Lots of knobs for a reverb. They are intuitive quickly. Manual is good.

Sound Quality : 10
I always use time based effects last in effects chain. My board is a peterson strobe stomp,BBE sonic, Keeley 4 Knob comp, Fulldrive2,Fat boost2, HBE w bass boost mod, modtone delay, Tech 21 Boost rev. into a 18 watt clone with JBL E120 F speaker. All George L's as cables. I use a variety of PRS. Strats. Les Pauls, Telecasters, Gibson V's and a bevy of other guitars. This pedal really suprised me. It is analog and has a tad of noise, but nothing I would complain about. I'm Impressed.

Reliability : No Opinion
This pedal is well built as far as I can tell. Will gig without backup.

Never dealt with Tech 21. I don't Know

Overall Rating : 10
This unit sounds great. I play agressive country, and at my Church. It really does better than I expected. I've tried boss and EH models and was frustrated with them. I've played pro. and semi pro for 40 years. I might buy another just in case. GOOD JOB Tech 21!!

initially the pedal is a little intimidating as it has so many options regarding tones. endless possibilities as there are no rigid settings most reverb pedals have...like hall, plate, spring,etc...there are pre-sets but you can personalize them all the way...
the manual helps with the standard settings but you can get really experimental. which is always great. and then there is the boost which i havent tried out yet.

Sound Quality : 10
i have a 30watt solid state marshall amp which i use for practice at home. i run it through my epiphone les paul. the chain is-

Jim Dunlop Wah> Boss BD-3> Boss DD-3> Tech 21 RVB boost...

so far i have had very little problems regarding sound. the reverb sounds amazing at the end of the chain. i compared the pedal with an electro harmonix holy grail plus and the boss rv-5. its insane how the tech 21 is way way ahead in many ways IMO.
havent used the pedal on stage yet as i just got it...looking forward to that.

looks good to go.

never needed it though im sure its good cos everyone else says so here... :)

Overall Rating : 10
songwriting takes centrestage for my band and the reverb pedal adds the fullness the guitars needed to seal the deal!
if stolen i would steal it back from anyone i saw that has the same pedal.
IMO this pedal is way way ahead of the boss reverb units and even the electro harmonix holy grail plus. and for the price this is killer!
wouldnt try another reverb for quite some time now!!

excellent stuff...kudos to the wonderful tech 21 people!!!

highly recommendable.

Fairly easy to use, but it's good to have the manual. There's a lot of knobs in play here, and though they all do pretty much what you'd expect, it's good to have the manual's presets to start with if you want to dial in a spring reverb, or a hall, etc.

Sound Quality : 9
Pretty doggone good. My lone issue is that mine has a slight hiss, but this seems to be a problem with reverbs in general. Also, I got mine used, my own fault there. When I played one in the store, if it had the hiss, I didn't notice it. In any case, it's only an issue if you're not playing. Once you start playing you quickly drown it out.

I'm a pedal-pusher so I've tried this with a lot of other effects - drive, distortion, chorus, flange, phase, delay, any combinations thereof. I have an Epi Les Paul Custom playing through all the aforementioned pedals. I usually put this one last or second to last before the amp (an Ampeg M-15 '61 tube), along with an MXR Carbon Copy delay (also highly recommended, btw, and since the Tech 21 RVB has the "boost" function you don't need to also get the Tech 21 DLA, which also has the boost). This pedal works with pretty much every other effect I've got, though sometimes I have to do some knob-tweaking to dial in the sound I want.

Another neat function is the "rumble" function, which boosts reverb on the low end of the signal. On rhythm guitar, if I'm playing, say, power chords on the lower two or three strings and I crank this, it fills up the low end so quickly that I don't even need a bass for some songs. However, it can swallow your sound whole if you overdo it. Think of banging a very large gong in a very big concert hall and you'll see what I mean.

Also, it's nice to have independent feedback, time, and tone controls. If you crank the feedback but leave the time down, you get a very different sound than if you crank the time but not the feedback. Lots of options. Almost too many. Sometimes I wish I'd just gotten the one-knob Holy Grail from EHX, but by all accounts it doesn't sound as good and has quality control issues. Tech 21? Always high quality. Made in the USA, baby.

Reliability : 9
I've only had it for a month. Looks great, plays great, very sturdy, survived being shipped to me from Ohio by its previous owner. A little put off by the hiss, but the unit plays great and I would absolutely gig with no backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't used it. Got it used anyhow. I hear good things.

Overall Rating : 9
When you look at how a lot of okay-but-not-great digital-sounding reverb pedals (Boss, EHX, etc.) are going for $120 or even more, the $150 you throw down to get this is a terrific value. If you don't like to play with a lot of knobs, this might not be the pedal for you, but like I said, pretty easy to use, gets excellent, excellent reverb sounds, pretty much anything you can think of it can do. You can use the low end to make your sound deep and resonant, the boost for soloing, the feedback to get some interesting harmonics, plus it lets you control mix level, time, and even a tone knob. I have 8 excellent FX pedals, and this is the only one that hisses. It doesn't do it loud, but it does do it. That's the only reason why it doesn't get a 10. Excellent pedal, highly recommended.

This pedal is fairly easy to use. It has six knobs. The Tone and Rumble knobs control the treble and bass respectively. The Mix, Feedback and Level are exactly what their names suggest. The Boost knob allows you to boost or defeat the clean signal. At 12 o'clock it is at zero effect.

Sound Quality : 10
My current live setup includes a Fender Custom Telecaster and a Gibson ES Artist run though a custom built 5F6-A Bassman clone. My pedalboard includes Crybaby Classic wah, EHX Q-Tron, BBE Opto-Stomp, Visual Sounds Jekyl& Hyde and Tech 21 Boost RVB in that order.

I purchased the Bassman about six months ago and it is the first amp I've owned with no built-in reverb. I initially purchased an EHX Holy Grail and hated it (obsurdly long tail and significant tone suck). About two months ago I purchased the Boost RVB and couldn't be happier. The controls allow me to really tweak it to find the perfect amount of reverb with just the right depth and dwell. The rumble and tone features allow me to EQ a really fat tone. The clean boost allows me to boost my signal just slightly to add to the natural breakup on my amp. It is also extremely transparent (no noticable tone sucking).

I play country folk and jazz fusion with a very clean yet pushed tone and this pedal has way exceeded my expectations. This is much more than a reverb pedal.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for two months and eight performances, so it's too early to tell.

I play in two fairly active regional acts (jazz fusion and country folk). I've been performing regularly for about 14 years.

For the type of tone I use (clean-pushed) this pedal is a God-send. I will definitely get another if it is lost or stolen.

Manual gives basic settings for different types of reverb, but very simple... tone I believe controls the amount of treble, fully cranked has no effect, roll back for a high cut. Vice versa with the rumble control on the bass end. Mix controls the amount of reverb in the mix, feedback gives you a real springy feedback if so desired, I usually set this fairly low. Level controls the volume, can be used as a boost if so desired. Time controls the reverb timing. Lots of controls, but very straight forward. Figured it out and got the sound I wanted after 10 minutes or so.

Sound Quality : 10
Using mainly LP's and a Strat. Purchased this cause I was buying a Fender Supersonic head which did not have reverb. I tried it with my Crate V30 and loved the reverb better than the spring tank in my head. Not noisy at all unless you turn up the feedback (which it's supposed to be). I can't get over how much this thing sounds like a real reverb tank, and is way more versatile. Unbelievable how Tech 21 got these sounds in a stomp box. Not much tone coleration either, with the option to keep your eq the same, and adjust the mix to the point of saturation (which will mush out the sound, just as a true reverb unit does). Use it in the effects loop of my amp, out of the effects loop, into a Korg D-10 digital tuner, into an analog man bichorus, into a Boss DD-5 delay, then to the Boost R.V.B., back out to the amp. I would recommend placing this last in the chain for optimal sound quality, I messed with other configurations, but that way sounded the best.

Reliability : 10
Seems to be built like a tank. Only had it for like a week or so though, but looks built to last.

Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Hands down, wouldn't even try another reverb pedal. Great features, great design, great sound, period. I was looking awhile for a reverb pedal due to the fact that the Supersonic head had none, wanted an analog design, this one won me over.

Great Manual, very intuitive layout. Easy to get great sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
It sounds much better than the spring verb in my Duncan Convertible head (bad-sounding small pad), better than my Ampeg VT120's large pan (I think the circuit is so-so, it's not terrible, but not terribly great), but not a beautiful as my 1970 Fender Deluxe Reverb.

I use the Duncan Convertible for gigs, and it's verb is the worst, so I needed a pedal. I tried a Reissue Fender tube reverb and was underwhelmed, even after swapping the tubes with NOS GE's. I also tried the Boss RV-2,3 & 5, they all sounded too digital and lifeless IMHO. I also tried the EH Holy Grail which was not bad, not great; good for the price.

I have been using an EH Holier Grail which sounds great. I really liked the Hall setting, but Spring and Room were a bit weak. If you want heavy ambient verb, you lose a lot of volume, and unless you have an active FX loop with a gain control(s), you will be completely buried in a band mix. It is also very large and requires a proprietary power supply.

The Boost RVB is amazing, it sounds very warm and natural. the Tone control is a godsend. You can completely wash your sound in reverb with no volume loss. This box does Dick Dale better than the Fender tube RI!!

The Feedback control is great for getting boingy spring sounds.

The Rumble is subtle, but very useful.

This is definitely the best of the reverb pedals I've tried by far.

The Boost function is great. I use it to slightly boost my sound. I put this pedal last in my chain, in the FX loop.

Reliability : 10
Very well built in the USA.

BTW, It's nice to see that Tech 21 has not switched manufacturing to China. Lots of companies are going that way, and NOT passing the savings to the consumer. I heard that ProCo is going to China for manufacturing...will they be lowering their prices??? Also, while I'm in the middle of this rant, I'd like to mention that I recently bought a Pigtronics Envelope Phase and a Gig-FX Mega Hah. Both pedals were well over $200, and guess what...Made in China. I seriously felt ripped off, as I thought I was buying "boutique" pedals. I was paying top-dollar for sweatshop-made electronics. I returned the Pigtronics (was cool, but not for me). I kept the Mega Wah because I like having volume and wah in one pedal, and the wah is great sounding, even with a fuzz pedal...but I digress.

I've called them on the phone and they were great!

I bought this, because I love the Boost DLA which I have also reviewed. It has really exceeded my expectations. It does great Spring, Room, and Hall verbs. The buffered bypass sounds great, it does not mess with my tone.

I use American made guitars and amps, all tube. I am a semi-pro with weekly gigs. This is a great pedal for the pro. If you are a bedroom player or home recorder, it will probably suit your needs well. If you're a tube purist that must have vintage Fender tube reverb tones, it might not be for you.

It's an excellent value at $150.

I will also admit that I am fan of Tech 21 products. They seem to think in a modular fashion for some future products they don???t even know are coming. But when you add their Boost R.V.B. to the effects loop section of an amp ??? WHOA!!!!! You now have something in the area of 6 different sounds coming from this setup! The manual is very clear and easy to read. I think they have some veteran ad agency VP type up there in their marketing department! All of their manuals have a very simple layout. The best thing about their manuals is that they are small! Which mean the pedals are not difficult to operate.

Sound Quality : 10
I use their Trademark 60 amplifier with their Power Engine 60 powered speaker. Great clean sound. The cool thing about this amp, is that you can turn the effects loop on and off with their handy footswitch with three selections. You can also use the Boost section with the built in amp reverb to give your solos a different contour that will make them stand out more as well.

-- Clean
-- Clean with Boost and amp reverb
-- Clean with Boost, amp reverb, and Boost Reverb set to a funny fluttery kind of way
-- Drive Channel
-- Drive Channel with Boost and amp reverb
-- Drive Channel with Boost and amp reverb, Boost Reverb set to a funny fluttery kind of way, and even a longer dreamy reverby stadium type of thang. Two different reverbs for smokin??? soloing.

Everything sounds great - everything! I use several guitars, so it's always different - which is why it's fun to actually turn the knobs.

Reliability : 10
Too sturdy to ever worry about. The only thing bad that can happen to this pedal will be YOU!!!!!

Customer Support : 10
Great!! Again, they must have some very experienced customer service industry types in their offices.

Overall Rating : 10
I play a lot of styles, a lot of guitars, and a lot of Tech 21 pedal - admittingly. I chose to write about this peddal because it just gave me a different way of thinking about a dedicated reverb pedals. I teach music tech at a college, so it's fun to show the different between processed reverb settings on a computer, and a reverb pedal with an analog sound that let's you turn knobs!!

Ahhhhhh! I like it alot. Would be very mad if I didn't have it.

I wish had more time - like Tuesday - Analog Pedal Day.
