Two sturdy knobs. Pretty easy to work with. Manual didn't say much, but this is the kind of pedal that you mess with to get the good sound. So play with it.

60's strat - vox wah - micro vibe - ts808 - big muff - boss delay - boss chorus - 100w tube. With my set up, the pedal sounds killer. I think this is the best Uni Vibe copy there is in the market. It actually sounds better and more natural than the real thing. If you want to sound like Hendrix, this is a must. Of course there is noise, but aren't all swirly wirly effects noisy? The noise factor doesn't bother me because there isn't much. While you're not playing, you still hear this cool leslie back ground sound. I usually used it before distortion, but supposedly, Hendrix used it after fuzz.

I've been playing guitar for 10 years, and recently I started playing more of oldies but goodies. For vintage swirly sound, I think this pedal beat all competition hands down. I own the univibe, the rotovibe and toyed with the Deja 2. The sound wise, cost effectiveness, and even the looks, the uni vibe is where the vibe is.

Who knows what a good setup is, after 5 min (and many years behind a fretboard) I like this: Wah, Vibe, Overdrive>amp. If you put the vibe after my OD when the OD is on it picks up too much gain on each swirl and becomes too swishy. With the Vibe first, the OD compresses the signal and it's tolerable. Or use it alone. It's an analog Phase shifter, but a good one. It does boost the bass on the swooshies but I think that it's necessary, along with a mentality when your using weird effects anyway, you've got to sit back and not get anal...because you're not in complete control...hahahaha...is it hell and heaven combined? ahahahaha.....

Various Strats and a Telesonic into a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb. I love the sound, it's thick and swirly. Anything from a light chorus type sound to heavy vibro Univibe'ish sounds. I've only played through a Univibe once in a used music store and liked it very much. But they wanted over $200 used for it and I was reluctant at the time to buy it. Now I'm glad I waited because the Micro Vibe sound just about as good to my ears, and was alittle cheaper. Sounds good clean or overdrive tones. I have noticed that it clips some of the high end out of my tone, but nothing drastic by any means. Excellent product!

I bought this based on the other reviews. I did'nt know if the people who submitted these reviews were newbys, company shills or a bunch of crackheads that think a speaker with a hole in it sounds good. I am happy to say they are knowledgable and were right on the money with this puppy. I have been playing for over 25 years and I am very picky. I have bought my share of lemons based on hype but, this is a good value here. sounds as good as the one trower uses to my ears.

read this before you buy..i have tried the Voodoo-vibe By Roger Mayer. I have tried the Deja-vibe the dunlop uni-vibe and many others. This one has the best vibe hands down...i play a strat
with van zant pick-ups into a vox-wah stock into a fulldrive 2 then
a boss distortion and micro vibe. Into a Fender 59 Bassman And
a Fender Twin reverb Signal is split with a voodoo bass pedal. The only draw back is the popping sound when switched on....and
the inevitable swooshing noise...But all the other pedal makers
claim that there's are noisless...thats nonsense they all are...
a boss ns-3 helps out a bit.... three points lost for the click...i have exchanged the pedal three times and it was all the same
if anyone could contact me from customer support my email

im playing a 60's re-issue strat with George L cables into a Z Vex Fuzz Factory, Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Micro Vibe, and a Line 6 Delay Modeler. my amp is a 70/71 Deluxe Reverb w/ an Eminence speaker.
the first m vibe that i bought grew very noisy after 3 months, so i returned it, and was given the newer version. thankfully, i have had no trouble with noise at all. i mean, hell..............it makes SOME noise, but only a 'tard like Eric Johnson would really object. i like the sound of the m vibe very much, but i must say that it does have it's quirks. first, i find that it has a very pronounced lower-mid boost when engaged. it damn near makes a bridge pick-up sound like a neck p/u. second, it reacts to some pedals better than others- it seems to require considerable experimentation to find the best spot on your effects chain.
what is most intriguing to me is the source of power and it's effect on th m vibe. i find that a Tech 21 adaptor provides much greater Speed and Intensity than a brand new battery. the difference is astounding, to be honest. i have used various AC adaptors and batteries and the difference between them with the m vibe is far greater than any pedal i have ever owned. each power source seems to have a great impact on the sound of this pedal.

i have never played an original Univibe, so it's impossible for me to compare. also, im not interested in sounding like Jimi (much as i love him), Trower, SRV, etc. that said, i do find that subtle use of this pedal can really warm up a Strat (both knobs at 9 o'clock or so) or add a very sexy, hypnotic swirl to your playing when the knobs are at 2 or 3 o'clock. it's not something i use all the time, but it can really help your guitar parts stand out if used correctly.

Very easy to use. Two knobs and a footswitch. Intensity knob adjusts depth and the speed knob adjusts rate. Editing is common sense. Knobs are big enough to be turned with the tip of your toe for on-the-fly adjustments. The manual is a single piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper printed on both sides. It's fully explained with just that, and for most people, it won't even be necessary. Replacing the battery requires removal of the 4-screw bottom. A thumbscrew or pop-out lid would have been easier. But I'm not keen on batteries (BTW, a Boss PSA-120 will work as an adapter) so that's not an issue for me.

It's a Univibe clone with true bypass. It sounds like a Univibe, but with no noise or tone-kill when it's bypassed. Though there are better Leslie simulators, this is identical to the original Univibe in terms of the actual effect, so I don't knock it for not giving a "true" Leslie sound. I plug this in right before a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver or the fuzz from a Digitech RP-200 or Boss GT-3, into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I have other effects plugged in before and after, but the BD-2 or fuzz is all I use when this pedal is on. It's noisy when it's on with gain and I'm not playing, but when I'm playing or the OD/Fuzz is off, I can't tell it's on. But that background swirl when I'm not playing is cool to me. When it's off, it's out of the signal entirely and doesn't kill tone. True bypass is a godsend. It's never weak. It's a 4-stage phaser on steroids- more "swoosh" at the top and bottom of the modulation wave. It's VERY good for what it's intended for, and can be used in other "uncommon" ways, too. You can get the standard Univibe Hendrix, Trower, SRV, Pearl Jam, Incubus sounds out of it with ease, and it's also great for comping clean triads- something I haven't heard it used for on recordings. And at a low intensity, it reminds me of a weak-filter wah sweep. And it adds cool textures to acoustic, and is cool for vocals, too (think "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden.) I don't know if they've revised it, but I DON'T hear ANY volume boost or extra high end when I switch mine on. If anything, the center of the sweep is thicker than my original signal, but it doesn't add volume, highs, lows or anything unpleasant in the middle or at either end of the sweep.

It's built well. I'll depend on it. I haven't heard a single complaints from long-time Voodoo Lab users. No backup for me. The case, pot posts and switch are all very strong. The paint line on the knobs will wear off after a lot of use but that's an easy fix. And the the thin foam skid-pad on the underside will wear down as well after just a few drags across a stage if you don't mount this on a pedal board. But neither of those affect the sound. Just the word "photocells" seems synonymous with "will wear and need to be replaced" to me, but I've seen two 30+ year old unrestored Univibes in action, so I expect this will last just the same. 9 just because everything is breakable and nothing lasts forever.

Not for this, but it's brand new. I've had exchanges with Josh on the Guitar Forum. He's even helped me with non-Voodoo pedals and mods, so I'm confident that any questions I ever have would be answered and any problems would be addressed. There'd be no reason to upgrade or alter mine unless I want a non-Univibe sound from it.

I play all styles of music, but I can't help but hear "Machine Gun" and "Bridge Of Sighs" when I kick this on. But for a Univibe clone, this is the best for the dough. A lot less money than either Fulltone pedal for the same effect. I'd go with a RotoSphere for a real Leslie sound, but again, this is a clone of a clone and so it can't be compared to or thought of as a true leslie simulator. And even though I use an adapter, kudos for the inclusion of a real Energizer alkaline 9-volt and not the crappy, weak, 1/2 hour heavy duty batteries that all my other pedals come with (if at all.) For ME, this pedal is perfect as-is, but stereo outs and/or a rocker-pedal housing or option would be plusses for others so it gets a 9.

very easy to get a good sound don't see the problem everybody else has with this midrange thing.Do you think a univibe or cloan should sound more bassy? Listen to Robin Trower's -Daydream- or Bridge of Sighs- sound like a bass? I think not. This is not a digital piece of crap like some of the phasers everyone gets hoping to sound like their favorite "stars".I think probably every univibe wanna be sounds clear and swirly like this.Go buy a bass chorus by you're favorite digital crappy pedal maker if you want a bass sound. The tone sucking might be from you're fingers ya'll. no manual if you want a manual go bbuy one of those digital piece of crap bass choruses.

I play a les paul, a 1980's strat.I use a yamaha distortion a ibanez c9 chorus the micro vibe a banshee talkbox and Ibanez phaser. Very slight volume increase when turned on but sound is very good.I don't see how you could get any closer to the sound of a real univibe.Just like all you other tone suckers out there I like hendrex trower, Frank marino, notice I didn't say korn or any of that we're talking guitar players arent we? By the way if you want to know what a guitar is suppose to sound like unplug youre bass choruses and bass flangers and go find you a frank marino and mahogany rush album or cd it will make you use these other freaks cd's as frisbees.

This thing really sounds good. The one thing I do not like about it is that you will notice your high end drop out when switching the pedal on, kinda dulls out the sound (as far as the top end definition, more muddy). But then again it is trying to duplicate the original and I think the originalprobably did the same thing. Pedals back then were more noisy and not as transparent. I tried the Dunlap uni-vibe and I am not sure I liked it. It did not have the organic swirl off the original uni-vibe or the micro-vibe. To make up for the drop out of your high-end use it with a loop switcher and maybe dial up those high frequencies that got chopped using an E.Q.
