four inputs. three sliders. one switch.

Sound Quality : 7
pretty darn nice reverb. Not up to old tube reverb quality, but a nice substitute for those budgetly minded. It will, however, tend to make the sound a bit more, umm, garage than some people might like.

Reliability : 8
If it breaks, it is probably just a fuse. Carry a spare and you're fine.

I think for the price, it is a great reverb. Of course, it won't compare to a vintage fender twin, but how often do you find those for $50? I liked it better than the other budget option nowadays (eh holy grail) as it is a true spring reverb. Nice 1970s rec room aesthetic, too.

Pretty easy to use.
Has two channels (with 2 inputs each), a mono line out, a reverb level and seperate channel volume levels.
I didn't have a manual with this (this was my dad's old reverb unit, until he gave it to me).

Sound Quality : 9
I really like the way this unit sounds. It sounds like a tube reverb but it really isn't (I've opened up the unit, by removing the 4 small screws underneath, and pulled the front off and saw no tubes).
It can be noisy (hiss only), at really high levels (channels volume and the reverb volume maxed out) ... this could be because it's so old.

The Univox's setting I use are:
Reverb = 7
Volume (channel 1) = 8
Volume (channel 2) = 0

I used this unit last night with my Ampeg Superjet (SJ2T reissue (the Ampeg doesn't have enough reverb for me) and an Fender American standard stratocaster, and it sounded great. After a while I ran the guitar through a Electro-Harmonix Big Muff to the reverb unit then to the amp and it still sounded great.

My amp setting are like this:
Volume = 2
Tone = 3
Speed = 0
Intensity = 0
Reverb = 8 1/2

I do use the amp's reverb along with the Univox reverb unit ... it sounds really cool with both reverbs going (with both reverbs going, the sound is really close to a Fender reverb sound).

Reliability : 10
I've never gigged with the unit, but it's been with my dad for years and I've used it from time to time over the past 10 years.

I'm not sure how old it is, but I do know it's older than 20 years.

I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and play a various styles of music (gospel, country, blues, classic rock, etc.).

I really like lots of reverb and vintage sounding / looking equipment so this works for me.

Just a funky old solid-state reverb with a short pan.
AC power, 2 channels, 4 inputs (2 for each channel).
3 sliders, 1 volume for each channel, 1 for reverb level
Other than that, there's a footswitch jack (footswitch missing), output jack (mono), and the ever-present "on" switch with a clear LED.

Honestly, If'n you can't figure this out in less than a minute, God help you, o poor soul.

Sound Quality : 8
I heard all those wonderful things about Fender and Ampeg reverbs, and since Univox was, well, "Budget" before that was really good, I expected it to sound nasty, crackle, and in general make my life miserable.
But, I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged in, turned on, and rocked out. The Volume barely gets back to unity gain, but that's enough. As long as there's no drop. I can always turn down (yeah, right).
The Reverb: Tone Nazis will say that nothing can match the sound of a Tube driven, 3-spring, long pan reverb tank. Be that as it may, this is a beautiful-sounding unit.
With the 'verb dimed, It does "pipeline" VERY convincingly. At about halfway up, it's just a bit of "atmosphere" for your sound, which is pleasant, yet it doesn't color your sound in any noticeable way, especially if you were already running into a tube amp. you sound the same, except now you have reverb, which is how it should be.

A couple of side notes:
#1 Bridging the channels doesn't help on this unit, in fact it drops the level a bit, even with both channels dimed. so this technique is not recommended.
#2 this thing has no footswitch anymore (if it ever did), but it's a "set and forget" effect, so It doesn't really matter.

Reliability : 10
The Voice of wisdom speaketh: NEVER GIG without a backup! with this effect it's less critical.
However, if it stops working you will have to unplug the unit, as it will not pass ANY signal when the unit is off (either turned off or unplugged, or otherwise). As for reliability...Well, 25-30 years later it still works, so there you go.

Univox be looooong gone. But these things are pretty readily repairable most anywhere. Besides, the circuit's pretty simple and these things are still pretty common...

No matter what you play, with the possible exceptions of hardcore or metal, Reverb is one of those effects that is more necessary than you might think. And for 50 bucks, This is very hard to beat in the bang for buck category.
The sound is just reverb, pure and simple, and it complements my sound quite nicely, thank you. It doesn't give any surprises, either good or bad. It just does reverb and it does it well. And for me, that's enough.
