I use the replica with my pedalboard rig. I use a 20 space rack (mainly eventide/lexicon gear)with modded bogner uberschall for my higain stuff. And a 67 super reverb for my cleans/mild rock tones. I have 200-300 pedals...so maikng my board is VERY hard to do. i use usa G&l guitars..and a 79 les paul artist. i have had just about all the delays you can think of DMM, Dm2, ad80, dd2,3,5,6...ibanez ad9,de7, rockman echo...none of them are close to the replica..honestly its arguably in the class of the 3,000 lexicon or eventide delays. just without all the parameters..it sounds like a GREAT tape echo...or a super clean digital...with the touch of a button...

Fairly easy to use, except that i don't like the level control. When i need to boost my signal i'll use a boost pedal. The subdivision isn't very useful for me, you need to play with a metronome to make it work. This is a digital pedal, changing the tempo switches off the delay for about 1 second???? very annoying.

Sound is ok but this pedal is way overpriced. A 99$ dan echo sounds pretty much similar.

This pedal doesn't sound bad but 400 euros is really crazy money for what you get. I don't understand the hype. I very much prefer my boss space echo for vintage style echos or even a dan echo. I sold it after 2months of use and i don't regret it.
Please don't follow the hype, spend your money on more useful stuff.

Very straight forward. Make sure you use the given power supply, and I think the rest is straight forward.
The subdivision function does work (a little cumbersome however), if you don't understand the manual go check out proguitarshop.com's review they show you how.

I really do believe this is the best digital delay out there. It sounds fantastic.
Playing it through various Fenders (all-tube) and it is a delightful effect.
It has the clarity and noiseless response of digital, but somehow retains that analog warmth.

This is essentially why I am writing the review. I do not usually do this.
I bought the product 2nd hand. After some traveling the pedal developed a high frequency noise that occured on every repeat, which made it unusable.
I phoned all the dealers in the USA, and no one would help as I needed to go through the retail store (but, I bought it 2nd hand!)
I emailed TRex, they responded IMMEDIATELY. I sent them the pedal, and they fixed it FREE OF CHARGE.
Extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
I have had problems with other manufacturers, and this kind of support is incredible.
I will continue using their products, and when I look for new pedals their range is the first I will be checking out.
Phenomenal.

Here's the deal, this guy is digital and it sounds digital even in the brown sound mode. I really wanted to like this pedal but I'm old school tube amps, noisey single coils, and analog delays. I kept hearing digital artifacts slightly in certain rythmic patterns and it just felt too thin. People say this is too dark? Man I think it is too thin and digitized. I have a Mooger 104z that I absolutely love and a Keeley AD9 and Maxon AD999 which are really cool as well, the Replica just didn't cut it for me, I AB'd it against my friends Diamond Memory Lane and this was no contest, just like the Moog, the Replica fails in the lush category, it ain't very lush. Matter of fact it wasn't all that much better than his DD20, though it was more transparent. It's a nice pedal if your a digital guy, but I guess I'm not one. For my ears, the Moog and Diamond are hands down the best, but I haven't tried the Retro Sonic yet, but will likely pick one up!!
I hate to give it a low rating because everyone has different tastes. I was unimpressed, probably because of the high expectations from the press.

I think the Replica is a fine pedal for digital guys, but likely overpriced in the ever changing and developing digital market. It is quiet but not absent of digital artifacts. It in no way sounds analog, there's simply no mojo to it - and I know Mojo Vibe - great pedal!! Just a fair warning to analog delay guitarist - please search elsewhere!! I returned mine after a week of really really wanting to like this because of all the press. I will likely pick up a Retro Sonic for my smaller board, Tim makes great pedals. Plus analog not only sounds better to me, it retains its value much better than the latest digital fad. Check out Ebay these days, I saw a couple Replicas go for around $250-275. This isn't very good resale value for a boutique pedal with such accolades
If the Replica was $200 I would consider it a good buy. But like all digital stomp boxes, they tend to depreciate as their technology become outdated - take the DL4 for example, I unloaded this one too after years of use and frustration. $400 for this pedal is overpriced given the recent competition in the digital realm such as Eventide and TC Nova If you really want one, they will be out there for $200-250 on Ebay soon. I think the Replica will be falling in price or fading away into DL4 land.

OK, I'm Bobby and I admit when I'm wrong, and I'm wrong. It works, but the explanation of how it works could probably be better.
Here goes: 90 bpm, subdivision off. Tap tempo and you get a repeat every beat. Subdivision on, tap the same tempo and you get more than a repeat every beat. I didn't quite get triplets, but I got more than one bpm.
Very subtle. You can come close to achieving this with other delays just be setting the tempo faster, but for exact timing (band situation) it's very helpful to know you'll be at the correct timing.
Again, very subtle. You will not hear it without a metronome.
I think the subdivision function could be explained better to prevent some of the confusion out there.

The subdivision is not hard to use. In fact, it's easy to use. You know how to tap a tempo, right? Well all you have to do is press the subdivision button before you tap the tempo. Not after, not at the same time. Before. And you can't use the tempo knob with the subdivision button, only tap tempo. Sounds pretty easy doesn't it? And mine doesn't work!!! I returned it for another unit and the other one didn't work either!! Again, the instructions to follow to get it to work are not hard, yet it still doesn't work. With all the problems people seem to have with the subdivision function, do you think everybody is stupid or do you think that it just doesn't work? So it's easy to use in theory, but yet it doesn't work, too bad I can't give it a zero.

Before you all go thinking I'm a complete dumbass, I sat down with this thing for hours! With a metronome! Even though you shouldn't need a metronome to know that you're not getting triplets when you tap a tempo of 1 - - - 2 - - - 3 - - - 4 and you get 1 - - - 2 - - - 3 - - - 4 in return instead of 1 2 3, 2 2 3, 3 2 3, 4 2 3. Those are triplets are they not? Oh wait, maybe I hit the subdivision button after I tapped the tempo, oh wait, no, I hit the subdivision button first. Or did I hit the subdivision button and then dial in a tempo? No, I tapped in a tempo. I think you get it. I followed the instructions and even tried every other combination of pushing buttons and turning knobs, to no avail. So try your luck if you like, but make sure you can return it in case the subdivisions don't work for you either.

Intuitive.
Pity there's no read out in miliseconds but its not a problem.. the tap tempo is gr8 and maybe even better than a time read-out anyway?
Manual does a great job.

Like other reviewers before me, I too have enjoyed various delay pedals and rack units. I was happy with my DD20... I didnt rate my Korg SDD1000 or whatver it was... but the Replica is by a million miles the best sounding delay unit of any type I have encountered or owned. Including a Roland space echo and a deluxe memory man.
I dont know how it does what it does, but the echo never clashes with the "dry" sound... I've never been able to get close to the spacey echo effect on David Gilmour's Time solo from DSOTM. To me one of THE great solos featuring delay..., I can now... And Mr Gilmour had a Replica on his 2006 tour - see the pics at gilmourish.com.
Nails Andy summers and the Edge if they float your boat... Its a high quality little box and I love it to bits.
Its worth every penny of the asking price.

Cant believe my ears!!!!! I have used both Boss and Digitech and were happy with both. I was not even in need of a new Delay pedal but i bought this just to see if it was really as good as people say.
Well..........YES IT IS!!!!! Its amazing. I'm using a Les Paul Standard into a Mesa Express 5:50 with the Delay in the loop and i can get really strong sustain style delay like Petrucci, Vai, Satch with this pedal and even though i could do it well with the Boss or Digitech, this pedal just sounds so much better. Its just on another level.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!

Very easy to use. The taptempo and subdivision buttons make it easy to find the desired tempo of the song. I??m used to program rackeffects but I often prefer the sound of stompboxes, this is no exception. No need to scroll through parameters and menues
just to change the effects level.

Sound quality is superb. I have had lots of delay stompboxes (Line6, Akai, Boss, Digitech) but this one is the best so far. I did listen to the new Mad Professor delay at a guitarshow a few weeks ago. That??s probably in the same league but it doesn??t have taptempo.
I still prefer my Boss DM-2 analog delay for shorter delays but for distorted solos the Replica
is excellent. Digging both the digital delay sound and the brown sound with treble cut from the delayed signal. Did like my DD-20 a lot but I will probably get more play time.
The Replica is a bit pricey but I??m willing to spend a little more to get top class sounds.

I??ve been playing since -86. Using Gibson, Fender and PRS guitars.
Pedalboard effects chain:
Fulltone Clyde Wah > True bypass looper > (Loop 1 tuner) > (Loop 2 Digitech Whammy) > Foxrox ZIM overdrive > Himmelstrutz Fetto distortion > BJF BPB booster > Boss DD-20 delay > amp (VOX AC15TBX or Mesa Boogie Stiletto Trident and Marshall 4x12)
The rest of my effects are put in a rack controlled with a T-Rex midi switching system:
Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe > MXR Phase 90 > Boss VB-2 vibrato > Fulltone Choralflange >
T-Rex Tremster > Boss DM-2 analog delay > T-Rex Replica delay.
