Ease of Use : 10
A straight forward pedal that is very user friendly.

Sound Quality : 10
Now I have the old version (silver) and the new version (red). Given that I also have a route 66 and an H2O, there should be little doubt that I am a fan of Visual Sound pedals. The red version of this pedal is a bit more flexible (the original was and is very flexible to begin with). The addition of the bass boost to the overdrive side adds a bit more girth to the tone. I run the pedal into a THD Bivalve. I plug into the less channel of the Bivalve and use the J and H pedal for overdrive and distortion. The H side of the pedal can produce many different tones. I tend to run it blunt with just a tad treble. This creates a singing, harmonically rich tone. I play in a top 40 variety band that plays covers and originals. We play everything from country to metal. With this pedal and the Route 66, I can create all the tones I need without having to change settings during a show.

FYI - Current set up. Jackson Soloist -- Morley Bad Horsie 2 -- Route 66 -- Jekyl and Hyde -- H20 -- Boss Tuner -- TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger -- MXR Phase 90 -- Boss Chorus Ensemble -- Boss DD 3 -- THD Bivalve (Less Channel) -- Avatar 212 speaker cabinet (loaded with eminence-type?) or Marshall 212 (loaded with green backs).

I have been using Visual Sound pedals live for three years now. I have yet to have a problem. Very well made.

Excellent customer service. When I began using the H20, it seemed to me that it was slightly boosting the signal when I clicked on the chorus. I called Visual Sound and they said send it back and they would reduce the output. They made the change and had it back to me in about a week. Oh, it was no charge. Very cool.

Overall Rating : 10
I play everything, and I like all types of music. I wish I could have said that when I was younger.... I would probably be a much better guitarist now if I would have listened to a broader spectrum of music when I was younger. Better late than never.

I own many pedals. The three Visual Sound pedals are always on my pedal board and in many ways help define my tone. The J and H has become the foundation for my lead tones.

Very asy to use. Plenty of features for an overdrive/distortion pedal.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this pedal with my Mesa Boogie Mark II-C and a fenders Blues Jr.
and PRS-24 and PRS-22 guitars. Not too noisey unless you max the gain, but thats with any pedal. First I have to say that I never had a Ts-808 pedal. So I can't compair the'Jekyll side' with a TS-808. But I did compair it to my other pedal(Fulldrive-II). The 'Jekyll side' is really, really a nice sounding pedal. I'm starting to like it more than my Fulldrive-II. Plus for $99.00 bucks from Musician's Friend, it's a steal compaired to the cost of the Fulldrive-II and the re-issue, TS-808 by Ibanez. I can even increase the bottom with the Bass Boost switch. Oh I forgot to mention that it has a 'Hyde side'. What a pedal, no what a steal. Must be rated as a 10 for sound and for two pedals in one. You can turn both pedals on for more boost and drive. I don't even play the 'Hyde side' because I love the 'Jekyll side so much. Cool sounding pedal always ready to Rock.

Overall a steal. Would buy another if stolen. Mostly play Rock or Jazz fusion. I just love the 'Jekyll side'. Has the JRC4558 chip. But more importantly, Visual Sound improved the Tone buffer circuit, increased the output volume for both of the channels, upgraded the capacitors throughout the pedal, and upgraded the switches. You musicians out there, check the new red pedal out before buying a Fulldrive-II or a TS-808. Save your money and still get great sound.

The setup is pretty straight forward. It looks pretty much like the same layout as the original version of this pedal. The one exception is the bass boost switch on the Jekyll side. The pedal is quite robust and seems very well built. My initial concern was the the "red color" of the pedal. I was concerned that the red LED light would not be easily seen against a red background. The red LED light is actually quite bright and does stand out. I have not used it outdoors yet, so I can't say how visible it is under such conditions as broad daylight.

I used to own the original version of this pedal and it was a great pedal. This current version is even better. The dual overdrive/distortion was what sold me on this pedal. The overdrive is SWEET and quite flexible but unlike the original, it has a bit more juice. The same is true for the distortion side of this pedal. Everything that the original was, the newer version has been updated vbery nicely. I play it through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 and it just ROCKS! It is quiet and the tone settings are very responsive. Using my American Deluxe Strat and my Washburn HB35, I came away a very pleased customer. I strongly recommend this pedal for the discerning guitarist who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on multiple pedals when one can do the job.

Reliability : 10
I don't anticipate any problems with this solidly constructed pedal. I never had problems with the earlier version and feel quite confident with the reliability of this new version.

No need.

I play a variety of styles which include Blues, Rock, Reggae and some Pop. I have been playing off and on since 1971. If this item was stolen, I would replace it with another. What I love about this pedal is it's flexibility. It's cool being able to combine the to channels for a singular kickass overdriven distortion tone. It lacks nothing that I can think of. I encorage you all to give it a try. You may like it quite a bit.

Straight ahead controls - Jeckyl: Gain, Tone, Volume;
Hyde: Gain, Tone, EQ, & Volume. Two stomp switches; oe for each. Hyde side has a "sharp"/"blunt" switch. Jeckyll side has a new bass boost switch. The red model has an upgraded buffer circuit and upgraded caps, too.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm playing into A Trutone Custom Dually, (2x12 Classic 30). I play classic rock to new hard rock.
This pedal is very versatile. You can get many different sounds. Enormous headroom.
I don't know about metal, though...but probably.

OD/Distortion is very harmonically rich. Great sustain.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank - metal. Very sturdy.

Don't know yet.

I wanted a dual pedal without spending three hundred bucks. The J&H allows you to run either/or, or both drives cascading. That's what I needed. Very cool stomp.

Been playng for 30 years. There.
