Super easy. You plug it in to the wall and go. To expand the power capabilities, I suggest buying an MC-5 or MC-8 daisy chain extension. You can power multiple pedals at once all through the 1 Spot's power adapter without adding additional power adapters & 12v sockets. AND, to expand for additional pedals (if you're starting out with 5 9v adapters) just add another daisy chain and you'll get 4 or 7 more 9v plugs to allow for expansion. So easy and very inexpensive.

I have notice absolutely zero interference or grounding issues with the power to this point. I'm running the power through my chain, which consists of a Fulltone OCD, VS Jekyll & Hyde, VS H2O, and a Boss DD-20 in to a Fender Deville. No hums or hisses or inadequate power routing that would hurt volume.

It's not built like a tank, so don't treat it like one. But it should hold up just fine. Been using it for 3 months now and absolutely no problems. If you have a pedal board, you'll probably never bring harm to it while transporting (which is usually the biggest threat to your pedals).

Great value. For the price you'll save hundreds of dollars over other pedal power products. While it's not the most professional path to go, it's certainly the most affordable. If you're going to run 10-15 pedals, you might want to spend a little more and invest to protect. The 1 Spot doesn't have anything like a surge protector so that's your only weak spot (if the wall or power strip you're running through doesn't have a surge protector already built in). But if you're reading through this and wondering if it's worth buying, definitely!

So far so good. I wrote 1-Spot for a question or two and got an immediate response to my concerns. Parts for this inexpensive product can be found most everywhere. So even if it goes bad, I'd just buy another one as it sure won't break a pocket book.

Called like I said once with a concern before I purchased and got an immediate response. So based on that one experience I'm giving them a 10, but if others have had bad experiences, they should send out the word on what they had to deal with. I'm pleased at this point.

The 1-Spot is a dirt cheap item in relation to everything I own, from pedals to guitars to amps, to everything that goes with guitars. I will be purchasing a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 soon as I'm expanding my board. About the only negative I have for the product; while the daisy chain reaches the pedals if they are in a line, I'm now running a wah and volume pedal between a delay and the others which really puts a max stretch on the length of the chain. (thus the lower score, but only for that reason). Since I'm getting into the PedalTrain Pro board (which is set up for the Voodoo) and the chains are individual, it will work much better. But make no mistake, if you use a limited number of pedals, this is a great product for the price, and would make a fine cheap but worthwhile gift for someone.

Visual Sound has obviously put a lot of consideration into this product. It has a very long cable and many convenient accessories can be purchased for it, like daisy-chain cables, adapters, and 9V battery plugs. It only takes up one space on a power bar. I only give it a nine because of the inherent messiness of all these cables.

The 1Spot gives all one can hope for in terms of sound quality. Even through the noisiest of pedals, no 60Hz hum is audible. The power it gives out is pure 9V DC.

Very easy to use. I had it all plugged in about a minute. It's very self explanatory just by looking at it. I've never had pedals before but I managed to arrange the extra slack between pedals creatively so it doesn't look messy. Looks pretty snazzy!
I purchased the adapter and daisy chain separately because it was a few dollars cheaper that way. Plus the daisy chain had 5 plugs which is 1 more than I needed (rather than the Adapter/Chain combo pack which has 3 more than I needed).

I'm a bass player so I don't have any crazy effects like any shredders out there. I run a Boss Tuner > Boss Super Chorus > Digi Tech Hyper Phase > Boss Metal Zone (previously ran a Sans Amp Bass Driver for distortion). The signal is quiet at all times regardless if the pedals are on/off (in live settings and at practice). The only time there's hiss is when my Metal Zone is on, but it would also do that with a battery anyway, so I know it's not the 1 Spot. Plus when I had my Sans Amp on for distortion it was quiet 100% of the time.

Reliable so far. The salesman emphasized to use a grounded power strip (no, duh) to plug it into, which I did. I took it a step further, I also purchased a 16 Gauge 3 prong grounded extension chord for the power strip at a hardware store. Didn't know if it'd make a difference in keeping unwanted surges/noises out, but I feel safer having it than a skinny generic household chord (it was only a few bucks anyway).

My guitar player is the one who turned me on to this. He has a more elaborate set-up and loves it. He sounds great. He also has a noise gate running through it, but I think he owned it before he got the 1 Spot. But He likes it, I like it. We play hard rock/alternative/metal styles and our sound hasn't been compromised using it.

OK, here's my setup: Telecaster>>Vox Wah>>Fulltone GT-500>>Digitech Bad Monkey>>Boss DD-3 (Delay))>>Fender Blues Junior NOS Tweed Limited Edition (Jensen C12n speaker). Adequately powers my entire board with all pedals on (not something I ever do live, but I had to test it).
I am not using the "daisy chain" adapters (sold seperately). Instead, I use it is the power supply for the board itself and plug each pedal into the board. I've noticed less noise, and a noticable improvement in sound quality from some of the pedals. I think the Fulltone benefited most from this and sounds absolutely glorious (but that's another review...).

I play blues, classic rock, modern rock, and gospel/funk/R&B-ish stuff mostly for my church but also some other studio and gigging projects. Been playing for about 22 years now. Been through alot of gear in that time. Some I wish I still had and others...well, good riddance. I'm sure that if my budget was larger I would easily find better power supplies but this lil' fella does the trick and does it well.
I am satisfied for now. Being happy with my tonal pallet is not easy for me as I suffer from TCD ("tone-chasing disease")but I am right now content for the first time in more that 5 years! This thing made a difference for me in a big way so I'll give high overall marks.

It's an (8) pedal adaptor. If you can't set it up, you shouldn't be playing guitar.
Sound Quality
:

This adaptor powered six pedals for me, with total of about 70mA in power drain. This adaptor worked fine for about 2 months then after playing for about 30 minutes I would start to get a loud hiss in all my pedals. Then a week short of 3 months use, I got this high pitch squeal and extrememly loud hiss one day. I thought a preamp tube in my amp had gone bad. Started trouble shooting all my pedals and adaptors. All the noise went away when the 1 Spot Adaptor was removed from my chain and replaced with individual Boss adaptors. Problem solved, the 1 Spot fried after less than 3 months use.
Reliability
:

It fried after less than 3 months steady use with only a 70mA power drain. This thing is supposed to be rated for 1700 mA, so 70mA is a no brainer. I gave it a 3 because it did work for 3 months.

I have been playing guitar for 38 years, so I know how to trouble shoot a pedal chain. When you get alot of hiss, noise, and high pitch squeal, that is the first place you look. 1 Spot was definitely the problem. I choose the 1 Spot because of the low $35 price and I could eliminate multiple adaptors from my pedal board. But if it is going to crap out in less than 3 months, I don't know if I want another one or not. Good thing this didn't happen at a gig or I would have sacrificed the Visual Sound 1 Spot to the rock gods and burned it on a stake.

I've been using the 1-Spot for over a year and I've experienced far less noise than the universal power supplies I was using before. Most of the time there is no noise at all, just occasionally in a place with bad current or where the wall outlets are ungrounded, but in that situation you'll get noise with any power supply.
My main pedal board contains two Boss BD-2 Blues Drivers an early 80's DOD FX-65 chorus (blue casing) and a Boss TR-2 Tremolo. I play a 2006 Eric Clapton strat, a 1988 12-string strat and occasionally an Ibanez AF75 arch-top, through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Mojo extension cabinet. My entire pedal board is run through the effects loop in the Deluxe.
Now here's one thing about noise. I highly recommend no AC power on your pedal board if at all possible, unless one of your units requires it. If you run AC to your board, you'll always run the risk of some noise no matter what unit you use, due to the proximity of audio and patch cables. My 1-Spot is plugged into an AC drop box that sits behind my amp stack. I shortened the cord to about three inches and put a heavy-duty auto trailer light connector on it, the other half of which is connected to an eighteen-foot standard AC cord with a 2.1MM DC connector on the pedal board end, which connects to the 1-Spot 5-way to run the pedals. So the pedal board snake consists of that line plus audio-to and audio-from. This way there is no AC anywhere near the pedal board or any of my instrument cables. I have found this to be an excellent way to prevent the possibility of magnetic interference from AC.

I've been playing professionally for a living since 1974. I play rock and roll, blues and some country. I would definitely buy another one if this one were lost or stolen. I do have a second one for back up because I like to cover the bases, but I've never had to use it. I am considering buying an additional one to power my secondary pedal board. This board sits back by the amp and contains an AudioTech ABC unit, a Planet Waves CT-04 tuner and a Boss GE-7 EQ for the 12-string (I currently power those units with batteries to prevent the possibility of ground-loop).

It is as easy as any power cable unit. Once I had my board laid out I didn't have any trouble running the daisy cables. I actually use 2 5 outlet cables which gives me a total of 9 power connections off of 1 1-Spot. Someone just asked me today was it clean and I said yes, but he ended up checking out himself. I am getting a 2nd one just to give a backup and even my load just in case. But you can easily run that many pedals off of one. I've had at least 5 effect active at any given time and even more a few times.

Obviously very simple to use. It was a little difficult to make the daisy-chain look neat with so much slack in between plugs... but it's much better to have more cable than you need than to not have enough.
The right angle plugs are brilliant, I don't know why nobody else offers them.

I was actually hesitant to buy this product because of some negative reviews I read about noise and whatnot. Now I am convinced they these people are having issues that are not related to the 1-Spot. I'd recommend this two anybody unless they have tons of power-hungry E-H pedals or Boss double pedals or something.
I'm powering a Dunlop JH-1 Wah, Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble, Boss TR-2 Tremolo and Line 6 Echo Park. Even the Echo Park, which has been notoriously documented to get noisy when put on a daisy-chain, has given me zero problems.
I'd bet that people having sound quality issues are plugging the adaptor into a bad power strip (or one that's loaded down with all kinds of other stuff) that's sending hum through the chain.
After doing some tidying on my pedal board, I did notice that my Wah started giving me a slight pop when clicking on or off. It's probably because I shoved all the extra daisy-chain cabling into its empty battery compartment. I didn't notice it doing that before. Good idea aesthetically, probably a bad idea electronically. I'll need to find another way to hide all the excess cable.
Reliability
:

I don't see why anything would happen to the 1-Spot under normal conditions. It's great for gigs (probably more geared towards those who use a pedal board) and much more reliable than a rat's-nest of cables and wall warts.
I love when people complain about the fact that the plug is plastic... have you ever heard of a metal AC adaptor? I guess they could make it out of some kind of heavy-duty rubber material.
I am very impressed with the thickness of the main cable. Far better than the extremely flimsy "official" AC adaptors from Boss, Line 6, Dunlop, etc. I feel like I would snap those cables with the slightest tug. Not so with the One-Spot. The main cable is thicker than the one for my TV!

This is great for gigging, church bands or messing around at home. Great for people on a budget because it eliminates the need to keep buying batteries, and it's far cheaper than the $100+ alternatives.
Now if you're a serious touring musician or going into a pro studio, you should definitely look elsewhere for more professional pedal powering options, but I would highly recommend this in most other situations

Mine's an older one, at the time I bought two. A Visual Sound 1 spot, and an some other brand. One of the online houses was selling this one made in Germany that just says "Switchmode Power" on the back. I don't think it was made for music per-se.
The 1 Spot causes this noise that comes through the speaker, it's kind of like a theremin sounding high D note. It's kind of funny, a guy I play with says it sounds like the background of a 50's sci fi movie. So I throw some $400 modulation on it :) Good for laughs, but unacceptable for the the gig rig, and now it is being booted from rehearsals.
However the other brand "Switchmode Power" works great, powers a ton of pedals quietly. I am searching for another, and am wondering if the Godlyke one is the off brand I speak of branded with their label?

Seriously, I know how to troubleshoot- been in the IT business as a sys admin since the 80s. I don't jump to conclusions easily, I've swapped things out, and the power supply is the culprit.
Speculation as to why the noise might be in the design... whatever is used to switch (to give what is required by digital switch) is causing oscillation that leaks into the effect circuit somehow. Now thinking about it the sound is like when a noisy guitar/amp is near a computer.

I use this to power my BOSS PH-2, EH Small Stone, EH Big Muff, and 1976 Univox Micro-Fazer. In my opinion, it's the best adapter you can buy. It powers all the pedals nicely, puts out a consistent 9.4 volts, and adds much LESS noise then other adapters. Yes, it is noisier then batteries - as are all adapters - but compared to the normal BOSS transformers, this thing is dead quiet. Even my Big Muff is hum-free. The only thing I noticed is that the ultra-fast phaser speeds tend to sound a little more garbled with this then with batteries, but that may be my imagination.

I would recommend this highly to guitarists like me who have lots of pedals and a need a relatively inexpensive way to power them.

One amp was even battery powered (Roland Microcube); so it's not a ground loop issue. I use quality Planet Waves and Bill Lawrence cables; so it's not a matter of crappy cables. The hum/buzz is even present with the cable that is meant to go from the guitar to the first pedal is not connected; the buzz, however, does go away when I touch the shield part of the plug (the part you pull on to pull it out of a jack). I tried several outlets in all three locations. However, the buzz does go away when I touch something metal on the guitar or pedal, so it must be some kind of grounding issue in the 1 Spot. The pedal was NOT defective as I sent it back to Visual Sound and they replaced it. Both adapters had the same noise problems.
Be wary of these "switching" power supplies as they are very sensitive to noise. I'm willing to bet that there are a lot of people that are getting noise, but don't notice it in high volume, gig situations.
But what can you really expect for $30, right?

They were quite snappy on email responses and even replaced the adapter for me. However, it was, in the end, entirely futile, and I ended up wasting the cost of shipping twice--once to Visual Sound and the other time back to Musician's Friend. What a big waste of time and money. Although they tried to be helpful at Visual Sound, in the end they had no answer for me. I can't imagine that I'm the only one with these problems.

Does add some noise, but not much more than my rig already puts out anyway, so it's really no problem. At present I'm using this with a Memphis '72 Tele Custom copy through three Danelectro pedals, a Fab Tone, a Tuna Melt tremelo, and BLT echo into a Music Man RP 65 112. All pedals work fine with this. It also seems that when using this instead of a 9 volt the Fab Tone seems a bit less harsh. I'm not sure if it's just this adaptor, as before this I only ever used it with batteries.

For the price I paid, you can't beat it, and it's definitely much cheaper than having to buy a pack of 9 volts all the time. If something were to happen to this, I might buy another one or I may look into the Godlyke Powerall. But, if you're sick of 9 volts and wall warts, this is definitely worth a shot.

I am definitely a gear junky. I have been using the 1 Spot to power an MXR DynaComp, Boss Blues Driver, EHX Big Muff (using the 9 volt batt. adapter plug), Danelctro EQ, Boss DD-6, and BBE Sonic Stomp. I have been very satisfied with the sound I get and am impressed with the amount of juice this thing puts out (1700 mA!). I haven't noticed any noise since using it; much quieter (and more manageable) than a bunch of wall warts.

The 1 Spot is great. It gives me the ability to power all my stomp boxes (with 1 exception) with a single plug. The exception is my EHX Deluxe Memory Man, which is 24V DC rather than 9. If it were stolen, I don't know if I'd buy another; I'd probably shop around a bit more than I did when I got this, but it came free with my pedalboard, and I'd never turn down free gear. I don't mean to sound dissatisfied with it, cause I'm not (I even bought another 5 plug extension for it). Overall I'd say its a good value, even at the list price of $35, since there's nothing else really comparable in the same price range.

I strum around on everything from drone/sludge metal stuff, to Orchid and Pg.99 type punk rock, to Bauhaus and Jesus and Mary Chain-esque noise stuff. I'd definitely pick up another one of these if this one was ever lost (esp. since a local guitar shop matches Musicians Friend prices). Someone recommended the Godlyke power supply, but it was a bit on the expensive side, so I opted for the 1 Spot and am very happy with it.

I am into effects laden youth oriented worship music.
I have played guitar for 38 years and my skill level has already risen to the point where a guy should be after 3 years. I get a lot of comments about how good I sound, but none about how well I play. Consistent practice might have been worth trying.
I bought this adapter because it was inexpensive and therefore worth a try. Also, I looked on the visual sound website and Bob Weil seemed like a decent guy. I have not regreted this purchase - in fact, I'm going to buy two more, one as a spare and one for a board I'm putting together for my daughter.
I am running a cheap pretender HSS guitar into AnalogMan Mini Bi-Comp > EH Small Stone Phaser (soon to be modified by Mike) > AnalogMan Clone Clone Chorus > AnalogMan SD-1 808 Silver Mod > Keeley BD-2 Phat Mod > Delux Memory Man > Boss TR-2 > Peavey Prowler (40 Watt Tube). There are two venues where I can route some of the effects through the effects loop, but in the main sanctuary setting using the effects loop adds too much cable. In that situation the amp is in another room, the speaker is mic'd and runs straight to the mains.
The cascaded modified Boss pedals have unlimited sounds but will not last much longer on the board as I am moving toward all true bypass. The tremolo definitely has to go - but the One Spot stays. I have powered seven pedals at a time with absolutey no problem. There is no reason to deduct any points. Truthfully, I can't understand why anyone would pay for more expensive pedal power options.

Well, I thought that maybe the fact that I kept picking up the Disney Channel might have something to do with the One Spot, but when I played just straight into the amp it was there as well, so must be unregulated power issues of some kind that doesn't have anything to do with the One Spot. I'm not sure what the really big deal difference a Voodoo Lab Power Pedal with sag control or whatever would be, but I power 9 pedals with this baby, two of them double boss pedals with high consumption requirements, and it all sounds great. Most of the time I don't pick up any extra noise, its always at home when I practice. I use the One Spot at rehearsals and gigs, its always performed exactly as needed. Except that Visual Sounds' polarity reverser thing didn't work for me, but I got rid of the pedal that needed it anyway.

I use a Voodoo Labs power pedal on my board, but I'm taking a cross country trip in a couple of weeks, only taking two pedals, and want to pack light. So, I bought the one spot about a week ago, and didn't get around to trying it out until last night. I pluged it into my Danelectro echo pedal and the led just flashed every few seconds, while my amp make a thud sound. I'm taking it back tonight.

Careful when buying the One Spot from Musicians Friend: Not too long ago, they were stocking and selling an old model.

I run quite a few pedals and I tried to power them all with my Boss Tu-2 and with some 9v adaptors. The problem here is that the daisy chain for the Boss pedal assumes that you're running 8 Boss pedals right next to each other. Not the case most of the time. Then I tried the Voodoo Lab pedal power 2. I was really impressed, but it was something like $180 dollars and it still only powered 8 pedals. I decided to try the 1-spot because the daisy chains are longer and you can power up to 20 pedals with it. I've heard some comments about noise and whatnot coming from the 1-Spot. I have yet to hear any noise from the adaptor. Although my Route 66 pedal started picking up AM radio after I started using this thing...kinda strange.

My first One Spot worked for a year and then died, adding only noise when plugged in.
I decided to give the One Spot another try, buying a new one.
This one wont power more than two pedals at once, or it suddenly adds lots of noise. It's a rush of noise whenever I try to turn on more than two pedals.
All my pedals are negative ground, true-bypass, quality pedals. All work together at the same time with battery power. But with the one spot, it's nothing but noise. How disappointing.

After 2 hours of trying to figure out why I had considerable amounts of noise coming from my effects board, i realized that the One Spot was the problem. I'm using it to power a Holy Grail, a Cry Baby and a cheap fender pedal tuner.
The wierd thing is, the sourse of the noise seemed to change. At first it was coming from the Cry Baby, then it was the tuner, then the Cry Baby again, then it was the Holy Grail. Finally I tried running individual power to each and voila, no more noise.
The guy who recomended it to me uses a One Spot and he has no issues with noise and he powers a cry baby, a holy grail, and some boss distortion, a tube screamer, a danelectro chorus and a MXR compressor...so...i have no idea why im having so many problems.

I can power up to 5 pedals but I'm only powering three right now - Morley Little Alligator volume pedal, Yamaha compressor, Boss BD-2. Absolutely no noise at all, very quiet. I also use an RP-10 in the effects loop of the amp so I have the volume pedal and compressor on the right side of the amp and the BD-2 on the left side. My only beef is that the distance between power connectors is only about a foot, so I have to skip one to get the BD-2 way out to the left of the RP-10. If I was using all five connectors, I'd have to stomp over the RP-10 to get at one of the effects pedals which could be tricky. Otherwise, a great product!!

I'm using this to power the following: Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Digitech Digidelay, Fulltone Clyde standard wah, and Peterson Strobostomp. It doesn't add any noise to the signal that isn't already there, and doesn't affect the tone.
However, i seem to think that the wah doesn't have as much of a boost when powered by this as it does when powered by a 9V battery. It's a small difference, but noticable to me. It's not enough of a problem though, that i wouldn't use this to power the wah. Also, now that i think about it, the wah also had less of a boost when i used the Fulltone power supply which means it's not this unit causing it, it's something to do with the wah.

Here's where things get interesting. I first bought one of these a couple of months ago. The first time i used it, i plugged it in, went to get my guitar, and when i came back, there was no power to any of the pedals. I tried for a while to get it working, and gave up. The next day i tried again, and it was working, but anytime i tried to power more than 2 pedals with it, it caused a lot of noise in the amp.
I called and spoke to a rep, who said to send it in, and they would take a look at it. 2 weeks later, i received a brand new one in the mail. Not only was it brand new but it was the newer version, with the thicker, more sturdy cord. So far it has worked perfectly, but it hasn't been long enough yet for me to really know how reliable it is. Given the user-friendly price of this thing, if i was gigging, i would definitely buy a backup, just to be safe.

If yah can plug in a toaster, you can use it.
As far as the distribution issue, I'll share what I did and see if it helps anyone.
Went to Radio Shack, bought small aluminum box.
-Bought 5 female panel-mount plugs.
-cut a opening in the box wide enough to stack them.
-Screwed them into the box.
-wired them all in parallel.
-made up cable(s) to feed my effects.
-One end into female on box, other to effect.
-Plug One Spot into any plug on box...
-the other plugs are now all hot.
This allows me to use different ends if needed or add extra at any time.
I also installed a small led so I know when it's on.
The whole project was cheap to build and is very reliable..

I was impressed. I could even use it to power an old wah that could detect ac power anywhere near it, but it ran quiet (battery-like) with the One Spot. No power adaptor "ever" pulled this off. So I was sold.
My old 71 Les Paul goes into a Duncan Pickup booster set to be mostly a line driver,
into an old Wah, into a Phase 90..and for now into a H2O, then into a modded 78-79 Marshall 2203. My amp is modded to the high gain type so any noise coming into it is noted quickly. No noise noted from the use of the One Spot.
I have used "1" One Spot (and no batteries) to power as many as 5 effects, no problems noted.
Personally, I LOVE IT!

Reliability:? It is made of plastic so I wouldn't stomp on it to often...
So far with about 30+ gigs under it's belt, it's 100% fine.
The long cord allows me to run it out of the stage line-of-fire, off to the side.
I think this is a pretty high quality piece, just not overly costly.

Pretty easy to use. You might have a little trouble if you have a ton of pedals, figuring out how many adapters and daisy chains and such you need to buy, but if you figure it out once, you're set. It's easier than all the wall warts that this thing replaces.

No noise from the adapter. I get some noise from my old tube amp, the lights in my room, and some of my analog pedals, but this thing is clean. And it runs at 1000 mA, so you should never run out of juice. If you do, you have too many fx on at once. At any rate, it's quiet.

seems pretty reliable. Some people commented that the cables are a bit thin, my only gripe is that sometimes the connections from the adapters and daisy chains can get a little loose, but I've never had a problem with this at a gig, just once or twice during setup.
Keep this on your pedalboard, store it safely and treat it well, like you would any of your other gear, and she'll be apples. And if it does break, read below for customer support.

Dealing with the company is extremely helpful. I own a Jekyll and Hyde pedal and have had replacement parts sent out to me quickly and often without cost. They'll often send parts for little or nothing, and will repair for the same cost, if any, provided you pay shipping. Boss is top notch in the reliability dept, i'd put these guys number one for customer support.

$40 gets you the 1 spot, a daisy chain, and one or two adapters. I'll have to buy another daisy chain and adapter to power my entire rig, but that still lands under $60. Lots less than say a voodoo labs pedal power. If it were lost, I'd buy another one.
For tons less money than a voodoo labs, you sacrifice some of the features (no 18v power, no 'sag' feature, etc) that you might not use, and still get a noiseless power supply. If you power more than 3 pedals on your fx chain, you need one of these.

No noise or hum. And I rehearse under the shadow of radio towers, so this is a big deal. Chain: EH small clone - boss flanger - proco rat - ibanez ad80 (powered by two radio shack battery replacers. the weird 18v req'd isn't handled by the one spot) - mxr distortion+ - line 6 delay modeller (with its own ps, which I already had. evidentally you can use the one spot for this, too, even in a chain, with a $2.50 adapter). (also in the chain, but have nothing to do with the one spot: yamaha fx500, dod mixer, casio mg500 guitar, running both the guitar and a yamaha tg 33 synth. Lots of nice possibilities and pretty darn close to silent, even after yards of wires under radio towers!).

I haven't had any problems with it, but I'd like to second (third?) the recommendation that the cord itself be a bit beefier. It is fairly thin and offers only minimal protection. Build quality has been fine, but I'd gladly have dropped another few bucks for a more solid piece.

This is a real treat: clear up the clutter of multiple PS's and stop filling up the dump with 9v Ikea batteries. I'm extremely happy with it (despite the sticker logo, in spite of the thin but really long cord). I've recommended it to people and would do so again. I play shoegazy stuff and have far too many pedals kicking around/in rotation, so this saves the hassle of buying batteries. I set up the pedal order, zip-tied them to a piece of scrap plywood from lowe's hardware and tossed it all in a solid thrift store suitcase. Result? Powered pedal board for under $45. Not pretty, but it works and has a certain hobo/diy charm.

No hum, no buzz. At least not from the power supply. If you get noise using the One Spot I wager its from your single coil pickups, bad/cheap cables or poorly designed/shielded pedals. I live 1/4 mile from an old radio station broadcast tower that puts out LOTS of spurious radiation and I still get no noise from the One Spot.

I've used the One Spot heavily for over a year and it's performed perfectly. Prior to the One Spot, I had a piece of c**p put out by Godlyke. Not only is their name a misnomer, their product was noisy and died after two weeks - taking a Zoom pedal with it.
The only thing I'd like to see on the One Spot, as well as all power adapters is a heavier, armored cable from the transformer/switch to the pedal. Dropping a cymbal on edge, rolling a heavy speaker cabinet over the cable, setting down a heavy road case roughly can damage that tiny little cable. Sure you can splice it or carry a backup, but you've got other things to think about during load-in.

I've emailed Visual Sound with questions on other products of theirs and received responses withing a few hours. Have never needed any repairs, since none of their products have broken on me.

Ok, my 1 Spot sounds great, but only when I use certain pedals. After some experiments I figured out that it seems to only work if you plug it into only one brand of pedal. When I use it on all my pedals, I get ridiculous buzzing and hissing. I've gotten two of these and they act i nthe same manner. I'd appreciate it if someone emailed me with a solution...

I've been playing about 12 years and I'm really grateful someone has released a pedal powering unit like this. Using individual supplies would be such a friggin drag and using batteries is not an option, since I'm not a millionaire and I don't like to take the risk of a battery going dead in the middle of a gig, sending me on a hellride. This thing definitely makes my life a little bit easier. The system they have for attaching different types of adaptors to a daisy chain is great. It's like a custom designed power unit for my stuff. I have a lot of different kinds of power inputs on my board. I use a crybaby wah, Jim Dunlop Tremolo, MXR Phase 90, Boss DD3 (delay), Ibanez Tube Screamer and Vox distortion booster. This little guy does all of them.
Someone mentioned that this power supply is expensive. I was wondering if he or she has priced the Boss power supplies that run only one pedal. They are very near the same price as the One Spot that will run all your pedals. This thing rocks and makes me more secure with my place in the universe. I highly recommend it.

This adaptor works generally very well.
However, I have two FX pedals between guitar and amp, and two more in the amp's FX loop. If I use the 1 SPOT to power at least one pedal in each group, I get background noise. I may, therefore, have to find a more expensive multi-power supply. This adaptor was very inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. Still worth the money, but doesn't suit my needs totally and I cannot rate it nearly as high as 10 if it induces noise under some circumstances.

Do yourself a favor: buy a DC Case & Cabinet Company pedal case for $69 (under "PB-2" on ebay), buy a 1-Spot plug and a daisy chain and have have yourself a powered pedal board and case for around $100, all included!
And for those of you outside the US, the 1-Spot supports 110 to 240 volts and 50/60 Hz!

Transparent . . . I can't hear any noise from this unit. I play mahogany planks with humbuckers, so my guitars are pretty quiet, but I push my signal through a pile of processors, so I tend to pick up some noise there, but the One Spot itself doesn't add any noise.

So far, it's been 50/50. The first One Spot I got really didn't work right, and I returned it; it had to be defective. I wrote a review of THAT One Spot, and gave it all 1's. I've since gotten a replacement One Spot, which has worked with no problems.
I reallt wanted to test my new One Spot, so I loaded it down with my most power-hungry pedals, drawing nearly 400 milliAmps without a buzz or a burp. Very impressive. I'd like to give my new One Spot a 10, but I'll have to settle for a 7, right now. I've only had it a few days, and haven't really put it to work until today.
I hope I don't need a backup, but I expect to buy a few connector cables, and hopefully, integrate the One Spot into a pedalboard. In the future, if I found that I needed another AC adapter, I would probably get another One Spot. If you're wondering why I would get another One Spot when the first one didn't work, it's because of customer service.

So, here's the important part of the story. After I wrote my review of the defective One Spot, I decided to write to Visual Sound. I went to the web site, found out how to e-mail them, and sent an e-mail describing how the One Spot didn't work for me. I got a return e-mail from Bob Weil, the president of Visual Sound, who is another guitar player, and a real gentleman. He told me how sorry he was that I'd had problems with the One Spot, and convinced me that I should try another one. He described his effects rig, which he was driving with a One Spot, and he was cleary getting enough power. So . . . I got another One Spot . . . it works great, but more important, I know that Bob Weil stands behind his products. Hey, he didn't have to respond to someone who said, "I've already returned the One Spot." How many company presidents care about a customer who spends $30? I totally respect Bob Weil, and I feel confident about buying his products. How much more can I say? Give him a 20!

I bought the One Spot to replace a rat's nest of adapters and cables powering my effects pedals. The rating for the One Spot promised 800 milliAmps, which should be enough to power a long chain of pedals, or even a couple of 200mA pedalboards. As if. When I plugged in some low-powered analog pedals (Wah, Distortion, Chorus and Attack Delay) it seemed to work alright, but the total current draw was around 50 mAmps. When I replaced the Wah with a Boss Bass Synth pedal (85mAmps), nothing would work. As soon as I plugged in any pedal with a current draw of 50mAmps or more, the whole chain lost power. I tried different pedals, from Guyatone, Boss, Danelectro, a whole pile. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the One Spot to deliver even 100mAmps of power; I don't know who told the folks at Visual Sound that this piece of junk puts out 800mAmps, but someone should have checked. As far as using this thing at a gig, there's no way.

I've been playing guitar for longer than I'd like to admit. When I first learned to play guitar, the song to learn was the Animals' version of "House of the Rising Sun." Yeah, I'm that old. I've been using and collecting effects since the 1960's, and it's been a long time since I've bought anything as bad as the One Spot; actually, I'm amazed that this thing got to market at all. There's just no excuse for something this simple to be so badly made. I never got to make music with the One Spot, and I suppose I should be glad it didn't fry any of my pedals. In spite of having gotten my money back, I resent having my time wasted. I spent quite a bit of time trying to make the One Spot work, and then had to make an extra trip to return it. The idea of the One Spot is a great idea, but this product doesn't even come close. The one other person who reviewed the One Spot seemed very happy with theirs, which is cool, but I'd be interested in knowing what kinds of pedals they used it with. When I took mine back to the music store, another guitarist told me that his bandmate bought one, and also brought it back. That one barely worked for about two hours, and then fried, taking a couple of pedals with it. I guess I was lucky.
