Ease of Use : 10
This pedal is extremely easy to use. You simply step on the switch to activate it, then adjust the foot pedal to the desired gain setting, in which there are ten LED lights that indicate where the gain stage is at. The pedal features three knobs which consist of EQ, Tone, and Volume.

Sound Quality : 7
I use this for my house gig at a 30's & up bar. The only thing cool about that is that I'm the youngest at 25! This is a small club, so my Carvin Legacy 2x12 combo at the 50 watt setting was overkill if you tried to extract too much juice out of it. I ran the volume on 2 and it drove me nuts because I was just shy of great tone.
Then I switched to a late model Peavey Transtube Bandit 1x12.
Most tone gurus would insist that this is a typical solid state P.O.S., but if you're a decent player it actually works quite well in the club I play at. The effects I use besides the Visual Metal include a Morley Bad Horsie 2, Boss Chorus Ensemble, and a Boss TU-2 tuner.
This effect seems to be quiet if you access it from the clean channel. However, if you access it from the lead channel it tends to feedback and squeal easily if you aren't careful, but I suppose that is to be expected.
I use this effect as a medium point between my clean and lead channel. I play mostly blues so I generally keep the foot pedal set about halfway up or slightly under. The halfway point in the bridge position(Seymour Duncan JB) with EQ(7)Tone(8)and Volume(8) give me a very smooth overdrive reminiscent of clasic Billy Gibbons tone. slightly under halfway with the same settings in the neck position(Seymour Duncan Hot Rail) I get tones reminiscent of SRV.
I'm sure there is a better sounding overdrive, but I am very satisfied with the tones I get.

Reliability : 10
I have had the unit for a few months and I purchased used. It seems very dependable and the tone is consistent.
I would use it without a backup because I do five nights a week.

I play blues which is super tone critical music as you all know. I feel the tone in which this effect generates would be a nice addition to any bluesmans rig that uses overdrive. I have used an original TS808 Tubescreamer, and a Boss Blues Driver. This unit knocks the snot out of those two. Some of you may judge me by the Peavey, but I do know good tone. My road rig overdrive is a Bad Cat 2 Tone, and you can't argue with those. If it were lost or stolen I would be pissed, but I have two so I would be ok. I wish someone would take this idea and incorporate it into a tube driven pedal that would include not only a foot pedal for gain, but for bass, mids, and treble as well. What a user friendly unit that would be with everything at your feet.
I have been playing about six years in which I have about ten worth of gear knowledge. This is a very cool fun effect I would gladly reccomend to anyone. If anyone has a Visual Blues for sale in great condition I will beat any reasonable offer. Thanks
