This thing sounded Terrible, weaker than an overdrive, But nothing i couldn't fix here's what i did: i preformed Assymmetrical clipping, added a BIAS pot, and replaced a Few caps, and Replaced the 100K Fuzz pot with a 500K . Now it sounds FAR OUT!!!! i can get a Buzz-Box sort of tone on the "Snarl" mode, and a Super-Fuzz/Big-muff on steroids tone on the "bite" mode.
i use a Fender JS (Jag-Stang with BC rich hummer in bridge) or a 1965 Fender Mustang (vintage MIM strat pups)--->Danno French toast (i modded to the original Foxx tone machine specs)--->Boss FZ-2 Hyper-Fuzz--->Snarling Dogs Fuzz-Buzz (i modded)--->Guyatone FZ-2 "the FUZZ" (i modded myself)---> (phsyco Fuzz Corp) Super-Muff (a Big-Muff i modded)---> Yun's Steroid Fuzz (pedal i built)--->Marshall Valvestate 100 watt head--->RARE Kustom 4X12 Open back.
After i modded the pedal it's my New faveorite. i can get TONS of Vintage Fuzz-Tones, Etc.

i play Mostly My own stuff which sounds like a Mix between Cream and Mudhoney. i grew up in the late 80's and early 90's in seattle so i can't deny my roots. But my Biggest Inspiration comes from the bands: Cream, and Mountain (jack Bruce, Eric clapton, Leslie West etc.) . i've been playing for 12 years (although i've been saying 12 years for a long time, because i lost count). Only gear i didn't mention above in my setup is: a stock Dano French toast, various accoustics, and an LP Junior.
Overall This pedal has GREAT potential, charlie just didn't give it the love it needed ;) . If it were stolen or lost, i'd be angry. Because i spent all day today modding that effect! i wouldn't go so far as to say it Helps me make music (only your spirit and heart does) i'd say my Tone inspires me to hack out Some pretty far out tunes.
If anyone would like to know more about my company (phsyco-Fuzz Corp) or want me to mod their pedal, or Just to know any more info/chat about stuff, Fire off an e-mail to me at
Yun-Jinn "at" thepruetts.com .
Thanks

The fuzz buzz is real easy to get a good sound out of it. There are not a lot of sounds there but the ones that are there are very usable. Didn't get a manual cuz I bought it off of ebay. Don't know if this is the one with true bypass or not. It's plenty quiet in my pedal chain though.

Current setup: fender strat with noiseless pickups into a boss tuner, fuzz buzz, reverend drivetrain II, fulltone supa-trem, danecho, DLS chorus/vib -> fender deluxe reverb RI. The fuzz buzz is not noisy. I also have an old heavy metal pedal by boss that is so noisy that it's unusable, although the fuzz tone is nice, also have a dano pastrami pedal that is noisy as hell too, the fuzz buzz on the other hand is very quiet and does not suck tone. I wouldn't say that I can emulate a mosrite fuzzrite or a fuzzface, but that the fuzz buzz has it's own fuzz quality to it. It's a very solid sounding fuzz and when I use it before the drivetrain gives me a nice full and rich sounding fuzz tone that fills up the room. Sounds great on the surf/spy tunes that we do.

seems very dependable. I can't afford to have backup pedals so yes I would gig without a backup. it's made out of metal so I would imagine it's going to last many years to come.

even thought I bought the pedal via ebay, I emailed Kenny Segall and he was very helpful. The pedal has been discontinued which is a shame cuz it sounds very nice. Oh and the way that the dog's eyes light up when its on scares the hell out of everyone.

Overall, its a very solid, harmonically rich fuzz pedal. I'm very happy with it. it's quiet when it's off and doesn't suck tone. It didn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the other bootique pedals out there. very cool pedal

Super easy to use, volume knob, gain knob, and a "snarl/bite" switch (bite adds more high end). Crank up the gain 'til you get the dirt you're happy with, then turn up the volume. Switch to "bite" when you want to cut through with a solo. "Snarl" works well for rhythm playing.

Used it with my Fender Tele+ & LoneStar Strat through a Fender Blues Deville 4x10, Boogie Subway Rocket, and VHT Pitbull 45. The sound quality is excellent for what I want to use it for: Fuzz sounds on Jimi songs. Pedal is quiet and best of all doesn't color your tone. It sounds good with all my amps, but for some strange reason sounds best through the clean channel of my Boogie (go figure). But I use it mainly with my Blues DeVille which has a horrible overdrive circuit. My only complaint is that the sound doesn't clean up as much as I'd like it to when I roll down the volume on my guitar (my BlueDoo does a much better job). But neither do any of the other Fuzz pedals I've tried. Still, an excellent fuzz pedal.

I once had a slight problem with my Whine-O-Wah (the pedal was a little stiff when I rocked it). Charlie sent me a new one and told me to send back the old one at my convenience. Now that's service! I imagine it's the same with all the Snarling Dogs products.

This pedal is extremely simple to use. It has two knobs: volume and distortion. One footswitch and one switch that cuts the high freq. and boost the low's and mid's. No tone comtrol(s): the manufacturer said that the pedal does not affect the tone and therefore it should be set from the guitar or the amp settings.

I have used this pedal with a Fender Strat with Seymore Duncan SSL-6 pickups and a Hamer with S.D. Alnico II and JB pu's going through a Fender Blues Deluxe amp. With the distortion on the sound is very similar to the Dunlop reissue of the Dallas Arbiter FuzzFace. It's a great fuzz pedal with plenty of tone without getting to be buzy or too noisy. With the distortion completely off the pedal can be used to boost the guitar signal and thus drive the amp. This can be done at low to moderate amp volume and the overdrive is great through my Fender Blues Deluxe. This pedal does not have an unheard of sound, it just does the fuzz but does it very well.

I believe these pedals can be quite reliable. I have a problem with the footswitch not fully engaging when switching the effect off and cutting the output. This goes away when switching back and forth once but can be a drag when playing with a band. i would not gig it without a backup due to the problem I just mentioned.

I have let Snarling Dogs know about the foorswitch problem today and have not dealt with them before. When I ordered the pedal I spoke to Charlie personally (the owner of the company) and he seemed to be a great guy.

This is a great pedal for what it was intended for: fuzz. The tone switch is not that usable but the pedal sounds great without a tone comtrol. The fuzz does not have the anoying buzz that other pedals do. I like the fact that it can be used to overdrive the amp very smoothly. Overall it's not that different from the other good fuzz pedals out there, but keep in mind thet it's not supposed to do anything else but create a great fuzz effect.

Ok, third time's a charm eh? I just ran an lp through the fuzz buzz and finally, what I was looking for. Humbuckers drive this thing all nasty. Single coils lick pouch compared to humbuckers with the fuzz buzz. Big Nasty fuzz was finally mine, but I don't own an lp. But If you do, try this, and you'll like it. The fuzz is tons nastier and fuzzier, and buzzier with them wonderful little dual coils.

To clear up my last review, the pedal doesn't suck. It just doesn't do what I want it to do. It's a classic fuzz pedal, not a full bore kill your family twice over fuzz pedal. For 90's grunge and grind, I'd still leave it alone, but for classic fuzz a la Clapton, it's a nifty piece of work for a killer price.

Well, from my Strat with Texas specials into my Deluxe 112 amp, it wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. I had jumped out of bed every morning for 2 weeks waiting for it to arrive, and though I had big hopes for it, it was a bit disappointing. I like my DOD classic fuzz better. It has more gain, is smoother, is cheaper, and has a tone knob for better flexibility.
The description said it could put out 90's MTV Grind and grunge, but it doesn't do buzzsaws (my idea of grind). If you want grunge sound, go buy a Big McMuff like ALL the other kids are...
It's not bad, but I can't recommend it over the classic fuzz.

Pauline was great. Charlie will e-mail you if you have questions, though he's kinda brief (understandable) with his explainations. Good help, good people to deal with.
They also sent me two of their new brain picks which are great! I've been using dunlop 1.0 mm nylons for a long time now, but these brain picks of theirs are even better. The grip is really fantastic. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for these. I believe they're nylon too.
(note: I never give out 10's.)

Well, I'm still hunting for a pedal that can do what I want. A smooth, silky super saturated articulate Smashing Pumpkins sound. Big Muffs aren't going to cut it no matter what you tell me. I'm trying to get rid of my texas specials (too vintage) and if things change with a new set of pickups (looking at laces), I'll let you all know.
I'm already considering sending the fuzz buzz to the buy&sell though.
Their new brain picks though, are really great, and get a 10!

This pedal is incredible, but it is being discontinued. I am glad I got one before they were gone. I think Charlie is going to incorporate the circuitry in another pedal but he is the one to ask about that. I would definitley buy another if I needed to. I love this pedal. Does that make me a pedal-phile??

The Snarling Dog Fuzz Buzz is simple to use but has great variation. You can go from sweet sustain to a powerful wail on this puppy. The more gain you give it the more you get from a rasp to a nasty howl that rips and snorts. At any gain or level this is a power pedal with clear definition. Having played through the sixties going to 2000 I can say this dirty dog will do it for you.

I like this pedal because it can do a variety of things from blues overdrive to nasty sound and to sweet licks behind the scenes. I would recommend it to any one and will keep it alive and well. I tried the Kron Centaur, Boss Distortion/overdrive, FuzzFace, Ibanez Tube Sreamer etc. this does what I want from all of those pedal with a little extra fatness.
