Couldnt be easier unless it had just one knob or bar that one button, in other words, very easy, just level and drive.

For me, I really love it and its 10 all the way, theres a certain romance in finding a knackered, fucked up old pedal that no one wants and finding it so sweet to use, most of the time it doesnt happen, but, sometimes it does.
the drive sound is just slightly ringy slightly loose and a bit dirty, I dont know how to describe these things really oher than that but it just sounds great, thats all.

well it was made what how many decades ago? 2? 3? It looks like a giant has stepped on it and a knob has come off but its solid metal otherwise, it will always work I think just to be stubborn, like the other guy says.

I dont really hate anything about it, it looks like a pile of shit which is fine by me as Im not one for flashy looking gear anyway, for me its all about the inner power, not the packaging, and if it looks crap no one will nick it at a gig or from rehearsal.
Sorry for all the 10 out of 10 marks but why not? if I think its that good I dont see why I shouldnt. Its the MR Miyagi of effects pedals.

simple.. a 2-knob, stomp pedal..

like a wet fart at the wrong time.. it's not so good..
it's loose, it's not very "overdriven", and it just literally sucks the tone out of anything that your playing through.. i suppose that there are times that you would want a weak "overdrive" tone, and for those times, this is the pedal that you would want to use.. like a '70s Solid State combo amp, and not the cool funky SS amps.. wring the crappy tones out of the worst SS amps, and concentrate it into a stomp pedal.. and this is what you get..
but, if your looking for a rich, thick, beefy overdrive.. one that has the tone that makes you just cry.. this just isn't it..
**but, there are some "useable" tones that you can get out of it.. just use a very high output pickup with it.. and just mess with your amps settings until you get so tired that you just say "screw it.." and use that setting.. this is the best tone that can be had..
ahh, and it's not a "true-bypass", either.. damn..

this is the main problem with it.. it ALWAYS works..
unless the battery is dead.. but, as long as you keep a fresh 9V in it, or use an AC Adapter, it works..
sounds like crap, but it always works..
wow..

SoundCity has been gone for a few decades..
i bet this pedal is the real reason that SoundCity folded.. not so much the later amps that caught fire at anytime, but this series of pedals.. it just broke the back of SoundCity.. somewhat like how the USSR folded.. it just corrupted the tones of innocent guitarists..

eh, i got it as a "throw in" in a trade.. so far it just been a good conversation piece.. it be honest, i didn't know that SoundCity made pedals.. so, i'm keeping it as a relic of a past time.. and when i really want a crappy tone, because there are times that i do, i break it out and just crank it to 10..
if you are offered one, i wouldn't give more than $15.00 for it..
unless you can get it for free.. then it's a great value..
and it works great as a paperweight or doorstop, between the times that you remind yourself of how bad it really sounds.. ;)

Very easy to use: volume and gain only. Either set the level of gain you want and then use the volume to balance the level to the level of you clean sound as desired. Or to a certain extent, you can then decrease the gain and increase the volume to make a brighter tone.

Lovely tone, rip roaring for those bluesy leads, but enough clarity for chords and riffs to. Very sustaining.

Really easy to use. Two knobs to mess with: level and drive. Unlike some megamultidigirackspacestation 9000, this one is piece of cake.

I use mainly X2N humbucker in my ESP. It distorts my Laney when its cranked and everything is just okay. But when i need that extra gear, where can you go? Unless your amp doesn't go up to 11, you need this. It gives great buzz to my sound and makes it louder too!

Got it from flea market for 60 FIM (12$), and I dont think that Sound City works anymore. By the way I've got also a Sound City Concorde tube combo. It had a great tone, but now it's dead. That baby really smokes!

Now this is an odd pedel, as for once it is one that is exelent for solos but not so good for chords. The pedel is absolutly the most UN-noisy pedel I have ever came across, even when cranked. It gives an exelent rock/blues tone and distorts the sound in such a way that the sound is enhanced not just distorted and screeching. Exelent for meaningful solos. The overdive is very mild so don't expect a screetching/meaty gain sound. Good For: Rock/Blues/IndiShite Not So Good For: Metal/Punk/Anything Heavy Although Saing that it is ecelent for doing solos in all types of music.

The one I have been using belongs to a freind and is very old. It has regularaly kerrpooted in practice sessions although nothing serious. However it is ->VERY<- old and is built like a tank so if you can find a new one of these it should be preaty reliable.

Very Nice for Sabbath/LennyCravitz type stuff (not bad for some sex pistols either) not so good for metallica/napalm death
