Very easy to operate and logically set up. Decide if you want a low medium or high frequency sweep, and then whether you want a bit of overdrive or not.

Sound Quality : 10
Although i will concede that this pedal can be noisy, especially on the "testosterone" setting, I have to say that this is the greatest wah pedal i have ever heard. I have tried out many "custom" and other high dollar wahs, I have never heard any "wah" sound as pronounced as the whin o produces. The only pedal Ive ever heard that was even close to this cool was a vintage Vox. The sound clips on the website really don't do it justice. This pedal is primed for sonic DESTRUCTION!@ I play an Ibanez JEM through a Peavey combo, and like a really high gain sound. The noise is manageable even on the "testosterone" setting as long as you turn the volume down to about 5 or 6. The "white room" setting is great for playing on the lower end of the fret board. Voodoo is the middle setting and the best overall, similar to a crybaby on steroids with a bigger sweep. I dont like the Shaft setting even on a clean tone, but who cares after you hear the other settings with distortion.

Reliability : 3
WARNING This pedal, and Snarling Dogs pedals in general ARE NOT very reliable. I have had several pieces break on my pedal, and it generally seems not very sturdy. The way everything is sort of open also makes me really nervous, and i suppose it lets dirt get inside. I have had several experiences trying out used SD pedals and often they have not worked at all. Once I had a gig and when I was practicing the day of, the pedal broke from the rest of the unit and I was forced to call my friend for a crybaby.

I have to say at a hundred bucks, you will NEVER find anything this cool for playing rock or metal. I would suggest using it in the studio, or definitely have a backup onhand. Despite its slightly cheap construction i highly recommend it. I'm gonna buy a backup with the true bypass switch :) (even though mine is not true bypass it doesn't suck the sound).

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use: plug and play 3 settings shaft/voodoo/white room

Sound Quality : 10
I am very impressed w/ the sound/s I have plyed several wahs and this wah is by far the most verstile. It has 3 settings shaft: a funky trebly sound ready for porno! voodoo: which is my fav a hendrixy sound and last white room: a more bass heavy wah sound not bad nice and thick and a knob that controls the wah volume and lastly a switch that makes your wah clean or dirty sounding. not bad array of tones in this cool looking pedal!

Reliability : 10
seems to be built like a tank and let me tell you the newer snarling dog whas are 10 times better built and sounding wahs of the past! How do i know well i used to own the frist ones( and boy where they trash!). but get this if you had problems with them in the past you need to check out the newer ones they are being manufacture by D'andrea picks and the quality is 100 times better than it has ever been, I can't believe that this is the same pedal that I owned two years ago...amazing what can happen when the company cares about what it makes!

Customer Support : 10
This is where it gets real good if I could give a rating of 20 I would but 10 will do. This company gives a damn not like the other 2 companies that own them. All of my emails were answered fast, I mean superfast, second My problem that i had was tooken care of super fast w/ very great results. If you have any problems w/ your pedal you can be reat assured that it will be tooken care of with the best of results( I am being totally on the level and just can't believe that their is customer service out there like this!!!!)...So do yourself a favor and check out the new snarling dogs pedals made by D'andrea you'll hear the difference!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I love this company and I love this pedal which is funny because a couple of years ago I would said don't waste your money..but that has changed! I have been playing for 15 years and finally there is a wah that not only looks cool but a has a nice range of wah color sounds to choose from and a company that gives a crap unlike the snarling dog of the past...equation:New company = new snarling dog wah. BTW I do not work or have any association w/ this company I am merely an Ex disgruntle snarling dog hater who has seen or heard the change and I am very pleased.... I will also leave my email address( which I never do) So if you have any questions just email me. this is all on the level!

Ease of Use : 10
Very straightforwad. just turn the knobs until you get a useable sound

Sound Quality : 10
I use either an epiphone les paul standard with a george lynch sreamin' demon in the bridge and stock neck humbucker, or a strat with emg pickups (81 in bridge, 60 in neck) and a floyd rose running through a line6 pod 2.0 into a peavy combo. I use the rectifier patch on the pod and don't get anymore noise out of this wah pedal than i did with my old crybaby. It's louder, has a better tone, and more options than a regular crybaby. I use the voodoo setting with the volume knob all the way up and the hormone switch on estrogen because i don't like the added distortion...it makes the wah seem bassier and kind of muddy. I also do not use the second inductor switch because i like the high end kirk hammet sound and i can get close to that with these settings. It also sounds pretty good with a little bit of delay from the pod. I've found that if playing clean and using the white room setting with the second inductor on i can get a good low growling wah like slash's tone on the live from tokyo videos before civil war. This is where the testosterone switch is useful. You can get that hendrix voodoo child vibe form this setting to. all in all, it's 800x better than a crybaby in my opinion.

Reliability : No Opinion
had it for more than a year and no problem yet. i even droped it on some concrete and it still fired up. weighs about 10 lbs. so it seems sturdy enough.

don't know, read that their good.

I play original music in a rock/metal band that recently signed a recording contract with a company in florida. I've been playing for about 8 years and have tried about five different wah pedals, a dunlop hendrix,535Q, original crybaby, morley bad horsie, and a vox. This pedal outshines all of those. The only thing i think would be better than this would be a rack mount crybaby because you can adjust you eq. Until i can affor one of those, this is the right wah for me. On a side note, i have this habit of taking the pot out of the wah and pissing with it a bit to get a wider sweep. I've done this with all other wahs except for the morley (it doesn't use a pot and it was not mine to adjust). So, i just adjusted this out of habit and i like it alot better than at first eventhough it was superior to a crybaby without tweeking. but if it was stolen, lost, or destroyed, i would get it again for the price.

The question is, how easy to get a good sound out of it? Simple, just play it, and the sound is guaranteed to be good, no matter how awful you play. I might exagerrate it a little bit, but it's definitely a b#@ch!! This pedal rocks!!
Well, there are some knobs and switches that you need to play around with before you master this thing, but it's easy to figure out. Maybe, an hour or so to master it.
If you're playing soft music like jazz and stuff, and want warm sounding wah, use the "estrogen" and toggle the knob to the "white room" setting. If you wanna rock, use the "testoterone" and knob goes either to voodoo or shaft. Man, this pedal does just about anything. It's so versatile!

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using an Ibanez RG guitar with a Fender amp. I use this pedal with BOSS Metal Zone or O/D, Cool Cat, Ibanez Phaser, and BOSS DD-5.
The pedal is very quiet. Turning it on and off might result in a little "pop", however it's ignorable.
The Wah sound that this pedal generates is the killer. It kills all those Crying Babies, Morleys, Voxes, which I tried before I made the purchase of this pedal. The Morleys that operates automatically when you step on it is very cool, but the sound, this wah is better.
And it beats the hell out of them in terms of versatility, as I mentioned above in the "ease of use" section. You can create different sounds with this wah; wum wum bassy wah, winky squeaky wah, anything.
Trust me, it's THE BEST OF THE BEST!!! (I'm not a Snarling Dogs' employee!!)

Reliability : 9
Once I stepped on it a little too hard, and the switch got broken. I think that's where I might say it's quiet unreliable. The rest of the pedal is a tank. Nuke won't break it.
I sent the pedal to the service center, and the guy helped me out outstandingly (thanks a lot Kenny!). He replaced the switch with a new one from a different manufacturer. He said he's been having some problems with the old switch, and he's definitely gonna stop ordering switches from them, and start looking for a new one that's much stronger. So I guess switching is not gonna be anymore problem pretty soon, when Snarling Dogs gets the new switches from the new supplier.
I will definitely use it without a backup!!! And it's pretty energy save, the battery's still good even after several months, and I use this pedal extensively.

Customer Support : 10
Before I dealt with them, I had heard a good reputation about them. They said they're the best customer service in the industry. Indeed, they're absolutely right!! They really want you, the customer, to be happy. Kenny gave me a set of strings for free because it took a little longer to return the pedal to me. And he provided step by step instructions over the phone (he was very kind and patient) when I found a little technical problem with the pedal. Good job guys!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I play any kind of music. I like metal and alternative, sometimes play a little soft music in request. I've been playing for 12 years.
If I lost this pedal, I will definitely get a new one. I need it, I can't live without it, really!
I swear I saw Mike McGready (did I spell it right) from Pearl Jam used it in the classic Saturday Night Live (few years ago, when grunge still ruled). Pearl Jam relies heavily on Wah, so if Mike chose this pedal, it should be the best one in the market. I agree. It's like finding a wife, it's THE ONE!

Its a wah. You step. It wahs. Nuff said?

Sound Quality : 9
Ok, I have had a Vox wah (origianal from '76, broken) 2 original crybaby wahs, a 535q chrome Crybaby wah and this guy. I cannot tell a lie, this bitch screams! The sweep is amazing, the tone is awful (in a good way) and the controls are straight-forward, intuitive and effictive. It has 3 wah modes , a gain knob and a testosterone and estrogen toggle switch, not to mention a beef booster switch (maybe a little over doing it on the switches, but no big deal). I keep the gain at full volume on mine, because other wise I can get that kirk hammet "cat fight" wah. I keep the testosterone on and usually have it in the middle or high wah mode. I do find my self fiddling with that beef booster switch because it thins out the tome wich isnt a bad thing if youre using as hot of pickups as I do (emg 81's-85's.). One complaint on the tone, when I turn the volume knob on my guitar at full, and put the gain at full, then switch it to a clean tone, I get a biting noise that almost sounds like Im clipping the amp. I dont know if this is due to my pickups or the wah, but I do use some passive seymoure JB's on a strat and it seems that I get it there to. Anyone else get anything like this?

Reliability : 10
Well, if youve read any of my other reviews youd know that I cant keep myself from modding my equipment, but this one turned out really good. The pedal itself comes with 2 lights in the position of the dogs eyes, that glow red when you stomp it, which is a little stupid (sorry charlie) if you think about it, because how can you tell if its on or not if youre foots over it? So being the genious I am I added my own "custom" light right past the big toe on the base. Works like a charm and I even feel I improved the product, which isnt an easy thing to do with this pedal. The cool thing was, I actually emailed charlies crew and a guy was kind enough to send me the LED to use! Most companies would laugh in youre face if you talked about modifying there products. Way cool Charlie! Anyways, back to relaibility, this thing is tougher than a rotwieler in a junk yard. Beat it, stomp it, smash it, it keeps screaming! its also much heaver that its cheaper counterparts, like the crybaby.

Customer Support : 10
As mentioned above, I emailed them and can say that they are among the finest in there proffession in dealing directly with the customer about technical issues with there products. And this is coming from a man who doesnt take customer support lightly. Charlie has one of, if not THE best customer support in the industry and puts most other manufacters to shame. Im going to quit now because I probably sound like I work for them.

Overall Rating : 10
I fine pedal indeed. yes it is slightly more than the crybaby, but well worth it. Also think of this, all of youre 15 year old friends are going to go buy there crybabies because there friends have them, and there friendses friends have them too. Playing guitar is not about conformity, which is one of the reasons I became inspired to play. This pedal is one link in the chain of creating yore own destinct sound of which you can be proud of. I will be posting the pictures of my LED modifications up on the web shortly, and even sooner if anybody emails me and requests them.
