I had a morley and a built in waw with my Boss ME50. Neither compare to this one. It has a much clearer and cleaner tone. Not as clear as not using it but for a waw, very clean. With my ash strat, you can get that funky crisp snappy tone out of it. The ME50 built in waw has far less range and you loose your volume pedal function so your stuck on high volume which makes it hard to use.

built like a chrome tank no problems after 3 years

I've been playing over 30 years, I love this waw it has the tone of the 60's & 70's nailed. It looks great, they even gave me a nice vox bag with it. It is heavy and weld built. The true bypass is a plus and despite what one guy said about it. not being a true bypass, using it through my Fender Deluxe Reverb, (A very clear amp) I have not notice any tone loss. There is about 2 or 3 db volume gain that I do not mind.

The only thing it lacks is an on light. No big deal. My old morly waw sounds like crap compared to this one.

I'm having a hard time rating this above 5.

The pedal sucks tone when it is off. No other way to describe this and that is why I sent it back to MF for a refund.

The tone of the wah itself seemed fine, but the tone suck was unacceptable to me even though it is supposed to have true bypass.
Maybe they need to do more to the circuits because it is not true bypass?

I'm running a Reverend guitar with Duncan PUs into a Budda SD18 combo.
I'm also using Fulltone 10' cables. This is quality stuff.
I have a few other pedals that I use to test things like tone suck.

I can say without any uncertainty that the problem was the pedal itself and since I would have it turned off most of the time I'm playing, I can't use this device.

Sorry, but it's got issues and the true bypass issue is false advertising IMO.

No manual needed, it's a wah. I can think of nothing more simple to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I have tried 12 to 13 wahs this past year. Dunlops Zakk Wylde, Slash, and Dimebag Darrell Wahs, the cheap Behringer, GigFX Mega Wah, Morley Bad Horsie II and George Lynch Dragon Wah, Snarling Dog Moldspore, Dunlop 535Q, the original Crybaby, and the Ibanez Weeping Demon. The Clyde McCoy sounds excellent clean or distorted. It comes true bypass so no need for modding it. I have always disliked having to rock forward to turn on a wah, which is why I wanted a Morley. But this thing is incredible. Once I knew this would be a keeper, I pull the 2 rubber pads from under front of the rocker so it would press the switch easier. The McCoy has a great range also. I have this little signature lick that I bend up the G string at the 12th fret and rock the pedal all the way forward and let the feedback ring for a moment.

Vox has been around 50 years, there are a lot of them around out there to this day.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. But I am sure they back their stuff.

Overall Rating : 10
I mostly play blues and rock. So I need a good wah for this purpose. I am staying with this wah. Play it and you will see. I don't like rocking forward to activate, but a quick in home mod makes it easier.

What can I say? Its a wah pedal. Not too stiff, not too loose.

Sound Quality : 2
I was very dissapointed. Sounded terrible for voodoo child ~ absaloutely no 'waka waka'. I tried it through my gibby les paul and my MIJ strat. It sounds as though you get a sudden jolt of treble boost when the pedal is fully down, so it really hurts your ears. Also this pedal alters your tone completely so switching the pedal off back to normal tone is realy HIGHLY noticeable. Dont waste your money on one of these, you may as well have a classic dunlop cry baby for a fraction of the price, which I beleive to be a better wah pedal. I may just have had a badie, since everyone else has given this pedal good reviews...

Reliability : 9
Seems pretty tough and chromed up! Could probably stand a good kicking, which I have been very tempted to do!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 2
If it was stolen I would be dissapointed because there is a lot of value in the name VOX and I could have probably made my money back on eBay. I would then replace it ...with a dunop cry baby.

We all know how to use these.

I play a stock Epiphone Casino with Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups through a '74 5 Watt WEM Clubman. You have NO idea how dissapointed i am with this pedal! All the crap i've heard about it which just ain't true! Yes it sounds good but no better than my '72 Maestro Boomerang which cost me #40!! You can sound a bit like Hendrix and Clapton but 'Voodoo Chile' it ain't! That was the sound i'd expected but this doesn't deliver. Yes,yes i hear you say but your're playing a Casino what d'ya expect?! I also play a US strat and sounds even worse! Maybe the V846 is the one.Maybe not.Has a nice tone but doesn't justify the rep.My wah referances are; Dunlop CryBaby, Maestro Boomerang and a Colorsound wah.I'll give it a 9 for sound but if i were basing this on price i'd give it a 2. And yes halo inducter and all the correct bits! Sorry guys!

Reliability : No Opinion
Not sure. It's a '66 so it's had a good innings. I wouldn't gig with it coz it's so expensive but i'm sure it would be fine.

I think the warranty might have run out.Just.

Overall Rating : 6
My tastes are quite eclectic and too numerous to mention here. This is good for the sixties but that's it baby! I'm no great Hendrix fan but i DO LOVE the sound on 'Voodoo Chile' and it's not here. Guitarists (and i include myself here) are a very backward looking lot. We hold certain guitars, pedals etc as sacred cows when the reality is that Hendrix et al were just using what was availible to them at the time. I doubt they would still use this. If they were so great they would not have stopped making them in the 1st place. Maybe this is why modern music is so crap? There is always that illusion that if ONLY i had a V846, Clyde McCoy, Fuzz face or whatever that you would sound like the God you think you are. Sorry brother but it's practice and hard work coupled with creativity. Not a pedal. Until some young lad comes along with the talent and imagination to create something new then 'rock' music will stay what is: Karaoke. Nostalgia. That is why no one is listening. And no one will.

Easy to use but I just didn't like the feel of it. I prefer the V847 or other models.

Sound Quality : 6
The Q & the tone where it is set at isn't set very good to me. Didn't have a good normal Vox tone to me and all I have ever used is Vox over the 30 years I have played. It also adds a little gain & distortion of it's own not much but enough to change things up a little to much. Also it would jump up in volume to much and I like to control my volume and when I turn on a effect it stays the same volume and doesn't go down or up in volume. It is also like the mid was scooped a little and I didn't like this but many of today guitar players might. I like a wah to sound like SRV,EC's, or Jimi's did and this pedal didn't come close. I like a good vocal sounding wah that you can talk with and you could not talk with this pedal.

Reliability : 9
It stayed in like new good playing shape over the 6 months I tried it out.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't have to deal with company

Overall Rating : 6
Bought it on Ebay new. Prefered the stock V847 over this one even though they don't come with a true bypass or 9V adapter. would buy a V947 & mod it first before I would get one of these. A Budda is far better wah. I think people buy this pedal out of the hype instead of really listening to it. I think the $125.00 for this pedal is to much and that was a pretty good discount. Get yourselves a V847 & mod it you will be happier in the long run.

It's a wah pedal. Click on , you're "wahing" (is that a word ? if not , it should be) . Click off , your bypassed. That simple1

Sound Quality : 10
Im using a Peter Tosh set up
Gibson Les Paul Special and Fender Stratocaster into this wah wah pedal and and A-B signal split between a Fender Twin Reverb and Fender Bassman.

the sound quality has already been covered in detail so i will just put another stamp behind the words of the people ahead of me

Reliability : 9
Its dependable , but I dont know about gigging with it . It's pretty valuable , i think for gigging purposes , I would use a vox wah , and use THIS as the backup . Not as sturdy as a Jim Dunlop , but Ill take sound over stability!

Does Vox even remember this thing?! =)

Easy to get the Clapton Hendrix thing going. No sweat!!
Mine has a date of August 1967 on the Pot. Signature model with an Allen Bradley Pot and Green Arco Caps. Transistors are BC-109B old old British crown transistors. Great Wah There is no substitute.

What can I say. Not only do I own a Clyde, but it could very well be "HIS" if you know what I mean. This thing sounds more like Hendrix than Hedrix. I cannot believe I own one of these, I'm pinching myself. Awsommmmmeee incredible Disreali Gears sounds to make you climax. Halo inductor, can transistors and a top of the line Allen Bradley Type J Pot Yeaaahhhh Babyyy.

Only a few of them, and only a few good sounding. This Clyde McCoy is the best sounding Vox I've ever ever heard. Please do not try to tell me that anything will come close. We're talking Clyde McCoy with all the 18K Italian goods. Nothing even comes close

Best sounding pedal I've ever heard - period!

Must have extra 9v battery, reliable for a 32 year old wah.
I would feel okay about not using a backup, but a backup would put my mind more at easy.

geoffrey tesse did a wonderful modification on one of my V846 - now he is retired from vintage repairs & mods.

Not only is this the finest wah, it is best effect I've heard. AMAZING....worth the high price!!!
