I found the manual to be an easy read. There's really not much to setting up this little wonder. Dead simple actually.

The Pedal Power 2 is an absolute must have for almost anyone's guitar rig. Granted it's a bit expensive, but what "good" gear isn't. I consider the money well spent. I've reconfigured my pedalboard so many times it's not funny, so providing a signal chain is pretty much useless. It does simplify your life if you have more than 3 or 4 pedals in your signal chain, and it also does a good job of cutting the noise level by eliminating ground loops.

I returned my first one because it was having a problem with "dirty" power affecting the L6 outlets. There were a couple of situations where my DL-4 stopped working, and it always seemed to be in places where there was a possibility of the power being less than 120. My second one has preformed faultlessly ever since.

Never dealt with VL, but the fact that I can't seem to find an e-mail link on their webpage sends up a red flag.

I'll repeat myself here. The Pedal Power 2 is an absolute "must have". There is nothing in the design of this thing that I'd change. I'd only consider getting rid of mine if Voodoo Labs came out with a 10 or 12 outlet Pedal Power 3.

It might seem a bit tricky, but I found it pretty easy. The only curve ball for me was having to switch the two "Sag" outlets ON before using the Sag feature. The manual is pretty good at most things, but seems to lack some info. But for the most part, it's literally plug-and-play.

Instant noise reduction in my rig! I use P-90's into a few FX and overdriven tube amps, so I've been living with lots of hiss. This thing was like surgically removing all that static and bringing back my tone!
My rig: Fender Tele Deluxe w/ P-90's, MXR comp and phaser, two modified Ibanez tubescreamers, a Boss digi delay and a DigiTech reverb. Amps are a '65 Fender Vibro Champ, a '78 Fender Musicmaster Bass amp, and a Sovtek Mig 50.
This thing brought new life into the MXR pedals, saved me from a battery-vampire reverb pedal, and provides good clean power to everything else. I can't seem to notice any big variation in tone from my tubescreamers with the Sag feature.

It's brand-new, so I can't say. Seems solid, and it was designed with ruggedness as a high priority, so I feel confident. I can't afford a backup, so I'll always have batteries available.

Before making a purchase, I e-mailed about my reverb pedal to make sure their cables would work with DigiTech gear. They fired back a cookie-cutter response that didn't come close to answering my question. They didn't even tell me "We don't know." It was like they never even read my e-mail.

This thing is pricey, but it's for people who want or need a high-quality isolated power supply. It's not for everyone, but I feel certain it's money well spent in my case. I just finished rebuilding my pedalboard, and it should stay like this for the next few years, so I'm glad I got a set-and-forget power supply that matches the quality of the rest of my gear. It's solid, it works, and it eliminated the hum. Say no more.

The pedal power requires a good read of the manual to get used to. In an earlier review somebody mentioned that the pedal power doesnt work with the boss twin pedal series. In fact it does, you need to plug either of the twin series pedals into the line 6 sockets (5&6) and switch the polarity swtich at the back of the pedal power so that it is not on normal. Then it will work.

The unit is very quiet and is able to power most pedals that are on the market. I am usung the pedal power 2 with a CE-20 chorus, boss DD-6 delay,RV-5 reverb, boss TU-2 Tuner,MXR Zakk wylde over drive, budda wah, boss oc-3 octave, boss hr-2 harmonist and a boss ph-2 phaser. These pedals are being used with a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Combo.

I have to give a 10 for this as I emailed about extra connectors and I was emailed back in about 30mins. Although they didnt know about the boss twin pedals issue. You would have thought they would have.

I play rock, blues, heavy rock, metal anything really. I have been playing for about 13 years now. If the pedal power was stolen I would definetly buy another one. Th only thing I can say I hate about it is the fact that there are only 8 9v outputs and that u only get six convention cables with it. If u have 8 pedals u are stuffed and have to order some at #2-95p a piece. Its a bit pricy but u get what u pay for.

Updating review I placed immediately prior to this - please disregard that one.
This unit requires a study of the manual, as there are several modes of operation. There's also an issue with Boss Twin Pedals.

Using Fulltone Fulldrive 2>Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer>Boss CE-20 "dimensional processor"> Boss DD-20 "gigadelay>(2) Fender Blues Jr.'s. Plugged the Pedal Power 2's output #1 into DD-20 - no power. Tried output 2 - no power. Output 3 - power! OK. Plugged output 1 into CE-20 - no power. Output 2 - power! OK. Plugged output 1 into CS-3 - power! Odd. Plugged output 4 into the Fulltone - power. OK. Switched on the amps - CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK - the CE-20 is cycling on and off, rebooting, kinda.
UPDATE: I spoke with Voodoo Labs on the phone, and they were very helpful. Turns out that the pedal power supplies more than enough juice for your pedals that take a single 9 volt battery, but not enough for the Boss Twin Pedals, which need more mA than the PP2 supplies. The solution is to use the AC power passthru on the PP2 to hook up the juicier adapters. Not a perfect solution, and I wish that this issue had been addressed in the PP2's literature.
I decided to hang on to the unit and try the "sag" feature. It's cool, man. Made my old Rat pedal sound better than it ever has. On all pedals, this is a quiet unit. I'm keeping it after all.

A 7 because of my dashed expectation that it would handle all my gear. However, very quiet operation, the unique "sag" function and good customer support have convinced me to keep this in my setup.
I just wish it kicked 200 mA, so I could power my Boss Twin Pedals.

CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I'm a guitar tech/builder so all my guitars are customized for better output. I play through a Carvin XV-112 all tube amp with an Akai G-Drive distortion, volume pedal, dunlop wah, boss harmonizer, marshall guv'nor 2 distortion, marshal vibratrem, an ibanez delay, and a dedicated tuner. No noise. It's unbelievable.

The Pedal Power 2 is da ballz. Some people might think it's expensive. It isn't. $40 that I spent for a daisy chain cable with a shitty power supply that I threw out when I got this was expensive. This is clean good fun.

It powers the pedal for about 2 minutes then cycles it on and off.

After using for four months, it stopped working completely. No fuse problems, not shorts, just dead cold. Voodoo Labs tech support would not call or email back after repeated attempts to contact--they SUCK at customer support. Thankfully, this was the one time I decided to get an extended warranty from Guitar Center and it paid off. When I called them up, they didn't even offer to replace the unit--they asked me to ship it ASAP for a refund. This makes me suspicious---they won't replace the unit, so are there problems with others?

They never answer their phones, call anyone back or return any email. THey are worthless. For $180 for a damn power supply they should be a hell of a lot more accomodating than they are.

Avoid this company like the plague, or get a 3rd party warranty if you really want to buy something made by Voodoo Labs--just my experience, mind you.

ENTIRELY SILENT. Before, a swell with my volume pedal resulted in just more 60-cycle hum and electrical chaos than tone. Now, all my pedals con tribute only their respective sound, not hum. It easily runs (with one exception, I simply have too many effects) all my pedals.

Always reliable--never shorts out or gives me trouble like my multiple adapters did. It is ESSENTIAL for the gigging musician(like myself) to produce noiseless tone--and this delivers.

This is the best part. I needed a specialty cable for my Fulltone fuzz pedal...so I wrote to Digital Music, the makers of Voodoo Lab. A representative immediatley responded, and sent me a special power cable free of charge. Needless to say--I was quite impressed.

Overall--the centerpiece of any serious guitar or bass rig. Any competing, cheaper alternative will bring only noise, death and destruction. Don't waste your cash on expensive Tubescreamer copies; this will make you sound far more professional than any true-bypass gimmick.

One night, we were doing a two night stint at a partially covered venue and it rained unexpectedly between the two shows. Well, all of my pedal board was sopping wet and WATER was coming out of my Pedal Power II. After becoming very OCD in drying it out with an industrial dryer, I plugged it up that night and the son of a bitch worked. I use it without a backup, in the rain, in the elements. It's a badass power supply!!!

I am a stickler when it comes to the amount of batteries I must change out if things like this didn't exist. I will keep using my pedal power II until the pedal power III comes out - will it have 12V support? I hope so. I'm tired of my H&K power supplies failing!!!

I play everything from rock to blues to metal and jazz. It is great for all of it. I would buy it again if stolen or lost. In fact, I'm going to buy another anyway, because I need more outputs. That would be my only complaint. I wish they made a model with 16 outputs.
