Pretty straight forward. I think I like the layout of the m-one xl better though. Also, I find its pretty easy to save over your presets on accident. I've done it a bunch of times and its irksome. Some would respond, well, be more careful and learn the piece of gear so you don't erase your own patches. And they would be correct. Nonetheless, I've never owned a piece of gear that I continuously erase over my own preset on accident. I mostly use it for vocal reverb and snare reverb in the dual mono configuration.

Sound Quality : 9
Reverbs sound great, LOTS of editing parameters but I find it kind of annoying that different reverbs have different editing parameters available. I have to question whether this box is worth the 300 dollar difference over the m1xl. The m1xl is a great sounding piece especially for the price, and the m2000, while perhaps slightly better sounding, doesn't really justify that much of a price difference in my opinion. More on why later on in the review.

Reliability : 9
Bought it used a few months ago, still works and I've never had any issues w/ TC gear whatsoever.

Customer Support : 9
I've emailed them questions before and they're very quick and helpful to respond.

Overall Rating : 8
I work in live sound and used the m1xl for a while before I bought the m2000. I like the m2000, but there's a few things that bug me about it. One, the delay only goes to just over 1 second, where the cheaper m1xl goes to 4 seconds. Why charge more for a multi fx and offer less with certain aspects? Granted, the times when I need anything over 1 second are rare, but they do happen. Regardless, its the principle of the matter.

Also, this box offers many editing parameters but different reverbs have different parameters available, this also bothers me. I think there should be a standard set of parameters available for any 'verb.

And as I said earlier, its too easy to copy over the first presets in the user bank. Yes its my fault, but the way its setup makes it easy to make the mistake. Never had that issue w/ any other fx unit.

Overall, its still a great piece of gear. I think if it got stolen I'd get another one but be temped to pick up a m1xl instead, its cheaper and sounds damn near as good, and doesn't skimp on the delay times. Its also comparable to the lexicon MPX1, another great sounding unit. I'd take the TC over the lexi simply for the ability to run 2 differnt fx on 2 different channels. Its funny, I got my best sounding vocal verb on the m2000 trying to emulate the verb I was using on the m1xl. For some reason what I came up with for vox verb on the m2000 sounds amazing for toms. I've never had a vocal verb that I liked on any drums. Go figure.

Fairly straight forward and what isn't obvious the manual clears up quickly. Keep it as clost to eye level as you can though because the little screen gets harder to read when it's at the bottom of the rack.

Sound Quality : 8
Very nice sound quality considering it's age. It has the classic mellow TC electronics sound that isn't washed out or to wet...unless of course you try.
The newer units have more prestine sonic qualities.
Not sure how to explain this one but while it produces some clean, bright, warm sounds... it still comes off as sounding kind of dark and thin by itself (a contradiction but like I said I'm not sure what is up with that yet... maybe it's just my settings). After running through tube pre/power it fattens up enough. The newer units just spoiled me I guess so I keep it in my live rig. No sense in dropping 10k on the 6000 for a live rig anyhow
Nobody really knows the difference when you play live as long as you get the effect in the same ballpark. You end up bottlenecked by the PA speakers and cab mics so everything just sounds smushy to me even with the best sound guys runnin the board.
Right now I have it lined up in stereo with the DBX166a for Compression, sidechained eq, M2000, occasional random stomp box or wah, Mesa Triaxis Preamp and Mesa 2:90 Power amp. Mostly using Ibanez guitars, prestige rg,rgt,s. Very simple setup and in the end it's a perfect effects unit for my applications... usually rock but its great for anything else I'm feeling at the moment be it jazz, blues, or when they get me drunk enough a neo-classical shred solo or 2.
It provides nice effects which aren't to wet or dry and the reverbs sometimes make you want to wet yer panties. Get a nice midi pedal for it too, the rocktron or behringer pedals work fine and are cheap.

Reliability : 8
Get a memory card because it's cheap and you'll want it.... every now and then you run into some jackass who will reset all your effects settings 5min before your set.

Customer Support : 5
They respon to emails but I dont know how they do on repairs or upgrades as I've never had any problems I couldn't fix myself or find the answer online.

Overall Rating : 9

Great for almost any style of music and any instrument, drums, or vocals as long as you use it tactfully.

Playing for about about 10 years or more. I've owned alot of other junk over the years. Currently use mostly Mesa amps and Ibanez guitars, the typical shred junk, but I'm looking around for that holy grail of an amp with that perfect sound just for me... just like every other guitar playing tonewhore hehe!

If it was lost or stolen I would first have the thief tracked down by a lynchmob and beaten with a cactus then I would go buy another... or maybe use it as an excuse to buy another m5000 or 6000 ;)

Love the sound, Hate the fact that I can't use the digital outs as much as I would like to... but thats what happens when you have a mix of digital and analog gear.

Anything I wish it had? Well I wish it came with an attractive blond woman wearing a thong who could wash my car and make me a sandwich... no...really.

It definitly helps me make music but it's no replacement for a good muse... or a few shots of scotch.

Anything else I would like to share... hmmm tough question but I've already said more then I probobly needed to.
In short TC electronics scored big when they made this unit but now it's old. Use it live, use it if your cheap, use it if you love reverbs that will knock your gym socks off... and then save up and buy the 6000. ;)
Would rate it a 10 but like I said it's getting outdated.

Incredibly easy to use. I didn't even have to read the manual. To levels of editing effect, one with the most important parameters, and the second that goes in depth for the real tweak freak.

Sound Quality : 10
20 bits signal path leaves the orignal signal unaffected. No noise only beautiful transparent effects. Haven't met a bad preset or effect yet.

Reliability : No Opinion
Not sure I've only had it for a couple months.

Customer Support : 10
Even before I bought it, they got back to me every time and answered eve the most technical of questions.

Overall Rating : 10
It is a very expensive piece, but you won't be sorry. I've tried, the Alesis Q2, Rocktron Intelliflex LTD, Lexicon MPX-1, and many others and this is the only unit that doesn't mangle my original signal either wet or dry.

Phenomenally easy to use. They provide a manual, I never needed to look at it except for proper hook-up. Everything is right there, and there is even a help menu onboard. Patch "Wizard" helps you find what you are looking for when first starting out. Very logical layout, very little paging thru menus, you can keep it simple or go "expert!"

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely silent. Killer effects, there isn't a weak one in the bunch. All the presets are useful, I have not had to tweak too much. In my guitar rack (Mesa Boogie Triaxis) effects loop, I can not tell when it is switched in vs out- the A/D and D/A convertors PERFECTLY preserved my guitar tone right down to the barest pick articulation

Reliability : 10
So far, so good. The manufacturer has issued a recall to modify the power supply for 220-240volts (like I'm gonna tour Europe...) at their expense. No unusual glitches or problems noted. Patch changes instantaneous and glitch-free.

Customer Support : 10
Even President of the companies' US division will get on the phone with you to answer questions. They get right back to you quickly, and really know their stuff. Upgrades are really cool- they will send you a ROM card to plug into your machine and automatically upgrade the operating system (they charge a deposit that is refunded with return of the ROM).

Overall Rating : 10
Totally amazing machine. Went thru several effects processors (Ensoniq, Rocktron, Alesis, Lexicon, Digitech) and this one does it for me- great effects without masking/altering my guitar tone. And to think it was not specifically designed as a guitar effects processor! Worth the price....

The presets are quite useful. I can only compare it to a Lexicon PCM-70 which was comparable editing style. The thing that makes this easy to use is its on board manual, it has help features for about everything you'd ever need. Editing patches is a breeze, I'm not used to a wheel for adjustments though, (guess I'll get used to it).

Sound Quality : 10
Quite as hell. Couldn't ask for anything more to make me realize: 'you can't put a nice processor in line with a bunch of Hosa cables and bad grounding problems' As for weakness of presets, I thought 97% were excellent, especially considering the cost. I would have preferred a few wacked out presets to show what this machine is capable of turning into if need be.

Reliability : No Opinion
I would be in fear of being ripped off. It's too nice a piece of gear, unless that is you have a body guard, to take out of the studio. You can take it to a friends studio to show it off, though. ;-)

Customer Support : 10
I'm danish and I know danes are great and responsible people so I think they'll be good enough, esp. compared to what I've experienced.

Overall Rating : 9
If you want an extremely flexible box with reverbs, comp., de-esser, chorus, delay, phlanger,eq etc, with nice digital IO's (TC rep says 'same ones as in MC-5000') you'd better get one of these instead of that tired LXP-15 or PCM-70.
