Ease of Use : 10
The Hot Hand Phaser/Flanger is very easy to use. It has three controls - depth, effect, and motion/speed. An on/off pedal, and a select pedal. Along with a save button. Holding the select pedal down and turning one of the controls or pressing the save button activates Alt controls. The select pedal also activates four presets, and they're excellent!

After reading through the manual (a very well written one), I had no trouble getting good sounds from the unit.

Using the wireless ring controller was also easy to get the hang of, and quite fun, too!

Sound Quality : 10
I used the Hot Hand Phaser/Flanger with an old Marshall The Guv'nor distortion pedal (Guv'nor, then the Hot Hand)first with a Peavey Wolfgang, then a custom made Strat-style guitar through a Marshall 1974X 1x12 combo reissue. I found that both of the Marshall products made the sound a little too mid-rangey, but a little tweaking quickly solved that, and once I started playing the sound from the Hot Hand was incredible, both clean and distorted! In a short time, I was able to simulate other effects.

The phaser and flanger work well with the pick ups of both guitars used, with every pick up combo. It's as if the unit senses the pick ups being switched and instantly adjusted to the change.

The unit is pretty quiet, which shows the quality work of Source Audio.

Reliability : 10
I don't play in a band, but if I did, I can see the Hot Hand Phaser/Flanger being an important part of my set up. It's a well made unit, and I can see it lasting for decades.

Customer Support : 10
I've been in direct contact with someone from Source Audio, and they were very friendly. I just got the unit, and haven't had any problems with it, but from the e-mails I've received, I feel confident that Source Audio would take care of any problems.

I really don't see that happening because the unit is very well made.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 25 years and play mostly classic rock and hard rock songs, and the Hot Hand Phaser/Flanger fits like a glove! It either compliments what I play, or inspires me to play better. The unit can be used on just about any song to give it added flavor. It can be very subtle and delicate, or in your face, but in a good way.

I haven't had the Phaser/Flanger for very long, but I fell in love with it right away. What's not to love. It has a great look. Simple, yet elegant, and it could easily fit in on some NASA gadget.

It's a lot of fun to use, especially using the wireless ring controller. There's so many ways it can be used, I'm sure I'll figure out a bunch of ways. Right now, I'm experimenting with tapping and using the whammy bar and some wild and not-so-wild hand gestures.

I'm just a "basement player", so I can't really do the unit justice, but I can easily see a player like Jimmy Page use it to it's potential. Think of Page using his theremin during Whole Lotta Love, if he used this effect on it, it would be even more of a showcase song that it was during Led Zeppelin's prime.

Other players who would be good matches for the Hot Hand Phaser/Flanger would be Steve Vai or Adrian Belew.

Bottom line, this is a well made, easy to use, great sounding, fun effects unit. I would suggest it to player.
