Ease of Use : 9
As easy as the Phase 90, maybe even easier since the big foot shows you where to step. Battery is a pain to replace and the back plate can be difficult to get back on, but I forgive it.

Sound Quality : 10
I tried this out against a boutique Phase 90, Script 90, original Bad Stone, and some other newer phasers I don't remember. This was the clear winner - I wound up sitting is the store for over an hour just playing slow, subtle chords. The sweep is simultaneously subtle and lush, with just enough movement to keep things interesting. I tend to use this on the slower settings, which are definitely Hendrix-y. I am a confirmed phaser nut and this is my favorite by far. What impresses me the most is that even the fast settings sound clear without degrading into any dissonant ring modulator sounds. I'm told that the circuit is similar to the Phase 45, but the frequency response is much wider according to both my ear and the schematic.
I use this with a BOSS PH-2 (metallic sounds) and a newer Small Stone (for when I need generic sounds), but this is what I use when I need real musical sounds. I wish I could give it 11.

Reliability : 10
It's lasted the last 31 years just fine, and I don't see it breaking any time soon. It uses diodes for reverse polarity protection and a capacitor that acts as a power buffer - good thinking on Univox's part. I've tracked down all the parts on Small Bear, so I know I could repair it if something did go wrong, but here's hoping it's as good as I think.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Univox? Not any more, but you can still find the schematic and NOS parts.

Overall Rating : 10
My favorite phaser by far, maybe even my favorite pedal. I play lots of different styles and I can find a way to work this into all of them: Hendrix Univibe, jazzy leslie sounds, bluesy swirl. I even use this after distortion for over-the-top, unnatural sounds. My only complaint is that it is NOT true-bypass, but I run it after a buffer and it's fine. When I have some time and money in the future, I actually plan to clone this pedal so I'll have a backup.

It is very easy to get a good sound from this, and with only one knob to turn, it won't take you a long time to find your favorite settings.

Sound Quality : 10
With this unit you can dial in Trower, Hendrix, Pink Flyod, and many others. With the setting at about1,not one oclock, 1 out 10, very slow, it has a univibe sound. My current effects chain is a short one because doing the Hendrix thing. Fulltone ultimate octive-cry baby-univox microfazer-GSP21 legend. Amps I use,1971 marshall super tremelo, 1977 marshall 2x12 combo, 1981 marshall 2203,1964 fender band master etc. This unit sonds great in any set up I put it in.

Reliability : 10
I got this in 1976 used for $20.00 at sam ash in New York, At this point I think it has earned my confidence.

Customer Support : 5
It functions today exactly as it did in 1976. I wish every piece of equipment I have purchased performed like this. I figure that if their support is half as good as their product it should get a 5

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 34 years, can you imagine how many stomp boxes I've had in that time. None have come close to this one. I play blues, rock, hard rock, etc. I have fazers and flangers from the 80's that I thought would update my sound, they are all in my attic. I wish I had a univox univibe. I tried one in the 70's and didn't quiet get it. NOW I DO. This is for all guitarists who have been playing for 4 years or less, LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE BLUES IF YOU EVER WANT TO BECOME A GOOD GUITAR PLAYER, AND I MEAN IT!

One "Rate" dial, single In/Outputs, and one push button. Just turn the dial to your desired atmospheric conditions and enjoy. Simple as hell. I would give it an 8 for no tap tempo, but the rate dial is located on the side of the pedal and is easily accessed with your foot, so a 10 it is.

Sound Quality : 10
I haven't had much experience with this pedal- My equipment godfather gave it to me when I was young and I thought it quit working years ago. I just found it and threw a 9v in and hell yeah! I've never owned a dedicated phazer pedal so I can't really compare it with anything except shitty Zoom 505 Modulations. Anywho, this pedal does not ever sound like the gay phaze/flanger sound from the 80's. It's very warm and Hendrixy. Very life-like. I'm playing it w/a '75 Strat and an old ass suped-up Fender tweed practice amp that my dad owned as a youngster. The amp and guitar obviously contribute to the Hendrix tone but I can't wait to bring it to our jam room to run my 74 LP Custom though it to my '65 Twin.

Reliability : 8
This thing looks like it's been around for decades, and it's still awesome, the only thing that remotely sucks is the paint is all chipped off, but if you're like me, you'll dig that. And I WILL gig w/o a backup. Where the hell am I gonna find another one of these?

Customer Support : No Opinion
They're prolly all dead and deaf by now.

Overall Rating : 9
I play a kick ass style of music, all I know is that it's intelligent hard rock/metal/ambience. This pedal will whup ass for the ambient part of our music. I wish I would have known the damn thing worked when I was 11. I'm 23 now and realize I've been hooked up with a bad ass phazer. Check out www.betterleftunsaid2.moonfruit.com

In my opinion all pedals should be designed like this. One knob on the side so you can adjust the effect with your foot and not have to bend down every other song- and one dp switch. And most favorably, it has true bypass- no phantom wind sweeps when your picking straight up. Also the box is angled towards YOU a little....hmmm different.

Sound Quality : 10
Clear, smooth, sharp, crisp, and very warm. It is prototypical of an excellent 70's phaser- delivers every nuance in your attack and shapes the sweeps so they compliment your playing to a perfect fit. I'm really glad I got this. The one knob adjusts speed and although this unit is not as deep as the small stone, it is a lot more player-friendly and sounds beautiful, clear, (I guess like water, that's popular adjective now?) The best example of this sound would the Clash's London Calling- I can get Joe Strummer's rythm licks down without even thinking about it. I'd swear he used this pedal for that album. You'll need a Tele to get it right though.

Reliability : 10
Bought it used in brand new shape. It's just a tad higher than the MXR boxes, same style though. Can't see anything ever going wrong with it unless I dropped it the toilet.

Univox? Anyone have a spare time machine?

Overall Rating : 10
Couldn't be more satified. There is a little analog hiss but a very little and I would be disappointed if there wasn't. A little hiss is GOOD- it means you're working in a tone-rich environment. This pedal will go to my grandkids fifty years from now- hopefully I'll still be rocking and pissin' the old lady off. Yea, baby.

one knob, doesn't get any simpler. no ac capability, 9v battery only (they seem to last forever). Made in early 70's.

Sound Quality : 10
very watery, sort of shimmery that is extremely warm and anology sounding. can adjust the speed of phasing, tho I believe a touch goes along ways. one of the warmest sounding phasers I've ever heard...don't know about its bypass situation, tho it doesn't drain the pedal chain at all, like a non bypassed Vox wah does...when I do use it, the word is watery watery watery...works with all my guitars and amps equally well...

Reliability : 10
lasted 30 years so far...the black metal casing with the white foot painted over the switch has proved durable for three decades.

Japanese made...Univox is no more, I believe...as a low end/ cheaply priced product line, Univox made some excellent, durable stuff. (their low watt amps are GREAT (UB45)for under $100!)

The MicroPhaser is one of their better products.

Overall Rating : 10
Phasers aren't used too often by me, and when they are, I like just a little. The MicroPhaser is extremely good at doing that warm, ripple thang...a pebble drops in the water, and these are the sounds of the ripples...

very easey to use, plud in and Phase waway the day!

Sound Quality : 10
it's somewhat noisey but has "that phase sound" very surreal and watery, can even make it flutter and buble like being underwater! has a Hendrix vibe...

Reliability : 5
It's vintage so has stood the test of time! I would recomend trying this model out in person though because as with all vintage pedals they are old and some can be crappy sounding

who knows????

great watery wet sounding phase shift!( ever hear captian coco nut by Hendrix? it's in this box) I like it with my guild and my strat. works well with my Boss DD3, Turbo oD, and amp trem! so is compatable...they also have a micro faze 2 phase shifter that looks the same except for the name, I had this one and it sounded as good! either way you can't get this sound with another phase! if you can let me know!
