Takes a bit of tweaking to get it right, but the basic set-ups in the manual are a good start. Needs a screwdriver to change the battery, but that doesn't bother me - the battery seems to last forever, and I like the small, sleek box.

Sound Quality : 10
Superb, in as much as he doesn't change my tone at all. I got Mr Squishy after reading the reviews here, but at first it didn't seem to be doing anything and I was wondering where my money had gone! Then after a bit of tweaking, I got just what I wanted. I use a Les Paul (or sometimes an Ibanez JTK-2) and with input at about 11 o'clock, squish at 1 o'clock and level somewhere in the middle, I get exactly what I want: my chords and my single-string runs coming out at the same sort of volume, with no change in tone. I keep Mr Squishy on all the time.

Reliability : 10
Mr Squishy is nice and solid, and seems to run forever on one battery. I have been using him for a couple of months. I would gig without a backup, partly because he seems very well made, and partly because, for heaven's sake - it's not the end of the world if I have to do one gig without a bit of compression!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had to deal with them.

I play the guitar in a three-instrument band (with bass and drums... surprise...). We play country, punk, rockabilly, blues, that sort of thing, mostly gigging in London. I ditched my old digital multi-effects with the intention of using a small number of carefully chosen stompboxes. First practice with the band, and I realised I needed a compressor - my volume was all over the place as I switched between chords and lead (I do use a boost for the odd solo, but our style means a lot of fast switching between chords and lead). I am very pleased I got Mr Squishy.

Basically you mess around with the "squish" and "input" (the 3rd control is just volume) controls until you get a compression level that you like, and you leave it.

That's all.

The manual (a single folded sheet of paper) explains the different controls as thoroughly as possible.

For the work he does and amount of control he gives you, Mr. Squishy could not possibly be easier to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Danelectro DC bass through a Behringer BX4500H head and a Hartke cab with a 450w Emininece Kappa 18C speaker. The DC Bass has a very distinctive tone that Mr. Squishy brings out in the most pleasing way. Both deep and high notes are evened out into a uniform signal that I can then mess around with in meaningful ways with my amp.

Pretty much if you have a nice sounding amp, cab, or instrument, Mr. Squishy will make them sound even better.

Mr. Squishy is DEAD quiet and unbelievably natural sounding. He doesn't sound like an effect, but you can hear a difference when you turn him on or off. He does exactly what I want every compression pedal to do and none of the things I hate about a lot of compression pedals. You don't get that noisy swell or nasty attack (unless you want it), it's all just toneful goodness.

With Mr. Squishy it was love at first listen, and I don't plan on ever playing bass without him again. He gives me the exact tone I've been craving for years: silky smooth, tight in all the right ways, and plenty of sustain to boot.

Squishy can be as "squished" or as loose as you want him to be. At first I was nervous about buying him after reading some of the reviews on here. I was afraid he would be too subtle for me. He is subtle, but only in the sense that you can't really hear him working in the same way you can usually hear most compression effects working (which IMHO is a bad thing).

Reliability : 10
it's made out of solid metal and feels rugged. The pedal itself is a standard pushbutton that could easily be replaced. I can't imagine anything being able to break this pedal except something like the wrong power supply, or it being dropped into the ocean.

Customer Support : 10
Ryan Dunn, the guy who made Mr. Squishy, is the tech support. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get any better than that.
He's an absolute breeze to deal with and so helpful/generous. Like a complete idiot I hooked Squishy up to the wrong transformer right out of the box and blew him up.

--USE A 9V DC REGULATED TRANSFORMER WITH MR. SQUISHY--

So I sent Ryan an email begging him to repair it for me and he responded same day, had me do a bit of simple troubleshooting, and then told me to just send it in. A couple weeks later I got Squishy back, and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Ryan, support like that is hard to find!

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly punk rock, and this pedal is great for it. It lets me keep my pick attack intact, and evens everything else out. That's good news for anyone who likes to play fast.

I guess I've been singing Mr. Squishy praises all review, so I'll try not to be redundant here, but I will say this: Mr. Squishy is the finest effect I've ever purchased and I can't recommend him highly enough.

Well, there is 1 green light, 1 footswitch & 3 knobs. In the box there is also a leaf of a manual, nice n easy for a nice n easy unit anyway.
Now, the gain and the squish knobs do compliment each other to help you find the sweet spot for your sound. But if you roll the gain up and the squish down, erm, the tone does get a bit distorted and definitely bassy with less treble, but, guys, it's not exactly what I would call a clean boost as I can still hear it compress (or mess up with) the overall sound -mind you I've put Mr Squishy where compressors leave me with less worries, ie first in the line, straight after my guitar. And, another issue you'd probably wouldn't notice, but: the level if put at let's say 2 o'clock begins to hum a bit. Right here you need to be told that my rig is to be completely noiseless because I like it that way, and anyway today I feel extaordinary picky, so silence!

Sound Quality : 9
This rig is Fender HM american Strat with 2 Seymour Duncan mini humbuckers (the Cool Rails-neck & the Vintage Rails-middle) and a Suhr humbucker-bridge with DR Jeff Healey-10 strings > Toadworks Mr Squishy > Schaller Bow Wow / Yoy Yoy > FoxRox Zim > Guyatone MD-3 > Fender Twin Reverb silverface.
Mr Squishy is transparent, efficient, very friendly and it does compress. For its average spectrum of use it is also very very quiet (see above). Sound is lush, frequences even, notes are round, signal is strong, there are some excellent ear loving results.
Even though I came to the conclusion I am not in need of a compressor for the band I play at the moment, because I actually like and use the thorns and volume imbalances of my playing big time, I'll keep Mr Squishy with me, just in case I change my mind. Perhaps I could use it for vocals too. I'm never short of ideas while keeping pedals like this.

Reliability : No Opinion
It is quite big and seems pretty solid but I don't care about back ups. If it dies on stage so be it. If I panic because I have run out of my compressor I am useless anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I did open it to change the battery that came free in it (I only use rechargeables to avoid trouble) -the battery life is quite long for a pedal. Inside Mr Squishy I found a pretty neat condition of things. I doubt I will ever need to call Toadworks for an emergency.

Overall Rating : 9
It is correct that this is a pedal that compresses as a compressor should. As for the boost possibility though, it is not granted that you 'll like it. I didn't, but it doesn't really matter, Mr Squishy is part of my family now and I like him anyway.
In fact I kinda dig now why he happens to be so popular around here d;o)

Mr. Squishy is very easy to use, he doesn't mind being tweaked or stomped on...Mr. Squishy fixes all problems, he's very handy... AND Mr. Squishy doesn't mind if you give attention to your other pedals, he makes them sound good and he plays nice!

Sound Quality : 10
Mr. Squishy has a nice voice, he never yells at anyone, just sits there smiling knowing that he doesn't have to squash your tone to give you what you need. You CAN turn up the squish if you want, but I don't find I need to. The 3 knobs are squish, gain, and level. Not hard to figure out that this is the anticompressor, the only really subtle one that improves your tone. I leave him on all the time... You can turn up the gain for a nice clean boost...Also very quiet. Did I mention he's very quiet? Mr. Squishy says, shhhhhh......

Reliability : 10
You can count on Mr. Squishy, nuff said...

Dont' know, never dealt with them. I understand they are very helpful tho, but if you have Mr. Squishy, who else do you need?

Overall Rating : 10
I never like compressors that much before, I own Mr. Squishy and a Keeley. They are both high quality, but I don't think you can really A/B the two, as they are quite different. The Keeley is more for sustain, and adds something to the tone, and is more compressive than Mr. Squishy. Mr. Squishy is "compressor lite" and is very subtle, which is exactly what I was looking for. Something to smooth out the tone just a little, take out the harshness, and give a little swell after you hit the note. Its the kind of compressor that you notice after you turn it off and notice the magic tone dust is now missing... Dont try taking Mr. Squishy away from me if you don't want to get squished...

You need good ears to appreciate this pedal's nuances. It requires some experimenting to find your tone, but its in there.

It has three knobs: gain, squish(compression), and level. The gain and squish knobs are interactive and voiced to cover a wide range of pickup output levels.

Sound Quality : 9
I run a Fender 52 reissue Tele into a Budda Budwah->Toadworks Mr. Squishy->Maxon OD9->Fender silverface champ with a Weber 8a125 speaker.

They need to rename this pedal THE GIRTH. It isn't a DynaComp type compressor, those suck. This pedal takes your natural tone, evens it out, and thickens it up. It doesn't add attack or alter the incoming signal other than boosting it via the gain knob. It works as an amazing clean boost for your signal. I have it set up to add just a bit of boost via the level control into my OD9 which is a tubescreamer. Tubescreamers lose low end when engaged but adding the Mr. Squishy puts it right back in there.

I play drums in an alt country band and my guitarist has an amaizing setup. He runs a 1972 Marshall 50 watt into a Bogner 2x12. When I added the Mr. Squishy to my setup I swear it sounds exactly like his amp when he runs his THD Hotplate at a high attenuation, just thick and gorgeous.

This pedal also has true bypass switching which is essential for anyone looking for good tone when the pedal is off.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't gig on guitar so I won't say, but the components are top notch.

Customer Support : 10
Awesome. I was getting just a touch of radio interference when I engaged the pedal so I emailed the company. I received a reply the same day and was given a couple of options. They were willing to show me how to do the work myself and send me the parts to do it, or send it in directly for a quick fix.

Awesome, and their fix worked first try!

Overall Rating : 10
I don't think tens are always appropriate but the Mr. Squishy is THE BEST compressor available, and with great company support I have no reservations about recommending to anyone.

And its inexpensive!

I bought this new in mid-2005 from Music Toyz but the date of manufacture shows as January 2003. Apparently Music Toyz was sitting on some old stock. Note however that the first Mr. Squishy Music Toyz sent me was missing the nutsack and instructions. Turns out they ship out returns as new, which I dont' like as policy. But enough of that...
The pedal itself has three knobs for gain, squish, and level, and a quality footswitch and ac jack. It seems well put-together. It's not that easy to use, though. You have to experiment with it.

Sound Quality : 8
I run an American Standard Strat through a Blues Jr. or Peavey Delta Blues amp and a variety of (mostly) Fulltone pedals. As other reviewers have mentioned, this pedal is subtle at most settings. I find that I like the sound best Mr. Squishy with gain and squish at about 4 o'clock and the level at 11 o'clock. The resulting sound adds brightness and mild compression to my clean signal, especially through the Blues Jr., which is in need of some external tone-shaping to give me a blues tone that I like (Texas clanging Strat / SRV). With a Fulltone OCD first (its gain and level at both at 9 o'clock and tone at noon), followed by Mr. Squishy with the above settings, I got a ripping Strat blues tone out of the amp.
The gain control is useful for dialing in additional brightness to your signal, but I find the effect on the tone does not change dramatically until the very last bit of rotation on the knob; it gets bassy at the very end of rotation. Still, the range is enough for my needs; it's not an eq after all. The squish knob also has the most dramatic change at the very end of rotation, at which point it really squashes the signal. I find that I tend to max out this control and then back off just enough to return some dynamics. I never take the level knob above noon, but it's got reserve and can be used to bump up your signal.
This pedal is a subtle addition to my growing signal chain. Initially, I wasn't too sure I wanted to keep this pedal, because I couldn't really hear it adding enough to my sound to justify the price. However, I've come to really like this pedal over time. It adds a nice shimmer and body to my sound, especially through the Blues Jr. (to the point where I now actually LIKE that amp as well).

Reliability : No Opinion
Solid. Nicely made. Beefy footswitch. Hefty aluminum knobs. Cool graphics. I likes. I've not opened this unit up yet to see the innards, but it seems like a quality unit. I've not had problems with it yet. Still, I've not had it long enough to comment.

Customer Support : 10
As I mentioned, the original unit from Music Toyz shipped without the nutsack and instructions. I contacted Toadworks and they responded the same day and were willing to ship out the nutsack and instructions right away. Nice. Good to be able to get a hold of the manufacturer like that.

Overall Rating : 8
I play blues and classic rock and have played guitar for over 20 years. I'm a gear hound and have been getting more and more into high end gear. I think I actually WOULD buy this pedal again. It's become kind of like my Swiss Army knife in dialing in a good sound with a variety of gear. It can function as an external eq, compressor, or level boost. Yeah, I'd buy it again. I may have to sample more of Toadworks stuff as well.

Great tone is had by simply setting all three of the knobs to 12 o'clock. That's where I recommend starting. You don't have to do much because this is one great pedal. I like to crank the gain to about 3 o'clock for that extra push and you can really hear the "squish".

A simple one-page manual but you don't really need it. Just plug it in and start dialing.

Sound Quality : 10
I definitely hear the compression. It is NOT A DYNACOMP! A Dynacomp is an "effect" pedal in the sense that you can hear a compression effect. Mr. Squishy is definitely a true compression pedal, which is more transparent and WAY MORE toneful than an effect pedal. Hell, I've even hooked it up through a Rode NT1 microphone and into my computer for some condensor microphone recording and it was terrrific, low-noise, clear, and smoothed out my Larrivee beautifully.

I generally use either a Telecaster (with Fender Noiseless pickups), a custom Strat (with Tom Anderson pickups) and Gibson Les Paul classic through my Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb. I have a Tube Screamer, Boss DD3, custom CryBaby wah, Rat, and Ernie Ball volume. Mr. Squishy sounds great between the volume and wah pedals.

NO NOISE. True Bypass!!

I usually never turn off Mr. Squishy. He doesn't like it.

Reliability : 10
Absolutely depend on it. Built like a tank, love the canvas sack it comes in.

I'd use any pedal on a gig without a backup. But I'd really miss Mr. Squishy.

Customer Support : 10
Don't know. Got it through PedalGeek. I got a lousy peg tuner as a free gift...

I did leave the ToadWorks guys a voicemail about how much I love their pedal, left my email but didn't hear back. No worries.

Overall Rating : 10
I play a lot of alt country, classic rock - working on a rock opera about Evel Knievel - and jazz and have always used a compressor pedal, usually a Dynacomp. But until Mr. Squishy, it was just an effect in the line. Now, my compression is part of my tone and that's a very good, good thing!

Pro musician, been playing for over 30 years.

I would definitely buy another Mr. Squishy. I love the color and the knobs.

My advice to any one wanting a good compression pedal is to decide if you want a compression "effect" or just good "compression." There is a big difference here. Another guitarist friend of mine bought a Keeley compressor and was complaining he couldn't hear it compared to his Dynacomp. Same thing here. Mr. Squishy adds a natural, transparent compression that doesn't get in the way of your overall tone, playing style, guitar, or amp. Yet, it just somehow makes whatever you got going on sound WAY MUCH bettter. It enhances the unique tonal characteristics of your rig in a way that is wholly natural and pleasing. Sure, you can crank the gain to get an outrageously edgy tone, and that's cool, but I feel it works best when it simply smooths out your tone - highs ring, chords are fully expressed, lows are full without the boom. For country or clean picking, this pedal is a must have in the arsenal.

Now, if ToadWorks would only release their Echo pedal!!

Very easy to use. Three knobs: Gain (Input Gain), Squish (Comression) and Level (Volume). The thing to get used to is how the inout gain interacts with the compression. This relationship changes with instruments of different outputs.

Sound Quality : 9
I am very pleased with the sound of Mr Squishy. My set-up is: Fender P-basses, Mr Squishy, Gallien Krueger 1001RB II through an Avatar 210 and 212. I have been looking for a compressor to give me a transparent punch, slight thickening and a smoothing (but not elimination) of dynamics. Mr Squishy delivers! It is easy to dial in a very well mannered compression. Dead quiet as well. I first have to dial in my sound by balancing the Gain with the Squish knob. The level brings it back to unity.

If I could wave a magig wand, I would like to see some sort of compression indicator; my Carl Martin has an LED that intensifies when the compressor is working, and my ARTs have different colored LEDs to indicate tha amount of compression. Something like that would be useful, but not a show stopper. It has true bypass switching which is a nice tone feature when the pedal is off, but for my purposes it remains on.

Reliability : 9
So far so good. It is built like a tank and I can't imagine what I could do to damage it. (I don't stomp on it anyway, it safely sits on my amp.)

Customer Support : 9
Doug (it appears he's one of the head Toads), was very helpful in my questions about using it for Bass. Since I have not had any trouble with the unit, I don't have any service related history with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing bass for about twenty years. I play rock, blues, rootsy western stuff and whatever else. I have always liked using compressors and this has been my favorite. Other products have been too sensitive or not responsive enough. Many compressors are white noise generators. Again, this sucker is quiet, quiet, quiet! I have owned many compressors. I also have a Carl Martin which is great but very touchy, especialy live, and an ART Levelar, which is also a nice compressor (if it had an input gain, I'de almost like it as much as Mr Squishy). Toadworks is trying to market their stuff to guitarists, but this pedal is fantastic for bass. I highly recommend it.

3 knobs.... Volume, Gain, Compress (Squish)... Volume adjusts your output level, Gain adjusts the input signal into Mr. Squish (at higher settings it overdrives), and Squish adjusts the amount of compression. Easy, straightforward, and very interactive controls for a vast array of compression type tones.

Sound Quality : 10
Use it for vocals, use it for acoustic guitar, use it for bass, use it for drums, or even whole recordings. It's a great little analog compressor, with lotsa versatility. Using it with an electric guitar and a tube amp, you can go from springy jangle-spank Steve Miller type clean tones, to all out pschedellic harmonic juice-jam wail. I sold my Z Vex Super Hard On when I bought this pedal as it does a reasonably close impersonation of the SHO sound/feel... if not exact. Squishy offers a big time boost if you need it, can be a great sounding overdrive if you crank the gain. What an awesome pedal with fantastic versatility (as far as applications goes), great tone... It's not a sustain-a-holic compressor... Not an Armstrong or Ross clone, but in my opinion, a better, more versatile twist on compression... More useable, more toneful. True bypass for no ill-effect when the pedal is off. Could be a great live pedal, as a lot of different results can be had via controls on the guitar. I only use my for recording in all the different ways I've mentioned. I'd buy another for sure.

Right now it's main call of duty is to juice up an old solid state Fender 2x12 combo that serves as a vocal amp at band practice (nobody wants to splurge on a PA just for practice, and all the clubs we play have a house PA). It works great for adding clean volume/headroom, and provides our singer with a better sound reproduction of his voice... allows for comfortable use of range on both quiet and loud passages of songs.

Reliability : 10
Looks solid. I don't gig with it, but I would without a backup. Hammond box, internals are clean... VERY nice metal knobs - I wish other pedal makers would take a cue off this and quite using cheesy plastic knobs... amp makers too. Yeah, chickenhead knobs are vintage, but I want something that's gonna hold up when I drop-kick it across the room, stomp on it, drop stuff on it, etc. This pedal strikes me as the type that would hold up to that kind of abuse.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Awesome. As good as any I've dealt with. Ryan's a nice guy, and offered a prompt response to my product inquiry. I purchased it from www.effectsforless.com. Awesome dealer, great price - I'd buy from them again. I'm not going to give a rating on this as I've only had it for two months, and the real measure of customer support is when you have a problem that needs fixing.

Overall Rating : 10
It's a great pedal... I've said as much as I really need to say, and the Rev's review below says a bunch more. At $124 this pedal is an ABOSLUTE steal. I can't believe how affordable it is for what it is... I'd have paid $200 plus now knowing how fantastic this thing is. It's the best analog compressor I've ever used, it's an original design, and they're affordable. It is a permanent fixture in a relatively small collection of gear. I don't keep anything that's less than pefect for the applications I need it to fill. This one's a keeper. Great product.

Three Knobs and a Stomp Switch. If you can't figure this out then there's something severly wrong with you and you should stop reading this and go get some real help. That aside - it does come with an instruction sheet that does contain very helpful information about this pedal - and a cool Toadworks sticker :)

Sound Quality : 10
I used a variety of guitars and amps with this pedal - all with consistent results throughout. Gibson Les Pauls, SG-Z, Flying V, Fender Strats, and a 72 Tele Thinline. Amps ranged from Fender Blues DeVille Deluxe, Hot Rod DeVille, Gibson Goldtone GA15RV and a Fender Dual Showman Super Reverb.

I have used a Keeley Compressor for the past couple of years and I love it dearly. I purchased the Keeley for one reason - sustain sustain sustain. And it delivers extremely well. I bought Mr Squishy having purchased Toadworks first pedal offering, Mr Ed. Ryan Dunn - the founder of Toadworks, with his partner Doug - will tell you right up front that this is not a sustain device - yet it does that and more..let me explain further..

Mr Squishy sounds simply excellent all on it's own. It brings a definitive punch and sparkle to your tone that all by itself is worth the price of admission. It also has a unique ability - to do a slow rise! Over a span of 2-4 seconds after hitting a note or a chord - this baby will take the decaying signal and bring it back to full strength using a slow rise (or swell) effect. Very beautiful to hear, very ringing and bell like tone - perfect if you are happy with your original signal (base tone) (guitar and amp). Additonally with hot pickups (like Les Paul Humbuckers) if you turn the gain all the way up - you can get a slight, but very clean and organic, distortion. Very raw and wonderfully rich.

When you add a dirt/OD box after Mr Squishy - Look out! You can utilize that slow rise (2-4 seconds) to cause a blissful, sustaining, harmonic wail - both on CHORDS and individual notes. And this can be done without killing the neighbors - this rolling thunderous sustain definitively leads into the next riff or chord progression - whatever you're wanting to do. It establishes a sort of tempo that you can either play with - or against, and is very cool indeed.

This ability to have sustaining harmonic bliss - ON DEMAND - and the ability to also be able to use this otherwise subtle rolling swell on clean tone as well - makes Toadworks latest offering a must have pedal - for both the performing and the bedroom musician. There's nothing else out there like this - for having a unique and wonderfully clean tone - and the inherent ability to be able to produce very controllable wailing harmonics - I easily give Mr Squishy a 10 for sound qaulity!

Reliability : 10
Ryann offers a 5 year non-transferable warranty and top of the line excellent customer service. His pedals are built very sturdy and I would gig with this pedal without a backup anytime - although I am thinking of grabbing another just in case Ryan ever gets shot by a jealous husband or something :)

Customer Support : 10
Excellent excellent excellent. On par with Robert Keeley - need I say more?

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 37 years and I'd like to think that I know a little bit about tone. My band (www.rivercityrockets.com) plays mainly classic rock, rock & roll, and rhythm and rocking blues. This pedal is perfect for a number of genres - including both acoustic, jazz and clean - as well as what we play. Versatile as hell. You can read a more indepth review at my band's website on Mr Squishy - or go to the Harmony Central Effects Forum for more discussion on this pedal.

This pedal puts Toadworks in immediate and serious contention as a pedal designing/manufacturing firm - right up there with the more well-knowns out there. That's not an easy thing to do these days. Thanks for making a great product Ryan and Doug - and I'll be watching for all future offerings from Toadworks!

This is a three knob compressor aimed at those looking for as little coloration of their tone as possible. The knobs work as follows:

GAIN: Adjusts the input from your guitar. Basically, your guitar sounds somewhat trebly if the gain is too low. I have it all the way up, or 5:00, with my Strat and a little past 3:00 with my Les Paul.

SQUISH: Adjusts the amount of compression. Since this is a relatively subtle compression, you really have to listen to the changes as you turn the knob clockwise to increase the effect, up until 4:00. But the changes are definite if you know what to listen for. At 4:00 and up, there's a distinct ramp up in the compression effect and drop off in the level. Up to that point, the Squish knob doesn't change the level at all, unlike the DynaComp and its derivatives. I have mine set at 1:00.

LEVEL: Does what it supposed to, makes it louder! I'm playing at bedroom levels right now, so it's tough figuring out unity gain. My general rule of thumb to determine gig levels is find what I think unity is, and then tweak it up a bit. Right now I've got it set a little above 10:00.

True bypass, AC adapter jack, and mine came with a bright blue LED. Fresh on the market, so I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet.

I replaced my Analogman DynaRoss with Mr. Squishy. The first big difference was the improved clarity of my clean signal (who says true bypass is a bunch of hooey?!). The main thing about this compressor is the clarity of your guitar's natural tone, and how it just kinda jumps out at you with this pedal on. That bein' said, this is a relatively subtle effect that's more missed when you turn it off. Put a different way, you don't notice much of a difference when you turn it on, but when you turn it off, your guitar suddenly sounds like it's lost some life. Seem like a contradiction, but your guitar sounds crisper and smoother at the same time. A very punchy attack with a nice smooth release along with what sounds and "feels" like a richer version of "your guitar."

The only compressors I can compare it to are the Analogman DynaRoss that this replaced, and the Visual Sound Rt. 66, which is based on the DynaComp but with a tone knob. I like both of these, as they do fatten up my guitar in a good way. However, both of these tend to color my tone, just in different ways. The DynaRoss rolls off a bit of highs where the Rt. 66 has a bit of a mid hump no matter how the tone knob is set. They are also both much noiser than Mr. Squishy.

I guess the big thing to remember with this compressor is that is not a DynaComp/Ross clone. Mr. Squishy works well for the tone I'm after, a full range sound with lots of punchy high end without the icepick-to-ear thing happening.

Reliability : 9
Very solid construction, except for the loose LED. It's attached to the PCB which flexes when you push on the LED. I don't plan on stepping on the LED, so it shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you don't use a battery, tape the battery connector as it might rub up against the 3PDT switch and make it noisey. Probably an obvious thing, but I forgot when I first turned the pedal on!

Great communication with Ryan Dunn. Comes with a 5 year warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
Play in a Christian Rock/Praise band covering bands like Audio Adrenaline, Third Day, Jars of Clay, Lincoln Brewster, etc. Also play classic rock, blues, and jazz. Also play electric violin. I'd get another Mr. Squishy if anything ever happened to it. I'm pretty picky when it comes to retaining the highs of my guitar through my effects, and Mr. Squishy is excellent at that. As mentioned above, I also own an Analogman DynaRoss and Visual Sound Rt. 66. Mr. Squishy is my favorite of the three.
