AN IMPORTANT NOTE:

Careful when buying the One Spot from Musicians Friend: Not too long ago, they were stocking and selling an old model.

The new model of the One Spot is fantastic. They've upgraded the power rating and added a thicker lamp-cord style cable. It's very heavy duty and very high quality. The unit works perfectly!!!

Sound Quality : 10
Pristine. As it should be from something that powers pedals, there is no interference or change in sound when in use.

Reliability : 10
The new thick lampcord is a great improvement. This thing will last. It's not an expensive, big brick-sized power supply. It's quality, small, and does the job.

Customer Support : 10
If you email them, they write back. They really show that they care about their products. Dealing with them has been one of my better experiences in dealing with companies.

Overall Rating : 10

Its pretty easy to use. Buy the adapter and all of the daisy chain cables and hook up your pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
I run quite a few pedals and I tried to power them all with my Boss Tu-2 and with some 9v adaptors. The problem here is that the daisy chain for the Boss pedal assumes that you're running 8 Boss pedals right next to each other. Not the case most of the time. Then I tried the Voodoo Lab pedal power 2. I was really impressed, but it was something like $180 dollars and it still only powered 8 pedals. I decided to try the 1-spot because the daisy chains are longer and you can power up to 20 pedals with it. I've heard some comments about noise and whatnot coming from the 1-Spot. I have yet to hear any noise from the adaptor. Although my Route 66 pedal started picking up AM radio after I started using this thing...kinda strange.

Reliability : 10
It is built pretty solid. They're cheap enough that I'll probably pick up a second one as a backup.

Overall Rating : 10
If you need a cheaper way to get your pedalboard powered and organized, give the 1-spot a chance.

Just plug it in and connect the daisy chain if you're using more than a single pedal.

Sound Quality : 10
I was previously using the furman spb8, but expanded my pedalboard to a custom size ngm board (check em' out). I'm running two one spots and have one running two line 6 modelers and three other pedals, the other runs another line 6 modeler, and nine other pedals. I haven't had a single instance of hum as other s have mentioned. I'm really impressed with the powering capabilities and the price tag (relatively cheap compared to other competitors).

Reliability : 10
I gig with these and haven't yet been let down. I've owned the original jekyll & hyde made by visual sound along with the new version of the rt. 66, and have never had a problem with either.

I've never contacted Bob Weil, but hear he stands behind his line with pride and cares for those of us using his products. I can't ask for more than that.

Overall Rating : 10
Exceptional product, and the price won't hurt the majority of our bank accounts.

Sound Quality : 10
Does not effect the sound quality of my rig. Which is how it should be.

Reliability : 10
Has been very dependable through better than 100 jobs this year.

Bob and the folks at Visual sound are super, high integrity people whom I've enjoyed knowing and dealing with. He's a guitarist and understands the needs of fellow musicians. Very nice company to deal with.

Overall Rating : 10
A very good product of smart design. Fills a need for working musicians at a price anyone can afford. Good variety of accessories for multiple applications. Great Product.

My first One Spot worked for a year and then died, adding only noise when plugged in.

I decided to give the One Spot another try, buying a new one.
This one wont power more than two pedals at once, or it suddenly adds lots of noise. It's a rush of noise whenever I try to turn on more than two pedals.

All my pedals are negative ground, true-bypass, quality pedals. All work together at the same time with battery power. But with the one spot, it's nothing but noise. How disappointing.

plug it in, connect your pedals, turn on ur amp and start jammin!

Sound Quality : 1
the 1 SPOT powers 5 fx. here's my setup:

In line w/ amp:

Peavey Classic 30>>>>>BOSS SD-1>>Dunlop Crybaby Classic>>Aphex Guitar Xciter>>>>>Modded Epiphone LP Strd.

FX Loop:
BOSS BF-3>>Maxon GE-601 Graphic EQ

all powered by 1spot and using Monster Jazz cables w/ Ernie Ball A/A patch cords (also added a friggen bright blue LED to the 1SPOT to tell when its on)

....its as if therye all powerd by Duracells...:-o

if there was a zero i would rate it that. the reason it is so low is b/c i CANT HEAR IT!! thats wat i want.

Reliability : 4
it seems weak n flemsy. its plastic. the cable needs to be thicker-like monster jazz cable thickness. also im gonna add a metal casing around the 1spot part where u plug it in. just in case.....

After 2 hours of trying to figure out why I had considerable amounts of noise coming from my effects board, i realized that the One Spot was the problem. I'm using it to power a Holy Grail, a Cry Baby and a cheap fender pedal tuner.

The wierd thing is, the sourse of the noise seemed to change. At first it was coming from the Cry Baby, then it was the tuner, then the Cry Baby again, then it was the Holy Grail. Finally I tried running individual power to each and voila, no more noise.

The guy who recomended it to me uses a One Spot and he has no issues with noise and he powers a cry baby, a holy grail, and some boss distortion, a tube screamer, a danelectro chorus and a MXR compressor...so...i have no idea why im having so many problems.

Reliability : 1
In my case, not reliable at all. The noise it generated sounded like death.

Haven't called yet. I got it through the store i work at and I'll probably just have them send it back to the distributer.

I've experienced hum with this thing. I don't think it's all that great. Come on, it is the cheapest multi-power supply out there. I had so many hum problems in my pedalboard. I took this thing out and used the power tap from my ADL Switchbox Double and it cleared up the hum. I still use it to power two pedals that are in my rack effects loop where it doesn't seem to be causing any hum there.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's pretty flimsy and light. It would probably shatter into a thousand pieces if some burly stage hand stepped on it.

I wouldn't buy it again. I've been looking at real power supplies like the Dunlop Brick or even the VooDoo Labs thing.

One of the best accessories for my guitar rig I've ever bought. It packs away small and is very easy to set up.

Sound Quality : 10
I can power up to 5 pedals but I'm only powering three right now - Morley Little Alligator volume pedal, Yamaha compressor, Boss BD-2. Absolutely no noise at all, very quiet. I also use an RP-10 in the effects loop of the amp so I have the volume pedal and compressor on the right side of the amp and the BD-2 on the left side. My only beef is that the distance between power connectors is only about a foot, so I have to skip one to get the BD-2 way out to the left of the RP-10. If I was using all five connectors, I'd have to stomp over the RP-10 to get at one of the effects pedals which could be tricky. Otherwise, a great product!!

Reliability : 10
No problems yet. Take care of it and it will last forever.

I love how small and light this is. I used to use a power supply that was made in the 70's that was about 4"x4"x6". It worked OK but this is more portable and it's quieter.

If you've used a power adaptor with a pedal before, you can use this. Plug it in, connect the multi-connector, plug it in to the pedals, and you're done.
This is a newer model, with a thicker, more durable cord.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this to power the following: Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Digitech Digidelay, Fulltone Clyde standard wah, and Peterson Strobostomp. It doesn't add any noise to the signal that isn't already there, and doesn't affect the tone.
However, i seem to think that the wah doesn't have as much of a boost when powered by this as it does when powered by a 9V battery. It's a small difference, but noticable to me. It's not enough of a problem though, that i wouldn't use this to power the wah. Also, now that i think about it, the wah also had less of a boost when i used the Fulltone power supply which means it's not this unit causing it, it's something to do with the wah.

Reliability : 6
Here's where things get interesting. I first bought one of these a couple of months ago. The first time i used it, i plugged it in, went to get my guitar, and when i came back, there was no power to any of the pedals. I tried for a while to get it working, and gave up. The next day i tried again, and it was working, but anytime i tried to power more than 2 pedals with it, it caused a lot of noise in the amp.
I called and spoke to a rep, who said to send it in, and they would take a look at it. 2 weeks later, i received a brand new one in the mail. Not only was it brand new but it was the newer version, with the thicker, more sturdy cord. So far it has worked perfectly, but it hasn't been long enough yet for me to really know how reliable it is. Given the user-friendly price of this thing, if i was gigging, i would definitely buy a backup, just to be safe.

Customer Support : 10
When i called, i spoke to Steve, who was helpful, patient, and friendly. As i said, not only did they send me a brand new one, they even upgraded it by giving me one of the newer models. This type of customer service can't be beat, and thanks to it, i will continue to check out their products, and use them when they suit my needs.

Overall Rating : 9
The $40 price is for the 1-spot and a multi-plug adaptor that lets you power up to 5 pedals at once. Considering the price of the other power boxes out there, this can't be beat. Now that it has the thicker cord, the one complaint most people seemed to have has been remedied. This is simply one of the best products out there, in my opinion.
peace
