My rating for the ease of use is "5" only because it's easy to use the system but...when answering the review question about "How easy is it to get a good sound out of it?" i'm totaly disappointed!I've practicaly spent days on trying to get a decent sound out of it(i don't know maybe i'm stupid) even while it's so easy to work with it!

Well i can't be proud with the amps and guitars i'm testing this...this thing on,but please! It's not noisy or anything but my greatest disappointment is from the distortions.Maybe cause i played more heavy metal on it i just couldn't(and still can't) get the right distiortion set!I don't know on what head some guys here said it's got a lot of harmonics WHAT?You see i plug this on a simple Squier and to be honest it's a real pain to get a harmonic and even if you do it get's lost for a mere second! And another thing the overall bass of the effect is to small even when it's set to maximum. The only thing i like is the delay and the chorus only these two have done anything usefull to me.

Oh no!Believe me i've been through a lot of pain to set this thing right so i can live through only a single gig. It's a really solid thing and i thought nothing could break it but that's seems to be only on the outside cause i have a general problem with this effect. It seems there something wrong inside cause sometimes it starts to buzz so loudly my guitar tone completly vanquishes(i don't know my product was second hand so this may be a damage from the previous owner but some of you said that nothing can harm this effect so i wonder what could've this guy done?)I want to fix it but they want too much money just to open it and see what's the problem!I'm sorry but i can't rely on this when i'm on stage...

I've been playing for 4 years i know it's not much but this is not the only thing i've tried on my cheap equipment(i tried a H&K Tubeman and it brought everything to life!)I would sell this thing first thing, but unfotunetly i have to fix it's problem first...damn:( Well maybe it'll be good for blues, jazz or maybe fusion cause you can get really wacky blends out of it.I'm sorry but i can't suggest this to anyone...

Molto buona.

Very intuitive interface, especially for a rack unit.

I owned this unit for years and hated it for its sterile, processed sound. It was very tweakable, but sounded too electronic.
Then one day I hooked it up to a beat-up old Crate amp and cranked it up really loud and got goosebumps. It's everything I ever wanted out of my guitar tone. It can be completely drenched without losing definition, and you can make some absolutely crystalline tones, leaving trails of notes that you can almost visualize shattering.
Again, recording it direct, I hated it. A lot. But amped up loud, especially through a crappy, gritty amp, it's pure heaven.

This thing is bulletproof. I bought it when I was 19 and had no respect for equipment, and it's never had a single issue over the last 12 years. Solid as they come.

I play some jazz, some progressive, some straight rock, and it fits all of the categories well. It's indispensible to me. I've bought other racks over the years, and gotten rid of all of them.
The delay is incredible, the reverb is very nice, and some of the distortions are second to none. Some suck, but what're you gonna do?
The only thing I wish it had was better MIDI capabilities. The guy I bought it from totally lied to me about what it could do, and to this day I just wish I could use its MIDI abilities to play, say a trumpet tone through the guitar. I wanted a midi interface I could run through a synth, and this ain't it.
...but if he hadn't lied to me, I wouldn't have found the tone of my dreams.
Best piece of gear I've ever bought.

Just wanted to add that I don't quite understand the comment of the previous poster who mentioned "putting a mic in front of it." How do you do that with an "effects only" unit that has no speaker? If one were to use it as a direct out box the comments might be germane. I'm not flaming anyone here, but I don't understand the comment. Thanks

Well, one must be able to read and understand instructions. It is a rather old unit, but so am I, and it seems these days everyone and their dog is trying to recreate the old tones. That's not to say this unit is especially valuable due to its age, but it should not preclude one from considering it for their arsenal. With the pedal and a bit of time, I was able to coax some nice sounds out of it. If you're expecting the unit to make you into a guitar god, I suggest spending the purchase price on lessons. It's a wonderful tool, but--like a hammer--if you don't know how to use it, you're just bangin'

I don't ask too much out of a processing unit other than to color my sound when I need it, but in that context, the unit works well. I like the distortions, but as a Chicago Blues player, I only use the crunchier sounds. Ask Ozzie how he likes the raunchier tones. I use it through a Roland BC 60 1-12, and I use the BC dry since I like the reverbs, distortions, and delays of the GS-6 so much. Any over-processed sound is going to sound sterile, but used tastefully, this unit is the only extraneous one I need. I have an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, but since I've gotten this unit, I've put it in the closet with my Zappa records.

I bought the bastard used, and with all the bumps and bruises the I and the previous owner have given it, it's a miracle the freakin' thing even lights up when I plug it in. The cable for the foot-switch is different though. It's expensive and fragile. Don't buy a used unit without the foot-switch and the cable--useless city.

Who's a customer? I bought it on E-bay. From previous experiences with Boss/Roland, I'd have to say I thought the company was some mythical place since I know of no one who has ever spoken to a real person at either company. What-the-freak-ever, though. I've never needed them.

I play basically untarnished blues guitar. I use an Ibanez AS-120 (for the 335 sound, it beats Gibson), a G&L F-100, and a Nashville Tele. I have too many other toys to list, and they go in and out of my life as my tastes change. I always come back to good guitars and good amps, though. A few good effects, but I'm mostly interested in getting a good sound with as few foot-switches as possible. This one does all I need. After you set it up and personalize your settings, you just play, and that's what I want to spend my time doing!

The sound is awesome, the processor is pretty old beasty but hey, it's a Roland. The sound is so full and wet, you can feel it really great. You can emulate all kind of stacks and get damn good authentic sounds. There is hum canceler and noise gate that work perfectly removing every trace of the hum from your guitar signal. It's not designed and thought as an effects processor, but like a preamp section with some basic effects to boost the sound. It gives it's best shot. The distortions are among the best I *ever* heard, they are so full and rich with harmonics ... The chourus is excellent, there are many variations of chorus (4), there are 8 great reverbs, and the delay scores a whole second ... great! You can't tweak a bad sound out of it, just hook it to a real guitar amp... It's mean, buy it !!

It doesn't sound to good on its own, but if you run a compressor before it you can make some cool noise. The editing is very easy, 10pts.!! The manual does not describe the eq good enough!

It can be a real bugger if you want to record something and you stick a microphone up to it. Spesially on the clean sounds if you cut a lot of low mid. freq. Then you have to boost the internal volume so it comes naturally. Sometimes if you use all three effects it could generate a lot of noise, but the noise suppressor works alright. The chorus is too dominant, an not versatile at all.

I WOULD SERTANLY NOT BUY THIS PAINMAKER AGAIN. (exept if I win a LOT of money!!!) HATE: No tubes! The distortion is not loud enough. No effects loop, no bypass, the effects are not very versatile. LOVE: Easy to change patches/sounds. I wishwed it had a lot more for this prise.

The guy from New Zealand is a bit unfair in that he does not describe the equipment he is using. I ran a Stra Ultra through the GS6 ouput to a very clean transistor amp (old Rickenbacker) and it sounds great.

Would not buy without the foot contoller, which I got a great deal on. Love the workmanship and quality. Hate that you can't use the foot conroller with other MIDI equipment. The battery for the memory backup is supposed to last 5 years and its a special order item and a bitch to change. Customer support sucks.
