This is a great unit, maybe the people that think it's hard too use are probably people that use it for their guitar rig, this unit ISN'T really ment for guitar delay's, it's a studio/live sound processing unit, and it shows! GREAT DEVICE!

What is wrong here?? man what a bunch of whiners.
Take more than two minutes to tweak this unit...it's very complex, but it WILL DELIVER AWESOME SOUND AND SWEET DELAYS especially with some modulation introduced...awesome unit.
I only sold mine because I picked up a TC2290 for my studio.
I rate 9 on this because it's not the easiest to program but you'll figure it out soon enough.

I wouldn't complain about this unit or pay attention to some of the low reviews. These guys just plain couldn't have spent much time on the unit. It delivers..flat out...TC is not a bunch of idiots..they don't make junk...but their gear takes a few minutes to tweak your sound because the units do SO stinking much.
I simulated the TC2290...echoplex sounds (and I own a mint EP-3)...
and nearly everything else is in there...modulation is very nice.
I use Gibson LP's, Wolfgang USA, Mesa, Fender, Vox gear.
Unit is dead quiet for live or recording.
The effects are sterile if you want them to be, but you can dial in vintage sound by spending more than 30 seconds with the unit.
I will simply rate this a 9 because some will whine if I give it a 10...and it take more than a minute or two to tweak depending on what you're looking for 'tone'wise.

For you guys who were so hard on TC on this one...come on...that's not even fair. The guys at TC are musicians who design gear..not just a bunch of geeks...
Same thing for Vox...musicians who design gear...that's what I want...not just a geek designing electronics to sell.
If you spend enough time to get "your" sound on this, you will get it, or so close that it doesn't matter.
I understand that this won't fit everybodys needs..we all understand that, but this is a great product, it just takes a little time.

Ahh!!! I figured it out- Ok now this delay is perfect. This delay rules my world. This is my favorite delay- this is an addendum to two reviews down. I originally thought my setup settings couldn't be saved. I was wrong. I had my unit plugged into a power conditioner and used that to turn the unit on and off and that is why. After reading through TC Eclectronics support docs and FAQs on their site, I found the solution. You have to power down with the power switch on your D-Two for it to save settings.
Question
Why does my D-Two lose its settings when I power it off ?
Answer
You need to power the unit off with the front panel power knob if you want the D-Two to store the last settings you made, very much like you need to power off your computer in the right manner to get it to start up correctly.
If you don't do this, then it will recall the settings from last time you powered off on the front panel.

Typical for TC, easy acces to an amazing array of control parameters. If theur menu system confuses you, take the time to learn to understand it on one unit and you'll find that all their other units think similarly.

I use this in live and studio situations. They are silent in operation, extremely clean.

The displays have 'gone wiggy' on a couple of my units, and the value encoder knob can get scraped off in transit. But then again I am the 'Samsonite Gorilla" of live audio, so it's likely these are uncommon problems for humans.

Exquisite support. Call the nice people on the telephone, describe your problem, they take notes, promise to call you right back, ACTUALLY DO usually within minutes, and promtly give you the answers or ship you the parts you need. Without fail. Some of the best support I've encountered yet.

easy to program- anyone with half a brain can figure it out- you don't really need a manual.
The only thing that sucks is this: If you Press the Setup button, you can go in and set it so the footswitch jack acts as a bypass button you can hit with your feet. This setting does not get stored when you turn the unit off. It's default setting is Tap instead of bypass. Just a minor annoyance, basically you just have to go in and set this up every time you turn on the unit if you want to use it for a bypass footswitch LIVE like me. Not really a problem but that's the only gripe I have with my unit. Overall I love it.

Man I don't know why people say its sterile- It's clean and doesn't suck tone if that's what they mean but the sound has great stereo imaging and great headroom and it has so many settings you can practically create any delay sound you can think of.
Other delays I own: Roland RE-201 Space Echo, Digitech RDS7.6 Time Machine, MXR Time Delay, Digitech RDS1900, Ibanez UE405, Ibanez DM2000, Ibanez DM1100, Yamaha SPX90, Yamaha D1500, Line 6 Echo Pro, Vesta Kaza, Delta Labs Super Timeline, Delta Labs ADM256
-the TC D TWO beats them all- I take this thing over any of those any day. I used this to replace a Line 6 Echo Pro- which was the biggest piece of shit ever for keyboards. It had the most muddy sound of all time. It would never cut through and every effect sounded pretty much the same but I love my D-TWO

Dude mine has metal rack ears, not plastic like some reviewers say, so I don't know where the hell people got their TC D TWO from if it has plastic rack ears- off the back of a truck?? Mine is solid.
Yeah the knobs suck but but ehh set it and leave it is what I say. I just use it for a great dub reggae delay. IT rules

Some reviewers have complained about TC's MIDI and SYSEX stuff- blech- who needs it- I use it LIVE!!! so I just set a delay and go.
I have it in a 4 space rack with a Furman Power Conditioner, TC D-TWO, Rane SM82 mixer, Yamaha Motif Rack. I have this hooked up to a 76 key controller and have a pair of Yorkville E160P all with Mogami cables. IT sounds awesome

I am using this in a Bradshaw style rig in parallel. It is super quiet with tons of headroom. These may be the best delays I have ever had. they are clean and can be filtered to sound more analog. i was looking for a lot of stereo imaging and this unit delivers with ping pong options of L-R and L-C-R and the spatial effect which offsets the echo to one side by as much as 200 ms to add space.

There are two things I wish this unit had. A dual delay and tap tempo via control change. I insist on putting out effects that are lacking somewhere. How can you create a delay unit without a stereo delay in this day and age??? That said, this is the best delay I could find. It sounds amazing and has useful options. It is a great addition to my guitar rig.

IT'S NO BOSS. IF YOU LOVE COMPLEX SETUPS AND MENUS THEN GO FOR IT. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO KNOBS? REMEMBER THOSE? NOW LET'S MOVE ON TO THE (AHEM) "PRINTED MANUAL" (ROTFLMFAO!) IT'S LIKE BEING GIVEN A FUCKING CHINESE MENU AT A DENNY'S RESTAURANT. IT EXPLAINS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE POINT! SHIT, WHY STOP THERE TC? WHY NOT JUST CONDENSE THE VAGUE INFO INTO A CHINESE FORTUNE COOKIE? IF YOU GUYS LIKE TO SPEND YOUR TIME TRYING TO DECIPHER SHIT THEN RUN OUT AND BUY THIS THING IMMEDIATLY! YOU WILL LOVE IT! (GEE, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO INTUITIVE KNOBS?)

STERILE AS SHIT. AND BOY DO I MEAN STERILE! THIS THING IS SOOOOO DAMN STERILE THAT YOU'RE BOUND TO REDUCE YOUR SPERM COUNT EVERYTIME YOU "PLUG IN." I'LL TAKE A BOSS DELAY OVER THIS ONE ANY DAY. THIS THING SOUNDS FLAT! ANOTHER THING, THE FILTERS AND OTHER GRAB-BAG GIMMICKS SUCK!

A GENEROUS 2 IS ALL IT GETS FROM ME. SORRY FOLKS BUT I'M JUST SIMPLY NOT IMPRESSED. I SUPPOSE IF YOU LIKE STERILE & FLAT SOUNDING SHIT THEN KNOCK YOURSELF OUT. IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, I'VE HEARD BETTER DELAYS THAT WERE 20 YEARS OLDER THAN THIS. THE NEW BOSS DELAY OTOH PUTS THIS CRAP TO SHAME AND YOU CAN SPEND MORE TIME PLAYING AND LESS TIME TRYING TO PROGRAM THE THING AS IN THE CASE OF THE D-TWO.

Ease of use, hmm, well, it isn't simple, but it isn't hard either. It is super easy to use, but getting deep into the unit is complex. you can tweak everything. The manual is helpful to a point. doesn't address my more finite questions. I have been able to program some good sounds pretty easily, but there are some things I would like to do that will take a little trial and error. I had to enquire at the t.c. website for a couple of questions. ease of use gets a an 8. simplicity a 3, but I bought this motha for it's complexity, right?

I am using this in my guitar rig, I use a prs ce22, into a budda wah+, whammy 1, fulldrive 2, distortion pro, vox AC30. Wowee, is this thing cool. the delays are so clean, it does not mess with your original sound at all. I have used a boss dd 5 for a long time, I had no real idea just how much tone that thing sucked untill it was replaced with this. If you love delay, then you will love this. The filter effect on this is awsome, oyu can get a really nice tape echo going. This unit might be spendy, but this is a quality piece of gear. I would give this a 10 for sound quality. The boss dd5 in comparison would get about (i want to say 5, but..) I will give it a 6. I have had just about every delay unit available, and this is the best one yet.

I play spacey rock, I always have my delay on, so it is important for me to have a good versitle delay. I tried the line 6 dleay modeler, didn't like it too much. there seems to be sort of a chorusy wash at the end of it., I want lots of delay but also want my tone, the Dtwo, does the job. it is nice to be able to program the settings for each song in my set, and have exactly the right tempos, already my band is playing more consitantly. This the best delay unit I have ever used, (for now, I am a gear junky) but I haven't tri9ed a few of the more expensive ones yet. It is sort of spendy, but if you are serious about playing music then get good tools, messing around with that cheap shit is a waste of time, and kills insperation. If you are going to be a mechanic you buy good tools, not k-mart specials right? is there anything I wish it had , sure do, a money printer, a time machine, and jenna jamison anatomicaly correct vagina. 10

Simple! AND extremely flexible. I did have to refer to the manual for a few things, but then again, it was because it can do so much! And I do wish it had balanced XLR connectors (as oppsed to balanced 1/4"), but I'm being picky. The BEST studio-quality digital delay on the planet.

Way clean. And the filter settings give you plenty of tonal options. And the large number of presets (for a DELAY!) give you plenty of starting points. I have engineered a huge number of karaoke sound-alike sessions and have yet to hear a delay on a CD that I couldn't emulate with this.

Fantastic! I like simple delays (oh if the Effectron were stereo) and this one combines simplicity with lots of options and great t.c. sound quality. These guys have a history of redefining digital delays and they have done it once again with a fairly cost-effective piece. This is how studio gear SHOULD be!
