It's a trem pedal (well, two in one) so there's nothing particularly difficult about it. It is a compact green housing with four knobs: Rate 1, Rate 2, Depth, and Blend. If you can operate a channel switcher and a trem pedal, you're good-to-go. I picked mine up used at a guitar gear show in my home town, out of box and without a manual and I was picking my way through surfilicious sounds in no time. The LED strobes in sync with the tremolo speed that you have selected so you know when you are playing through Rate 1 or Rate 2 with the slightest glance.

I use an assortment of Fenders and LPs, always thru my trusty Vox. The pedal itself is very quiet. I gave it an "8" because it is a one trick pony, albeit a pony that does that one trick in a couple of different ways very well. The tremolo effect is very smooth at all rates. It would have been a lot more versatile if it have a pot that made the tremolo shift from a sine wave to a square wave. If it had that feature, I might give it an "11".

I could drop it from my roof and rely on it. I would gig without a back-up for sure.

Over the past 8 years, I have played many different types of rock -mostly in the vein of Swervedriver or The Smashing Pumpkins. I don't think that I would replace it if it were lost or stolen. That is not an indication of the quality of the pedal - it's just not for me. It is a convenient way to ping-pong between two different smooth tremolo speeds, it's durable, and it's quiet. If that's your thing, definitely check this thing out. If you want a tremolo pedal that can be smooth or severe, look elsewhere. If I were savvy enough in the ways of modding it to have such a tone control, I would never need another tremolo pedal.
