Ease of Use : 10
Easy as it looks. One knob, one tone slider with 3 choices, One stomp button to turn on & off.

Sound Quality : 10
Clean, Clean, Clean. The 3 way slider makes tasty flavors. Sort'a like switching from neck to the bridge pick-ups and maybe teaeking the guitar tone pot a little.

Reliability : No Opinion
Solid metal case. Heavy weight. Stays put on floor. Hasn't broken on me, & I've dropped it many times.

Customer Support : 10
I've called Seymour's shop several times. He's repaired custom vintage pick-ups for me. Always friendly, efficient.

Overall Rating : 10
I call this pedal the "solo switch". Click it on for my 8 bars of melodic glory and then click it off to be relegated back to rhythm guitarist. No fuss, no muss.

simple. one knob and a 3 position switch.

Sound Quality : 10
Perfect. Uncolored clean boost. Does not effect original tone of the amp even when pushed to maximum gain. Negates the need for installing hotter pickups or Installing hotter preamp tubes. It has the same effect as adding another preamp tube to your amp for distorted tones, Very cool. Pushes my amp into incredible shredding gain when it is needed.

Reliability : 9
No problems yet. Is very solid.

Not dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Sounds great. Gives a lot of additional tonal options to your amp, clean or dirty. I use a Peavey 5150 combo and a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade tube head through Marshall and 5150 4-12 cabs. Musicman EVH and Charvel San Dimas guitars. It sounds great with both of them, and it is clearly designed to be used with tube amps. Good little box.

Couple of bananas and you could teach a chimp to use...Very simple and straight forward. On/off footswitch, dial amount of gain, 3 way switch
which is a simplified eq adjust. I leave it flat, my main axe is already modded with p/ups that I like.

Sound Quality : 9
Running a modded MIM strat with a Carvin single coil in the neck and a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge. Compressor into P/up booster into a 130 watt Peavy heritage transtube. Does exactly what it's supposed to, clean uncolored gain. Drives a tube amp right into that sweet spot.
Clean settings sparkle with a lot of presence. Grit and sustain for days. Ran that rig for a while through a Vox 4x12 cab, HEAVEN!!!!
A wall of tone. Very quiet pedal as well Seymour Duncan hit it with this one!!

Reliability : 10
Whaddaya talking about, this things built like a tank.
I've had mine 4+ years now, It's got it's road scars and still works like day one. Lost count of how many times I've gigged without a backup.

Couldn't tell you, never needed it.

Overall Rating : 9
I have a small project studio at home, and play a lot of different styles of music, including some stuff I'm working on with Native American flute. HMMM, I wonder if I can find a way to run the flute through it? Note to self....
Been playing over 40 years, and I've gotten anal about tone.
If you own a tube amp, you need to check one of these out.
You will not be sorry you did.

This is just an update to my review of this product...

I recieved both my PBs (one replacement for the defective one I sent back, and one additional)and both work flawlessly. After having both of them for a few weeks now, I can tell you that this is indeed is the most underrated pedal on the market. I use both of them constantly and they do exactly as described in my previous review. To my ears, this pedal is what I was looking for and will look no further. I dont want to rate again to throw off the numbers, but If I could, Id give both of mine 10s : ) Id never sell either one of them, and would replace asap if stolen.

Not hard @ all guys. Turn the big knob for volume, the little switch for an adjustment to the tone, thats it.

Sound Quality : 10
Let me first say that this will be my first of maby 30 reviews of stuff Ive had over the past yr or so. Why you might ask? Because this is the MOST UNDERRATED PRODUCT ON THE MARKET IMHO. I tried the BD2 (nice, but not as good, still got it), and the Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso 1st. The BD2 is very versitile and Ill use it for other things, but the Super Chili just was not what many people have said to my ears (very picky). Compared to the Pickup Booster it just dident hold up. The Super Chili had a tinngy high end with single coils and very metallicy sounding, I returned it. The SD Pickup Booster is just sweet. It makes the sound of your pickups come alive, bigger, fuller, and sweeter. I ordered TWO after my first one broke (more on that later). I use one before my BYOB Ram Head, then another right before my delay at the end of my chain. Just more of what I want and nothing more. If I had to describe the sound, its like taking all those things you like about the sound of your single coils and bringing them out to the forefront much more. To me, this is the most underrated pedal out there. I LOVE BOTH OF MINE : )

Reliability : 3
To keep it short and sweet, I had one that broke after about 5 minutes, but those 5 minutes made me order TWO more (lol)! When I got my first one the foot pedal dident work after a few clicks, and then the pickup adjuster worked, then it dident, then it did...So, needless to say I returned it and have two more comming like I said cause the sound I got from it was EXACTLY waht I wanted out of it. Id say that for as happy as I was on the sound quality, I was equally dissapointed when it cut out, thus the 3 rating in this catagory.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Ill give it a 10 cause the sound is what I want totally. Even though it cut out on me in the first 5 minutes, I cant wait for the two that are on there way right now (Im having the guys check both of them before they come out to me this time though (lol)) In short, great sound, **** reliability, but hey, just check it out before you get one, or like in my case, just call them up and make sure you get a good one. From what Ive read, if ya get a good one, then your set. If ya get a bad one, trouble usually starts right out of the box.
peace.

Very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 9
This is a great choice for a booster because for the price. It is extremely durable and it enhances your tone rather than coloring it like a tube screamer would.
I got it to drive the front end of my B52 AT 100 becuase that amp can be very dry sounding. I use it with the gain at about 9:30 and my signal path is Schecter C-7 Blackjack(or 007 Elite) > Fender rack tuner > SD Pickup Booster > BBE Sonic Stomp > ISP Decimator> B52 AT100 > Custom Lopo cab loaded with Eminence Legend V120's and Manowar's in X pattern.
The result: my clean channel is now louder, much more touch sensitive, and can be driven when I play harder. The overdrive channel is much more lively as well. I roled back the gain on the amp to about 9 o'clock and set the channel volume at about 2:30. This way, with the booster in front driving the preamp I get a very reactive and juicy feeling tone that is still very dynamic and clean sounding. It is absolutely perfect for rythym and the occasional progressive licks I do when playing. For solos I have EMG boost circuits installed on my guitars for added sustain when I need it.
I definately notice a difference in sound quality between this pedal driving the preamp and the amp's own distortion. As long as I set the controls right it's just really great tone for miles.
The res control on the pedal is very subtle. I have coil tapping options on both of my guitars so I've had the opportunity to hear it with both SC's and Humbuckers. It adds a variable amount of warmth to the low end and its definately more noticable with SC's. I use either setting 1 or keep it off depending on the nature of what I'm playing.
Also, this pedal is completely noiseless so long as you have it properly powered. I have all my pedals hooked up to a BBE supa charger and I have no hum whatsoever. My rig is dead quiet unless I stand on top of my amp witht the overdrive on.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems solidly built.

Customer Support : No Opinion
They are good at answering tech questions via email but the custom shop person is kind of rude in my opinion.

Overall Rating : 10
I am in a progressive metal band and of course I'm a tone freak as well so I've been on a 5 year quest now to get my tone the way I want it. I'd say this pedal is definately a step in the right direction. I've been playing for 14 years so I've gone through a bunch of other equipment. I've found that as far as good raw tone goes my best bet is to focus on a quality instrument and amp, and to only use out-board effects that enhance the main signal rather than rob it.
It's a very simple tool and is really ideal if you love the way your rig sounds but just wish it had a bit more power.

Picked this up used on eBay, without ever having tried one. Good choice! It's ridiculously easy to use. The manual was included, but I never looked at it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play an American Standard Tele and an American Vintage Hotrod Strat through a Carr Vincent amp. I love the pedal with both guitars, maybe a bit more with the Tele. The boost is absolutely uncolored, and there is as much of it as one could ever want. I really like the simulated humbucher function. It really fattens up the single coil sound without really changing the tone, although I know that sounds impossible! I put it first in my chain, and that works for me. Sounds really great in conjunction with my Sparkle Drive, which I run with just a bit of drive. It kicks it into gear, makes it sing.

Reliability : 5
Well, the switch has an audible pop when I turn the effect off, so low marks in this category. I guess I'll get the switch replaced. But when gigging, it's not really noticeable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have no idea about customer support. If I had bought the pedal new, I would contact them about the switch.

Overall Rating : 9
I play Classic Rock covers mainly, some blues, r&b, country also. Been at it a long time. I have assembled a really great rig, and this pedal adds a lot. I would replace it if it got stolen or simply quit working. It's very affordable, and does what it claims to do.

Very easy.

You have a pot for the volume (boost) and 3 positions switch for flat, or to cut highs.
Seymour Duncan says that the positions are for converting your singles to humbuckers, but really is very usable to cut the highs, because when you boost a signal the complete sound is boosted, and the highs sound a bit clearer. If you don't want clear highs, you choose the position 1. Perfect and fat sound.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
This is the only booster that doesn't add coluor.
No change your sound.
No change your tone.
Keep, save your tone. Completely.
This is the real and punchier booster.

I have had others (Tube Screamers, Fulltone (several, fat boost included), etc)
The Seymour Duncan is cheaper and doesn't change your tone. It is the only one that offer a real punch tone. Your palm mutes are the punchiest mutes.

IF YOU HAVE A BAD ADAPTOR OR BAD CABLES YOU WILL GET A BAD SOUND, INTERFERENCES, ETC. But not by the booster.
A good adaptor and good cables is the most important things for a good tone. don't forget it.
I use the Voodoolabs Power 2 Plus and Mogami.
Never a bad sound, noise, interferences... nothing!

Reliability : 7
Change the on/of switch.
Buy a good DPDT and change it. It has a cheap chinesse switch.
Put a good.

The best for Marshall and high gain type amps.

If you have a clean Fender amp, perhaps this is not for you.

This pedal offer more of what your amp has. If your amp has not a good overdrive or distortion sound, look for a overdrive or distortion pedal.

72 modded Tele reissue (Lindy Fralin Blues Special in the bridge, PRS Santana humbucker in the neck) or a 90's CIJ Fender Jaguar-->
Crybaby Wah-->Pickup Booster-->Fulltone Fulldrive 2-->Line 6 DL 4--> Fender Blues Jr.

The pickup booster with the Fulltone sounds FANTASTIC! Creamy, thick overdrive with sustain for hours.
By itself it's a nice gain boost for added crunch.

I was looking for a missing ingredient to my sound and I think I found it!
I was using a TS-9 as a boost but I felt it just wasn't working as well as it could. Plus it was coloring the tone.
I feel with the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster I am preserving the natural tone of the pickups, while bringing out the singing qualities in the amp.
I'd give it a 10 but there has to be something out there that sounds even better!

This is the simplest and most straight forward boost pedal you could get your hands on. One dial for the level of boost, and a really pleasant and addictive resonance switch for subtly altering your tone in a Most pleasing way. Three options: 1.)your pure pickup color, 2.) a vintage P.A.F. and 3.) heavy and hot humbucker. This thing is SUPER SIMPLE to get an amazing kick *** boost out of your tube amp and really brings more life and sparkle to your sound. It really is different from any other booster I have ever tried in that it DOES NOT CHANGE your tone, even when completely SMASHING the front end out of your amp. You can also add some minor color and added girth to your single coil guitars with the other 2 resonance options. These 2 other resonance options are subtle but powerful and can really inspire you to take your sounds in different directions. Set the boost to your taste, stomp on the thing, and stand back to hear your guitar sing like you have never heard it before. Fabulously easy to use with magnificient results.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a 1960 fender jazzmaster, 1983 tokai goldstar strat replica(1956-1960 version), 2006 prs soapbar SE 2, 2007 fender hot rod tele, and a 2007 fender jaguar baritone hh special. I use the pedal as the last pedal in my chain of quality effects, and it absolutely RULES my mesa boogie 5-25 express combo! The main point about this pedal is that it can be COMPLETELY TRANSPARENT and simply boost your guitar tone to excite your tube amp, take off, and absolutely RIP and Smoke like nothing else I have ever tried. 25 db really is a spactacular amount of boost available and you will be able to rise your tone above anything else when you want to stand out and play infront of the band. This pedal totally KILLS other boost/overdrive pedals I have tried as it retains the absolute individual characteristics of your instrument and brings out the very best qualities of your tube amp. From a very subtle warm boost, to smashing over your head thump and roar. It is surprisingly quiet and quite simply does what it says it will do with no ill effects or unwanted coloring of your tone.

Reliability : 10
I have owned this pedal for over a year and no issues whatsoever. Feels and looks super solid and feels REALLY GOOD when you stomp on the on switch. :)

Nothing required

Overall Rating : 10
I would immediately go out and buy another if it was lost or stolen. This pedal is the most important ingredient in my effects chain and I actually use it like you would a compressor. I place it last in the chain, running into the front end of my mesa boogie 5-25 express combo, as it completely restores any loss in signal strength or character of tone from running through 3-4 other pedals. I find it much better than a compressor for that, as no ill effects on tone or dynamics and helps focus your tone and brings it right out front of everyone else you may be playing/jamming with. I have been playing guitar for almost 30 years and mostly play blues based rock music( Hendrix, Zep, AcDc, Who, CCR, etc) and mostly play high quality single coil guitars, but this pedal is just as effective with humbuckers. Before you get seduced by the hype of some other products out there, you really owe it to yourself to try this thing out! You will find it superior and fabulous to anything else out there, and it is really quite inexpensive and solidly built and designed. Seymour Duncan knows what he is doing. Cheers.
