Very simple to use but studying the website opens your mind to options you might not have considered. But I would suggest having a good think about your present rig and what it might be in the future, near or far. Because you might want to think about future-proofing in case your requirements change. Better slight over-capacity than under, if you know what I mean.
Sound Quality
:10
Certainly no worse than my previous 'quality' cables and, if anything, slightly better.
Reliability
:10
Performance has been perfect to date but then again I look after it well, treat it with respect, like all good gear should be looked after. It's not a cheap product so remember your investment!
Customer Support

All support has been through my local UK retailer, who get their support through the UK importer and they get their support from the US manufacturer. All good so far.

This product is just about as good as it could be. It'll only let you down if you mistreat it badly or underestimate your cabling requirements. It solves the problem of having multiple cables running back and forth, keeping multile power supplies at the front of the stage, setting up time can be considerably reduced, and generally looks cool. Designed by musician for musicians. It doesn't get better than that!

No change in sound quality when compared to doing it "the old way". Not better or worse, just transparent - which I consider a good thing.

I've been playing 23 years and I currently own a Mesa/Boogie Lonestar, a Mexican Strat, and a few Martin guitars. I love the fact that I can get to the gig and just plug in a few quick connections at the back of the amp. No more hassles. This pedalsnake has saved me time and energy during the part of the gig when I have none :)

An extremely high rating here as this is the whole point of this product. PEDALSNAKE is a multicore cable which, when used with a board such as PEDALTRAIN or T-REX, enables every on-stage cable in a guitarist's effects set up to travel along ONE cable. This includes not only your effects but their power supply AND even your amp's dedicated footswitch for channel change/effects etc. It's permanently plumbed into my board so setup at a gig is just a question of taking it out of its case and plugging in. On stage there's just one cable to the amp so tripping over is a thing of the past. The amp end is velcroed to the amp handle etc.and all patch leads are fixed under the board.

No discernable, derimental effect on sound quality as cable is high quality. A VITAL feature is that different effects types are correctly routed to either the FX send/return or main input of my PEAVEY DELTA BLUES. One of the beauties of this product is that it can be easily tailored to your individual setup. On mine, power goes in to a BOSS TU2 and then to several stomp boxes inc delay, graphics, chorus, distortion, CRYBABY. I have a TONEJONES footswitch for my amp plumbed in too. This was great find as it has LEDs and is therefore more usable onstage. THIS PRODUCT IS INDISPENSABLE for a working guitar-player!

No moving parts and, being largely inert, I have now worries here. Very slight concerns about smaller cables at amp end but take extra care here.

Leaving aside guitars and amps, the most useful items in my musical armoury are the BOSS TU-2 tuner, TONEJONES amp footswitch and PEDALSNAKE. This product is all about simplification. I'm conservative by nature and took a long time to make my mind up about this but I'm glad I did. If guitarists could see this product set up they would buy. I couldn't do without it now.
Guitar mag problem pages are full of letters from guitarists who have problems with HI-TECH digital effects units so I'm a confirmed analogue man (apart from a BOSS Digital Delay).Using this with a PEDALTRAIN does mean more floor-space than a Digital effects unit but this unit wins hands-down because it allows for different types of effects to go to exactly the correct part of the amp therefore eliminating the problems described above.
Has saved me so much set-up time and for around 55 GBP fantastic value for money.

Everything is color-coded, so there's no confusion as to which one of the connectors goes where.
On mine, an 8 line custom snake, I've got 1x 1/4" GLine, 2x1/4" Stereo TRS GLines (for an amp footswitch), & 5xMIDI3 connectors (1 for send/return fx loop operation, & 2 for power connectors - 1Spot power supplies). Since the 1/4" connectors are hard-wired, I know the right angle cable is send from the amp & the other two are for the footswitch, no confusion, no hassle.
Since its all bundled together, there's very little "spaghetti" when it comes to running cable from my pedal board to the amp, & set-up & tear down times are reduced - now I have time for beer before the show.

So far, good. I had previously been using a combination of Mogami & CBI cabling, & I'm still using the Mogami for the guitar to pedalboard signal. Otherwise, there is NO crosstalk with having power, footswitch (LED-based), and audio signal running so close together.
I use a 1983 Fender Concert II amplifier, which has an fx loop & an amp specific footswitch (the channels & reverb are only footswitchable with a footswitch that has this specific build).
My pedal board has two different signal paths, front of amp fx (Zendrive, Cactus Crunch, & Vox wah) & FX loop pedals (delay, chorus, & EQ). The PedalSnake accommodates all this, plus the amp footswitch in one bundled package.
If anything, I've noticed higher fidelity after switching to the PedalSnake, as I was able to hear the guitar to pedalboard cable picking up extraneous noise! I found out that the guitar to pedalboard cable had developed a short, switched it out, & was back to GREAT sound quality in no time.

I carry 2 or 3 of EVERYTHING (yes, amps, too) to gigs just to be safe & prepared.
The PedalSnake seems VERY sturdy, & the plug & play ends connect solidly, so I have no doubt that I'll be able to play many, many gigs without worrying about it going down on me.
I'm going to give this a "10" because of how reliable Jody was in our communication before I received anything from Stage Magic.

Jody actually CALLED ME after I emailed Stage Magic some general questions. THAT'S customer service!

I can't speak to the longevity, considering I've only just rec'd the product, but I would like to let everyone know what a pleasure it was to deal w/Jody & Stage Magic. I've slowly been refining my stage & studio gear for the last 5 years, & the PedalSnake is a great addition to my equipment. Its professionally made, convenient and easy to use, and it SOUNDS GREAT.
Compared to the bargain bin cables from the local guitar stand its expensive, but in comparison to some of the ridiculous prices on stuff like Monster Cable (crap), EA, or the like, this is a STEAL & a seriously helpful product!

just set it up, after having it for about a month thinking it was complicated. Once I got started, it was a matter of minutes, less than half an hour. I just plugged into an old vox, and 62 reissue strat(they were the ones closest to me that I use in my living room, for practice. The sound is not provided by this particular product, it just increases the signal to noise ratio, in an incredibly positive way. It is soooo noiseless, it's scary! There is no editing,or patching involved with this product I am just answering to harmony centrals questionaire.
It comes with a manual, or you can go on-line which is even better.
I didn't use the manual, I have had it with manuals in this the digital age in which everything has a manual, cell phones, watches, cars, satellite radio etc...
What in the world is a firmware revision number? Whatever it is, I haven't used it, therefore I have never needed it. I just need and use my ears and hands. Now,now don't be having a dirty mind! Shame on you. By the way the tongue can teach you about good taste as well ha-ha!OK, seriously, there have been no upgrades of any kind. Perhaps I should up-grade myself! Ha! This review thing is irresistable,I am having fun with it, not laughing at harmony central, or the product.
Jody told me to take the first step, and then everything became very clear, then suddenly, voila, in less than 1/2 an hour I was done., and with a wireless, and with 11 items on my pedalboard, and at least 22 patch cables. It sounds better than any guitar cable I have ever used, and I been playing 30 years professionally, in diffent genre's. I love my Geoge L cables, now I am going to cut themm, and make spare patch cables out of some, not all.

I have 9 fx, a tuner, a vol. pedal, and a wireless,I have different guitars and amps, right now I am testing this through the noisest things, and old vox, and a 62 reissue unshielded(notyet anyway) strat there is absolutely no noise, except for the usual if you have high gain dist./overdrive, and turn it and a comp. on at the same time, you'd better connect your notes, or there will always be noise in between them! Nothing to do with pedalsnake. I use high end pedals, some boutique, and some like line six which are nice and quiet. All including the Budda Wah, have true bypass, including a keely compressor, and modded tubescreamer which is far more versatile than the original. The only one without true bypass, is a Boss DD-6 and that may be good as a buffer. I have always had dominance as for getting just about every artists sounds which of course I love and use too, and sometimes, I even make up my own. Ha-ha! There are way too many favorites to write however, I like to use every thig from very clean sound A-la george Benson or Pat Martino, to a dirty growl that will knock you out of your shoes. for tones, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, and Santana come to mind. Steve vai, there are way too many, Billy Gibbons, Oh what about Brian May! For some strange reason, I configured the pedal board, (a pedaltrain) and before tweaking, when I started playing, everything sounded great! Maybe I shoud stop tweaking!
Reliability

I just set it up, however, Jody has thought it out so well, I doubt there will be any major failures or breakdowns. Have you ever owned gear that is relatively reliable for a reasonable time? Let me know, and I'll buy it, I don't care if its a watch, a car, amp ,guitar, or a girlfriend, or wife for that matter! Seriously, I just plugged it in yesterday, however, I am sure nothing has been overlooked. The velcro to tie the amp end of the snake is simply brilliant, so the cables weight won't be pulling it's weight on the connectors. I don't know if it would be fair to rate it because I haven't even used it at gigs, butI can tell after all my years when something is solid, and industrial strengh. This isn't whats the name of that shack place? someting to do with radios? well it's nowhere near that, so for now, I don't really know what to say perhaps 9.5? I trust in the product, and support, and since you won't have to be plugging and unpluuging all your peadals, cables, etc... I am sure it is stronger, and more reliable than a coventinal set-up. So I am going to gamble based on expirience on this category.

I cannot say enough about this. I have driven Jody nuts, with questions, and it was simply my fault for not even trying. That guy is patient, let me tell you. Of course that will not always be the case, as I predict they will be busier and busier all the time, when the word gets around.
They are going to be busy as heck! I have had a great dialogue with the company not only about their products, but about gear, and how it works, different ways to connect stuff, what sounds good with what, I even recommended a product for Jody which I won't endorse here, it's far too dangerous! Just kidding, I don't usually write reviews, because i would spend my whole life doing it. I am a collector, as well as a musician, and just don'thave the time. I am only doing this because it is such a clever, and convinient product and the support has been nothing less than excellent! Absolutely an A+

I live in Miami, and exept for classical guitar(I know quite a few pieces, but wouln't call myself a classical guitarist)I own a 60's Ramirez, and I finally purchased a nylon string electric The only drawback is, that everybody wants me to play Flamenco, and I have way too much respect for it, though my ancestors are from Andalucia Spain, and I can fake it pretty good, was married to a spanish beauty and spent cosiderable time in spain, I don't like to do it.I don't ever like to "fake" anything! That guy on TV,that sells those fab guitars, and the Gypsy, what is it queens? I tend to be forgetful, sorry,I can't specify, because there are so many. They don't have a clue what Flamenco is. Go to any street corner in the South of Spain,or listen to Paco DeLucia, and you'll know what I mean. Sorry if you think I'm talking about you guys, on TV, and M-TV, I am not. It's not worth it.
Other than that, I play every thing from Duke Ellington, to Jimmy Buffett. I have to to survive. My favorite is classic rock, classical/progessive rock, blues Beatles, Pop(if it has somewhat of a challenge) and jazz. Being in Miami, and playing on cruise ships, have also made me learn all kinds of carribean music, from Reggae and Calypso, to Cuban music, which has do many different styles, and rhythms, it's crazy, there are way too many different cuban music's to write here, however, Mambo, Son, Son Montuno, Guaguanco, guarachas, and all of them probably came from Rhumba. These rhythms, then in turn gave birth to Salsa. I have too much gear, and not enough time to list. Yes, this gives me a wide variety, and makes lfe easier, as for set up and tear down. I have been playing 30 years. I would buy another one if it was stolen. Hah! I would love for someone to try. They will regret it for the rest of their low lives, and I won't even hurt my hands or fingers! There is nothing to love or hate, about pedalsnake, though so far, I do love it! It is simply a well thought out tool for working musicians with no roadies. There is no comparison's, I don't do comparisons. Cantaloupes, and watermellons. I wish it had Anna Kournikova pop up every time I turn it on. It helps make music, by it's own nature, by getting out of the way. One cable. That's what it was designed for. I would like to share me, if there are any female musicians, just kidding, this is a superior product, period.

I opened the package today like a kid coming home from the candy store. Like most guys, I skipped the instruction booklet, and hooked it up to my dual 5150 guitar rigs (A/B).
5 minutes maximum was spent hooking the snake up, and keep in mind, this was my very FIRST time!!
Sound Quality
:10
The sound quality was as transparent as one's ears (mine) could be. There was NO tone or gain loss whatsover, even considering the snake is 22+ feet. Try that with a standard 22+ foot guitar cable.. You won't get this quality.. actually you wouldn't get ANY quality.
Sound was everything I was hoping for!

Being that I just got it today, I can't say how it's going to handle the road, but I'll be sure to report back later. My setup is quite complicated on stage. I have a few pedals, but not setup like some people. I run 2 amps on stage, and various looping schemes/routing etc between them both. The stage at one time, just at my side, was an insane mess. Not to mention, this was always a very stressful thing, setting it all up the OLD way. Plus, teardown times when you are on a bill with a National act, is usually VERY rushed. Now with Pedal Snake at my side, I am worry free, and can spend more time doing what I am supposed to, play Guitar!
You must check out their product line today. It will make you as excited as bringing home your first guitar!

Pedalsnake changed my like. the time it takes to cable up my pedal rig to my backline went from 15 minutes to about 1!!!
I keep the Pedal End of PedalSnake connected at my Pedalboard. I unplug the amp end after each use, and coild the flexible single snake cable up in my pedalboard case.
When I setup, I just uncoil PedalSnake from by pedalboard, and hook everything up by color at the backline. I put little color coded stickers around my amp jacks to match the 2231G2 line colors. Really, it takes about 1 minute to cable my rig now.

the pedals i'm using are fulltone fulldrive, boss tuner, boss compressor, boss eq, dan electro cool cat chorus, and boss delay. 3 pedals go to my amp input, 2 pedals are in my FX loop. all are lo power 9VDC pedals except the cool cat, which is 18VDC.

jody page at Stage Magic was very helpful and patient in making sure i got the right model PedalSnake. i did call back to get. an RS2 Dual GLine and an MF2 Dual PLine. again, jody helped me figure out the best thing to get. i use the Dual GLine for my FX loop (using only ONE G2 Base Snake channel for Send AND Return). i use the Dual PLine to run the 18VDC power supply and the 9VDC power supply to the pedals thru ONE G2 Base Snake channel. So, by replacing Single GLine and PLine Pigtails with Duals, I run an extra supply AND still have a spare MIDI channel on the G2 Base Snake!
i was lucky my Mesa LoneStar amp did not have a tube FX Loop. Jody said tube FX loops can sometimes create a ground loop with the amp input. a 2nd 9VDC power would've been needed to "isolate" the FX loop from the input, but that wasnt necessary with the LoneStar.

Thats the beauty of this product; It simplifys everything!!!! I stumbled across PedalSnake in Guitar Player Magazine. I remember envying the guys that had Professionaly built rigs that had power and signal cables running down to their boards. The pedals boards were hooked up by one cable and my attempts to this ended up in failure. It either sounded terrible due to the proximity of power cables to signal cables and/or looked horrible. Im a freak for a very clean, organized setup. After Jody talked me through ways of using the PS with several different rigs, I was able to use my board with all of them, without any changes!!! Set up is ridiculously easy and Hangin out playing while the other guys are not even close to half way done.

My pedal snake has 2 signal cables, 3 power cables and 1 Midi cable. I run a Visual Sound OneSpot to power the 9vdc fx and midi switch( they are all daisy chained at the Pedalboard) a 9vac for my Talkbox and a 9vdc for my Whammy Pedal. One signal cable goes from my wireless back at the amp out to the Pedalboard and the other goes back to the amp. This all goes through 8 fx and the sound quality is no different than a 6ft cord from guitar to amp. Im happy about that to say the least

I am of the belief that If you can dream it( Or have a nightmare about it LOL) it can happen at a gig. By installing strain reliefs at either end and properly anchoring the Pedalsnake in your pedalboard and back at your amp, This product should last a very long time. I am considering ordering another one because I think it is taboo to gig without backups of anything. I have contingencies in the event of catastrophic failure, but I dont foresee them happening, this thing is built to last

Its such a simple idea but thats the beauty of it; Its genius is its simplicity. Im amazed that it hasnt been done sooner. Very easy to use. This snake has changed my life. I used to run 4 guitar cords and a big ass AC power cord out to my pedalboard. Now it's just one color coded cable with everything I need. My 4 "guitar" connections are due to an EFX loop plus a wireless on top of my amp that has to run signal out to the pedals. I color coded my "amp end" connections to match the PedalSnake line colors. I setup in 3 min instead of 15 now. The 1/2" thick snake is flexible and coils up in my pedalboard case when i'm done with the gig.

The CS Custom Shop snake at www.pedalsnake.com now seem to have shrink over the plug and cable.

This is a unique product, not necessarily an effect, but an accessory. A fabulous accessory that any stage guitarist should consider. The Pedal Snake is basically a "cable snake" of multiple cables contained in one main casing, so that you only have one cable running from your amp to your pedal board, cleaning up your floor set up in a major way. it is incredibly easy to use. The amp end is clearly marked, and all the wires are pre-wired with the types of connectors you need to plug into AC, amps, effects, MIDI, etc... Likewise, the pedalboard end is clearly marked and prepared to plug into everything you have on stage. You lay it down, plug it in and it works! This is such a simple idea it amazes me that no one thought of it sooner. It is a fabulous way to reduce the number of lines running from your feet to your amp down to one line, and eliminating power cords, DC wall warts and extension cords. I now have just the one pedal snake running my 9volt footpedals, my MIDI trigger for my effects rack, and my guitar signal. It is great!
Sound Quality
:10
Since basically this is wire and cable, there is no sound. Most important, the cable does not impart any unwanted sound into your system. While there are both DC power and line level signals in the same snake, there is no hum, or noise. I can not hear any difference between my signal through the pedalsnake or through my old 1/4" cables.
Reliability
:10
Stage Magic's owner, Jody Page, is completely customer driven. He asked me a lot of questions before recommending a particular configuration. You can get a wide variety of numbers of 1/4" lines, DC lines, midi lines, etc... So, Jody recommended a particular set up for me, which I ordered. When it arrived, I had two problems. First, the midi cable did not work. Second, the single DC line seemed to have an imcompatibility problem when I ran my three particular footpedals off the same DC line. Jody was incredibly gracious and accomodating. I returned the first snake and ordered a longer one with a slightly different configuration. Jody credited me back on the first one and the second one is perfect. I have had no problems with it and it is very reliable. Obviously, you are dealing with soldered cables and connectors and you have to treat them with respect, but if you don't abuse or misuse them, it is as reliable as any guitar cable.
Customer Support
:10
As mentioned above, Jody was great to work with. he was patient with my lack of technical knowledge, was focused on identifying my specific needs and building the best configuration for my rig. When I had a problem he offered many suggestions on how to fix it or reconfigure it. When none of his ideas worked, he gladly took back the first one and made me another, which works perfectly. he asked me lots of questions about my specific gear to try and understand what the problem was so that he could solve it for future customers. Perfect customer service!

I run several Tom Anderson guitars through a Samson Airline wireless, a Crybaby Wah, direct into a Mesa Road King head. I have a Lexicon MPX200 in one FX loop and a rackmount tuner in the other loop. My footpedal houses, a DIgitech midi footcontroller, the Mesa King Kontroller, the wah and the wireless receiver. My pedal snake powers the three footpedals/wireless, sends the 1/4' guitar signal to the amp input and sends the midi signal through a midi modification on the pedalsnake. The only cable that wasn't available on the pedalsnake was the 9-pin powered DIN cable that Mesa Boogie uses. here's hoping that Jody can incorporate that into future generations.
I love the convenience of having only one cable to connect, and elinimating power at my footpedal. I am not aware of anything like it on the market. This is something every performing musician should consider. The only thing I would change is that I would make the fan at the amp end a little longer. it is a stretch to get the 1/4" input into the front of my amp head and the midi plug into the back of the rackmount midi effects unit. It takes every inch of the 2 foot span. otherwise, I love this snake.

This product is very easy to use. The color-coded wires make setting up and tearing down a breeze even in poor stage lighting. This is one of those products that make you ask "Why didn't someone think of this sooner?"

I was skeptical at first about the smaller gauge wires being used in this product but was pleasantly supprised when I plugged it all in. The PedalSnake worked exactly as advertised with no cross-talk or signal loss.

Like with anything (strings, tubes, etc.), I would recomend bringing back-up cables if you were going to gig with this product. I played a gig with the PedalSnake just a few days after I recieved it and it worked great. The only thing I am concerned about is that there is a bit of stress on the wire going to the input of my Amp right next to the 1/4 inch jack. It seems like that wire caries most of the weight of the PedalSnake on my set-up so I would like to see some more reinforcement around the jacks that go to the amp end. Everything seems very sturdy overall and I'm quite confident that this product will last a while.

Jody at Stage Magic was very helpful and quick to respond to my e-mails. After a bit of a mis-communication with Paypal (which was Paypal's fault, not Stage Magic's), they shipped my PedalSnake the same week. It was a pleasure to do business with them.

I use this product with a PRS Custom 24 and several Jacksons going into a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. My guitar goes into a BOSS TU-2, an Ernie Ball volume pedal, a Dunlop 535Q wah pedal, then to the input of my amp. My FX loop consists of a BOSS eq pedal, a BOSS chorus pedal, then a BOSS digital reverb/delay pedal. The sound quality is as good with my PedalSnake as it was when I was using Monster Cables plus the added convienience short set-up and tear-down times. I would definitly recomend this product to anyone who gigs or moves their equipment around a lot. The PedalSnake is a lifesaver for anyone playing gigs.

The pedalsnake is a must item. I bought the 1642 model ( 16 feet long, 4 input cables, 2 power cables) to run from a Furman SPB-8 pedalboard to my mesa/boogie dual rectifier. I use a wireless system also. The pedalsnake is simple and easy to use and greatly diminished my setup and tear down time which is priceless in my book.

I notice no difference between use of the pedalsnake versus separate guitar chords. The cables are of good quality and no extraneous noise has made itself apparent by using the product.

Only time will tell and this is the part that will make or break this product. If one of the cables in the pedalsnake go bad I do not forsee anyway to replace the cable by the nature of the product. Let's face it....even expensive Monster cables that have a lifetime guarantee will fail eventually. I expect this item to perish sooner or later as I do any cable or piece of gear for that matter. I hope that I get my money's worth before this happens. If the test of time is favorable for this item then it is a grand slam. As far as a backup goes I think any well prepared guitarist should have a few spare cables in the gig bag. I have have spare cables, tubes, etc no further away than my car. I think having backup cables is just realistic and in doing so does not reflect in some imperfection of the pedalsnake or any other cord manufacturer.

I bought this item off of ebay from Stagemagic. The item was bought on Tuesday and at my doorstep by Thursday. The service could not have been better. The item comes with a 30 day gurantee....I wish it was longer than this but it did not stop me from buying the item. I did not think to ask if they can or will repair a unit if need be. Hopefully, by the time this sucker intrinsically dies I will feel that I got my money's worth and would simply buy another one.

This is a must have item for any consistantly gigging guitar player who is tired of the duck taped spaghetti mess of guitar cables. The item fits in my pedalboard case so I leave everything plugged into the pedalboard. You simply plug into the my amp and fx loop for easy setup and then unplug the cables from your amp at closing time and role the snake back into your pedalbag still hooked up to your pedals/pedalboard. I am thrilled that someone finally made a good product that should have been made years ago.

Extremely easy to use. I decided to try this because I play a lot of casuals and tuxedo gigs and have always thought that the general disarray of my cables takes away from the overall presentation. A neater backline is almost always good. The ease of setup also intrigues me.

Every bit as quiet as my usual cable/power runs. Not especially noisy at all.

Cables are similar to the small diameter George Ls and strain relief on the initial run (I supposedly have one of the first 6 off the line) looks a little iffy. I'm usually very careful with my gear, but yankers beware... you may need to be very careful with these. Aside from that, hardware and construction appear top notch. ALWAYS carry at least a couple spare cables. Always. Will reserve judgment on reliability until after I've beaten up on this a bit.

This looks to be a useful tool for anyone trying to get better organized onstage or who wants to shave a few minutes from setup and teardown times. I've played for 30 years now and it's about time that someone engineered something like this for the perpetually sloppy guitarist. Perhaps in the future they'll offer custome cable configurations with Moster or George L stock... They may already for all I know. Anyway, looks like a good answer to a longtime stone in many a guitarist's shoe.

Not an effect, but a power/signal snake to make using pedals easier. This is a one cable snake that goes from the backline to the guitarists footpedal allowing 1 cable for all signals and power to be carried with no noise. With one power strip by my amp, I can have the amp and my Boss power supply plugged in. The Pedal snake carries the signal from my wireless to the pedal chain and back to the amp. there is another signal path in the snake for when I want to run the effects loop as well. so with 1 cable I have the primary guitar path, the effects loop and DC power all supplied to the pedal board. Makes for quick setup (color coded plug ends) and a neater looking stage.
