Intuitive.
Pity there's no read out in miliseconds but its not a problem.. the tap tempo is gr8 and maybe even better than a time read-out anyway?
Manual does a great job.

Like other reviewers before me, I too have enjoyed various delay pedals and rack units. I was happy with my DD20... I didnt rate my Korg SDD1000 or whatver it was... but the Replica is by a million miles the best sounding delay unit of any type I have encountered or owned. Including a Roland space echo and a deluxe memory man.
I dont know how it does what it does, but the echo never clashes with the "dry" sound... I've never been able to get close to the spacey echo effect on David Gilmour's Time solo from DSOTM. To me one of THE great solos featuring delay..., I can now... And Mr Gilmour had a Replica on his 2006 tour - see the pics at gilmourish.com.
Nails Andy summers and the Edge if they float your boat... Its a high quality little box and I love it to bits.
Its worth every penny of the asking price.

The best I've heard.
I reckon the T-Rex claim that this is THE best delay pedal is true.
It's a no brainer. If you can afford it buy it.

Cant believe my ears!!!!! I have used both Boss and Digitech and were happy with both. I was not even in need of a new Delay pedal but i bought this just to see if it was really as good as people say.
Well..........YES IT IS!!!!! Its amazing. I'm using a Les Paul Standard into a Mesa Express 5:50 with the Delay in the loop and i can get really strong sustain style delay like Petrucci, Vai, Satch with this pedal and even though i could do it well with the Boss or Digitech, this pedal just sounds so much better. Its just on another level.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!

Very easy to use. The taptempo and subdivision buttons make it easy to find the desired tempo of the song. I??m used to program rackeffects but I often prefer the sound of stompboxes, this is no exception. No need to scroll through parameters and menues
just to change the effects level.

Sound quality is superb. I have had lots of delay stompboxes (Line6, Akai, Boss, Digitech) but this one is the best so far. I did listen to the new Mad Professor delay at a guitarshow a few weeks ago. That??s probably in the same league but it doesn??t have taptempo.
I still prefer my Boss DM-2 analog delay for shorter delays but for distorted solos the Replica
is excellent. Digging both the digital delay sound and the brown sound with treble cut from the delayed signal. Did like my DD-20 a lot but I will probably get more play time.
The Replica is a bit pricey but I??m willing to spend a little more to get top class sounds.

Pedalboard effects chain:
Fulltone Clyde Wah > True bypass looper > (Loop 1 tuner) > (Loop 2 Digitech Whammy) > Foxrox ZIM overdrive > Himmelstrutz Fetto distortion > BJF BPB booster > Boss DD-20 delay > amp (VOX AC15TBX or Mesa Boogie Stiletto Trident and Marshall 4x12)
The rest of my effects are put in a rack controlled with a T-Rex midi switching system:
Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe > MXR Phase 90 > Boss VB-2 vibrato > Fulltone Choralflange >
T-Rex Tremster > Boss DM-2 analog delay > T-Rex Replica delay.

easy enuf to use compared to the EP3 echoplex I swapped for it
manual is concise
subdivision is sweet! really makes this pedal stand out from the rest of the crowd
I guess this is the older version- seems like there is at least 1 1/4 maybe 1 1/2 seconds of delay available
tap tempo- so useful - changing delay rate in the middle of a song is a major plus- can't see how I got by without it- so much easier than bending down and twiddling with the knob
not as easy as some effects to use but once you learn the functions it has a natural feel to it- ergonomically intelligent
Sound Quality
:

Love the brown button- successive repeats get darker and darker- alot like my tape delay without the noisy tape hiss
works with my home made wah and Fulltone OCD ( sorry - that is all I use on stage)
use it with a Vox AC15 and a 69 tele thinline
love the dreamy effect when it is dialed with just a hint of the effect in use (less is way more)- the subdivision feature really adds a rich complex backdrop to the music (like having a sound engineer in the back dialing your sound as you play)
very clean quiet delay, very happy with the sound

I play Indie rock in San Francisco - the Replica has enhanced my stage sound like no other effect has...tap tempo and subdivision are remarkable tools for real time changes to your sound.
Been playing in bands since the 1980's - I use Vox amps, Fender guitars, a delay, Full tone OCD and a custom Wah- that does it for me.
I have about 10 delay pedals... Boss DD-2, DD-3, DD-5, DOD FX90, Echoplex EP3, Rack delays, Boss XL Looper, CMATMODS Deeelay(if you don't want to spend the money on a Replica, buy a Deelay from CMATMODS- you will not be dissapointed)--- I am a Delay junkie!!!
I love the sound of my Echoplex but I don't trust it on stage- too many moving parts, it is 30 plus years old and needs continual maintenance.
the Replica has managed to cover the analog tape sound in my mind with no additional noise from tape hiss...
I traded an EP3 Echoplex for the Replica- pretty much a straight up swap in value as far as I see (I do have another EP-3 I won't be getting rid of any time soon). Those guys paying over 400 for an old Echoplex are crazy- Echoplexes ain't worth that much!!!- If you got to have one track them on EBay- be patient- I got mine for 116 dollars!!!
couldn't justify buying one at retail price- till I traded for one and found out what they can do for you.... it is a sophisticated device that is probably worth every penny at list price- I can't emphasize enough the value of tap tempo and subdivision in a live setting- amazing functionality
The only downer is the massive wall wart and the 12 volt rating ( need to carry two wall warts in my pedal board now- not a deal breaker but the wall wart could be a bit more compact if they wanted to sex it up a bit.

the best stompbox delay out there probably? maybe. It's sound is nothing short of amazing. The only bad thing about it is that it dosen't oscillate, but in my opinion, other than fun oscillation never really gives me anything (I won't use it in a song with my band).

RTE 3000 tape echo ( rexer/guyatone ) ???9???
Solid state ??? uses Ampex loop ??? 70-800ms ???
the unique thing was supposed to be proprietory
motor shut-off
??? the motor should shut off at zero input to save
tape life - uh-uh 60 cycle hum was enough to
keep it squirming ( fun to watch )
Colored tone a lot when off ??? this was no big deal ??? I used a
bypass loop thing ???
This way the motor stopped when not engaged.
I needed to replace the tape after 2 years
??? cost $15 ??? easy to do. There???s something just plain cool
about tape echoes
it even smelled good. Plus it had these UV meters all lit up
??? I set it on top of my amp and all the little lights
and dials made me a star ( maybe not ) After a
Couple of years the ???cool factor??? wore off and I got sick of
dragging it to gigs ???
I realized that the slap on my Ibanex box was actually better
- also longer time settings were TOO perfect
In distorted solos I lose some of immediate sizzle from
The tele bridge + Keeley + bassman ??? but ever single one
Of these toys does that. I don???t use echo on heavy break-up
Distorted suff ( I???m no Jeve Vatriani )
Didn???t really sound like a tape echo ??? sounds too good.
I had hoped that I would get that cool signal
Degradation from a tape echo ??? as it turns out a
NON tape echo box ( see below ) is where I
Found this magic eventually.
. Didn???t hold value well
Paid $760 sold for $325. Still I???m glad I had it for a while.
Fulltone TTE ???9???
This made me smile. Amazing workmanship. I preferred
the high speed ??? up to 650 ms
Very warm. High end was preserved better than the
Guyatone ( then it cost more also )
I never did change a tape on it.. I used it for 6 months
??? maybe 5 gigs. It doesn???t have the cool little meters
or as good of a smell as the Guyatone ??? but the TTE had
better tone me thinks.
. This did the sleepwalk 600 ms repeats fairly well.
Because it???s a tape style you can???t get the acoustic
chamber tone ??? but didn???t really expect to. Outrageously
well made unit. Held value better than the Guiyatone
??? paid $900 used sold: $850. If I was a studio person
and recorded original stuff and wanted elite equipment this
would still be with me. Like I said ??? I???m doing bar gigs.
REDUX ???10???
This was a surprise. It really does the 50s water tank sound
( only box that does this ) This box is where echo lives.
It has this ???offset??? knob that puts in a second bounce
??? you set it close to the first and the 600 ms repeats have
a wonderful out of phase color. It???s digital, true bypass.
. Max time is 700 ms ??? good for me.
( What do you do with 2 sec delay time anyway? )
so ??? for $200 you get a phasey kind of echo tone at long echo
settings that sounds better than a tape echo.( that???s right ??? better
than tape ) It sure doesn???t have the cool visual vibe
of either of the tape machines.
Like all the other boxes you lose some of that in your
Face tube sizzle using echo on distorted tunes.
The repeats enhance the primary notes but don???t overwhelm.
This is the thing I want for solos enhanced by echos in
The background and not stomping all over the melody.
them. Also you get Duane Eddy ( the real deal ??? cat???s ass of slap
back - this is what short spring ??? spring reverb is trying to
sound like ) No need to drag a big concrete water tank or
Tape machine into the bar. It???s 3 x 4 inches and you step on
the button. I don???t see any tapes that need changing or
moveable parts to break ??? then again ??? I do miss the little
yellow VU meters???..

Quite easy to use once you figure out the subdivision switch.
One small problem i had was that half the manual was missing from the box, so i had to download it from the T-rex homesite.
I rarely use the tempo knob unless i want an echo that's faster than i can tap. I simply LOVE the tap tempo, i heard that many people have problems with getting it to work, bit ?? think that they simply didn't know how to work the subdivision switch.

It's fantastic! The brown switch is realy usefull when you play stuff like fast and tight riffs the echo can get a little in the way, but with the brown switch on (wich is a high-cut filter) it won't do that.

Quite a lot of knobs in that one, but most of them (well, all of them but the subdivision thing) are really simple to use and do just what you thing they will. The subdivision thing is quite tricky, but I managed to get it right, and it's really nice.

Well, it is pricey but it is probably the only delay I'll ever need, and it was actually the cheapest option for me (It was against the Diamond Memory Lane, which is too weird for my taste and dosen't have a long delay, and the Hughes and Kettener Replex, which dosen't have a tap tempo and it's too pricey!). If it was lost or stolen I'd be really frustrated because it costs a lot... But I would get another one.

This pedal is very easy to use. There is a level knob, which you don't see on a lot of delays; I don't really play with this too much after I have set it to output at the same level when the pedal is on or off, but I could see it being useful in a recording situation. The other knobs are the standard tempo, repeat, and echo (mix) settings. The brown button will create a darker delay sound and gives the Replica another very useable voice. I don't really use the subdivision button, but it is important to note that this button only takes effect when tapping a tempo (some people seem to be confused about this). Having a tap button is great and is not a feature on many of the smaller, pedal board friendly delays.

I use a variety of guitars (Strat, Tele, Rickenbaker 370, Gretsch Country Classic) through a Tone King Meteor II amp, and this pedal sounds great with my setup. They didn't skimp on the A/D converters on this thing - it's quiet and makes a very accurate delay of the original sound. Keep in mind that this is not an analog delay, so it will sound much clearer; the brown button darkens it, but will not make it sound like a tape or analog delay.
Also, there are some digital delays out there that can't handle distortion or overdrive pedals very well. The Replica seems to handle these with ease and doesn't overload or create nasty digital artifacts.
This thing sounds like a studio quality effect.

I play modern and classic rock and this pedal can cover all of the bases. The delay time is very flexible, going up to 1.5 seconds, which is longer than most delay pedals out there. You can get great slapback sounds with a quick delay setting, or launch into outer space with longer settings.
One other thing that I was very happy to discover after owning this pedal for a while is that you can power it with a Pedal Power II power suppy, eliminating the need for the wall wart. You just need to set the to PP to put out 12.3 volts as opposed to the standard 9.
So - flexibility, great sound, and TRUE BYPASS to boot. What more can you ask for? The only possible negative I can think of is the price, but it is comparable to some of the analog delays out there and when you find something you love, it will keep you happy for years to come.

It is fairly easy to use. If you are very particular about your delay time the tempo knob can make drastic adustments with out much movement. The manuel is good, I wish there was more explanation on the tap tempo, (possibly a lack of my own familarity with the function).

Peavey Wolfgang-Planet Waves (truepassed tuner)-Clyde Deluxe Wah-Red Witch Moon Phaser-T-rex Replica-Mesa Boogie Triple Recto.
It's not noisy, except I will hear a little signal clip when I engage it on the clean channel. This does not effect or rob the tone at all. I bought it based purely on reviews. Maybe it's just me and my generation, but it decays a lot more than I would like. The repeats loose their clarity much quicker than I would like. I'm not looking for something sterile, just something that would repeat accurately without sacrificing tone or loosing signal quickly. This peddle does have a very analog feel. It would be nice though, if it felt digital with no decay in the repeats, and with no tone loss. Then you could use the brown switch to actually make it very analog feel, but it's not like that. The triple rectifier I use is already a very muddy sounding amp, then when I add this peddle to it, it kills the clarity and becomes extra muddy. I'm sure that on other amps the replica sounds amazing and adds warmth, but with the rectifier it is overboard. I've tried mine on the effects loop, and up front, but it just doesn't work. I do like how it doesn't affect my guitar tone, but with the high end cut, and the quick decay in the repeats it turns muddy in a hurry depending on your amp. I do like the way it feels with distortion, but it just isn't clear enough to my taste with my clean channel.

I've had no problems with this. It's seems very reliable. The knobs are very easy to turn if you need to make adjustments with your feet. The downfall of this it that the knobs are small, and too close to the switches, so if your not extremely careful when you engage the pedal you will accidently hit the knobs with your feet, and change the settings on the knobs, throwing your delay timings off. This can be very aggrevating in live situations.

I play everything from original modern rock, funk, phsycodelic, ska, experimental, and I don't know how to label it. I've been playing for 12 years. If it were lost or stolen, I would search to see what else is our there. I am very picky about my tone and my equiptment, this isn't bad, just not what I hoped for. This I'm sure is good as an analog replica (which it is). I just want something with modern day clarity and function that won't affect my tone. The best way to describe this is that it sounds old school without, the new school clarity. It sounds too brown from the "get go". I want clarity, without the sacrifice of tone, and true bypass. Email if you know who provides this.
