Ease of Use : 9
This is the newer Brother of the GAS 808 (which is kinda Clone of the TS808). This has got more gain than the 808. Otherwise i think it's similar
It's very easy to use and get a good sound out of it, but you CAN get not-so-good sounds. Problem here is the Tone Control, which apart from being a great feature is very much a bass-and-muffle-control if not set to highs. at least with my setups. good to have for some, useless for me. crisp and clear tone only, when set to full treble. it seems, the original guitar-tone is on full treble, why the other settings here add bass and as i said - muffle.
Second thing - but Ulrich Rodenberg changed this already with newer pedals: the controls for drive and tone are on the pedal rear, not on top, so firstly it's not easy to remember/see your settings and second - it's a bit too easy to change settings. As i said - newer versions got the controls on top.
No manual needed!

Sound Quality : 9
Sound Quality with the tone level fully up on treble or quite near it is fantastic. it's warm, from light, almost clean boost to a good singing distorted tone. in fact it doesn't sound like a tiny pedal as it is. it's very overdriven-amp-like! i won't say tubetone... but near it.
The unit is very quiet and only hisses with drive all the way up. even then it's quite good. My Rat is much noisier.
There's a good chance to get Gilmourish lead tones. very warm and smooth distortion.
As i mentioned, the tone control is useless for me, but as it doesn't effect my tone if i don't want it too, it's a great special feature for special sounds or different setups.
The Gain knob is very small - hard to use on stage and no chance to see where it's set. ears must help here!
There are buttons for more bass (which i don't need) and to increase the already blinding blue LED (not needed either).
These switches would be great for other, more useful things... maybe a suboctave or a second drive mode. But as the sound of the unit is excellent, i just leave the two switches off and enjoy playing.

Reliability : 9
It's small, sturdy and handmade. i think it's pretty reliable. the switches and controls are a bit too easy to switch and change. Otherwise it's just a great pedal.

Customer Support : 10
Bought this directly from Ulrich Rodenberg and he was very friendly and helpful. Great guy with great ideas!

Overall Rating : 10
I play very different styles and therefor the GAS 909 suits my sound most of the time. if i need more dirt or grit, i prefer the double muff, but for warm boost, drive or lead tones, it's perfect!

i play for over 17 years.

Did i mention, that the pedal just looks plain great! and it's small, which is good also, cos i am a modulation freak and therefor need space all the time :-)

I may purchase an upgrade sometime, cos of the controls and Ulrich Rodenberg always thinks of new great features. But the GAS 909 is great at the moment!
