This is by far the most warmest digital unit i have. Not cold, sterile
or harsh sounding. This is the brother of the SDE-330,SRV-330 units and compliments them very well.Normaly i do not like units that color your sound. This unit and other Roland units have that Special little, Roland color to them that we have all grown to love. This color is mild and is the same on the older units like the SDE-3000 delays which are great units. This unit is dedicated to chorus, with all of its types. It also has 3D RSS spacialization effect, 3dpanner,flanger, overdrive and a common parameter to all algorithms wich is a parametric eq.I love this unit for its lush and warm sound!!!!!.

Presets are incredible. There are a million killer chorus presets, leslie, a great CE-1 patch...to name a few.

I was really surprised by this unit. Not a lot of press about it anywhere, but it widens and is warm just like a TC 1210. Has great mutli stage chorusing for that tri-stereo swimming sound.
It has some great subtle effects that just add something cool to your sound without being too obvious. An extremely under-rated unit in my opinion.

killer unit...very hard to find these days..they discontinued it.
I see quite a few in the studios, but not many musicians are familiar with them as much as the delay from this series. Everybody always asks what is that when I'm using it...so I know it sounds good!

The SDX-330 sounds great -- easily if you use the presets as is. But it's not too difficult to go in and edit. It is limited by one of those tiny editing windows, but Roland have tried to make it easier by letting you choose how you want information displayed. Quite editable this way. Manual is nothing incredible, but does a good basic job -- you'll learn the most by hands on, as always. There is a chip upgrade that you can get from Roland which improves the internal processing even more.

I use the SDX-330 on everything -- sometimes a little and sometimes a lot but I like the way it colors the sound. It is not too noisy internally (depends on the program) but will definitely add some noise to your mix. The effects themselves are great. They make everything sound that much better and more interesting. It makes everything sound warmer. Its 3D RSS effects are subtle but spacious. If you like your mixes warm and wide then get this machine. If you prefer your mixes cool, icy, and precise, then avoid this machine.

I have never had a single problem with this machine and I bought when it first came out in about 1994-5 (?).

Roland was helpful in getting the chip upgrade to this machine, but not the fastest.

I use it for most remix styles, from all types of house to trance and ambient. Shines best for trance and ambient. If you're looking for a machine that just adds that extra 'something' to the professioanlism of your mixes, then get this machine. Personally, I love it.

THe sdx330 is the dimensional expander.Think its part of a set with the srv330 reverb and sde330 delay unit. All three have the rss algorithmns or a simplified version of the rss-10.The sdx does phasing/flanging and chorus fx plus panning / 3d rss fx and small
'ambience' reverbs etc.Its easy to use.

Quality is cool.....sos review is a good indicator.Has a warm and lush sound, typically roland though? The rss fx are very subtle but with editing the unit can widen the stereo field alot and give an unusual spaciouness that leave you think , that sounds in a strange place kind of thing.Quality is low noise i would say and very transparent. The unit can do some real lush multiband phasing and chorus etc and is great on pads. Its good allround really but i would say a bit of a luxury given it only does modualtion type fx like chorus.

roland are famous for being crap.......no website e-mail address or contact....and no co-operation between japan/usa and uk......very very poor company who sell everything from lawnmowers to studio equipment...but they do make good gear...

overallits cool.I bought mainly for the rss fx and because i wanted some lush flanging/phasing etc which it does very well. The rss is not quite as cool as the rss-10 which i also have.Has different quality
and feel to the rss-10 in this department but is more controllablein some respects!has good midi implementation which the rss10 doesn;t...
i also have the sde330.....
I would advise anyone doing ambient or electronica and who is into the spacialness of headphone listening or homelistening on a stereo
to checkout thses 'psychacoustic'processors.Rss was regarded as a bit of a joke with 'hihats round the back of you head'demo etc...but to be honest it can give your mix a real edge and makeit sound way more 3d than music without any rss processing.Thats really why i have this unit and others...its an extra something....very subtle but...odvious
never was much good.....
