I'm not expert with delay units, so i've had to spend a couple of hours to understand the basics. You have to work with a wide range of parameters. This is absolutely professional equipment, so i think it's normal to read the manual(well done!) several times. After this, the unit seems easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it for delaying/echo my vocals & exotic guitars & basses for film scoring and also on stage. It's perfect for my needs. The 16 bit AD/DA conversion is more than adeguate. The sound is not plastic - has always a warm tone even if the amp trembles stands down. I think it's one of the best & it's really hard to find. It's a delay unit with no limits.

Reliability : No Opinion

Roland is a garantee. Look at their website.

If you are looking for a professional delay unit and you wish to not spend over 600 euros, search for this used. It's one of the best, in the last decade. I use it with an '90 Ibanez RG550 & with a mic to record acoustic and classical guitars. The rest of my equipment is : Alesis Nanoverb, Alesis NanoCompressor, Ibanez TubeScreamer, Bartolini BoostIt. My amp on stage is the Fender DeVille 4x10".

Presets are great, the tiny problem is the small display that can display only 3 params at the same time - that's cool, but it isn't for a mark of 10 :).

Sound Quality : 9
No, it isnt 10 for the sound quality - it is pretty cool - 16 bit AD/DA. But ease of use and sound quality are just the small stuff compared to the real reason you should use this beast.

Reliability : 8
It's reliable, although it overheats ... I have problems keeping it on top of Oberheim Matrix-1000 at summers (35 C these days ...) - Matrix misbehaves although it's hot only for the SDE reason (there's more to this statement than pure temperature :)

I wouldn't know, Im from Yugoslavia, but I hear Roland has pretty ok Customer support

SDE-330 is one of the most versatile delays of today. It's useless to just talk about its features (4 delays, 2900 ms, 4 pitch shifters, 4 unique 3D positioning devices, 3 band parametric EQ, many different alorythms and amazing parameters, ...), it should be test-driven by every electronic musician. It has AMAZING real-time controllability via MIDI - you can assign ANY controller, footswitch, pitchbend, aftertouch, or even note value (!?) to control any delay parameter in real time. This way, you can, for example, play the decaying delay sound using pitch shifter controllable by note while positioning it in 360 degrees around the listener with pitch bender. Or having footswitch that controlls feedback from 0 to 100%. Or anything else that inspires you. SDE-330 is not just a great effector - its an expressive musical instrument.
