Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use. Quiet too. SCSI cable hook-up, and away you go. Have it hooked up to my VSR-880. One persons review said it did not work with the 880 rack recorder, but this is not true. I have been using it now for over a year hooked up to 2 vsr-880's.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Used only for storing and retrieving data.

Reliability : 7
every so often, I have a problem with the cdr's, depending on the brand and speed at which they can record information. You need to make sure the cdr's used are compatible with the speed of the rack unit. Side note for those of you that may want to purchase one of these units....Make sure you use cdr's for data, not music.

Customer Support : 10
Every time I needed support from Roland, they have been there. Always quick to answer the phone, and very knowledgable on the products. Even those that are obsolete. Email support is not too bad. Usually a response within a few days. Great personalities too.

Overall Rating : 9
Outside of a few minor problems that were most likely user related or cdr's related, the unit has been great for backing up projects and refering to them at a later date.

the unit will not work with the vsr 880 as advertised

Sound Quality : No Opinion
the roland cd rack will not work with the vsr 880 as advertised

Reliability : 2
the vsr 880 unit first appeared in the trade mags inlate2000 or early 2001. by mid 2002, or even before, they disappeared. Was I the only one to buy one? Mine works fine, but when I could finally afford the burner that goes with it, i read the instructions, and find out that it may not work with any particular vsr880 unit if the system version is not better than 1.013 or so. Didn't say that in the ad! Again, I said that the ad said the roland cdrack works with the vsr880.

Customer Support : 1
the company qps' technical support ignored my emails. American musical supply told me to switch the input cables around and to call them back to tell them what roland said.

Overall Rating : 1
I like the vsr 880, and I would certainly love to love the cdrack unit, but it won't work with the vsr880.

This is the easiest unit I have in my studio. It connects via scsi cable directly to my VS-880ex and off I go. I had to update the software on my vs-880ex to 2.01, but after that it was away we go.

Sound Quality : 10
No sound quality additon as it just copies the media and backs up the tracks. It does not add any bad elements to the sound.

Reliability : 10
I've only owned it for two weeks, but so far no problem. I'll get back at ya in a year or so...

Customer Support : 10
Unit is made by QPS, Inc and not Roland. I actually had some questions, so I called Roland's help line and I got right through. They were even able to answer my questions. So, A+++

Overall Rating : 10
Excelent so far. Highly recommended.
