1. Running through an all valve Laney LC-50II / Fender Stratocaster HSS USA Deluxe / Rickenbacker 330.
2. No unwanted noise. I have not run it at a very high level yet.
3. Influences, Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hendrix, REM, Oasis, Paul Weller etc. This pedal is perfect for these sorts of sounds.
The whole pedal is good, no really bad sounds

I have been playing guitar for 29 years and have tried a lot of equipment. In my oppinion it is better to have one pedal that sounds great mixed with the natural valve sounds of the amp.
If lost or stolen I would definitely buy another
I compared to boss, and quite a few other pedals, but this is the one that gave me all I wanted.
I wish it had a footswitch for the higher gain and a true natural bypass when switched off.

Just 'caus ethe pedal is easy to use doesn't mean I like the sound. I've tried long and hard to fall in love with the Mudhoney, but the sound is just to middly for me. It really sounds exactly like a boosted tubescreamer. There is very little bass to the sound, and the top end goes from dark to ice picky too easily. Maybe the fault is mine for buying the wrong product, but I want something more transparent.

I bought this pedal for my second pedal board. I wanted to replace the Toadworks Death Rattle on that board, which I use in conjunction with my Keeley BD2. On my main board are an OCD, a Reezafratzitz and an original TS808. I've also gone through a V Twin, a Box of Rock, a Guyatone tube driven overdrive and a MIJ DS1 in my time.
I will admit that you can get a nice low gain, warm sound from the Mudhoney, and also a great fat fuzzy tone at high gain. What I'm failing to get out of it are any transparent Marshally tones in the mid ground without that real mid hump.
Sorry - I stil love T Rex as a company and product line, but this pedal is not for me.

I've been searching for a good distortion for a long time and have been let down ALOT (im very picky)until i got this pedal.
It didnt sounds like cheesy processed metal distortion. It wasnt mushy and break apart when you played chords. It has bass behind it and still can cut through. Its a good all around distortion
No noise, exept when the pedal is off you can hear faint distortion sounds behind the clean sounds of the guitar, it's not loud.

Man, this is the only pedal that gives me everything!!
I play in hardrock band, in a funk band and some heavy stonnerrock/doom violence and a gig or rehearsal is never the same without this pedal.
I play on a strat and a modded Ibanez and plug them in a fender bassman silverface70. But also on an cheaper crate or marshall valvestate this thing brings me satisfaction!!
You can use this as a heavy distortion pedal, but also as a tubescreamer and it's never noisy.

Let me start by saying that I'm a foot pedal virgin, this is my first one. I checked out reviews and sound fragments for weeks on the internet and narrowed my choice down to about 4 different foot pedals before choosing this one, mainly because this is the one they had in the shop and also the other ones on my list (Zvex - box of rock, Damage control - womanizer, Robert Keeley - Fuzz head) were much more expensive, this was 150 euro's, the next on the list, the Fuzz head was 200. The Mudhoney is very easy to get good sounds from, as long as you remember why you bought this pedal in the first place and don't complain afterwards "It's not producing the sound I want". I mean, how hard can something be with three knobs and a boost button.

My setup: I have an Ibanez ART500 (no reviews of this guitar yet, I'll try and write one) and a VOX AC15CC1 (whafedale speaker), that's it, nothing has been modified. The mudhoney is noiseless for me. The VOX only omits a very very low hum and adding the mudhoney adds no extra noise whatsoever.
The sound is glorious, it's every bit the same as how you think the name Mudhoney should sound, thick, creamy but smooooooth, with gain turned to zero it adds a tiny bit of grit to the VOX sound, at three "I've got those blues", especially the neck pickup. At 12 and full on gain you get from nice 70's rock to AC/DC and more.
Onto the boost, this is Fuzz territory and also sounds great. The VOX maintains it's string clarity even through the fuzz. Remember what I said earlier, don't forget why you bought this pedal, if you want a fuzz pedal get a good fuzz pedal, but if you can live with the great fuzz that this has then you get blues/rock/fuzz in 1 pedal.
I can't really get the sound of my favourite artist with this but then I can't even play stuff from my favourite artist, anyway that's not why I bought it. I bought it for blues and rock and the Mudhoney as our american friends quite rightly say, kicks ***.

I only started playing guitar in January 2008, practice pretty much everyday for at least 2 hours after work and try and play any type of music that comes my way, depending on my mood and the 'homework' I get from my teacher. This pedal is a great purchase adding much needed distortion to the VOX without having to turn the VOX up to neighbour maddening loudness. If stolen or lost I'd probably try and buy something else because I like change not because this is a bad pedal.
Overall it's a very sexy looking pedal, lovely colour, smooth turning chicken head knobs and glorious sound. If there was one thing I think I would prefer on this pedal is that the boost was built into stomp button just like the on and off button but this is because I only play at home. I can imagine if gigging, that whilst banging away on stage you don't want to have the added difficulty of having to choose the correct button, you just want to to whack your foot down, so my wanting an extra button is not a criticism, just something I'd like to save me having to bend down.

Gain, tone, level, and a boost switch. I really dig the stomp switch on it. It's solid, and it switches on and off smoother. Plastic battery door. It's nearly impossible to dial a bad sound out of this. Very easy to get the sound you want.
I wish they'd change the boost switch to another stomp switch. Makes sense, right, T-Rex?

I run a Strat and an LP into a Fender and Laney tube amps. I'm in a poppy bluesy rock type of band, and this pedal is fantastic. I've been using a Keeley modified Sparkle Drive. As far as tube screamers go, there was nothing better than the Sparkle Drive for me. However, like many Screamers, it had that exaggerated mid hump. I do love the screamer hump, but I wanted an OD pedal that is more rounded. Mudhoney does just that. Well, and much more. The boost button can be interesting. I dig how it changes the characteristic a little bit, and love the fuzziness to the sound with it on. However, this is not a fuzz pedal. You can get a nice fuzzy od/distortion sound out of it, but don't expect a great fuzz tone, 'cause this is not a fuzz pedal. My favorite sound is Gain on 9 o'clock, level at 12 o'clock, tone on 2 o'clock, and with boost on. That gives me a VERY juicy tone for both the strat and the LP. That gives me a nice jazzy tone with slight OD, that's ready to ROAR with hard picking. I'm not ready to toss out the Sparkle Drive just yet, but I can see this pedal is going to get a whole lot more use. Bass response is amazing!

For blues, jazz, and poppy rock, this is it. I really like the transparency of this pedal, and how sensitive it is to your right hand. If you have a tube amp, and run this in front of it, it's just a bliss. I love the bass response, and clarity throughout the entire bandwidth. I love how broad the tone is compared to the tube screamer type pedals. I've only owned this pedal for about 12 hours, and I've already discovered so many different sounds out of it, and I can't wait to explore even more. If a pedal can inspire you write, I'm all for it.

I replaced a sovtek vintage big muff with the Mudhoney. It is huge, big and fuzzy like the muff(in the boost mode with a lot of gain)but it has a better sound quality, every note is clear and come out trough the wall of sound...simply spectacular!
I owned a lot of distortion pedals(rats,muffs,boss...)but the T-rex is the best in every way!I use it in the fuzz mode...sustain lasts forever(more than a big muff)it is rich and creamy and it has a cool yellow led.

Straightforward pedal. 3 'Chickenhead' knobs and a footswitch. Given an 8 because of the mode switch. Really should have a second footswitch to switch between overdrive and fuzz on the fly.

'64 Les Paul Jr through a Fender 'The Twin' amp, and an Ampeg Superjet.
The overdrive portion of the Mudhoney has the most lush, rich, musical-sounding overdrive I have ever heard from a pedal, period. Just a great usable sound suitable for classic rock sounds with the gain anywhere from 10 o'clock all the way to 5 o'clock. Below 10 o'clock it serves more as a clean boost, but even at lower levels (and maybe more so at lower levels) it has a great shimmer of dirt that really comes out as you play harder. Very sensitive and very expressive.
The 'fuzz' portion of this pedal is unbelievable. This is my main distorted sound for live. The overdrive portion is for recording (more clarity for layering guitar parts). The fuzz is very versatile in that the gain range is very wide allowing you to start out with a slight overlap of gain level from where the overdrive leaves off. Once you get the gain past 3 o'clock some definite Sabbath fuzz starts to kick in. As indicated by the name this pedal has a thick warm sound, and I have not been able to pull a biting 'shredder' sound out of it (to my complete joy!). I have played many a distortion pedal and would compare this pedal (very favorably) to the Fulltone Full Drive 2. I have been using this pedal for about 3 years now, and have had many compliments on my guitar tone.
All pedals are wildly overpriced, but you get what you pay for. Saw one on ebay for 125 today. Make no mistake, this IS a boutique pedal and is head and shoulders above anything you'll pick up at a Guitarget.

I had a kid looking at my pedal board break the 9v input on the Mudhoney, and had to send it back to the distributor. I was taken care of with great care. Because I had a show a few days later they paid to overnight the pedal to me. Dana B. Goods down in California - great people, very professional.

Overall the Mudhoney is the distortion pedal for me. Great tone, very expressive. Think of that Mesa/Boogie/POD/Modeling grind that everyone and their mom is slapping down for scream-o mountain dew commercial crap - this pedal is the opposite of that. Organic. The only reason this pedal isn't a '10' is the lack of a metal footswitch to control the fuzz / overdrive channels. Obviously I love this pedal, but try a Fulltone Full Drive 2 if you don't dig the T-Rex. Would buy another. This is my secret weapon.

Very straightforward pedal, distortion, volume, and tone knobs, boost switch. The black chickenheads look very cool on the creamy orange case (my girlfriend might know the proper name of that color, it certainly isn't orange the way oranges are - sweet looking pedal!)
But the fact that the tone knob is very close to the pushbutton combined with its elongated shape unfortunately carries the risk of accidentally changing the setting when stomping on it in a hurry, so I had to ruin the good looks by fixing the button with a strip of duct tape.
Otherwise, everything as it should be.

Very versatile. Without the boost switch engaged, it is a warm, fat OD that can also be used to boost an already distorted amp. In this setting I use it as a solo boost for my 2-channel 50W Soldano head.
With the boost switch engaged, the effect is way more radical. Turn the distortion knob past midnight and you get thick, soupy, gooey fuzz. Used on the neck humbucker of my guitar I can get very extreme sounds on low chords that are more reminiscent of an old analog synth than a guitar - sawtooth distortion, though I might be a tad out of my depth here.
On neck PU leads, you can get sweet, dark, raspy, cello-like tones that just never stop, while on the neck PU the sound becomes just ... radiant ... but still no less sweet. Makes me enjoy the long notes very much.
Currently I'm fiddling with it in front of a one-channel 1x10 solid-state combo that was built by a highly competent amateur radio nerd and that sounds inexplicably awesome for its size. I'm hunting for sounds to use in electronic music and getting very good initial results. This pedal has lots of useful, creative uses.
What this pedal does not do is sound bright and aggressive. You get a good punch out of it when it's in the boost setting, but the distortion mode is a highly relaxed affair. Consequently, some players might find it not "quick" or responsive enough for their needs.

Quibble: The mechanism for opening the battery compartment is very stiff. Theroetically you'd need kinda long, very tough fingernails to open it. Mine are too short, so I use a screwdriver, which was bound to go wrong eventually. Now the latch of the battery compartment has a fine crack, and I'm powering the thing with a 9V adapter anyway.
Functionally there is no reason to assume this pedal could ever fail me. I always gig without a backup.

Wonderful pedal. I used to pooh-pooh distortion pedals (tried quite a few, Boss, DOD, cheapskate latter Ibanez, Muff, never kept them) and rely on the very adequate gain channel of my amp instead, with a volume pedal for rhythm/lead changeover.
The Mudhoney has brought me around. I would definitely get the same again.
