Analog phase shifter. Paid $40 for it from a friend who'd had it for years. The reason I wanted this phase shifter is that it was the only one that that I tried that worked well with my keyboards. The newer Boss, Danelectro, and Zoom units I tried just didn't sound right. I run it with a Roland Juno 106 and an Oberheim Matrix 1000, both being analog synths. Sometimes I run synth drums through it too. Nice for drum intros.

Sound Quality : 10
Very cool. Great for synths. Easy to set phase cycle time and sync to meter.

Reliability : 10
Very realiable. I think it was made in the 70s in Japan.

Tokai is an old guitar company. I really don't know if they're still around.

Overall Rating : 10
Great phaser for analog synths.

Like most pedals, just plug in, fiddle with knobs, and go. Mine is the older silver version.

Sound Quality : 10
This is an old analog phase shifter, and it sounds very different from digital phasers. It really reminds me of the effects that people had in the 70s. The sweet spot on this is fairly narrow, but what as sweet spot it is! It sounds best with single coil pick-ups. I mainly use it with an Epiphone Casino with P-90s.

Reliability : 10
I bought it used a few months ago, and it was made in the late 70s, so it's past the test of time. These are built strong - very thick aluminum casing.

Too old to expect any.

Overall Rating : 10
Nice. If you're looking for real 70s vibe - here it is.

Depth, Speed, Feedback controls pretty much as you expect from a phaser

Sound Quality : 6
The sound is rather thin. Also, not subtle enough, i have to turn feedback and depth all the way back, else the effect swamps whatever you play. Because of all this , the use is very limited, only to be used on very specific songs. On the positive side it is not noisy.

Reliability : 9
solid as a rock

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno

Overall Rating : 6
the sound is too thin and not subtle enough - i am afraid i will have to get a more expensive phaser somewhere.

The Tokai TPH-1 Is a simple phaser. you can use it for a smooth phasing sound, a weird effect wih speed all the way up are as a king of reonator. it has a unic sound to it.

Controll's: Depth, Speed, Feedback, on/off(pedal), jack in and jack out. you can power it by a 9v adaptor.

it is slightly bigger than a boss pedal butt doesnt look odd like some other pedals do.

you will work it out easily when you use this pedal. no difficulty's

Sound Quality : 9
I use this in front of my Mesa/boogie mark IV an after my gibson smartwood LP. i use other pedals beside this one wich are in front of the preamp and in the fxloop.
it doesnt color my sound when off. there is no level controll on it for you to controll how much signal remains clean and how much is effected by the phaser. butt that gives it the sound it has. it is pretty good.

Reliability : 9
The case is very sturdy and if it would fall from the stairs there would be no problem. it looks good. and it looks like new although.
the casing is metal and the on off underneath the pedal looks like the ones Boss uses. so it is real good.the pots feel the same way like good stuff does when you trun it so I must say it is pretty good.

Tokai makes guitars. thats what I knew from them. butt thats all there is. I dont think i will ever contact them...

Overall Rating : 9
I play Gospel, rock, metal and everything in between. i've been playing for about 5 years now and owned lots of gear. including Rocktron chameleon 2000, G-major, G-force, MPX-G2 and stuff like that bud line level gear doesnt cooperate with my boogie so i'm back to pedals and the sound pretty good in my fx loop. better then all line level rack gear I owned.
