Turn the nob and watch the 'video counter' glow! I got this thing for a song and really love it. I wouldn't trade it for a Phase 90 or smallstone. Plus it looks cool.

Sound Quality : 9
It's got a great mellow sound. I hate jet engine phasers that sound like the deck on an aircraft carrier. I'd give it a 10 for sound quality except for two things. It's a one trick pony for tone, kind of a double phase sound, it almost sounds like two syncronized phasers. I wish the max setting were just a little faster but it still sounds cool, kind of a hyper leslie effect.

The other thing is that it seems to like a really hot signal. Played through my PRS it's really mellow, almost too mellow. My active bass loves this thing. But I have an old ELKA Rhapsody 610 string synth and this phaser makes those analog strings shine! I've played that thing for hours with my various keys.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long enough to really say. My box is in brand new condition. Not a scratch or a scuff. The former owner probably hadn't plugged it in in 20 years. I don't get any weird noise, nothing other than perfectly clean tone.

I can't imagine what would make this thing break if it's properly cared for, it only has one nob and a couple switches.

Despite the minor shortcomings I think this box will live in my little studio setup for a very long time. The first time I heard it at the seller's house I was hooked. He was trying to chat about stuff and I kept saying, "uh, huh, yeah," while digging the sound.

I was waiting for a good phaser for a long time. It's not an effect I'm really drawn to but this thing really got me. I would've paid a lot more for it after hearing the sound it makes.

Everyone loves thier own gear and tends to rate it highly. As of right now I really do love this thing. If it were stolen I'd mourn it for a long time and keep a sharp eye out for another one. It's the phaser for me. If you play metal and love a huge sweeping phaser this isn't your thing. But if you like some unintrusive color this is it.

one knob for speed of effect...very easy

Sound Quality : 9
I have been collecting Univox amps for a while and effects and am in love with every piece. This Phazer is no exception. The sound is subtle in a great way. It isn't as overbearing as many phasers (Boss, EH, etc..) and allows tone of the guitar to come though untainted. there is a bit of noise as with most analog effects but this usually means that there is no clipping of the tone.

I use it though a Univox 1061 110watt Blue b-group head and a Univox 2x10" cabinet with 1968 Jensen speakers. My guitars are a Les Paul Studio, Fender Fat Tele, Custom Strat, and Epiphone 335. My other effects are a Tubeworks Real Tube II and Blue Tube rack mounts, Danelectro Tremolo, Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus, and a Univox Unitron envelope follower. The Phazer works great with my set up bit I can't imagine it not working well with any instrument.

Reliability : 10

This is so far the best phasor that I've ever come across. It doesn't have an instruction manual and it doesn't need one. It's so simple to use, just a matter of turning a dial to incress the phasing speed. No depth or resonance controls because they simple aren't needed, it's perfect.

Sound Quality : 10
Right now I'm playing and Ibanez Jem 555 through it and then into Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp. In front of it, I first run into a Vox wah, then a Boss turbo overdrive, and then a boss eq before the signal goes into a Korg volume pedal and then into the phaser. There is a slight hum in the background, but it's hardly noticable, and the tone easily compensates. I found that if I run my eq with the Univox, I get a really beautiful chorus-like sound. I found that it can even make a solid state fender amp (the one that i tried it out on in the store) sound very tube. For a seventies funk, soul, R&B, rock, or raggae sound, it simply can't be beat.

Reliability : 8
I haven't played out with it much, infact I just picked it up recently so I can't say much here. It seems like it's held up quite well considering that it's about 10 years older than I am.

I honestly don't even know if the company is in business still. If I had problems with it, I'd probably do the maintenance myself or have a friend with some experience in electronics. Does not seem difficult to work on at all.

Overall Rating : 10
I very much enjoy this phazor for the forementioned styles. I play a little bit of all of them as well as some fusion, jazz and jam band stuff. There really isn't much that I can't see it sounding good for. If it were stolen or lost I'd definately go out of my way to find another (and i would probably have to). I suggest that anyone pick interested in using effects well to enhance their music seriously check it out. It makes making music a tremendous amount of fun. Run it with a wah and it gets really interesting. Everyone needs one!!!!

Very easy to use and you can't help but get a great sound out of it.

No manual available, I learned how to use it through trial and error.

I play all my guitars through it into my Carvin PA head. I have a 1968 Telecaster, Martin D-16 and a Fender Jazz bass. The phaser effects works great for all of them. I especially like the slow phase which sounds just like George Harrison on "Octopus Garden". If only I played like him.

Reliability : 10
I have had it for over 20 years. It recently was featured in Guitar Player magazine's "Pawnshop Prizes".

Never had to call them. I think they went out of business.

I found this little beauty in the back alley trashcan of my neighborhood music store. It was in pristine condition except for one thing, it didn't work. I took it apart and found a loose connection which I soldered. It has worked great since. Now it's a vintage collectors item and worth some bucks.

The first time I used it live was at a beef and beer gig. I played a Strat though it on the Doobie Brothers tune "Long Train Runnin".

It sounded like wind down the highway.
