Ease of Use : 7
This unit is not so easy to use. Tweaking is simple but you have to learn how to get the right sound. You may destroy mix very easy, but remember that you can also do some magic that you will never EVER do using multiband compressor plugins.

Sound Quality : 10
This is a mastering compressor. 3 band TUBE which means you can warm and pump the sound any way you want, but that means also the sound will never remains the same. The sound of single bands isn't obvious but the overal result after you already have learnt how to tweak is very easy to hear. Power, warmth, punch, deep bass, clear and detailed midrange... and finally highs can remains untouched which is very important for keeping sound clarity. In some cases can be also treated as very broad eq which is sometimes useful for bass.

Reliability : 10
Never had any problems.

It's a great great great tool, the best I have in my rack, I would never sell it. Use it in 99% cases (the only one exception is classical music). But there are 2 things to remember. It's very hard to learn, very easy to destroy the mix and it's highly dependable on the converters you already have. It will NOT SOUND with cheap converters. I use it with Lavry Blue and it works perfectly, while with my previous converters in TC.Finalizer it didn't bring even a part of that good sound. So if you don't have good converters, good advice: think about them first before buying SMC 2B. Price of unit is high but no matter how much it would costs it's worth the price.
