Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use, just a footswitch, level knob and a mini toggle for "Clean" or "Fat" settings.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup runs in order from Guitar: Boss TU-2, Maxon OD-9, Meat Jr, Roger Mayer Voodoo-Vibe, Boss DD-20 with sometimes a modded Dunlop wah with true bypass right at the front of the chain. I use Fender '65 Reissue Twin and Super Reverbs.
The Meat Jr. is ultra quiet even with the level knob right up, although it makes a loudish pop when switching it on (it doesn't do this switching it off).
The Meat Jr didn't affect the natural tone between my guitars/amps, just made it louder and with the fat switch on, made the amps at moderate volume sound really rich and full, as if they're cranked up, which is perfect for clean solos.
With the amp volume actually pushed a bit, the Meat Jr can work really well to give you a great clean but slightly clipped signal, very powerful and fluid.
When used with the Maxon OD-9, my sound is still really pure and very quiet until I actually play. It didn't affect the tone or sound quality of the Maxon either, which means that I can have four possible gain/volume settings: Natural (Amp/Guitar), Clean Solo (Meat Jr), Overdrive (Maxon) or Solo Overdrive (both pedals). My setup is quiet no matter what now. The Meat Jr. is one of the best things I've ever bought gear wise.

Feels solid.

Going to contact Toadworks about the loud pop when it's switched on, I've heard good things about their service though...

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal would suit anyone playing in any style, looking for the most pure and pristine volume boost, if you're already happy with your basic tone. Be it dark jazz tones, fat blues or scooped metal, this pedal is a really uncomplicated addition, you'll get what you need in seconds. It's so quiet when it's on you'd think it wasn't there until you actually play a note or a chord, top marks for this.
I was a little worried when I bought it that it would make my tone a bit 'boxy' and restricted as a result but this little pedal won't do that, it keeps a fluid tone flowing, I can't get over how pure it is. Beautiful.

One knob, one switch. Nice.

I was a little worried that the fat setting is just on or off, not adjustable like the previous version. But it seems just right for my needs. And it's small, about MXR size, which is nice.

Sound Quality : 9
I use it as a solo boost with the fat switch on. It's at the end of the chain in front of a brown Fender Deluxe clone, a very dynamic amp with a rich clean tone. So besides just being louder it gives the amp a nice little kick of gain. (In front of dirt pedals it upped their gain quite a bit, which I didn't like as much.) The added mids give my Tele just the right amount of presence and heft. Basically, it says "hey everyone, this is a guitar solo!"

It works fine for overdriven tones, but I like it best with an otherwise clean setup. Sometimes I like it so much I "forget" to turn it off, and just roll back the guitar a bit for the rest of the song. It might be fun to have two, and just leave one on most of the time.

Feels pretty solid, and looks good inside. Haven't had it long enough to tell.

Haven't had to bother, so no opinion. They appear to be real humans, however.

I compared it in a store with the Keeley Katana and Fulltone Fat Boost. The others were more tweakable and cost twice as much. The Toad just sounded right with no fiddling about. Done.

I play 60's ska and eclectic 70s/80s rock in a garage band. I like classic, quality stuff, but I don't like paying a fortune for it. As I said above, I might get another even if I don't lose it.

More than any other effects, this little guy makes me happy to see the little orange light come on.

Fat/clean toggle, level knob, on/off stomp. Life is good and simple.

Here's something different: I use this pedal for harp! I plug one of my mics into the input side (Green Bullet reissue, vintage Shure 545, vintage Astatic mic of the sort that used to come with inexpensive tape recorders, vintage EV with a crystal element or this funny-looking no-name that looks like a shower head), I plug the other end into one of my vintage amps (Danelectro Special 30, Premier 50, Silvertone 1484). I find it hard to describe what it does to my sound, but it's all good. I can see why they use the words "meaty" and "fat" but it's hard to explain exactly why those adjectives are so accurate. Let's just say that it adds an amazing richness to my sound. Sometimes I leave the pedal off to keep my sound a bit flatter, keep me part of the accompaniment, but then I stomp on it when it's time to solo and I just jump to the foreground. Other times I just leave it on all the time and stay in the back by my way of playing. It works equally well with all of my equipment. I sometimes mic my amp to the PA. It works well there too. I keep it set different ways. I play with it during mic check and set it according to the sound in the room strictly by trial and error, always on the "fat" setting and the level between half-way up and three quarters, although on occasion I max it out.

So far so good, about one year on the same battery. I have the recommended Boss transformer in my kit just in case.

The best customer support is never needing help. So far so good.

I play blues. I've been playing, on and off, for almost 50 years, but I have gotten a lot more serious as retirement approaches. Electrically, I play a Harmony "Batwing" electric mandolin, like the one Yank Rachel played, and a Gretsch lap steel. I haven't tried this pedal with those instruments yet. I am best at harp and spend most of my time there. I've never gigged with my mando and the lap steel I have only played a few times at jams. I will eventually try my pedal on those instruments, but I haven't yet.
I really like what this thing does for my tone. Someone else's style my differ from mine in ways that may make this pedal less useful or desirable, but I have allowed other harp players use my setup at jams and I think their sound was enhanced in each case.
