Although some would have you think that that it takes a doctorate to operate this guitar effects processor, this is simply not the case. Once you spend a few moments reading the instructions which come with the unit (or from Roger Linn's webpage) one can use the Adrenalinn with ease. The matrix is relatively straightforward, although admittedly more complex than the two or three knobs most guitarists are used to having on their guitar pedals.

Many of the amp models sound pretty good, but I certainly notice a difference between the amp models and my tube amp. I typically use the bypass function and turn the pedal on for specific effects when I want them.

My Adrenalinn 3 actually had problems after about 6 months. Roger Linn's FAQ page online, however, indicated that some units were experiencing problems. After I contacted him telling him about my product failure, he quickly responded and mailed me upgraded chips which fixed this problem. I was very happy with the response time and the cordial interactions with Roger Linn.
I am confident in my product now that the chips have been upgraded.

This is an incredibly powerful tool. I consistently use it as a click track with my church's band, and often use an algorithm to add some nice texture to a song.
The Adrenalinn 3 is an inspirational music making tool which is much more powerful than I'm sure I even understand.

Like any multi-fx processor, it comes loaded with a bunch of presets, some of which are useful, and some of which are not. But that's where the similarities with other effects boxes stop. This unit comes with a built-in drum machine that can be edited for two measures (down to the 16th note) plus the filters and effects can also be edit in sync with the drum machine. Change the drum beat and your effects preset completely remaps itself to be in sync with the new drumbeat. This can change the most useless presets into something usable and vice versa.
Editing patches is next to impossible without some knowledge of filters and sequencers/synths or without a connection to a PC, save for the most basic of changes like adjusting volume levels or tempos. The manual is sufficient: if it were any bigger it would be overwhelming, if it were smaller it wouldn't be useful.
This is the first version with the headphone jack. One nice thing about the Adrenalinn line is that they are relatively easy to upgrade, just swap out chips.
I give it a 7 because if they made it easier to edit on the fly the pedal would be the size of a full pedalboard, but they do provide a way to edit via PC.

I don't know if I can get my favorite artists' sounds out of this box because it truly is like no other pedal. All the effects are at least passable, and the delay, chorus, talkbox, tremelo, and rotary are all good. The flange swooshes a little too much on the high end, but I bet I can edit that out. Some of the filters and autowahs are a bit odd, but those also can be tweaked to sound better, I just have to buckle down and learn how to edit. Plus there are a bunch of weird spaceship and old-school synth sounds that might not be useful but are cool.
The drum machine is cool. Lots and lots of usable sounds, even more useless ones. Some of the patches sound a bit fake, but I hear the upgrades have more sounds and more realistic ones.
I run a Fender Strat through a bunch of pedals into the Adrenalinn and out to a Fender Pro Junior. There is very little tone loss between my effects chain and running direct into the amp.
The sequenced effects sound better with open chords, no strumming, so the sequencer can handle the rhythm. So compression would be nice addition. Also, you can't get cool symth sounds without an octave effect, which is missing. But the upgrade chipset has better amp sims, better drum sims, compression, reverb, and an octave fuzz, so I will probably be doing the upgrade.

Seems pretty sturdy and dependable. Some of the knobs and buttons are a bit flimsy, but they're far away from the footswitches, so I am not worried.
I'd gig without a backup on this because I already have a board full of traditional pedals that would suffice for all but the weirdest sounds.

I've emailed their support line and gotten responses fairly quickly and they were helpful. The upgrade chips are readily available and seem easy enough to install.

I play mostly in a few different praise bands. I bought this so I could have an fx box with a drum machine. It will suffice for that and then some.
I already covered what I love about it and what I think it's missing, and the only other thing I wish it had was a tuner. The Adrenalinn III upgrade has almost all of those things.
If it were lost or stolen, I'd probably try and snag another Adnrenalinn I and upgrade.

This is one of the upgraded models with the headphone output. It is fairly complex to use, you really have to devote some time to experiment with it. This makes it enjoyable afterwards, as you have many parameters to play with. Getting 'normal' sounds (flanger, autopan, envelope follower, clean w/delay, amp modelling,...) out of it is quick and easy, though. The sequencer part can be a bit tedious, but i cannot see an alternative way of doing this except by having hardware controls for each seq step. The graphic with all the signal flow and modulation possibilities in the manual is very important, should be put in a separate card for quick reference.

I run it after several pedals (Line6 overdrive, zoom hyperlead, delay,...) and before a line6 reverb pedal, direct to board in stereo. Using Aria Pro II and Washburn guitars w/humbuckers. This unit sounds great. There's many sounds that can be useful in one setting or another. The sound is always interesting, and you can modulate it completely to suit your taste and needs. It is VERY powerful, there are many possibilities: just add the different filters, the possibility of sequencing, amp models, eq, envelope, delay, midi, tap tempo... Astonishing, and very well thought of. Many manufacturers charge a lot for just a couple of these features, and sound is not better (I had a particularly bad time recently with an EH flanger hoax, noisy as hell... being digital, the AL sounds a lot better and has an equally analog texture). You can have 3 different sounds at any given time for quick access in live situations (one selected preset, a variation when you press start and the sequence is triggered, one in bypass mode). The delay is kind of short, but useful. Pity that it doesn't include reverb, but there's only so much you can fit in in such a small package. It is not noisy direct to board (no signal on my desk when I am not playing). You can just turn it on and play for hours changing different parameters, and you can go from pristine clean sounds to totally whacked out sonic mayhem. Some amp models are very responsive to playing dynamics. And then, you also have the drumbeats. Overall, i am very impressed. An excellent unit, pretty unique. Through an amp, the unit loses part of its appeal, I highly recommend to run it direct to board.

Mine arrived with a faulty connector. However, I have used it live extensively with no problems. The pots tend to go crazy if you turn them too quickly, and the unit can freeze at start up occasionally (just unplug and plug again). Overall, it is such a magnificent sound that it really doesn't bother me much. Should have been less impressive, I would be pissed.

I run an alternative band with two albums and a third one about to be released. I had used this unit at first and was daunted by the myriad of possibilities. Used it live a lot, sometimes just as foot controller for a sequencer. Then I went back to it recently and was impressed by how good it sounds, how much it has to offer, the uniqueness of sounds, the excellent design, how inspiring it can be. I love the customisation possibilities, how parameters interact with each other, the amount of useful sounds you can get. Would buy again. I think I could run a solo gig with this thing and some pedals. Recommended for those looking at amp modellers and multieffects units, if you plan to go direct to board. And sounds good with bass, too.

Effects are good, but the drum machine is excellent. I like the how the sound syncs to the durm beats. The guitar sound is a bit weak. But I made some changes to get the perfect sound. I first run Sansamp pedal through adrenalinn. On the adrenalinn, choose bypass as an amp, and wa-lah! The tones is completely awesome, and it syncs with the drum machine. A dream come true sound. My marshalls, Feders, and other various amps do not even come close to the warmth and the variety of sounds.
I thought about updrading to adrenalinn II, but it does not have the bypass mode, and I don't like the amp sound of adrenalinn. It sounds to artificial. The amp sound is completely awesome with Sansamp. Mr. Roger Linn, think about it, and get some ideas from Sansamp as to the amp sounds, but the effects and drum sounds are very good.
If the arenalinn had midi foot controller, it would be fantastic in live situations. For recording Samsamp and Adrenalinn is a winning combo. Sound like a couple thousand dollar equipments.

I assume adrenalinn II will have the improvements i expect for

Setting sounds is a bit of a pain, but do-able. It's a small unit with knobs for navigating around. It took me a while to figure out just how to by-passs the effects. Definitely need the manual, and an external midi pedal to control it would be a help. The Adrennalinn is what it is - a guitar gadget. Very cool sounds, but IMO more useful for generating sounds at home or for recording, not so useful for live use. In fact, totally unusable for live use for me. Too much monkeying around required. This is one of those pedals that distracts you from playing because you end up going through all the sounds listening to all the oddities, and next thing you know you're out of time and have to put the guitar down...but you never really *played*

I was surprised how good the amp models and distortion-type sounds are. Much better than Roland's COSM-based models (I own three units that include COSM). The quality of the effects is good too. Lots of way wacky sounds in this box, and the sync feature is outstanding. The drums sounds aren't that good to my ear, but I only tried them through a guitar amp which is less than ideal.

I like the box, but you have to be aware of what it is. It's a noise-maker that can do some phenominal things. I would not attempt to use this as a substiture for some basic effects pedals, or even for a multi-effects unit. Even though I think it's a high quality pedal and sounds good, I sold mine because when I used it I got away from actually playing the guitar and ended up playing the effects box.

With a quick review of the manual, understanding whats what is pretty easy. Given the size, only a few controls are offered, so navigation is a little taxing. EQ does affect the sound, but not very traditional. Compared to other units, there are no lights or 'names' for quick reference to what you are using - you have to remember what preset # is what.
With all of the downsides to its size, its fits my rack desk perfectly, and can be easily mounted to a pedal board.

I'm rating this strictly as a direct recording unit for guitar - I use several different guitars into a Zoom hard disc recorder(with some decent effects of its own) and listen back thru a powered monitor system.
For those who have tried everything else 'direct' - I highly recommend trying this unit - and don't settle on the factory presets (cool for some effects, but doesn't do the models justice).
I wish the EQ was a little more intuitive, and had a little more range, but otherwise I'm very impressed. I have, or have had the Line 6, Behringer, Zoom, Vox, Digitech, H&K Tubeman, ADA spkr em. etc. - in fact I've been in GAS mode for a while, and may finally be done after finding this unit.
Most of the others are better and virtually interchangable for a heavy 'Boogie' tone (the Vox bests out some in other areas, but running a tube preamp in front of the others can yeild similar qualities), as well as a Roland JC(although I understand the II has a good one), but as far as a Fender, Marshall, Vox(good on the Tonelab too)and any old-school or blues/rock sound go - I find that the Adrenalinn direct is heads above better than any 'direct' combination I have tried - and I've tried too many. In fact its the only unit that I haven't felt the need to use a tube preamp with. The 'console preamp' is also the best 'model' I've heard - great for acoustic, but I still prefer a real tube preamp for most applications (haven't tried a bass yet).
Overall, the models direct are very believable, and are unlike any other unit I've tried.

As far as getting a good 'old-school' tone direct to disc, I've not come close with any other combination, let alone a stand alone unit.
Speaking strictly on 'tone' - if you're into strictly metal or Jazz, - this unit is probably not for you - but if you've had trouble finding that 'sound' going direct, or are looking to expand you library of sounds, chances are this is unlike anything else you've tried.

The learning curve isn't as deep as some people say, but it's not as simple as a delay pedal. If all you want to do is hear the presets, just hit Start, and you're set. After that, you'll only get so far twisting knobs, unless you read the manual. It helps if you've ever programmed a synth with a modulation matrix.
You'll want some kind of Midi footswitch to send program change commands, unless you want to stop and lean over every time you want to change presets. If you already have an effects rig with a Midi out, you should be able to send program change commands from from your other Midi gear.
The manual is pretty good, but considering that Craig Anderton helped write it, pretty good isn't what I expected. There's no Midi Implementation Chart and no spec sheet. There are some slightly grainy screenshots of SoundDiver's editors for the drumkits and sequencer, but not a lot of progamming help.
My AdrenaLinn is one of the first batch, with no upgrades, no headphone out.

My main guitars are all mahogany planks, with humbuckers. Although I'm a fiend for effects and signal processors, I tend to use the AdrenaLinn by itself, or with a delay/looper after it. For some reason, the AdrenaLinn does not always play well with others. It sounds kind of harsh if you're using another device with a pre-amp, or amp modeler, like POD, or any of the current Boss/Digitech/Korg/Zoom all-in-one pedalboards. It also seems to like a really clean amp, like a PA or a keyboard amp, for output; plugging the AdrenaLinn's outputs into the return jacks of an amp's effects loop, as one reviewer suggested, is probably a good workaround. I also use it in the EXT OD loop of my Boss GT-3.
The delay effect is nothing amazing, but it's a nice addition.
You can get rid of the drum sound by dialing up drumbeat #99. That should be on the first page of the manual.
The AdrenaLinn's amp models are pretty limited, not bad, just limited. It's more like an early SansAmp, than a full-bore amp modeler. I tend to use the Clean setting (#12), or turn the AdrenaLinn's amp modeler Off.
You can use the AdrenaLinn for simple chorus and flanger effects, but why? The Filter section is the heart of this box, and when you kick in the sequencer, the AdrenaLinn is like a new instrument. I know, lots of effects boxes have made that claim, but the AdrenaLinn really is different. Dial up one of the sequenced flanger effects, and hit a chord, any chord; if you're not impressed, you don't need this box.
None of my favorite artists use this box, as far as I know. I heard John Mayer using one on SNL, and thought it was an amazing sound.

I play electronic music, with the guitar as my main instrument; it's not Techno, nor is it really Trance music. Think King Crimson meets the Residents, with Mickey Hart sitting in. I've been playing since the dawn of Surf music, before BBD's. I love things that twist and tweak my sound, and I can always use another weird filter. The AdrenaLinn is like nothing else made for guitarists. You'll either think it's one of the coolest things you've ever heard, or you'll wonder why anyone even built it.
If something happened to my AdrenaLinn, I'd have to think about buying another one, because nothing else sounds like it. I love the filter and sequencer, I've been able to have some fun with the drumbeats, and I can live without the amp models; there's nothing about this box that I hate. The only comparison I made was between the price of the original AdrenaLinn, and the new, improved price of the AdrenaLinn II; I'm happy with my choice.

This unit is very easy to get a good sound out of-- lots of them, actually! It comes with 99 factory presets, almost alll of which are very fun and usable. I haven't gotten into editing the thing yet because the controls are not terribly intuitive-- I haven't yet had the time or desire to fool with it. However, the preset sounds are great and I think I won't need to play with it too much until I record my album this summer.
Also, it doesn't really seem to be set up to be switched on the fly-- I usually have to stop playing to turn the preset knob. I hear it can be controlled by a MIDI footswitch, and I may need to get one.

Right now, I am using an old Airline les paul- shaped, semi hollow guitar with one weird pickup (I don't even know if it's 1 coil or 2) in the neck position. I use it with my Fender Princeton Chorus stereo amp, which is a great idea with this box, as it really enhances the stereo effects.
I had to play around with where I was going to put this effect in my chain.
First I went guitar--> Adrenalinn--> amp, which was too noisy.
Then I went guitar--> amp--> effects loop out--> Adrenalinn--> effects loop in. This took care of the noise, but I had a problem with the Adrenalinn clipping and feeding back from the input volume being too high.
Now, I go guitar--> Adrenalinn--> effects loop in, and this sounds the best. The only problem is that now I am not using my amp's reverb, and the Adrenalinn doesn't have one of its own. Uh, I'll figure it out.
One cool thing about this box is that it has settings to even plug right into the board of a pA or recording console, so that might be good too, and I could just use the reverb on my digital 8 track (Korg D8).
Now to the sounds themselves-- It has tons of great sounds in it!! It has something like 12 or 16 amp models in it, and they are all very good sounding. It also has a bunch of techno- inspired filter effects that can't be found anywhere else in a box like this. It also has chorus, flange, phase, delay, etc and they all sound great. The really cool thing about this box is that it has its own built in drum machine (with pretty good sounds)-- and all of the effects can be timed to the song tempo, allowing you to do some really REALLY coool sounding stuff.
Y'know all the techno sounding guitar that's being found on recent Radiohead albums? It's in here. Pink Floyd? Yeah. Spacey blues? Yep. 80's butt rock. Yeah, that too. Fat clean Fender tones? Check. I have been having a hard time finding things this unit can't do!
Really, playing through the presets is like tuning your radio dial from the 1960's to the 2010's and hearing all the sounds in between!!
The coolest thing about playing with this box is that the songs you start jamming on already sound like they're FINISHED, real songs which just inspires me to greater heights as a guitarist and songwriter. It's not uncommon to have the sounds of drums, your guitar, and some independent synth-y sounds all together as you noodle away. All you need is a buddy playing bass and it sounds like a finished recording!!

Overall, this is the kind of effect box I had been dreaming would come along. I play music that is a hybrid of funk, blues, hip hop, techno, classic rock, and singer/ songwriter type music, and I am always trying to get sounds that are not traditionally made by guitars. The cool synth effects, timed echoes, auto wahs, filters, vibratos, tremelos, and other goodies, as well as the many great sounding tube amps in the box, make it unbeatable as a standalone processor (watch out, Line6!!)
I have been playing for about 16 years and I own lots of other guitars, effects, amps, basses, etc. Since it makes my Airline sound so great, I wonder how it will sound with my baby, the Yamaha Pacifica 521 that's waiting for me back at home. I haven't even begun to combine it with my other obsession, the Boss PS2 pitch shifter delay pedal yet.
I love to be able to just sit down with this thing and compose scads of great musical ideas on the fly-- it just lends itself to so many great musical ideas and pushes/ frees me as a guitar player to explore beyond the sounds I can get straight into the amp. The drum loops really make me feel like I am writing comlplete songs, not just licks.
I hate the fact that I can't use it with the preamp of my amp (and the reverb it gets), but that's manageable, I guess. I also really need to check into controlling it with MIDI so I can bring it to gigs. I think it will be very useful while recording, though.
I checked into other amp modelers. The Line6 POD sounds good, but it costs A LOT and doesn't have the cool filters and tempo effects that really sets this unit apart from anything like it. I also read reviews of the other popular amp modelers and none of them even compares. Considering the fact that I got this SO CHEAP on Ebay, there really was no comparison. If I lost it, I would definitely get another one in a heartbeat. I think it is going to become essential to my sound from here on out.
It would be cool if it had reverb, though.
If you are like me and you really like some funk with your rock, this effect is ABSOLUTELY where it's at.

I'm primarily a guitar player but I have ran a bass through the unit as well this unit sounds great through both. I have a vintage ibanez musician guitar with humbuckers and a ibanez roadstar2 series active pickup bass. This unit sounds better for direct recording and sampling in my opinion though I have used it as a pedal in front of an amp and still think it sounds great. The best thing about this thing is the warm filters and time synced modulation. I've programed some dope-ass filtre swept patches for the bass, world class type shit. This is going to help me out alot cuz i'm all about crafting unique tones. I've read some bad reviews from people who probably forgot what they paid for this unit or just expected too much from it. (though I was dissapointed by its lack of a true bypass) This is a ground breaking concept that only Roger Linn could have came up with. I hope this is just the genesis of the adrenalinn line and that they produce some full on pro units. The drum machine is a great feature a lot of fun great for coming up with ideas.

I bought this to use for the effects. I thought that if it did what the Robotalk pedal does and then some I'd get my moneys worth. Unfortunately it doesn't. It sounds very fake in front of an amp (I used the clean channel of my Hot Cat 30). I guess is you're doing straight to board recordings maybe it sounds better, I don't know. All I know is it sounded fake and processed.

After reading the manual and several days of hands on trial, the system is very logical and easy both with getting good sounds and patch editing. This unit is the 1.6 version w/head phone jack.
The manual is straight forward once you realize the system layout.

(Adenalinn I Upgraded to Adrenalinn II)
Using builtin Preset is a no brainer!
Editing patches requires a little light reading and some effort on your part but, the effort is well worth it.
The upgrade adds more controls to the unit via sub menus and the basic layout is better. Tools required smaller phillips head screw driver.

I have version 1.6 with ear phones jack. It isn't easy to get deep in tweaking the parameters. I even don't understand how some parameters work, after reading the manual many times. The manual is a bit complex and ambiguous in some parts(especially explaining mod. source). I have used other effects and also a synth. In many ways, this box does what standard boss or other brand multieffects or pedals cannot do, that's why it's more complex. It's relatively easier to program standard wah, auto filter, phaser, flanger, chorus, delay, distortion, amp type effects. The new version (AdrenalinnII), which I will upgrade soon, will probably be easier to use, as they promise on their website.

I use a US Fender Strat with EMG bridge humbucker and Roland GK-2A, Korean Fender Jazz Bass with DiMArzio pickups, Boss WP-20G, Boss GX-700 with expression pedal, and Fender HOT amp. The Boss GX-700 clean Fender amp modelling, which I use, is better than the Adrenalinn Fender model. The effects are much more tweakable than on a standard effects unit. I can get extremely insane effect with the Adrenalinn. One drawback is that there's no expression pedal input. Some parameters can be controled with midi control messages, but I don't have a midi controller when I'm laying the guitar:( For instance, I can't sweep the filter with an expression pedal, what a shame.. They need to find a way to fit in an expression pedal in this box. Boss GX-700 has the ability to control every parameter with an expression pedal, but Adrenalinn has the ability to control some (very few in fact)parameters with guitar's envelope and midi control/pitch bend/modulation messages. It maybe better complements a synth with onboard midi controllers and midi. I use it for non-standard sounds cause for compressor->distortion->amp->delay->chorus->reverb I use the boss GX-700. It isn't a general effects unit. It does not have a compressor. In the effect chain, together with delay and amp sim., only one extra effect can be used. I use it in the effect chain in GX-700. It complements the Boss WP-20G synth pedal and GX-700 nicely.

Alternative rock, 60's-70's pschedelic/progressive/hard rock, jazz fusion, acid jazz, trip hop, ethnical music, metal(lica), etc. Play for 14 years. If it were stolen, I might sell GX-700 and WP-20G and buy a VG-8 or VG-88 for even more synth sound options. I hate not being able to control parameters with an expression pedal.

When I bought it I was somewhat new to filters and sequenced effects(most guitar players probably are inexperienced) so there was that hump to get over. However, I can't knock the product for that. The manual does a decent job of explaining things. The interface for editing is fairly efficient. One thing I don't like is that from filter to filter parameters change names, become invalid, etc...but this is not reflected in the interface. I'm a fan of explicit naming. I guess that would have required more space though, or an LCD interface. After getting to know this thing better I'm unhappy that more parameters are not tweakable via midi control. For example, there are many patches where it would be great to control delay feedback with the expression pedal on my midi foot controller.
If you want to edit patches, definitely take a look at the free editor that an adrenalinn user wrote for it. It works well on pc. I can't speak for mac users, but the emagic software seemed like a piece of crap for pc. It repeatedly crashed when I tried to use it.

I use the adrenalinn in the effects loop of my mixer (Behringer UB1204-PRO) which has worked out fairly well. I just send it a direct guitar signal. With a switching system, I can take it in and out of the signal path. My amp is a mesa/boogie studio cal dc-2 but I don't send adrenalinn output to it. First of all, sound quality isn't good enough for that, but also many of the adrenalinn effects I like are in stereo. The effects just go to the pa.
I have a piece of advice for those experiencing problems with adrenalinn's lack of input headroom. Use compression! The guitar has a pretty big dynamic range and trimming that range a bit will help your woes. I use an RNC1773 (really nice compressor) from FMR audio. It is a great compressor for the money.
You get some really unique sounds out of this thing. The beat synced effects are what it is all about. Amp sims are noisy if you apply any gain to them. You can get some chorus sounds but they could be better. The sequenced flange and filter sounds are pretty good though.
I'd say that some of the presets are actually pretty useful...unlike any other effects processor I've worked with thus far.
Tremolo is solid. Volume swells sound good. There are a lot of possibilities with this thing. BTW, I took a look at the new version on the website the other day. I'm somewhat disappointed with the path the development is heading. Instead of adding features to make this a pro tool they are making the interface better. I'd have preferred true bypass, better midi expression control. Nonetheless, I like this thing and would get another one if I lost it.

A cool product at a reasonable price. Some unique sounds. Could be a little bit more oriented towards a pro user needing to integrate into a live setup. I guess that wasn't their target market based on the price point though. Nevertheless, a little creativity can make it work in my set up...though not perfectly to my liking. I wish that more people out there would share patches. There is a group on yahoo for doing but not a single patch is posted. Maybe I'll start posting. I have a feeling that many guitarists who have purchased this thing are newbies (I was) with filters and sequences so haven't tweaked it that much.

There are a few design decisions that make this harder to use than it needs to be.For instance,to decide how much of the drums feeds into the filter or delay,it starts with d00 which means zero sent to the delay, then you have to turn through d99 to next get to F00 (none to the filter) and so on.If they had made dry "in the middle" and send to the delay counterclockwise, send to the filter clockwise,it would require less knob spinning, and when you pass d99 trying to get to the filter send setting, those drums are LOUD.
3 digit LED precludes naming presets,so you may have to make yourself a card to remind yourself the difference between U01 and U99.
On the whole, editing is pretty easy from the front panel, given the small number of knobs and the large number of parameters. There are a fair number of usefull presets,or at least enough to get you started in the right direction.
The manual is clear, complete, and well written.
My unit is one of the older ones.It was not upgradable by MIDI,so I had to pay 20$ (?) for the two new chips.

I use this with a PRS CE22 and various synthesizers, going into a Roland KC500 keyboard amp.The amp models are sufficient to get a great tone out of my guitar through the keyboard amp.I'm not that impressed with the flanger and phaser type of sounds, but the filters are pretty good.

This is a fairly unique product. The drum machine part of it,though it sounds nice,is pretty much a fancy metronome as far as I'm concerned-you cant get that far with 2 measures. The rest of it is surprisingly deep, and there are many subtle (and unsubtle) facets to it.
If it was lost or stolen,I'd *probably* replace it.I play through my laptop, and there are definitely amp simulator software that beat it.
I have a great time using it,though usually with the same handfull of presets I've saved.

Strat copy with single coils to Adrenalinn to '65 Deluxe Reverb re-issue (guitar) and Peavey Pacer (drums). Originally had Adrenalinn
on top of Deluxe Reverb. Some patches were horribly noisy when I was
standing right next to the amp. Moved the Adrenalinn (and myself and guitar) 5 feet away from the amp, and voila, no noise at all on any patches. Doh! Amp sims disappointing...wished they had put in a sequencer or something else in place of the amp sims. For that matter, I wish they had put in a global amp sim kill switch, so I wouldn't have to manually turn the amp sim off every time I change patches. The rest of the effects are killer, and the drums sounds
are good.
I don't go after the sounds of my favorite artists.

I used it, I broke the start switch - using my thumb. Tad too fragile. I'll exchange it at GC, and if the second Adrenalinn breaks

There are so many parameters and option so it takes some time to learn it. The presets are not so good but have you ever had a effectbox that has good presets ??????
So it takes some tweaking.
I have also tried the V-amp 2/ the johnson J-station/ the pod 2 and the digitech genesis but the Adrenalinn beats them all.
The amps don't sound just like the real thing but most of them sounds really good. I like the fuzz and the 2 fenders.

The unit produces sounds that are distinctly exotic. I think the unit will mostly appeal to those who dig the ethereal flavors of music.
I have kept the unit to peruse the settings of favorite patches and perhaps apply to a more powerful unit like the Eventide Eclipse.
Careful when considering this piece--terrific for adding color while recording a song but not the standard workhorse most of us use on stage.
Though, the guitar mags rave over this thing it is best suited for those who are patient and like to experiment. I would not purchase another one.

Adrenalinn v1.5(need to upgrade to 1.6) This has become my dream unit in a matter of only a few days. Very useable sounds (for me) and while the editing first scared me I realize now it's really pretty easy (just had to get over the 'I don't want to learn something new' syndrome). I suppose one could argue any unit could always be easier to program, but I really think this is pretty straightforward and I have had multi effect units from Digitech, Boss and ART and this to my mind is easier to figure out than most of thoughs. Manual touches on everything but software upgrades, but that is covered at their website. Does it do everything? No. Could it replace my Boss GT-6? No (although I can now use that a $395 midi switching device!) I think this device is amazing because I find the sounds inspiring for sound writing and discovering sounds to which I am a fan. The sounds that it makes are exceptional which IMHO is a far cry better than many things rather mediorce. It has such a reach analog sound that it blows me away the modulation effects are digital.

I'm using a Strat type and Tele type guitar both of which sound fabulous through the Adrenalinn. I found the Strat useful in all pickup positions and the Tele style seems to work best with the bridge pickup. It seems to want a real crisp signal.
I read several reviews on noise to which I can only scratch my head as there is none when I play! The effects are so stinkin rich it really blows me away. The modulations sound very thick like they are analog. The stereo aspect of this unit gives the effects and amazing amount of dimension (Rotary speaker in the stereo spectrum rocks!!!) I am playing this through a SWR California Blonde which is an extremely clean amp and it works great.
I'm no longer a sound like my favorite artist kind of guy, but I think if you were trying to reproduce rich sounds this thing is killer. I would have preferred a true phaser on board, but the tweaked flanger works well.

I looked at other 'groove' boxes, but this seemed to be the most complete. Again, you could alwayas ask for a pedal to do 'one more thing', but I think this does what it does very very well.

The presets allow you to immediately make great sounds. This has "gee whiz" goin right out of the box. Editing the patches into user defined addresses or creating wholly new ones is daunting at first. The unit is small so it works on a matrix system to address parameters. It can be confusing. Ive had mine for three months, Im still fairly unsure of the process. The manual is just okay. Getting it to interface with the midi-out of a drum machine is harder than it would seem from the literature. The video on the Linn website is very useful. The drum machine sounds fair, but is otherwise not very useful as its not easily programed and doesnt offer much latitude in that regard

I use the linn through the PA or directly into the record inputs. Its a very hi fidelity box and sounds midrange honky through a guitar amp. I like it better with single coil guitars, and Fenders at that. It just seems to be more articulate with the single coil pickups. The Adrenilinn is fairly quiet and pretty clean. This thing is a combination groove box/amp modeler. For the most part it doesnt produce much in the way of silence, so you really dont hear much noise in addition to the program signal. It does some unique things and as such is impossible to compare with any other signal processor for the guitar.

I dont know. The early ones have a problem with the reverb and echo going intermittant. Mine did it. I dont use this thing much live. It takes too much time to get it set up for the next song. It has worked every time Ive plugged it in and Linn has fixed any problems I have. I use it as a unique color for a tune or two and people come up to the stage to figure out how I do it. I lie to them. If I didnt have to run it through the PA it would make my stage life less entangled. But when you use it, and its evident that its not a sequencer or canned, and as such, it is quite impressive.

I dont know how to categorize what I play. Industrial Jazz? Contrapuntal Blues, ?? But the point is the Adrenalinn allows me to get sounds I want to use that heretofore requried a sampling keyboard and a bunch of filters. Ive been playing 38 years, I have a dozen or so guitars, two TopHat amps and a Vibrolux(backup), elleventy billion pedals, a Yamaha AW4416 and related outboard recording stuff and just got some Mackie 1530s and a 1500 sub. Now I mike my amps and run em up to volume with my own PA. Keeps the stage volume down and lets me get the most out of extended range pedals, like this one. I would definitely get another if this one were stolen. I didnt realize how much I liked it until I fried it and was without for a few weeks. Heres what it needs, a headphone out, a drum machine input or a more complete and programable drum unit. Marry this thing to an Akai 2000XL. I know it'd sound great but Id probably never figure out how to use it. It does give me ideas. Listen to Roger Linns demo on his web site. Theres nothing around like this thing.
