Ease of Use : 10
easy to use

Sound Quality : 10
can dial in exact tube screamer tone, actually it uses the same opamp as the tube screamer exept that this pedal adds an extra frequency dial, making it even better.

Reliability : 8
pretty solid like a Boss pedal but with cheaper jacks. I recommend swapping the jacks out with switchcraft jacks or even RatShack jacks.

DOH!

Overall Rating : 10
I have seen a couple of these go for $150-$200 USD....If you like classic tone and use a tube amp get one even at $200 USD its worth it just to get those SRV tones.

It's not rocket science. Just four controls. Takes 5 minutes to set up whatever sound you're looking for. They're all in there.

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds great with tube or tranny amps (I've had AC30s, various Marshalls, currently use a Bassman reissue). This little black box really rocks. Can be as fat as er a large person or sharp and biting. Gives a warm valve sound at the lowest volumes. Plenty of sustain for creamy solos.

Reliability : 10
I've had four in my time and they never let me down. I only sold them on when I went down the Boss ME6/ME8/GT5 route and slowly watched my tone being sucked away....... no fool like an old fool.... 8?(

Never had a reason to contact them.

I've played rock, pop, cabaret, blues and even some country in my time. I've been playing for 32 years and this is the only pedal that I have ever regretted selling and I've had a stupid amount of different ones (mostly Boss or MXR, the odd Arion and even a Marshall). It just sounds great at any volume.

Respect to Guitarist magazine for reviewing it back in 1986 and persuading me to buy it. It was 35 quid and the best money I ever spent on any piece of gear. Period. I bought the other 3 second hand at various music shows for about the same.

Currently replacing my GT5 with foot pedals and on the hunt for as many TMD-1's as I can find. I haven't heard any other analogue drive/distortion pedal that comes close to it for tone.

4 knobs 2 for eq and then drive and dirt - dead easy

Sound Quality : 9
not bad for nearly 20 years old - those tygers of pan tang (only those with degree in 80's metal will remember them)riffs are a breeze with this

Reliability : 10
so after nearly 20 years the thing has nearly given up the ghost, the jack sockets are loose and 2 of the pots are moody, but not bad for the abuse it has had overthe years - dreading replacing it though (how much for a tibe screamer?)

Customer Support : No Opinion
never used them

Overall Rating : 10
knockout piece of kit - shame she's buggered now though - anybody got one for sale?
