2 in chain with a EH reverb pedal to a Small Clone Chorus into a Carvin MTS 3212. This pedal is true bypass and is extremely quiet!! The sounds that can be achieved are amazing...I have yet to find the perfect sound, but that is just because I am finicky. In comparsion to my Ibanez TS808, this pedal offers more versatile gain options and with the bass boost it makes those bottom end sounds easier to achieve.

Fabrication seems very strong! Don't see why this won't last. The attention to detail in the construction shows excellent craftsmanship and detail.
I don't gig but if I did I would probably not use a back-up.

I've only been playing electric for about 4 years, but I have very defined ideas about the sound I want to achieve. This pedal has by far surpassed everything else I have tried to get the "perfect to me" sound. I have trried many amps and pedals and I'm sure I'll try many more, but this pedal has earned a permament place in my rig. If it were stolen I would not hesistate in purchasing another.

Very easy to use. Good sounds are at all settings on this pedal. The level and tone controls are underneath it and the overdrive level is facing away from the footswitch. The end result is that you won't end up accidentally changing a setting on stage. There is also a level on the blue led light and a bass switch on the side.

This pedal sounds incredible! True Bypass, totally silent when off or on. As I said, there is not a bad setting on it. This is not a cheap distortion unit. It's a pro quality pedal designed for overdriving a tube amp. I run it with an old Marshall JCM 800 which sounds great on it's own. I use hand built guitars with Gibson and or Dimarzio humbuckers . I have tried Boss DS-1's, Modded DS-1's, Boss SD-1, OD-3 and all seemed to add a stomp box kind of signature that sounded kind of artificial. Good usable tones but nothing close to the GAS 808. The 808 doesn't sound like a stompbox. When used with the gain channel on the Marshall 2205 2 channel, It's like another gear for the channel that doesn't sound like a pedal.Just sounds like much more of my amp. I would think this would be true with a blues setup also. It gives you more of what you already have in a big way. It does not have any grain or harsh fizzyness to it. It also has a Bass switch on the side so if it's used for a lead boost, you can dial in really fat sounding stuff that has great bass presence even on the high strings. It may be classified as an overdrive but this little gem will produce a nice smooth overdrive all the way to a nearly metal tone. At least with my jcm 800. I only use it with the gain channel so I couldn't speak on it as a stand alone drive pedal but I would imagine the results to be good. I could see this working great with a Fender amp and a Strat for killer blues stuff too. After trying most of the reccomended pedals to kick my marshall, I have indeed found the right one.

It's hand built in small quanities by one guy in Germany. The Gas 808 is a product of Rodenburg Amplification. Judging from the hand picked materials and looking at the beautiful soldering and all aluminum housing, I'd figure it to last for a very long time. I have not had it long enough to give this category an honest rating.

I have played in a classic hard rock band with two guitar players for almost 25 years. I have had more pedals and gear than I care to remember! Bottom line.... my rig needs to stand out when I need it to. The marshall on it's own does that ok but can get lost in the mix of a busy song. I tried alot of different boost pedals and this is the best I found. It lets me keep my setup simple for stage use where it counts. Instead of having this pedal and that pedal, and combinations of pedals, I step on one switch and I get my point across. Finally, No I don't work there, this is not a bullshit review done by the secretary at Rodenburg Amps. He's in Germany, I'm in Wisconsin! I just feel when somone builds a great product it should be known. I'm just sayin that with all the hype about guys Modifying pedals and charging outrageous prices, if your lookin for a pro pedal with pro sound, You should try a GAS 808.
