This pedal is fabulous. It literally adds meat to your sound. Thickens things up very nicely. I use it with a Hot Rod Deluxe. This is the only effect I use. Used through the clean channel with a strat in the neck or neck and middle position you can cop SRV and Hendrix tones easily with a few tweaks of the knobs. Used through the drive channel with the gain set low you can get nice classic rock sounds, think Zep or AC/DC. Cleans up very well with the volume on your guitar. Best pedal I have used.

I was looking specifically for a boost pedal and I compared it with the Fulltone Fat Boost. I think this pedal is much better than the Fulltone. More versatile. If lost or stolen I would replace it in a heartbeat. In my opinion this is a excellent pedal for the money.

This pedal is very easy to use, 3 knobs, one of which is volume. You have low boost and High boost basically. Just fiddle around with the two knobs to taste.

Sound quality is awesome. This pedal was exactly what I was looking for (a clean boost that thickens the sound). The high boost gives more definition to your sound and the low boost just kinda fattens it up. The pedal almost works a little like an enhancer. Cleans up and tightens the sound quite bit.

Pedal seems very reliable, although mine unexpectedly quit working after a month and a half. Very solid built though.

Like I said mine quit working after a month and a half, but I emailed Toadworks and they were very helpful. I sent it in, they fixed it for free, and sent it back. They always replied very quickly to my emails, and informed me on the progress of the the repair the entire time. Can't ask for better support!

I had never really heard of Toadworks before, but just scanning through ebay looking at boost pedals I came across MEAT. I read some reviews and people seemed to like the pedal, and it sounded like it did what I was looking for (and it does!). I figured I'd give it a try since the place I purchased it from offered a good return policy...but there's no way I'll be returning it. I love this pedal for thick "meaty" boost, with nice accents on the mids and highs. Also this pedal has TRUE Bypass, so that's always a plus! Now I'm curious about some of the other Toadworks pedals, so I might give them a try, esp. the REDUX delay pedal, this sounds very interesting as a delay. Toadworks seems like a top notch company with some interesting pedals!

This pedal is pretty straight forward in its use. Bass boost, treble boost and over all level controls. But wait a minute here... The bass boost and treble boost controls are tied together and effect each others settings relative of the overall unity gain setting (confused yet, it gets better). This is not bad, but rather a small balancing act between the two settings, but no big deal. Cut one and boost another; boost one and cut the other, something like that. Better yet, you can click off either the bass boost or the treble boost but one has to be on or the pedal does nada nunka nothing.

This pedal adds "meat" to you sound; really it does. It can also add some gain above unity if needed. My effect chain looks like this for a great beefy blues AC/DC overdrive brown grind tone: Hot Rail equipped Strat-->Barber Direct Drive (great great great, must own this pedal, blows away the garbage TS808, TS9, BD-2) tone 1:00 and drive 2:00-->Boss Eq (flat with a mild mid boost to your taste)-->Toadworks Meat (Bass 11:00, treble 2:00)-->Barber Launch Pad (Volume 1:00, Sens. 2:00)-->Clean Peavey Classic 30 Head into a low wattage 2x12 cab like 60 watts at 16 Ohm. These settings are like looking at a clock if I'm not clear to what I am doing by the numbers.

Here we go..... If you never owned one how could you miss it? But if you do own one and it was gone, you would miss this pedal no question. The long and short of it is this pedal will add some "girth" to your tube tone. Mine is always on with the Barber Launch Pad (another must have pedal). If you are into creamy OD than this pedal will be a great addition to your collection. I was well worth buying.

Nice layout and sturdy construction. Very simple to navigate. Really can't make a mistake as there are really no bad sounds coming from this pedal. Pretty much goes like this: Fat Knob for dirty boost and Clean Knob for clean boost. Easy enough right?

WOW! Gave me exactly what I was looking for...A semi transparent(and i mean that in a good way) boost for my single coil strat's through my Fender amps. Don't get me wrong, you can adjust it to be completely transparent but, IMHO a little grit in your Fender tone is nice. You can use this for clean leads like i am doing or just leave it on and back down the Fat or Clean setting.I would compare the Fat setting with as a more Big Muff type of sound. However with the Fat through the clean channel it makes the bridge PU on a Strat sound really special. Like that 80's Strat through a Hiwatt or Plexi Marshall tone. This thing really sounds good people and for the money it would be a hard act to beat. I pretty much just use it as a clean boost to fatten up my leads. It gives a nice woody tone here for that and i'm liking it alot!I have to give it a 10 here or i would be lying. I'm 40 and playing since high school. My gear now consist of a Fender CS Relic 60's Strat. 72 RI Strat w/handwound PU's, a mean playing Jimmie Vaughan Strat and a Les Paul Classic. All through a 65 Fender Pro Reverb and a cool little Super Champ (Remember those?) For effects I also own a RI BK Butler Tube Driver, Keeley Phat BD 2, Keeley Java Boost, Durham Mucho Gusto, MI Audio Cruch Box, Guyatone Flip Funky Box, Retro Sonic Vintage Vibes Comp, and BBE Freq Booster. Again as you can see i have alot of pedals in the OD/Boost catagory so i will continue to use this pedal as a clean boost only but you can find many other applications for it. It is a simple pedal in terms of use but complex in it uses and the sounds it generates. It's a keeper for me.I don't kmow if it is considered a boutigue pedal??? as it doesn't cost over $200 bucks but i don't care because it sounds as good as my other more expensive pedals. I'll end with... Buy it guys and gals you won't regret it.

I use it for Motown, Funk, and some early Rock in a cover band. I have tried alot of things to get where i am now with my gear. not to mention the cost of experimenting with high end gear. I would replace this one as it is a sure thing tone wise. Sorry but i have to give this thing 10's straight through...And no I don't work for the company.

Three knobs
Fat (clicks completely off)
Clean (clicks completely off)
Master
Note: The pedal is sensitive to fluctuations with your adapter! The meat pedal needs a high quality nine volt adapter, or it will give you a lot of buzz or noise. I have a radio shack adapter and a boss 9v adapter. When using the radio shack adapter the meat pedal buzzes badly. It is perfectly quiet with my boss adapter, though.

Gear: les paul special double cut (1992), a 1979 ES 335, and a fender strat. Amps are 1982 mesa boogie Mark 2B and mesa f-50. Other pedal in the chain: Fulltone fulldrive II, electro harmonix reverb, and boss delay.
Although I bought this pedal as a boost, I'm actually using it as a mild overdrive pedal. The combination of my amp and this pedal gives me an awesome subtle/warm overdrive. I can't emphasize how pleased I am with this pedal even though it was not what I expected it to be. I have been looking for a nice warm mild overdrive for years. Everything seemed to have way more gain/overdrive than I wanted. This pedal is the exact overdrive tone I was looking for, it just happened to be located inside a boost pedal.
If your looking for a simple volume/ gain kind of boost I would say look at the MXR micro amp everyone has. If you need to give an old guitar some girth or your single coils sound a little thin, then this pedal should work great (the website for toadworks does say expect the unexpected with this pedal, though).
This might be the best sounding pedal I have ever owned. I've been through about 15 pedals, mostly overdrives/distortions/delays/reverbs (nothing crazy).

It's a booster pedal. It ain't tough. Completely intuitive. The two range-specific controls, Fat and Clean, can be completely bypassed for a true flat boost, they even click on and off. The master Level control appears to be at unity gain at 12:00. Nice stiff turn on the controls means that the setting you liked last week is still there at your next gig, which is always good. TBP switch.

I hate gushing reviews. I don't believe them. I try hard to find something critical to say about everything I review for this site. I make myself wait at least five gigs before reviewing a new piece. It's too bad that cynical people like myself won't believe what I am about to write.
THIS PEDAL IS THE SINGLE BEXT THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MY GUITAR RIG! It took me about five minutes to find the tone I wanted from this pedal the first time I used it. I used to hate my lead tones much of the time, and now I freaking love them every single time.

Only time will tell, I guess, but it has a solid feel to it. I use it without a backup per se, although technically in a pinch I could get through the night using my comp as a booster, which is what I was doing before I had the MEAT.

I'll keep the gushing to a minimum. On short acquaintance I'm deliriously happy with the thing. With the exception of my Barber Direct Drive, this is the only pedal I don't suffer a shred of buyer's remorse over.

The sound quality is great. No noise issues. I use this with an ENGL fireball tube amp. Clean boost works super. The Fat control does just what it means! It's like two pedals in one. The beauty in this is that you can mix the clean boost/fat to your desires! You can't go wrong for the price!

I've bought several booster pedals and they all had their issues. One had a stupid construction where the 9volt battery would sometimes touch other components and short out. Needless to say it died the same day I bought it and it was 2x's the cost. Others were too noisy. I decided to give Toadworks a try and love them.

Cool pedal, it is basically a boost pedal when you use the CLEAN side, but when you use the FAT knob, it will thicken your tone, especially when you have it all the way up. Gives it an older amp type tone. Using the FAT will change the tone slightly, but not in a bad way, it just thickens and adds a bit more bass. You won't use it all the time, but can be very usefull, especially when combined with other pedals. I use it with my Menatone Red Snapper(new version), and my Xotic RC Booster, and it sounds awesome. Work very well with Humbucker pickups. I have a Gretsch New Jet with TV Jones Filtrons, and it sounds sweet, especially in using the bridge pickup and playing the lower notes.

Great pedal, and it is less expensive than most! Have tried out, bought and sold several pedals over the last year, this one is a keeper.I play blues/rock and this pedal works perfectly for that style of music. I think it could work for most rock too. I would replace if it quit working or was stolen. I wanted to try this pedal out after listening to the sound bytes on the Toadworks website, and the $106 and FREE shipping from guitareffectspedals.com helped my choice too!

Totally simple to use - there are three pots: Fat, Clean, and Level. As you would imagine, you can get a great clean-boost using the clean control, a fat-assed growling boost using the fat control, and either level-match or set-up for leads using the level control. Stomp on the button to activate, of course. It's got a handy LED to let you know if it's on or not.

I haven't used a bunch of clean-boost pedals before, but comparing the quality of sound in terms of how it affects my original tone and the flexibility of it's intrinsic tone to any other pedal I have, it's simply awesome. I use a lot of different guitars, but when I want to hear tone quality I pull out the '65 Strat or my '65 SG. Simple, well voiced guitars. And then I plug them into my Marshall half stack or my '59 tweed Champ. Sound great by themselves, but adding the Meat lets me boost without coloration, boost with a much throatier, heavier growl, match levels with overdrive without over loud, or pop over the top with a lead level. Noise? Ain't none. I've been recording and playing since the '70s and this is studio-quality sound.

I don't buy cheap stuff (well, ok, I bought a Digitech Whammy that I no longer use) 'cuz I just want the best sounding, best built, most reliable and cool gear I can get. The ToadWorks Meat fits quite nicely into that philosophy. Highly recommended.
