Very straightforward to use - although even the most subtle EQ shifts can have a profound effect on the tone. I really enjoy the manual vibe. No patches or memories, just here and now.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this direct to PC alongside a GT-2 which is starting to play up. Having played next to a few cranked up AC30s, I'd say this delivers. The Character control travels from glassy Class A until that second harmonic growl (or grunt) kicks in to make the whole thing heavier. In fact the more extreme Character settings sound dull until you get busy with the EQ. I really rate the Mid EQ control, which adds tons of body to single coils, and can usefully scoop out when required.

Sansamp kit has always been rock solid in my experience.

Never dealth with them

Overall Rating : 10
I got the Liverpool because I hoped it would be different to the slew of emulated Twins and Marshalls. The Liverpool is very different to most amp modellers and even most Sansamps. The clean jangle lacks the size of a Twin, whilst the overdrive sounds more choked than a Marshall. This in part explains why AC30s themselves are an acquired taste. However, the Liverpool is loads of fun and does provide an alternative set of valvey tones for those who like maximum RnB slash or warm Americana. The Liverpool has a signature sound which won't work for everyone - but I'm glad to have this idiosyncratic take on the underdog of British valve amps in my kitbag.

It is easy to get great tones from this preamp. The Liverpool comes with a diagram for clean, singing, and overdriven sounds. The EQ settings are real active--nifty! The "character" and "drive" knobs go from early-Beatley to Stonesy dirty to soaring sustainy. Very simple, if you use the diagram for the first few times.

Sound Quality : 10
Tele, strat, sg's sound great for me. The Liverpool speaks single coil best for my money. Noisy on full Drive. Quiet on clean Beatle's VI type tones "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party", "Words of Love" if you get my drift.
Through a Deluxe Reverb, it's an AC30. If that's what you want (I do), you got it!

Reliability : 9
It's light as a feather--don't know about toughness. It did a recording session with me and worked great direct.

For my cover/originals live and some recording it handles the vintage sounds necessary to sparkle the 60's guitar riffs. These are the sounds I love and between the Fender Deluxe and this pedal, I can cover alot of sonic territory. The Liverpool really turns one amp into another-via a great speaker emulation circuit. This is NOT your everyday distortion pedal. I've got lot's of those. The Pro-co Rat, Visual Sound stuff are super, also. This one is more special because of the ability to capture the very essence (character?) of not just an amp, but an era.

Very easy to use. Simple knob tweaking is all.

Sound Quality : 2
Fender Strat and Epiphone Les Paul to Fender Twin Reverb.
Very noisy pedal even on lower gain settings.
Harsh bitey highs! Not representative of a Vox. Brittle and sterile. Fake! Truly irritating tone. No matter how much I tweeked the controls I never could find a decent setting. I was mainly looking for usable cleaner modeled settings and it just was not there. Turning the Character knob up to full does not yield a Brian May sound either. And even if you thought it did the noise is horrible even on my Les Paul.
I have been playing with quality gear for 25 to 30 years. While I am no sound guru I do believe I know what does not sound good and this pedal takes the prize for that. While I realize what I hear is subjective my best advice is do not buy this pedal without hearing it in person.
There is no Vox in a box! Unless it is a real big box in excess of $1000.00 or more!

From their "Character Series" - the Liverpool is a Vox AC-30 in a box. Very easy to get good sounds out of and a very flexible pedal. Between the three band eq and the gain and character knobs there is plenty of variety in this pedal. Comes with some suggested settings but not too hard to experiment and try different combinations.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality is excellent! Playing a '73 Fender Twin with an '84 Ibanez Roadstar (with humbuckers neck & bridge), and the Liverpool sounds great! Can get a little noisy with gain maxed but overall pretty quiet. I know tone is a very subjective science, but have used a variety of pedals and the Liverpool has just replaced my beloved Menatone TBIAC. Has all the midrange punch of the TBIAC but with much less of a "grainy" flavor - maintains the aggressive AC-30 growl, but a bit smoother than the TBIAC to my ears. Eq setting are very interactive and small changes can make a huge difference in the tone, but this only adds to the options available in the pedal. Very pleasing and very rich sounding box.

Reliability : 9
Seems very solid and dependable - wouldn't have any worries about not having a backup.

Never used them????

This is a solid sounding pedal and works well with others on my pedalboard. Would replace it if anything happened and really like the variety of sounds available in the Liverpool.
